Comprehensive, Reasonable Analysis of Cleveland Browns Football. (Except when we\'re unhinged.)
FOOOOOOOOOOTBAAAAAALLLLLLL!!!!! Well, sort of. Join Ryan Burns and Brendan Leister for a check-in on training camp as the Browns get ready for their first genuinely meaningful season in years. Let's do this.
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dawn in Cleveland. Welcome back, friends. Join Ryan Burns and Brendan Leister for the first podcast of a new era.
We made it! Training camp is here, Hard Knocks is about to begin, Real Football Players (tm) are in Berea...it's all happening. Join Ryan Burns and Brendan Leister for a fun little primer episode on the eve of camp. WOOF!!!
"I'm gonna get MORE than just SOME." -Baker Mayfield John Dorsey and his merry band of ex-Packs have staked their claim. Baker Mayfield is the future of the Browns, and that will cause much pretzel-twisting in the Browns media world. Be that as it may, we're here just to talk about the draft in a reasoned, enjoyable fashion. If that happens to be your particular brand of rum, pull up a chair, grab a box of dog biscuits and enjoy as Ryan Burns and Brendan Leister ramble on incessantly but pleasantly about the draft. 2 hours of draft review fun. WOOF!
With fewer than 48 hours to go, join Ryan Burns and Brendan Leister for their final thoughts heading into draft weekend.
We're going OLD SCHOOL for this episode, as the OG FootballSickness voices team up to make a homerish yet persuasive case for Josh Rosen as QB1. Join Ryan Burns and Sen Sogah for a trip through time, a brief celebration of the Dog's Super Bowl experience via his Eagles, and their observations of Josh Rosen's UCLA career. You'll have to dig through some program underachievement bitterness from two UCLA lifers, but if you listen closely you'll hear why we think Rosen is the man. Kick back, grab some MilkBonz and enjoy. WOOF!!
When a QB dominates the competition for the duration and to the extent that Lamar Jackson did, you expect to at least hear his name in the conversation when the #1 overall pick belongs to the league's most QB-desperate franchise. And yet, nary a word of Lamar Jackson. We're here to fix that. Join Ryan Burns and special guest Matt Waldman as the latter makes the case for Lamar Jackson. If you enjoyed our first run with Matt a couple of weeks ago, you'll love this one. Have a click and a listen. Go Browns...WOOF!!!
There's so much Browns news, you'd never know it was the offseason. Joe Thomas called it a career after 10,363. The Browns went nuts in free agency. And of course, the QB wars wage on. Join Ryan Burns and Brendan Leister as the latter makes the case for Sam Darnold (and goofs on a stat and gets busted for it). But seriously, the case for Darnold is persuasive. Get comfortable with it. Go Browns...WOOF!
They're coming fast and furious this pre-draft season. After all, when you have eleventy-billion picks and a lot of needs and a lot of money, the offseason is the time when things are liable to happen that may ultimately be the most exciting of your football 2018. Such is life as a Browns fan. But we're going to inject a little passion for you. Pete Smith is on this episode to bring the case for one Baker Mayfield as Browns QB of the future. The first in a series of podcasts on each of the QB's, Pete's appearance sets a high bar. In addition to the QB, we dig in with Pete on the recent trades and the status of the Browns in the trenches. This is wall-to-wall goodness on the Browns Note Podcast. Bone up. WOOF!
The intended content of this podcast changed rapidly on Friday, as the trades came through fast and furious. Join Ryan Burns (@FtblSickness) and Brendan Leister (@brendanleister) for first-blush (read: devoid of forethought) reactions, as well as a handful of twitter mailbag questions from you, our *expansive* international listening audience. We do appreciate y'all. Have a click and a listen. WOOF!
As Eddie Vedder once said: This one's for the serious collector. Longtime Sickness favorite Matt Waldman (@MattWaldman) joins Ryan Burns (@FtblSickness) to talk Browns and ball. We chatted for a couple hours, and there's something for everyone- philosophical origins, operations analysis, evaluation process, old school Browns-related war stories...and of course: the incoming rookie offensive skill players. Matt's focus for his Rookie Scouting Portfolio every year, he brings some of that goodness to the audio menu here at the Browns Note. Enjoy!
No. Sincerely. WTF do you mean? You'll have to wade through a half hour of small talk to get to the good stuff, but the rants on the "pass on QB at 1 and take him at 4" concept kick in about 2/3 of the way through and carry it home. Go Browns. WOOF.
After a year-long hiatus, the Browns Note is back. We figure covering the debacle that was 2017 in about 20 minutes at the outset is way more tolerable than living through it in full stereo week after week. And, since it has been a year, we felt free to ramble on inexcusably. Two hours of Ryan Burns and Brendan Leister talking Browns football, with heavy attention paid to the quarterback position, as ever. Come for the lucid takes on the Haslam era, stay for the QB discussion. GO BROWNS. WOOF!
We're back! It took us awhile to crawl bloodied and beaten from the ashes of 2016. But hope springs eternal, and here comes the draft, complete with a boatload of Browns picks to give us false faith yet again. Join Ryan Burns, Brendan Leister and Pete Smith to talk needs, targets, and, of course, quarterbacks. Enjoy! (Or, don't. It's Browns football, after all.)
Well, THIS has been a fun couple of weeks to start the season, eh? Just when you think to yourself, "why the hell am I *still* following this team?" they go and do THIS. Ok, so maybe it hasn't been all redemption and rose petals. But there are a couple of silver linings in the trash cloud, and we'll try to point them out to you. It's the least we can do. Get your helmet and dog biscuits. We're gonna need 'em.
Welcome back to Browns football, where hope springs eternal...or at least through mid-September. Join Ryan Burns along with Brendan Leister, Pete Smith and Sen Sogah to preview the Browns 2016 season and the week 1 tilt against the Eagles. Settle in for a long one- it's been awhile, and we need to catch up. Better double up on the dog biscuits. WOOF!!
Join Ryan Burns and Pete Smith for in-depth review of all 8,364,972 Cleveland Browns 2016 draft picks, discussion of the trades down, and general observations of the impact of this rookie class on the Dawg Pound squad for 2016. Buckle up. WOOF.
The Draft is upon us! After a hiatus, the Browns Note is back. Join Ryan Burns, Brendan Leister and Pete Smith for all the draft possibilities, hopes and fears. WOOF!!!
Ch-ch-changes...
As we bid good riddance to another Browns season, another offseason of massive change appears on the horizon. Join Ryan Burns and Pete Smith as they discuss the uncertainty, the possibilities, and maybe even a little bit about the football game to come on Sunday against the Steelers. You'll need extra biscuits to get through this one. WOOF!
VICTORY! A 24-10 win over the Niners was most welcome this past Sunday, if only for purposes of breaking up the monotony of the march to the #1 overall pick. But there were things to be quite pleased with as Browns fans. The young QB took another step. The defense put together 60 minutes of defensive football. And the W in front of the home crowd. All good things. What say we head to Seattle? Yikes. This could be the entire pendulum swing in a one-week period. Let's talk about our pleasures and fears on this week's BROWNS NOTE PODCAST. WOOF!
As another disappointing season enters its final quarter (the TRUE quarter pole), Browns fans have to scrounge for positives and reasons to keep paying attention. We won't lie to you: we don't have much after that drubbing in the (non-)Battle of Ohio. But we'll give it a go. After all, they're going back to Johnny and the 4-8 Niners are in town, along with The Manguin, which could make for an interesting battle of wits. Join Ryan Burns and Brendan Leister for the latest Browns Note Podcast.
Another podcast full of WELP. Coming off the latest Manziel fiasco, the Browns lost in historic and absurdly Brownsy fashion on Monday to the hated Ravens, leaving them at 2-9 and in a free-fall toward the #1 pick (Yaaaaaay). And, fortunately, they get to welcome in the 10-1 Bengals for Austin Davis' first start. Nothing but optimism this week, y'all. Join Ryan Burns and Brendan Leister for all the good times. WOOF.
On this bye week special, Ryan Burns talks with Brendan Leister, Justin Higdon and Pete Smith in three broad and detailed conversations on the State of the Browns. A little longer than usual, so sit back, relax, and try to find some silver linings. Heh. GO BROWNS.
Another brutal loss. ANOTHER. And so it goes. But here's to tonight. It's Johnny Time(?)! GO BROWNS.
Coming off another extremely Brownsy loss to the (dammit) Denver Broncos, the Browns travel to St. Louis to take on a fierce Rams defense and a fantastic rush game led by Todd Gurley. Join Ryan Burns and Brendan Leister as they look back at the Broncos loss, discuss the ongoing defensive issues, and look forward to the Rams. GO BROWNS! WOOF!!
VICTORY IN BALTIMORE!! But let's get past it quick, because Peyton Manning is coming to town and bringing the league's best defense with him. Join Ryan Burns and Brendan Leister for all the Dawg Pound talk.
Just another in a long line of heartbreaking Browns losses, or a tough game out west evidencing positives to build on? A little of both, if you ask us. Join Ryan Burns and Pete Smith as they break down the Chargers game and look ahead to Sunday's tilt with the hated Baltimore Ravens. Grab your Milk Bonz and suds. This one's big. WOOF!!
Coming off a bad-taste-leaving loss to the Oakland Raiders at home, the Browns travel across country to San Diego, where a battered Chargers team coming off two straight losses awaits. Special guest Pete Smith joins Ryan Burns to break it all down in advance of the trip out west. GO BROWNS!!
Everything got WAY more interesting this past weekend, as Johnny's performance forced us all to re-evaluate what is best for the kid and for the team and for the organization. Is it the same thing in all three cases? We'll talk about all of it. Plus, a look back at Tennessee beyond the QB play, and a look ahead at the Raiders game this week, including fantastic intel from our old friend Chris Hansen. Should be a fun one this week, and we went deep on it. WOOF!!
After what can only be described as an inauspicious beginning, the Browns come home to welcome the hot rookie QB who torched the Bucs in week 1. CAN THERE BE ANY HOPE?? Duh. Look, it went poorly last week, there's no way around that. But there were some good things too, and it might not have been quite as total a disaster as you imagined. But the ship needs to be righted, and pronto. Join Ryan Burns and Brendan Leister to discuss what happened and what needs to happen. Bring your own dog biscuits. WOOF!!
