December 26, 2025 - Season 16, Episode 69 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Friday morning episode, Alex Kozora and I get right to talking about the Pittsburgh Steelers as they prepare to play the Cleveland Browns on the road on Sunday afternoon. We open this show by going over the latest regarding the transactions that the Steelers have made since our Wednesday show and that includes us discussing the addition of free agent CB Tre Flowers to the roster. We discuss what kind of player Flowers is at this stage of his career and what he brings to the Steelers. As usual, Alex and I look at the Steelers' latest injury report and how there's a possibility that several players could miss the Sunday game in Cleveland due to health reasons. The Browns' latest injury report is also covered during this segment. Will and should OLB T.J. Watt, OLB Nick Herbig, WR Calvin Austin III, CB Brandin Echols, and G Issaac Seumalo play on Sunday, and especially if the game against the Browns winds up being meaningless? We discuss that question early in this show. On Thursday, we once again heard from two of the Steelers' coordinators, Arthur Smith and Teryl Austin, so Alex and I recap the main talking points to come out of those media sessions. We welcome Scott Petrak of The Browns Zone back to the show on Friday, and he helps us preview the Steelers-Browns game. Petrak has covered the Browns for many years, and he certainly knows that team inside and out. We get his thoughts on several things related to the Sunday afternoon game in Cleveland. We talk in-depth to him about QB Shedeur Sanders and what he has seen out of the rookie to date. Will Browns DE Myles Garrett get the sack record on Sunday against the Steelers? Will talk to Scott about the season Garrett has had to date. We also discuss the future of Browns HC Kevin Stefanski and GM Andrew Berry moving past the 2025 season. Scott also tells us what positions the Browns should focus on when it comes to the early rounds of the 2026 NFL Draft. Finally, Scott tells us that he thinks the Browns will beat the Steelers on Sunday and regardless of if the game winds up not being meaningless to Pittsburgh. If not already doing so, make sure to follow Scott on X/Twitter at @scottpetrak and make sure to read his work here: https://www.brownszone.com/author/spetrak/. After finishing with Petrak, Alex and I provide our own preview of the Steelers-Browns game. We break down what we are looking for out of each team on both sides of the football Sunday afternoon. Alex and I then give our picks against the spread for the remainder of the Week 17 NFL games provided by show sponsor MyBookie.ag. We also give our final score predictions for the Steelers-Browns game. This 136-minute episode also discusses several other minor topics not noted above and we end this episode by answering several emails we received from listeners. steelersdepot.com Learn more about your ad choices. A Christmas Collapse in Minnesota The Detroit Lions turned a dominant defensive effort into a bitter loss on Christmas. They fell to the Minnesota Vikings despite allowing only three net passing yards until the final snap. The NFL will not remember the style points. It will remember six Detroit giveaways and one back-breaking coverage bust. That was the difference in a game the Lions should have closed. The numbers sting. Minnesota finished with just 11 first downs and 161 total yards on 51 plays. Sixty-five came on Jordan Addison's game-sealing touchdown. One play erased three quarters of work. It also punished the same structural stress the Lions have failed to solve all season when opponents dress up misdirection and eye candy. This Detroit Lions Podcast breakdown is about hard truths. The Lions invited disaster with turnovers, protection issues, and a run game that never tilted the field. Minnesota crowded the box and disguised pressure. Detroit never adjusted enough. Defense Dominates Until One Bust For most of the day, the defense smothered the Vikings. The front squeezed lanes. The safeties rallied downhill. Max Brosmer accomplished little until the shot that mattered. Then the Lions lost their landmarks. The pattern reappeared. Minnesota mirrored what the Rams, Steelers, Packers, and Cowboys have shown on film. Motion and window dressing pulled the second level inside. The safeties bit. The linebackers held too long. DJ Reed crashed outside leverage with no help behind him. Earlier weeks, it was Amik Robertson or Rak Yassin on the wrong end of similar concepts. On Christmas, Addison ran free. One lapse undone a superb afternoon. Even with that bust, the defense played well enough to win. It cannot be asked to survive six offensive turnovers. Offense Unravels: Line, Plan, and Quarterback Jared Goff started sharp. He drilled a third-down throw on the move to Jameson Williams. He dropped a red-zone strike to Isaac to slaw for the lone touchdown. Then the wheels came off. Minnesota dialed pressure. Detroit's offensive line could not sort it out, and the giveaways piled up. Personnel reality bit hard. Kingsley Agwacun made only his second career start at center. Dan Skipper stepped in at left tackle with Taylor Decker out due to illness. Christian Mahogany gutted through his leg recovery but is not close to full strength. Asking this group to reach across two gaps or land difficult reach blocks was wishful. The run game vanished, and the pocket turned static. There were answers on tape. Shorter drops. Quicker triggers. Roll the launch point right and left. When Goff moved by design, throwing angles opened and timing improved. Detroit did not lean on that enough. Play calling invited the rush instead of using it against an aggressive front with screens, tempo, and rhythmic underneath throws. The equation is simple. Protect the ball. Protect the edges. Protect your defense's work. The Lions did none of it in Minnesota. One explosive allowed and six giveaways define a loss no one in Detroit will soon forget. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s5AOYbHi4BY #detroitlions #lions #detroitlionspodcast #minnesotavikings #sixgiveaways #coveragebust #jordanaddisongame-sealingtouchdown #misdirectionandeyecandy #motionandwindowdressing #crowdedthebox #disguisedpressure #protectionissues #kingsleyagwacun Learn more about your ad choices. Lee Hacksaw Hamilton shares his “Hacksaw History” highlighting his career from Long Island to Ohio University, upstate New York, Cleveland, Phoenix and San Diego. We discussed Lee's early days doing play-by-play in minor league hockey, minor league baseball, and as a TV journalist. Then it was on to Cleveland to broadcast big time WHL pro hockey, a competitor with the NHL at that time. Then on to Phoenix KTAR where he lit the Valley of Sun on fire. In the late 1980s, San Diego called and invited Lee to be the play-by-play voice of the San Diego Chargers and also to host a sports talk show on XTRA 690. That sports talk show was the very beginning of an innovative all sports talk radio station that featured many names including Jim Rome, Steve Hartman, Chet Forte, Coach John Kentera, Billy Ray Smith, Scott Kaplan, Philly Billy Werndl, Jim Laslavic, Pat Curran and many more. This episode was originally aired as part of the John Riley Project on July 20, 2022. The History of Sports Talk Radio Lee shared his Long Island roots and the start of his radio news/DJ career in his college days on a radio station in Appalachia. After a great run broadcasting pro hockey in Cleveland, he took his talents to the desert to announce Arizona State football and basketball. Hacksaw also hosted a sports talk show on KTAR in Phoenix shocking the locals with critical comments of ASU's football suspension, the Suns getting blown out in the first round of the 1981 NBA playoffs, and the ineptitude of Bowie Kuhn during the 1981 MLB strike. This was the start of the “Best 15 Minutes in Radio.” This was the start of “Putting Topics on the Table.” “React!” Lee was determined to grab his listeners by the throat and hold them for 4 hours of compelling sports talk radio. Hacksaw's reputation in Arizona led to a 1986 phone call from the Noble Broadcast Group in San Diego to be the San Diego Chargers play by play guy and start a sports talk show on the Mighty 690. At the time the station was broadcasting rock n roll and Wolfman Jack. Little did they know that things were going to radically change in the next few years. Lee was the only sports guy in the entire station, and he started with a blank slate. How in the hell was he going to pull this off? He started by creating a 9-hour NFL Sunday broadcast with a 2-hour Countdown to Kickoff pre-game show, the live game, and then a post-game show with caller participation. The Mighty 690 Sports Talk Radio Meanwhile, every afternoon drivetime Hacksaw hosted his talk radio show using many of his provocative techniques to drive listenership. Lee was a sensation bringing sports facts, stats, and opinions in the late 1980s. He was the internet before the internet was a thing. After a brief transition to sports and news talk, the station went 100% sports starting in 1989. The Mighty 690 was the 3rd radio station in America to go all sports, and the first on the west coast. 690 had a “blowtorch signal” that carried Lee's show from “Baja to the Canadian Rockies” As 690 went all sports, many new voices took the microphone to create a wide variety of opinions and styles on sports talk: Jim Rome came on board to start his Scrub Saturday show. He later got the night shift right after Hacksaw's show, working on developing his style, his smack, and his clones. Rome later went on to national fame, but did you know Hacksaw was first offered the national gig prior to Rome but he turned it down. Steve Hartman joins the station and with Lee's recommendation he was paired up with former Monday Night Football producer Chet Forte. Two loudmouth guys: one young, one old, one west coast, one east coast. It was perfect. Steve Mason and John Ireland took on the morning show and later saw their careers take them to new places. Scott Kaplan and Billy Ray Smith joined the station creating a strong show and a loyal listening audience of Great Friends. The Coach John Kentera joins the station sharing his wealth of knowledge of local high school sports, plus offering his commentary on the San Diego pro and collegiate sports teams. San Diego Chargers: I root for Herbert to Win, but Spanos to Lose As a long time voice of the San Diego Chargers play-by-play, and as an NFL junkie, Hacksaw was right at home broadcasting the Chargers every Sunday. We retrace some of the magical moments of the Chargers Super Bowl season including stories about Bobby Ross, Stan Humphries, Stan Brock, Tony Martin, Dennis Gibson, and the playoff run against the Dolphins in Steelers. We reminisce about the good vibes as both the team and the community both came together in a very special way. After the 1997 season The Mighty 690 lost its broadcast rights to the team, breaking promises made to the station and to Lee personally to stay on as the play-by-play guy. Hacksaw was very disappointed with the decision, but he bounced back and was the play-by-play guy for the Seattle Seahawks for 3 seasons. So, how does Hacksaw feel about the Chargers now? He says he wants the kid quarterback Justin Herbert to go 17-0 and the owner Dean Spanos to go 0-17. San Diego State Aztecs and the PAC-12 In the podcast episode we get into the new Snapdragon Stadium, Lee's disappointment that the Soccer City proposal did not win thus guaranteeing an NFL stadium option, and the possibilities of the Aztecs joining the PAC-12. Could this be the start of a new podcast platform for Lee Hacksaw Hamilton? “Agree or disagree?” “I want to talk sports with you!” #Hacksaw #LeeHamilton #Mighty690 #Chargers #sportsmedia #sportstalk #xtra690 #jimrome #chetforte #scottkaplan #billyraysmith #billwerndl #stevehartman #johnkentera #johnlynch Be sure to share this episode with a friend! ☆☆ STAY CONNECTED ☆☆ For more of Hacksaw's Headlines, The Best 15 Minutes, One Man's Opinion, and Hacksaw's Pro Football Notebook: http://www.leehacksawhamilton.com/ SUBSCRIBE on YouTube for more reactions, upcoming shows and more! ► https://www.youtube.com/c/leehacksawhamiltonsports FACEBOOK ➡ https://www.facebook.com/leehacksaw.hamilton.9 TWITTER ➡ https://twitter.com/hacksaw1090 TIKTOK ➡ https://www.tiktok.com/@leehacksawhamilton INSTAGRAM ➡ https://www.instagram.com/leehacksawhamiltonsports/ To get the latest news and information about sports, join Hacksaw's Insider's Group. December 24, 2025 - Season 16, Episode 68 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Wednesday morning episode, Alex Kozora and I get right into talking about the latest news concerning Pittsburgh Steelers WR DK Metcalf on the heels of his two-game suspension being upheld on Tuesday following his appeal hearing. We discuss several aspects related to Metcalf's suspension and that includes going over voids of guaranteed money in his contract moving forward. We also talk about the wide receiver situation in Pittsburgh for the team's final two regular season games now that Metcalf has officially been suspended. The Steelers are bringing back WR Brandon Johnson to the practice squad this week, so we go over that bit of news. We also talk about one sport on the active 53-man roster being open now that Metcalf has been suspended for the next two games. The Steelers have three players that were voted to the annual Pro Bowl Games this week, so we discuss that news. We also discuss the one Pro Bowl Games alternate from the Steelers that we know about so far. Steelers HC Mike Tomlin held his weekly press conference on Tuesday and as usual, Alex and I parse all of the notable things that he had to say to the media. We discuss his comments on the Metcalf situation, the overall health of the team entering Week 17, and how the team might handle a potential meaningless game on Sunday against the Cleveland Browns and much more. Is OL Spencer Anderson poised to be the team's future starting left guard in 2026 at this point? We discuss that possibility based on what Tomlin said about Anderson on Tuesday. We also discuss the help that T Dylan Cook should get on Sunday against Browns DE Myles Garrett. Alex and I begin our weekly recap of the All-22 tape of the Steelers' last game, the Sunday afternoon road win against the Detroit Lions. We start on the offensive side of the football and spend a lot of time discussing the play of several individual players. We discuss QB Aaron Rodgers long touchdown pass to RB Kenneth Gainwell as well as several key plays that were made in that contest. After thoroughly discussing the offensive tape from Week 16, Alex and I then do the same when it comes to the defensive side of the football. We discuss the Steelers shutting down the Lions' running game and the unit managed key situations on Sunday. We also discuss the overall play of Lions QB Jared Goff against the Steelers and several key stats related to both sides of the football. Alex and I make sure to recap the AFC North clinching scenarios the Steelers have entering Week 17 as well. This 107-minute episode also discusses several other minor topics not noted and we wrap things up by answering several emails we received from listeners. steelersdepot.com Learn more about your ad choices.
