Paul closes Colossians by showing that Christians share a common mission shaped by Christ's love and courage. Even in his suffering, he reminds them that God is at work forming unlikely bonds and strengthening His people. Believers are called to comfort one another through presence, prayer, and living out Scripture together. In all things, Christ never abandons His people, and our lasting crown is our relationship with Him and each other.

Colossians 4:2-6 | November 30, 2025 | Pastor Todd SmithIn this powerful exploration of Colossians 4:2-6, we're challenged to live out the supremacy of Christ in three transformative ways that directly impact our daily interactions with the world around us. The passage calls us first to pray steadfastly—not just occasionally or when convenient, but with courageous persistence that characterizes our entire day. This isn't about bowing our heads at meals; it's about maintaining a constant dialogue with heaven, being spiritually nocturnal as we navigate the darkness around us. The second call is to walk wisely among outsiders, recognizing that we carry the 'Believer's Behavior Version' of the Bible everywhere we go. People are watching through both binoculars and microscopes, and our conduct gives credibility to our words. Wisdom isn't just knowledge—it's learning to connect the dots of life through God's perspective, making the best use of our vanishing commodity called time. Finally, we're urged to speak graciously, seasoning our words with salt that makes them savory and engaging rather than harsh or sanctimonious. This means being prepared to answer questions about our hope with gentleness and respect, not as God's lawyers arguing a case, but as His witnesses sharing what we've experienced. When Christ truly becomes our everything, these three practices—steadfast prayer, wise walking, and gracious speaking—flow naturally from lives transformed by His lordship. To find out more about Crossroads Community Church or to connect with us, visit the following links:→ lifeatcrossroads.org→ facebook.com/lifeatcrossroadsTo give online: lifeatcrossroads.org/giveonline.CCLI License: 2915685CCS WorshipCast License: 9466GRANT OF LICENSE. Happy Thanksgiving (each chapter of Colossians mentions giving thanks)! Our testimony--the way we walk and talk--matters and we should consider that in all our interactions with others. We must recognize that the way we behave and speak is all a reflection on the LORD Jesus Christ. We are either actively drawing others to Christ or becoming an excuse for why they would push Him away. Join Crystal as she explains how we can walk and speak in wisdom, drawing others to Christ along the way. Colossians 4:2-6 KJV2 Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving;3 Withal praying also for us, that God would open unto us a door of utterance, to speak the mystery of Christ, for which I am also in bonds:4 That I may make it manifest, as I ought to speak.5 Walk in wisdom toward them that are without, redeeming the time.6 Let your speech be always with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man.Listen to Quortney's interview on Wisdom for Wednesday here. What does prayer practically look like? What does it mean for Christians to be "salt" in the world? How do we engage and interact with people who don't know God? Pastor Paul teaches from Colossians 4 on Christians as people of prayer, salt, and relationships. This message is a part of a series called "Highlights". Throughout this series we make our way through books of the Bible and take some time to teach on things we feel the Lord is highlighting along the way!Love Church is a Christian Church community based in Menomonie, WI with a desire to experience & express the love of God. Pastor Jim teaches from Colossians 4 and calls us to live wisely in how we interact with outsiders, those not yet in the family of God. He reminds us that wisdom means applying gospel understanding to everyday life, and that our lives should reflect the goodness and grace of Jesus in both our actions and our words. Jim challenges listeners to redeem the ordinary moments of each day, to view others not as enemies or interruptions but as potential brothers and sisters in Christ, and to let their speech be seasoned with grace so the gospel is made tangible through conversation. Whether proactively creating environments of kindness or reacting with gentleness to opposition, Jim urges the church to see themselves as sent ones whose lives point to the table of God. When we live like this, we reflect the aroma of the gospel and bring glory to the One who brought us in when we were outsiders too.

11/23/2025 A Grace Filled CommunityColossians 4:7-18Big Idea: Following Jesus and being the church is a team sport! The Gospel doesn't just save people, it creates a community. As the church, we are called to be part of a grace-filled Gospel community:1. True gospel community encourages one another (vs 7-9). Kingdom impact happens behind the scenes. (Philemon 1:10) Encouragement is oxygen. The Gospel doesn't just change your eternity, it changes your identity. (2 Cor 5:15,17). Jesus doesn't cancel people, He transforms them.2. True Gospel community is diverse but unified (vs 10-14). The Church is built on Christ-centered unity within God-designed diversity. (Gal 3:28).3. True Gospel community finishes the mission together (vs 15-18). Complete the mission God has given you. We are saved to serve others. Who am I encouraging? Who am I serving alongside? What is my part in the mission?

11/16/2025 | Standing FirmBig Idea: Pray persistently, live wisely, and speak graciously so others see Christ in you.Colossians 4: 2-6Storms have a way of revealing what's going on inside of us. When we are in difficult times we shrink down to the size of our training. The test of our faith reveals who we really are. In an uncertain world, Kingdom people:1. Stand firm through persistent prayer (vs 2-4). Do you pray as a last resort? (Acts 2:42) Our prayer life should be the conduit through which we find joy in our circumstances. If you want to stand firm in public, you need to be grounded in private. (Philippians 4:6-7). 2. Stand firm through wise living (v5). Our lives are sermons long before our words are. (Matthew 5:16) What does your life communicate about Christ to those around you?3. Stand firm through gracious speech (v6). Grace in our conversations means kindness, patience, and understanding towards others, even when they may not deserve it in our minds. Always, we are to speak the truth in love. It's never about trying to make people happy, but when we speak, even in disagreement, we need to speak in a manner that shows others love and respect, and points them toward Christ. Do your words pull others in, or do they push them away?Where do you need to stand firm right now? Gratitude is the evidence of a changed life. Prayer isn't just what we do in the battle, it is the battle.
As the Apostle Paul began his letter to the Colossians by speaking of his prayers for them, so he concludes his letter by asking the Colossians to pray for him. Their prayers should be steadfast in thanksgiving and ask God to open the door for Paul to preach the Word, even though he is currently in prison. The Word of God that Christians speak is true and gracious, and Christians look for opportunities to speak in the wisdom God provides. Before St. Paul finishes his letter, he extends greetings from a variety of his fellow workers, revealing the glorious connections that believers have to each other in Christ. Rev. John Bussman, pastor at St. Paul's Lutheran Church and School in Cullman, AL, joins host Rev. Timothy Appel to study Colossians 4:2-18. To learn more about St. Paul's, visit stpaulscullman.com. “Letters from Prison” is a mini-series on Sharper Iron that studies Philippians, Colossians, and Philemon. Even when Paul was imprisoned for the sake of Christ, the Word of God remained unbound. The apostle's letters from prison still fill us with the same joy that his chains could never silence. Sharper Iron, hosted by Rev. Timothy Appel, looks at the text of Holy Scripture both in its broad context and its narrow detail, all for the sake of proclaiming Christ crucified and risen for sinners. Two pastors engage with God's Word to sharpen not only their own faith and knowledge, but the faith and knowledge of all who listen. Submit comments or questions to: listener@kfuo.org

Welcome to the Grace Coach Podcast! Mike and Kevin share their insights from the Book of Colossians as they dive into Chapter 4. Masters, provide your slaves with what is right and fair, because you know that you also have a Master in heaven. 2 Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. 3 And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains. 4 Pray that I may proclaim it clearly, as I should. 5 Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity. 6 Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone. 7 Tychicus will tell you all the news about me. He is a dear brother, a faithful minister and fellow servant[a] in the Lord. 8 I am sending him to you for the express purpose that you may know about our[b] circumstances and that he may encourage your hearts. 9 He is coming with Onesimus, our faithful and dear brother, who is one of you. They will tell you everything that is happening here. 10 My fellow prisoner Aristarchus sends you his greetings, as does Mark, the cousin of Barnabas. (You have received instructions about him; if he comes to you, welcome him.) 11 Jesus, who is called Justus, also sends greetings. These are the only Jews[c] among my co-workers for the kingdom of God, and they have proved a comfort to me. 12 Epaphras, who is one of you and a servant of Christ Jesus, sends greetings. He is always wrestling in prayer for you, that you may stand firm in all the will of God, mature and fully assured. 13 I vouch for him that he is working hard for you and for those at Laodicea and Hierapolis. 14 Our dear friend Luke, the doctor, and Demas send greetings. 15 Give my greetings to the brothers and sisters at Laodicea, and to Nympha and the church in her house. 16 After this letter has been read to you, see that it is also read in the church of the Laodiceans and that you in turn read the letter from Laodicea. 17 Tell Archippus: “See to it that you complete the ministry you have received in the Lord.” 18 I, Paul, write this greeting in my own hand. Remember my chains. Grace be with you.
