Super Bowl 60 Review Game Review - Seahawks won their second SB in franchise history beating the Patriots 29-13- Pats punted on their first 6 drives of the game - Jason Myers kicked 3 FG in the first half to give the Seahawks a 9-0 lead - Kenneth Walker had a 30 and 29 yard run on one of the drives that were huge plays for the Seahawks - After another Pats punt in the 3rd, Seahawks take get another FG to go up 12-0 - At this point in the game I was thinking would there be any TDs in the game - Both defense were playing with their hair on fire - Drake Maye was under siege the entire game, didn't play well - Darnold didn't play that good either, but he did great job managing the game - At the end of the 3rd quarter Maye is sacked by Derick Hall and DT Byron Murphy recovers the fumble - Getting the ball at NE 37, the Seahawks finally put together a drive and score a TD 16 yard AJ Barner TD - At this point I knew the game was over- However, on the next drive, Maye hits Mack Hollins on two 30 yard bombs to cut the deficit to 19-7- Seahawks punt on their next drive - Pats after the punt, gets the ball back, and Maye throws a terrible pick to Julian Love - Seahawks get another FG to go up 22-7 - Next Pat drive, Maye throws the kiss of death pick 6 to Uchenna Nwosu to seal the game Biggest Takeways From the Game - Seahawks winning this proved you don't need a young genius offense coach to win a SB - Seahawks defense really were the MVPs of the game, Pats really sustain any drives all night - Drake Maye put up one of the worse playoffs runs for at least 3 games in a postseason since 2000 - With hindsight, you would think a defense of coach is going to make a young QB feel uncomfortable and that is what happened Winners and Losers

Thank goodness for the Winter Olympics! Super Bowl? More like Super Boring… Sam Darnold, what a redemption story. From dead and buried on the Jets, to Champion. Seattle Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold experienced a bittersweet Super Bowl victory. Despite winning the championship, he lost approximately $249,000 due to California's 'jock tax.' This tax, calculated based on duty days spent in the state, disproportionately affects athletes playing in California. Former NFL quarterback Boomer Esiason has criticized the tax and urged the NFL Players Association to avoid holding future Super Bowls in California until the policy changes. Several other states also impose a jock tax, but California's rate is the highest. This financial hit raises questions about fairness and the impact of state taxes on professional athletes, and whether it incentivizes them to play elsewhere. California's policies might drive away talent and revenue.

Join Jim and Greg for the Wednesday 3 Martini Lunch as they react to a chaotic House oversight hearing on ICE operations, the federal government's sudden halt and restart of flights in El Paso, and California's controversial “jock tax” that reportedly cost Seattle's quarterback more than he earned for winning the Super Bowl.First, they break down the theatrics from Tuesday's House immigration hearing, where Democrats grilled ICE Director Todd Lyons over enforcement actions. New Jersey Rep. LaMonica McIver went so far as to ask Lyons whether he believed he was going to Hell for ICE's policies. Jim notes the absurdity of her questions and the massive double standard Democrats emply on matters of faith.Next, they scratch their heads as the Federal Aviation Administration orders a 10-day clearance of air space around El Paso, Texas. But a few hours later, the order was lifted. At the time Jim and Greg recorded, the official explanation was the incursion of a drone from a Mexican cartel. Since then the explanations have only gotten more strange. Finally, they comment on the insanity of California's "jock tax" which cost Seattle Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold roughly $71,000 more than he earned for winning the game. Jim and Greg discuss how extreme this policy is and how these sorts of laws could impact the success of certain teams down the road. Please visit our great sponsors:Upgrade your sleep with Brooklyn Bedding and get 30% off sitewide at https://BrooklynBedding.com when you use promo code 3ML at checkout.Find your way forward with BetterHelp when you sign up at https://www.BetterHelp.com/3ML to get 10% off your first month.Upgrade your wardrobe with Mizzen & Main — get 20% off your first purchase at https://MizzenandMain.com with promo code 3ML20.New episodes every weekday.

There will be a new face in the FBS for the 2026 season as FCS powerhouse North Dakota State is making the leap. The 10-time FCS National Champions will be joining the Mountain West Conference. Andy Staples and Steven Godfrey discuss if they think this is the right move for the Bison. The guys chat about what exactly the team is giving up to make this move, what they have to gain, and if they think North Dakota State can be successful. Plus, they also discuss the latest in the Charles Bediako case. He is no longer eligible to play for Alabama after a judge denied his most recent injunction request. Andy and Godfrey discuss what this means going forward. Then, the guys take a quick look at the NFL in comparison to college football. After being a back-up in San Francisco, he found success as a starter for the Minnesota Vikings and now is a Super Bowl champion with the Seattle Seahawks. Andy and Godfrey look at the college landscape and discuss if there are any transfer quarterbacks that may have a similar redemption story in 2026. Later, the guys continue to look at the transfer quarterbacks, but through a different lens. Last episode, Godfrey compared Fernando Mendoza to a certified, pre-owned Honda. This was meant as a compliment. Now, they look at the transfer quarterbacks for 2026 and compare seven QBs to used cars. Seattle's win reframes the path for Detroit Seattle lifted the Lombardi, and the day after on the Detroit Lions Podcast Jeff Risdon laid it out plainly. The Detroit Lions can follow that model. He even circled February 15 next year as a date this city can chase. Seattle went 10-7 in 2024 and missed the playoffs. They moved on from Pete Carroll. They swapped Geno Smith for Sam Darnold, a quarterback with a lower floor but a higher ceiling. Many mocked that decision. Darnold just won the Super Bowl. That matters for the NFL and for the Lions. Jared Goff can do what Darnold did. Goff is better than Darnold. He does not need to be a lottery-ticket quarterback to win. The league's trend line says a really good team that wins in multiple ways can take it all. That is where Detroit lives. What Seattle did, and how Detroit matches it Seattle won with an exceptional defense. They mixed coverages. Jones and the safeties were disciplined. Devon Witherspoon filled a Brian Branch type of role. The Seahawks generated pressure by committee. No single alpha, but several rushers affected the pocket. It looked more like how the Eagles win than how Detroit typically rushes, but the approach travels in January. On offense, Seattle leaned on a power run game. Kenneth Walker was the MVP. His jump-cut and bounce outside when a linebacker filled the gap flipped downs. Jahmyr Gibbs can do that. He already has. A rookie offensive lineman, Dion Grey Campbell, stepped in and helped. If the Lions are healthy, their line is not behind that group. Taylor Decker's health was a problem last year, but the baseline is strong. Jackson Smith-Njigba took home NFL Offensive Player of the Year. He earned it. Is he that much better than Amon-Ra St. Brown? Different styles, same tier of impact. A healthy Sam LaPorta stacks up better than any tight end Seattle put out there. AJ Barnes, the Michigan man, even snared a touchdown. Detroit has that complementary piece in Brock Wright. The checklist to make it real in Detroit The Lions are close, and the NFL is moving toward how they are built. It still requires boxes checked. Injury luck. A very good Jared Goff season. A strong offseason. Brian Branch getting healthy quickly. More versatility in coverage and sustained pass-rush depth so the pressure never fades, even without one headline star. None of this guarantees a parade. But Seattle proved the window is open for teams like these Lions. The path is not theoretical. It is on film, and Detroit has the personnel to walk it. #detroitlions #lions #detroitlionspodcast #seattleseahawks #samdarnold #genosmith #jaredgoff #jalenhurts #brianbranch #jahmyrgibbs #kennethwalker #devonwitherspoon Learn more about your ad choices.
