The Washington Commanders (3-7) go to Minneapolis to take on the Minnesota Vikings (4-8), led by QB JJ McCarthy, a fellow 2024 QB draftee. Before we dive into the matchup, we begin with the All-22 Review against the Denver Broncos from Sunday night. KDot gives his game ball to an entire unit, and was pleased with the fight and effort he saw from the Commanders. We also touch on HBO's Hard Knocks, featuring the NFC East this season. Dan Quinn delivers an elite speech in the locker room after the Broncos game.We begin the matchup preview, as we always do, with the injury report for the game. The Commanders are getting healthier, with Jayden Daniels back and Terry McLaurin in line to continue playing. However, Bobby Wagner has not practiced the past couple days, so his status is up in the air. For the Vikings, Christian Darrisaw is a question mark. The Commanders offense, featuring Jayden Daniels once again, takes on a Vikings defense that blitzes more than any other team in the NFL. Andrew Van Ginkel returned around a month ago for the Vikings, which directly lines up with their defense playing much better. This is an opportunity for Jayden to play well against the blitz, something he was brilliant at last season, but struggled with this season. This will also be the first time Jayden Daniels has Terry McLaurin, Deebo Samuel, Noah Brown and a fully healthy projected starting offensive line all season. The Commanders defense goes against JJ McCarthy, Aaron Jones, Jordan Mason, Justin Jefferson and the rest of this Vikings offense. JJ has turned the ball over in every game he's played, but when he only turns it over once, he's 2-0. The Vikings run through their running game, so it is critical we stop it.The Commanders are road favorites by 1.5 points and the over-under is 43.5 points. In Hour 1, Chris “The Rooster” Russell kicks things off by reacting to Jayden Daniels' partnership with 3 Arts Sports and his plans to launch a production company. Is this a smart long-term move or an unnecessary distraction for a young quarterback still finding his footing? The Rooster breaks it down. Then, with NFL Hard Knocks releasing its new trailer for the in-season series featuring all four NFC East teams, Chris gives his thoughts on what fans can expect and what storylines could take center stage. The conversation turns to the audience as The Rooster asks whether he's wrong to be concerned about Daniels taking on too much too soon and listeners sound off. Finally, Chris wraps Hour 1 by exploring the big question: Is this media venture truly what's best for Jayden Daniels' career, or could it create more pressure than payoff?
From the School of Hard Knocks (@theschoolofhardknockz) on Instagram, I caught a quick interview of a billionaire where he mentioned something his dad told him - “We grow old to soon and wise too late.” I think that is so true. Wisdom comes with experience and obviously experience comes with age. Experience also comes with taking action in life. That is something all of us can do more of for sure, especially for me. Part of growing old too soon is that time flys by and this person also mentioned that spending time with family & loved ones is something that is really important as we can never get it back. The guys question Schoen's future, debate whether Jaxson Dart was really a Daboll guy, and react to Tiki Barber saying the culture changed under Daboll. Then, the Giants' season gets even juicier they're starring in Hard Knocks: In Season with the entire NFC East. Gio floats Jon Gruden as a wild replacement idea, Boomer wonders if Zac Taylor could be next to go, and Michelle Beadle goes head-to-head with Stephen A. Smith in a fiery media showdown. Finally, could the Giants actually trade for their next head coach? Boomer thinks Mike Tomlin might be worth a call. Plus, Jerry Recco's updates feature Daboll reaction, Gruden on Jaxson Dart, and the Rangers finally winning at MSG capped off by the Moment of the Day: Al Dukes admits he's into “horse face women,” and the room absolutely loses it.
Boomer & Gio react to the Giants being featured on Hard Knocks: In Season with the NFC East and the timing couldn't be juicier. We have repeatedly said that Jesus' parables are meant to be beautifully annoying, yet this week we come to one that is specifically about annoyance. A widow who is not getting justice decides to keep pestering a judge until she gets it. Why would Jesus tell us this story? In a rare exception, we are told in advance explicitly what this parable is about: to encourage us to pray and not lose heart. But this doesn't seem like a very encouraging story. She just keeps knocking and knocking on his door. It sounds exhausting. How could this story be helpful to us, much less be good news for disheartened people? As always, there's a joy here that Jesus wants us to go away ruminating upon - how we've misunderstood the incredible gift of prayer. Let's talk about a "Hard-Knock Life" (Luke 18:1-8)
Brandon said “I do”… to disappearing from the podcast. Meanwhile Jesse is officially BACK, and intern Reece is still clinging to his unpaid position like it's a roster spot on Hard Knocks. This week we get into: NFL Trade Deadline chaos The Miami Dolphins finally firing Chris Grier (we celebrate accordingly) Our NFL Midseason Awards — MVPs, fraud rankings, surprises & disappointments And a brief moment of silence for Brandon's free time 25 episodes in and somehow this show still exists. Crack a beer and enjoy.

Abby and Dave start off this conversation reconnecting after a week of not seeing each other, because we were both presenting at different Christian education conferences. After a little catching up and reconnecting, we shift to our main topic: parent teacher conferences. (‘Tis the season!) We share stories of our own experiences as young teachers, learning how to lead a parent-teacher conference, partly through the school of hard knocks. We describe lessons we learned, and things we found that worked well for getting on the same page with parents, because we all care about the kids. We also share a bit from our perspective of parents about what we hope for in a conference with teachers. We hope that this conversation encourages you, educators, when you meet up with parents to collaborate with them for the good of the kids. We always love hearing from you, dear listeners.
