Zubayr Ibn al-Awaam رضي الله عنه (S54) Zubayr's رضي الله عنه bravery at the battle of the trench: ~10,000 men launched an attack against Madinah, aiming to finish the Messenger ﷺ and Islam. The Jews went to the Quraysh to get a larger force. Zubayr رضي الله عنه was ~26 years old here. As is known, the trench was dug. The disbelievers couldn't get through, so duels occurred. Nawfal Ibn Abdullah was from Banu Makzoom, he challenged for a duel. Zubayr رضي الله عنه accepted. He رضي الله عنه struck him so hard Nawfal was split in half and Zubayr's رضي الله عنه sword was dented. He رضي الله عنه recited some poetry: “I defend myself and I defend the chosen one, the ummi one (ﷺ)”. Ali رضي الله عنه: “The bravest man was az-Zubayr. It takes a man to know another man's worth”. The champions of the Companions رضي الله عنهم were 3: Hamza, Ali and Zubayr رضي الله عنهم.
Huxley is an example of having a good attitude about publicly acknowledging errors and learning from them. He earned the nickname “Darwin’s bulldog” for his very vocal support of Darwin’s work, and he wanted to promote science and education, particularly to people that didn’t normally have access to those things. Nick Lloyd continues: by late 1915, commanders on both sides realized that the trench deadlock could not be easily shattered through traditional maneuvers. During the Second Battle of Champagne, the French and Germans engaged in a constant evolution of defensive and offensive technology, with the Germans thickening their lines with pillboxes, machine guns, and barbed wire in response to massive Allied artillery barrages. Lloyd emphasizes that the war's complexity forced a logical but painful shift in thinking as the dream of a grand "shattering breakthrough" faded into a grim reality of local gains. Amidst this carnage, figures like General Castelnau emerged, representing the human side of high command; a deeply religious man who personally suffered the loss of three sons, he serves as a counterpoint to the cliché of "cardboard cutout" generals. This narrative seeks to bring these individuals to life, showing them as humans wrestling with the desolation and horror of a war they could not easily win. (2)MONASH

For years, Aquaman was one of DC Comics' most misunderstood heroes, weighed down by outdated stereotypes and pop culture jokes. Then Geoff Johns completely reinvented the King of Atlantis with a critically acclaimed run that restored Arthur Curry as one of DC's greatest icons. In this video, we break down how Geoff Johns' Aquaman transformed the character, from embracing the classic jokes to rebuilding Atlantis, introducing memorable new villains like the Trench, redefining Aquaman's relationships, and reminding readers why he belongs alongside Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman as one of DC's premier heroes. We also discuss the lasting impact of Johns' run on modern Aquaman stories and why it remains the definitive starting point for new readers. If you're a fan of DC Comics, Aquaman, or comic book history, this is a discussion you won't want to miss.Thank you so much for watching and be sure to share the stream! Wednesday, 22 July 2026 He answered and said, ‘I will not,' but afterward he regretted it and went. Matthew 21:29 “The ‘also answering', he said, ‘Not, I will.' Afterward, also, having regretted, he went.” (CG) The previous verse noted that Jesus asked the leaders about a man with two sons. The man went to the first and asked him to go work in the vineyard. The son's response is next recorded by Matthew, saying, “The ‘also answering', he said, ‘Not, I will.'” Without hesitation, the son refuses to go. His attitude is reflected in the abrupt, disrespectful response. There wasn't any excuse-making or trying to work around the refusal with platitudes. He just refused outright. Without jumping ahead, it is apparent that Jesus is making a point about a group of people who are disrespectful and unwilling to do what their “Father” has asked them to do. As seen in the previous verse, the vineyard represents the economy (a cultural expression) where God is dealing with man in order to bring about a result. Despite knowing this, who this son represents is still up in the air. Jesus will define it in the verses ahead, though. As for his negative attitude, Jesus next says, “Afterward, also, having regretted, he went.” A new word is seen here, metamelomai. It is derived from meta, after, and meló, to be of interest to. Specifically, it means “to care afterwards.” Thus, it is translated as remorse or regret. This is not the same as metanoeó, to reconsider (or, as many translations say, repent). That signifies a change of mind. This does not necessarily signify a change of mind, but a state of regret. A person can get caught stealing and regret his actions, but there may be no reconsideration about the path he is on. Regret can lead to reconsideration, but it does not necessarily do so. A person who refuses to wear shoes may regret stepping in an ant pile, but it doesn't mean he will reconsider having bare feet. This is especially so because he knows that ants will bite a person who wears shoes, often more violently than the barefooted person. because they have time to get into socks before they begin tearing into the poor hapless soul. Life application: Words have importance in Scripture. Different words with similar meaning are used at times, and it must be considered why this is so. Vincent's Word Studies gives a lengthy analysis of the word metamelomai – “This is a different word from that in Matthew 3:2; Matthew 4:17; μετανοεῖτε [metanoeite], Repent ye. Though it is fairly claimed that the word here implies all that is implied in the other word, the New Testament writers evidently recognize a distinction, since the noun which corresponds to the verb in this passage (μεταμέλεια [metameleia]) is not used at all in the New Testament, and the verb itself only five times; and, in every case except the two in this passage (see Matthew 21:32), with a meaning quite foreign to repentance in the ordinary gospel sense. Thus it is used of Judas, when he brought back the thirty pieces (Matthew 27:3); of Paul's not regretting his letter to the Corinthians (2 Corinthians 7:8); and of God (Hebrews 7:21). On the other hand, μετανοέω [metanoeo], repent, used by John and Jesus in their summons to repentance (Matthew 3:2; Matthew 4:17), occurs thirty-four times, and the noun μετάνοια [metanoia], repentance (Matthew 3:8, Matthew 3:11), twenty-four times, and in every case with reference to that change of heart and life wrought by the Spirit of God, to which remission of sins and salvation are promised. It is not impossible, therefore, that the word in this passage may have been intended to carry a different shade of meaning, now lost to us. Μεταμέλομαι [metamelomai], as its etymology indicates (μετά [meta], after, and μέλω [meló], to be an object of care), implies an after-care, as contrasted with the change of mind denoted by μετάνοια [metanoia]. Not sorrow for moral obliquity and sin against God, but annoyance at the consequences of an act or course of acts, and chagrin at not having known better. ‘It may be simply what our fathers were wont to call hadiwist (had-I-wist, or known better, I should have acted otherwise)' (Trench). Μεταμέλεια [metameleia] refers chiefly to single acts; μετάνοια [metanoia] denotes the repentance which affects the whole life. Hence the latter is often found in the imperative: Repent ye (Matthew 3:2; Matthew 4:17; Acts 2:38; Acts 3:19); the former never. Paul's recognition of the distinction (2 Corinthians 7:10) is noteworthy. ‘Godly sorrow worketh repentance (μετάνοιαν [metanoian]) unto salvation,' a salvation or repentance ‘which bringeth no regret on thinking of it afterwards' (ἀμεταμέλητον [ametameleton]). There is no occasion for one ever to think better of either his repentance or the salvation in which it issued.” It is good to evaluate such seemingly trivial changes in wording to grasp the nuances of what God is telling us. This is especially so when translations quite often fail to indicate that different words are being used. For example, the KJV says in this verse, “He answered and said, I will not: but afterward he repented, and went.” How can one know that a different word is used if the translators fail to make a distinction between the two? From the analysis of Vincent's Word Studies, it is obvious that repent incorrectly identifies what is being conveyed. Therefore, it is good that the NKJV cleaned up the translation, making it more in line with the intent of the Greek. Pay attention to these subtleties. If you are unsure about the meaning, go to a reliable Greek lexicon, which can be found online, and do a personal study. You will surely be rewarded with valuable insights when you do. Lord God, thank You for how intricately You have woven Your word together to give us a precise and detailed record of Your workings in human history to bring us back to Yourself. What a treat and a joy it is to study Your precious word. Amen.

ABIGAIL TRENCH A vivid, propulsive Revolutionary-era thriller with the spy-craft verve of the streaming hit TURN: Washington's Spies and the electricity of 1776's New York that Hamilton lovers will recognize, this story is inspired by the lone female operative in Washington's spy ring. In occupied New York, a schoolteacher with everything to lose turns information into a weapon, threading between Redcoats and rebels as plots against Washington gather steam. After rogue Redcoats assault her and strip her family's Long Island farm, Abigail Trench fights to survive in New York City—tutoring in a high-ranking British officer's Water Street household by day, navigating taverns, informants, and soldiers by night. Through Abigail's keen eyes—and a counter-narrative following a principled British major—the novel renders the moral gray zones of occupation with gritty intimacy. As rumors swirl of a strike at General Washington, Abigail's vantage inside upper-crust parlors and rough waterfront rooms makes her an ideal courier—and a target. This historical thriller delivers high tension, textured world-building, and a captivating heroine who put it all on the line for freedom. TOPICS OF CONVERSATION Abigail Trench follows a fictional teacher inspired by Agent 355, the Culper Ring's one woman, who was never identified in real life Built around George Washington's secret Revolutionary War spy network, the book imagines a common woman's path from English emigrant to rebel intelligence source The story opens at a public hanging, dropping readers into the grime, danger, and fear of 1776 New York City Real history runs through the story: the attempt on Washington's life, the fire that destroyed a third of New York City, and the hangings of Thomas Hickey and Nathan Hale Dual narration with British officer Major Parker Monteith keeps it from becoming good guys against bad guys, while Abigail wrestles with betraying a family that treated her well ABOUT THE AUTHOR Dr. Randy Overbeck is an award-winning educator, bestselling author, popular podcaster and speaker in much demand. The scene is set: two neighbors with very different ways of living. One is large, long-lived, free-to-roam, blimp-like. The other: small, shorter-lived, confined, butter-like. These are the people's fish, occupying international waters and places on earth that are quite impossible for us to truly experience from the perspectives of these amazingly adapted, beautiful fish. Get to know the "albatross" of the abyssal plain, the unfortunately (or fortunately?) named Robust Assfish, AND the Atacama Trench Snailfishes in our first ever compare and contrast episode. Florida lost a ton of experience up front on both sides of the ball, and the new coaching staff isn't handing anyone a starting job. David Waters breaks down every key name and position battle from spring practice — including the undersized tackle with elite length, a former five-star finally healthy, and the nose tackle competition that could define this defense. In this episode, Sean and James review the 1999 film The Trench. The Trench follows a group of young British soldiers during the tense hours leading up to the first day of the Battle of the Somme in 1916, focusing on their fears, friendships, and fragile hopes as they wait in the trenches. Rather than depicting large-scale combat, the film emphasizes psychological strain, class divisions, and the emotional toll of anticipation. When the long-awaited order finally comes, the human cost of industrial warfare is made starkly clear.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
