Drawing on 1 Peter 2:9-10, Pastor Peter highlights that believers are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, and a holy nation called out of darkness into marvelous light. He clarifies that while the price of admission into Jesus's body has already been paid by His finished work on the cross, the cost of community is not the price of entry but the necessity of stewarding the precious gift we've been given as the body of Christ. True community moves beyond simply seeking fellowship to understanding its four biblical dimensions: Gathering, Congregation, Koinonia (participation/fellowship), and Eklesia (assembly), recognizing that common unity is found in the communion of the saints. The central point is that the church belongs to the Lord, not to any person, and that Jesus paid the cost for community, removing the wall of hostility by his death (Ephesians 2:15). Pastor Peter argues that the ultimate cost of community is Pentecost, asserting that nothing less than an outpouring of the Holy Spirit can wash away the sin that separates us and change our hearts to love one another. This Spirit-led bond is exemplified by the devotion of Ruth (Ruth 1:16), the formation of the early church (Acts 2:42-47), and the 1727 Moravian Pentecost, which transformed a divided group into a community of devotion.

In this insightful message, Pastor Peter delves into the profound truth of 1 Corinthians 3:16, emphasizing that "you are the temple where God's spirit dwells", clarifying that "you" is plural, meaning "y'all" – the church collectively. He explains that God's Spirit is actively "at work," "powerful," and "very productive on the mission of God," likening His work to a "construction project" building lives, families, and communities into a temple for His presence. While God's Spirit is unseen and prepares us, God's tangible "presence" is when "God appears, when God shows up, when God's power is on display". The church's journey is a progression from being God's "field" to His "building" and finally to His "temple". Paul's letter to Corinth urges the church to stop "tearing each other apart" and instead engage in "edification," a "construction word" meaning "to build up one another," promoting unity, purity, and maturity. Everyone is called to be a "fellow worker" with God, actively participating in this building, with Jesus Christ as the only foundation (1 Corinthians 3:11), knowing their "labor is not in vain in the Lord" (1 Corinthians 15) as they collaborate on an eternal temple.
