Seventh chapter of the Book of Daniel

Daniel 7 records one of the most dramatic visions in Scripture. In it, the prophet Daniel sees the Ancient of Days seated on a heavenly throne while “one like the Son of Man” approaches Him and receives an everlasting kingdom. This passage raises an important theological question: Does this vision reveal two distinct divine persons, or is it portraying something else?In this episode of Apostolic Life in the 21st Century, Dr. David K. Bernard examines Daniel 7:9-28 and addresses a common challenge raised against Oneness theology. He explores the identities of the Ancient of Days and the Son of Man and discusses whether Daniel's vision teaches the preexistence of the Son as a separate divine person. Along the way, Dr. Bernard considers what Daniel's prophecy reveals about the Messiah, the Incarnation, and the relationship between Jesus Christ and the Father.Whether you are studying the Godhead, exploring the differences between Trinitarian and Oneness theology, or seeking a deeper understanding of one of Scripture's most fascinating prophetic visions, this episode offers a thoughtful examination of a frequently debated passage.Apostolic Life in the 21st Century with Dr. David K. Daniel 7 is not a gentle passage. It is a storm at sea, a parade of beasts, a boastful horn, and a vision so intense that even Daniel, the man known for calm confidence, admits he is anxious and alarmed. That honesty opens a door for anyone who has ever thought, “I'm not myself right now,” and wondered what faith looks like when your usual steadiness disappears. We walk through the imagery with care, starting with why the “great sea” signals chaos in the biblical imagination and why the beasts feel like jump scares on purpose. We talk about how many interpreters connect the four beasts to real empires like Babylon, Medo-Persia, Greece under Alexander the Great, and Rome, and why prophecy is not meant to feed panic but to form resilient hope. Then the camera cuts to the throne room: the Ancient of Days takes His seat, the court sits in judgment, and the books are opened. While the world churns, God is not rattled. People have been predicting the 2nd coming of Christ since the very first century. And they all have one thing in common - they've all been 100% wrong! But that doesn't stop people today from thinking they've got it all figured out, and unfortunately they find an audience in those who are desperate for signs of hope. Our true hope can only be found in Jesus, not in false teachers and preachers who are really just con artists. Find out more in this episode of Gospel Wabi Sabi.

Daniel 7:1-14
Every kingdom on earth promises power, security, and satisfaction, but like the terrifying beasts of Daniel 7, they are ultimately driven by human desire and are never worthy of our worship. In a world filled with chaos, anxiety, and uncertainty, Daniel's vision reminds us that there is still an Ancient of Days seated on the throne who judges perfectly and rules justly. And when life feels overwhelming, our anxious moments become opportunities to remember that Jesus, the Son of Man, is God, and we are not.--Sermon by Pastor Nate Click--New to Heritage? Jacob Glass walks through the first three beasts of Daniel 7 and what they actually represent. In this episode, we break down the lion, the bear, and the leopard—showing how these symbolic visions point directly to real historical kingdoms: Babylon, Medo-Persia, and Greece. Along the way, we explore the meaning of the four winds, the great sea, and why Daniel’s visions are not strictly chronological.Rather than speculation about the distant future, Daniel 7 reveals how God sovereignly raises up and judges nations throughout history. If you’ve ever wondered what these beasts really mean, this is a clear and grounded explanation rooted in Scripture.

When the world feels chaotic and kingdoms rise and fall, God's authority remains unshaken. Pastor Ben Palka walks through Daniel 7, unpacking Daniel's vision of powerful beasts, earthly empires, and the coming Son of Man. The passage reminds us that while earthly kingdoms are temporary and often terrifying, God's kingdom is eternal and secure. We are invited to place our hope not in what we see, but in the everlasting reign of the Most High.
Dave Osborne preaches Daniel 7 at Christ Presbyterian Church on March 1, 2026.
