This podcast contains the weekly Connect Group lesson and other teaching from Taipei International Church.
R.A Torrey was a pastor, Bible College president, author, and traveling speaker in the late 19th century and early 20th century. He was an assistant to the evangelist D.L. Moody for many years. This is an audio recording of a pamphlet he wrote on why he believes the entire Bible, from beginning to end, is true and can be trusted. If you are wrestling with what to believe about Scripture or if you want to strengthen your faith in the Word of God, I want to encourage you to listen to it.
In light of our new life in Christ we pray for the Gospel to advance and we pray that we would be gracious witnesses of Christ.
In this passage Paul give us instructions for family relationships.
In this section of Colossians Paul tells us the way we are meant to live.
In this passage Paul directs us to find our identity in Christ, put our focus on Christ, live according to Christ, in a new community in Christ.
In this section Paul shows us what type of false teachers to watch out for.
In this passage Paul calls us to live in Christ and shows us that Christ is enough for us spiritually. We do not need to seek other means to get to God and we do not need to be afraid of any other the spiritual powers. God has set us free from sin and darkness in Christ.
This episode covers who Christ is, what he has done to reconcile us to God, and what we should do in response.
The opening episode of our study on the book of Colossians.
Jesus sends a blind man who has been healed to be a witness the Pharisees that he is from God.
In this story we see how we can disconnect the power of God from the person of God. We also see how we should respond when we experience or witness a miracle.
This is a story of Jesus responding in a situation where a woman is being utterly humiliated and used as a pawn to trap Jesus. Instead of choosing option A or B, Jesus goes with option C and shows grace and mercy that is astounding.
This is one of my favorite stories in the Gospel as we see how Jesus interacts with a law breaking sinner and a law keeping sinner. In this episode I'm drawing from commentaries by Kenneth Bailey, David Garland, and Joel Green.
At first reading it seems like Jesus is being unbearably rude, but when you understand what is really going on it changes the way you will look at this passage.
In this story we see what happens when Jesus meets a man with a legion of demons.
This is this the first episode in our new series called "Encounters With Jesus".
This is the final episode in our series on James. It covers James instructions on how to patiently endure difficulties and what to do when you are suffering.
In this section James talks about making plans without God and the judgement that will come upon the rich who oppress the poor.
James doesn't pull any punches as confronts the sinful behavior of the church. In this episode we look at how self ambition and bitter envy lead to fights in the church and how the solution is to humble ourselves before God.
In this episode we discuss Godly Wisdom versus Unspiritual Wisdom and how we can know what leaders to follow.
In this passage of Scripture James talks about the power of the tongue. We have incredible power in our tongue to build up our community or destroy it.
This is a challenging passage of Scripture where James writes that faith without works is useless.
In this passage James rebukes the church for showing favoritism to the rich. It's a challenging passage as James reminds us that we are called to love our neighbor [everyone] as we love ourselves and that favoritism is sin. Unfortunately, I had a throat infection during this recording and so my voice isn't as strong as normal.
Verse by verse teaching of James 1:19-27. Key Takeaways: 1. Work to hear and understand others and delay your response because anger will not produce what God desires from us. 2. We must obey the Word not just learn about it. 3. True religion means caring for those in distress while remaining pure from the world.
In this episode Pastor Peter walks through James 1:12-18 verse by verse. There are three main points that James makes. 1. Trials are an opportunity to be tested and rewarded. 2. We should never blame God for temptation we only have ourselves to blame. 3. Every good gift comes from God.
