Proverbs has a lot to say about our speech habits (our tongue, mouth, lips). Most of us learn habits of speech that we have to unlearn and replace if we are going to grow into the Godly Wisdom that Proverbs invites us into. Three habits in particular include airing our opinions, lying, and gossip. It is one thing to try and stop doing those things, but replacing those habits with healthier habits will help us begin to truly experience transformation.

How many of us want to move forward but feel stagnant, running in so many directions and doing so many things? Eventually, we realize we are not moving forward the way we would like or the way we thought we were. Many people use the phrase: “I am hitting up against a wall.” This means there are obstacles in the way, you're going nowhere, and you are stagnant. This is a sign that you are going the wrong way or doing the wrong things. It's like driving on the road and looking for the turn you're supposed to take. You can tell the turn should have come up by now, but it's taking too long. All the signs are pointing to something being wrong. This means it's time to pause, conserve your energy, and regather yourself to come up with a new plan that works — because what you're doing is not working. All your efforts, all your knowledge, and all your information are leading you to a dead end. Truly, God is trying to tell you something. Those who are listening can hear God. Those who are not listening can see the signs by now. The big sign in your life is this: something is wrong. We discuss the following topics:- What are the obstacles that can be in your way?- Who is God in your life?- Understand that Jesus, who is bigger and wiser than you, is in control.- The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. This program covers the following Scriptures from the Amplified Classic version (AMPC): Hebrews 6, Judges 18:5-6, 2 Samuel 2:1, Judges 20:18, 1 Samuel 28:6, 2 Chronicles 34:21, Exodus 20:3, Jeremiah 29:12-13, Proverbs 3:5-6, Proverbs 3:7, Isaiah 55:7-9, Proverbs 4:7, Job 38:1-18, Proverbs 4:1-2, Proverbs 4:5-13, Zachariah 4:6, Job 40:1-10, Job 42:2-6, Job 37:14-24.Support the showClick Here to Send Us Your Prayer Request.

In this sermon, Pastor Mack Jarvis teaches about the value of Godly wisdom and how a believer can navigate through a godless world.
In a world filled with information, knowledge is easy to find—but wisdom is much harder to obtain. Ideas and philosophies often come packaged attractively, appearing thoughtful, progressive, or insightful. Yet appearances can be misleading. Just as a beautifully designed book may contain poor content, teachings that seem appealing can still lead us away from truth. The Bible reminds us that true wisdom has a very specific starting point: “The fear of the Lord—that is wisdom” (Job 28:28). This “fear” is not terror, but reverence—a deep respect for God’s authority, holiness, and truth. It means recognizing that God’s understanding far surpasses our own. From the very beginning, humanity has struggled to distinguish between worldly knowledge and godly wisdom. In the Garden of Eden, the serpent presented deception in an appealing way, making disobedience appear wise and desirable. That same pattern continues today. Sin often looks attractive, and worldly ideas are frequently praised as enlightened or progressive. Yet Scripture consistently points us in another direction. Godly wisdom flows from knowing God and aligning our lives with His Word. It is cultivated through studying Scripture, praying for understanding, and surrounding ourselves with voices that strengthen our faith. Sometimes choosing God’s wisdom may look foolish to the world. Obedience, humility, and holiness are not always celebrated in modern culture. But what appears foolish to the world is often the path of true wisdom before God. The greatest treasure we can pursue is not influence, wealth, or intellectual achievement—it is a heart that reveres God and seeks His truth. When we begin there, our choices, priorities, and understanding start to align with His perfect wisdom. Main Takeaways Knowledge is abundant, but true wisdom comes from God. The fear of the Lord—reverence and obedience—is the beginning of wisdom. Worldly ideas can appear appealing but may lead away from truth. Godly wisdom grows through Scripture, prayer, and faithful community. Obedience to God may seem foolish to the world but reflects true wisdom. Today’s Bible Verse “Where then does wisdom come from? Where does understanding dwell? … And he said to the human race, ‘The fear of the Lord—that is wisdom, and to shun evil is understanding” (Job 28:20, 28, NIV). Series Title: Faith that Works Scripture Passage: James 3:13-18 Stream Date: March 1, 2026
Week three of our Book of James series. This week we look at the two main themes of James chapter 3 - Power of the tongue & Godly Wisdom (wise people do wise things).
Amongst the many notable lives of leaders brought to us in the Bible, the life of King Solomon stands out. Not everything in his life is worthy of imitation, but other aspects of his life seem clearly to indicate the plan of God for us. And one of those aspects in particular is the benefits that God shows for those who possess wisdom. In this our second episode on King Solomon we look at the benefits of Godly wisdom in his life and compare it to the wisdom we find in Christ.
February 1, 2026. Pastor Zach Vaughn. www.machiasvalley.org. Title: "Godly Wisdom and How to Get It" Text: Proverbs 1:1-7 Sermon Points: 1) Godly wisdom includes insight, instruction, seeking what is right and just, prudence, discretion, and guidance. 2) The fear of the Lord is the way to gain this wisdom. 3) We have two choices: the path of the wise or the path of the fool.
In today's devotional, Dr. Michael A. Youssef considers the choices of Abraham and Lot as indications of what they treasure. If you would like more insight into today's devotional topic, listen to Dr. Michael A. Youssef's sermon Counting Stars in an Empty Sky, Part 4: LISTEN NOW
The Bible tells us that wisdom is more valuable than rubies and that nothing we desire can compare with it. (Proverbs 8:11)We are also told that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. (Proverbs 9:11)If wisdom is the principal thing (Proverbs 4:7), we must pursue and grow in Godly wisdom this year. So what is wisdom? Before we tackle wisdom, I think it's important to understand what comes before wisdom as you grow in your Christian character. The path to wisdom begins with knowledge, which leads to understanding and ultimately to wisdom.Knowledge, simply put, is what you know. When you first become a believer, you know very little. As you grow in spiritual disciplines like reading the Word, your knowledge—what you know—about the Word growsUnderstanding comes next as you start to see how things connect within what you are learning and what it means. Context comes, and clarity and insight are developed so that you can connect it to your real-life experiences.Just like when you learned at some point in your life that “words can hurt people.” Understanding was developed when you could see how certain words could damage relationships and erode trust.Wisdom comes last as a result of applying what you know and understand to your life. Like in the previous example of knowing that words can hurt people, wisdom is gained when you begin to choose the words you use when speaking into your life or someone else's.To sum it all up in another way:Knowledge: What I knowUnderstanding: What it means Wisdom: How I live it outRead the rest at: https://open.substack.com/pub/litwithprayer/p/walking-in-godly-wisdom?r=5sajy&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web&showWelcomeOnShare=true

What does it truly mean to live wisely—especially during the Christmas season? In this message, Pastor Mark Cummins unpacks the journey of the Magi in Matthew 2 to discover what Biblical wisdom really looks like. Their story shows us that Biblical wisdom is more than knowledge... it's faith in action, obedience to God's leading, and a life that ultimately ends in worship of Jesus. This message explores how God's light: • Reveals hidden motives and calls us to authentic faith • Guides those who are willing to follow, step by step • Always leads us to Jesus • Produces generosity with our time, talents, and resourcesThe Magi followed the light they were given—and it changed everything. This Christmas, the same invitation stands before us: walk in wisdom, follow God's light, and let your journey lead you to Jesus.
In this episode of Uncommon Sense, I'm discussing my changing views on Israel, Donald Trump, and Candace Owens and why principles grounded in Scripture must always matter more than personalities.I'll discuss how easy it is to get swept up in political figures, influencers, and movements… all while forgetting that God alone is who we should be following. The devil is just like a stalker prowling around, watching, scheming, seeking someone to devour. And in these chaotic times, he's using deception, manipulation, and emotional brainwashing to pull people into confusion and ultimately into Hell.In this episode, we're talking about how the synagogue of Satan is operating openly today, pushing narratives meant to distract and divide. I am urging my listeners to stay anchored in the Word, remain spiritually alert, and refuse to be seduced by personalities, platforms, or “conservative celebrities” who very well may not be aligned with God's truth.Ultimately, we all need to return to the Bible (now more than ever) and to guard our minds and souls as the days grow darker and darker.--https://www.bible.com/
Feeling pulled in a hundred directions? In this message, Pastor Eric Robertson will be sharing how the Wonderful Counselor can cut through all of the noise. King Ahaz (2 Kings 16:1-20) became the King of Judah at 20 years old. The nation of Israel was fractured after Solomon's reign. The Northern Kingdom and their alliances made Judah unstable. Isaiah tells Ahaz and the nation to repent and return to God, then God will deal with the Northern Kingdom (Isaiah 7:8–9). Ahaz refuses and instead creates an unholy alliance with Assyria, using the temple's gold and silver as payment. Assyria helps Ahaz defeat the North, but Ahaz began worshipping Assyrian gods (1 Kings 16:15–19.What does this have to do with Christmas? After Ahaz rejects God's counsel, Isaiah prophesies again:Isaiah 9:6–7For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace... He will reign on David's throne... with justice and righteousness... The zeal of the Lord Almighty will accomplish this.God will solve not only Israel's problems but the world's problems... with a child. In this series, we will look at the four names of this child and see how the names of Jesus can still save the world and save you.God's Got a PlanWe hear Wonderful Counselor and think Jesus is simply someone we vent to, but what if He is your strategist? "Wonderful Counselor" in Hebrew is:peleʾ—divine, miraculous, beyond comprehensionyoʿetz—counselor or strategistWhy the Confusion? We don't have a handful of trusted voices—we have many, and we're faithful to none.We don't want to get things wrong. We want to control outcomes without owning failures. Result... analysis paralysis. Jesus becomes a voice among many. What are we missing? The issue isn't a lack of strategies but too many, and we aren't committed to the one that matters. Our spiritual lives aren't led by King Jesus but by worldly advisors. The names given to Jesus in Isaiah 9 are names of God. Ahaz's willingness to adopt any counsel made him unable to live out his calling. The way of Jesus is not one way among many—it is the ONLY way.Jesus is not just an Advisor; He is The Advisor. His way works only when we fully commit.Matthew 13:44–45 — We don't add the Gospel; we sell the farm and buy the field.Matthew 16:24–26 — We need single-hearted obedience. God's wisdom often contradicts the world's.When we are faithful to God's counsel, we receive God's outcome.Next Steps: One Way, One Voice, One CounselorPick ONE thing God is dealing with you about and obey.Remove ONE voice that weakens your walk.Give God ONE moment of undivided attention daily. Are you following the Wonderful Counsel of Jesus?

Today we're trashing feminism some more, because it obviously deserves it. Feminism is not only unbiblical, it's extremely destructive for all of society. We'll talk about why Christian podcasters like Allie Beth Stuckey shouldn't defend their feminism while claiming to follow Christ, and why Christianity itself is a patriarchy, by God's design. It's time for biblical men to stop waiting for permission from feminists and take back the authority God gave them. We'll also discuss more of the Trump administration's mistakes, including this ridiculous new 50-year mortgage idea that proves how far from wisdom our leaders have fallen.

There's more going on in that infamous Republicans groupchat than most realize but the real issue isn't the gossip, it's how easily people trade conviction for comfort. What if the one prayer that changes everything isn't for more money, influence, or success - but for wisdom? Guest speaker Dr. Dave Martin unpacks Solomon's encounter with God (1 Kings 3) and shows why godly wisdom is the master key that unlocks better relationships, career success, influence, and yes - prosperity with purpose. This message reframes “prosperity” biblically (to do well) and calls us to live blessed to be a blessing, shifting from accumulation to kingdom distribution. You'll learn how God prospers us for three clear reasons:Provision (financial peace, not constant stress)Generosity (the joy of refreshing others – Proverbs 11:24–25)Kingdom Expansion (fueling the mission so more people meet Jesus)Along the way, Dr. Dave shares practical stories, humor, and Scripture to build a cathedral mindset that blesses generations.
In this week's Bible study on Daniel 5, Nicole unpacks the famous scene of the writing on the wall and shows how it exposes the danger of pride, the fragility of earthly empires, and the steady faithfulness God calls us to in “upside-down” cultures. You’ll see how Daniel models faithful service over time, refuses worldly rewards, and operates with wisdom from above—a pattern modern disciples can emulate at work, at home, and in leadership. Nicole also highlights historical notes that parallel Scripture and offers a simple four-question framework (“ALIVE Method”) to help you study any passage with clarity and confidence. Daniel shows how to serve faithfully across regimes without compromising devotion to God. Choose the right reward system.
