Welcome back to the Royal Blue podcast! EXCLUSIVE NordVPN Deal ➼ https://nordvpn.com/efc Try it risk-free now with a 30-day money-back guarantee In today's episode, Ian Croll is joined by the Liverpool Echo's Everton reporters Chris Beesley and Joe Thomas to dissect the major talking points surrounding the Blues as the Premier League fixtures drop and pre-season preparations loom. The main item on today's agenda is manager David Moyes' controversial interview on talkSPORT. Speaking on Jim White's show, Moyes caused an immediate stir among the fan base when asked about Everton's aims and ambitions for the upcoming campaign. Moyes remarked:“I don't know if a club like Everton now we can make big, huge strides but we see how well the likes of Bournemouth and Brentford are doing, so there's no reason why we all shouldn't have those ambitions to try and at least match those clubs and how they go about it. But I would have to say that at Everton we are trying to be back up at the top end of the teams that we can. For long periods of last season we were, we just didn't quite have enough in the last four or five weeks of the season.” Unsurprisingly, these comments have not gone down well with many Evertonians. The panel debates whether Moyes is merely injecting a dose of harsh realism regarding the club's current recruitment model, or if he is guilty of deliberately managing expectations downwards. Furthermore, we address the frustration of fans who feel that comparing a historic giant like Everton to historically smaller clubs like Bournemouth and Brentford shows a glaring lack of elite ambition. Everton have been ordered by a Premier League Independent Disciplinary Commission to pay nearly £40 million in compensation and interest to Burnley following a legal claim over Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR) breaches. Host Ian Croll is joined by the Liverpool Echo's Everton FC correspondent Joe Thomas to break down a decision that the club has branded "fundamentally flawed in both law and fact." Burnley's case relies on the legal principle of 'loss of chance,' arguing that if Everton's point deduction had been applied during the 2021/22 season, the Blues would have been relegated and the Clarets would have stayed up. The club has already launched an official appeal, warning that this sets a "dangerous and unworkable precedent for English football." Ian and Joe discuss what this massive ruling means for the club's finances, how The Friedkin Group (TFG) is responding, and why the club insists this won't trigger any future PSR sanctions. Browns Color Commentator Nathan Zegura joins the show and confirms the Shedeur Sanders vs. Deshaun Watson quarterback competition is genuinely tight, with Todd Monken praising both quarterbacks as starting caliber while the receiver room looks like the best Cleveland has had since Odell and Jarvis. Zegura also breaks down the Myles Garrett trade fallout, saying Jared Verse has been impossible to miss at minicamp with his quickness and speed off the edge, but makes clear this team's ceiling lives or dies with the offense finally producing. The guys close with a heartfelt tribute to Joel Bitonio, with Zegura revealing he was both the first and last reporter to ever interview him, calling him everything you want in a Cleveland Brown from the day he arrived flanked by Joe Thomas and Alex Mack.

Jonathan Peterlin and Daryl Ruiter analyze the trade of Myles Garrett to the Rams and what Jared Verse brings to the Browns' defense on Afternoon Drive. They compare Verse's natural leadership to Garrett's statistical dominance and discuss how the defense might regress without a generational talent. This segment also examines leadership roles in Cleveland sports history, mentioning Joe Thomas and Max Strus. 01:00 - Jared Verse's Leadership 04:17 - Winning The Garrett Trade 12:35 - Browns' Defensive Outlook
Ken makes the logical case that trading Myles Garrett was an admission this season is cooked, and if that is true then the hard no on Denzel Ward makes absolutely zero sense because a 29-year-old corner with an injury history is not getting more valuable as the year goes on. Ken genuinely respects everything Denzel has given the organization and points out he is the best corner the Browns have had since 1999, but frames it the same way he eventually came around on the Myles trade: if you can get a second rounder and give him a chance to actually play meaningful football somewhere, that is the right move for everybody. The Joe Thomas comparison hangs over the whole conversation, with Ken admitting the Browns have a habit of keeping great players for their entire careers and then having to ask uncomfortable questions about why they could never get more out of them. Ken closes by saying he actually hopes Andrew Berry is lying when he says hard no on Denzel, because getting another 2027 pick while rewarding a loyal and drama-free player with a shot at the playoffs would be the smart move on every level.
Nick Wilson and Jonathan Peterlin explore the trade of Myles Garrett to the Los Angeles Rams and its long-term implications for the Cleveland Browns defense. Callers discuss Garrett's controversial history and career legacy while comparing the current situation to former Browns great Joe Thomas. 01:00 - Garrett's Career Goals 03:45 - Garrett's Controversial History 08:42 - Trading Jared Verse

Ken and Lima decide it is time to establish once and for all whose opinion actually counts when it comes to the Browns quarterback debate, putting together a blue ribbon panel that includes Bernie Kosar, Joe Thomas, John Greco, Mary Kay Cabot, Kirk Herbstreit, Albert Breer, Jarvis Landry, Brady Quinn, and several others while firmly keeping Johnny Manziel off the list despite a spirited debate. Bernie Kosar's take gets played on air, with the Cleveland legend sounding healthier than he has in years and offering measured support for Shadeur Sanders while noting that last year's offense gave any quarterback almost no chance to succeed. Ken and Lima also briefly tease the Knicks series ahead, with Ken making the point that Karl-Anthony Towns playing point center is going to run directly into Evan Mobley, and that Jalen Brunson is a matchup the Cavs can exploit.

Sen. Chris Murphy, the Democrat from Connecticut, is under fire for appearing to cheer on America’s enemy during the middle of a war. It was reported that 26 ships in Iran’s shadow fleet had been able to run the U.S. blockade in the Strait of Hormuz. In response to that news, the senator tweeted one word, “Awesome.” White House spokesperson Olivia Wales told Fox News the congressman’s social media message crossed the line. “It takes an insane level of Trump Derangement Syndrome to cheer for a terrorist regime that chants ‘Death to America,” Wales told the network. “Chris Murphy is an America-last, radical left lunatic who stands for illegal aliens and Iranian terrorists over the American people,” she added. “The only thing ‘awesome’ will be when he is out of office.” First of all, there is no evidence that Iran has a shadow fleet or that they were able to evade the U.S. Navy. And to suggest otherwise is outrageous. “This is what late-stage TDS looks like: Cheering on Iran to defeat the U.S. Navy,” read a statement from the Trump War Room on X. The congressman’s office defended the message and said it was nothing more than sarcasm. It appears that Sen. Murphy is either a moron or he’s a traitor to his country. It's time to start calling out these treasonous Democrats for who and what they really are. Treason is a crime in the United States of America. It’s defined in part as giving "comfort" to the enemy. And that's what Murphy's comments did. At the very least Sen. Murphy should be censured by the U.S. Senate. And he should also be brought up on charges. And, if found guilty, he should face whatever penalties are levied by court. It’s time to stop coddling anti-American politicians.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
We spent a year as the Commonwealth of Virginia birthing 94,000 babies and taking the lives of 38,000. That means we are aborting about a quarter of our next generation. We've gotten to the point where there's a volume of Virginians that have decided they don't care about the unborn. They're fine with late term abortions, argues Victoria Cobb, president of the Family Foundation of Virginia on today's Daily Signal podcast with host Joe Thomas. Learn more about your ad choices. Royal Blue: Dewsbury-Hall Rescues a Point at the Gtech & Season Ticket Price Hikes. EXCLUSIVE NordVPN Deal ➼ https://nordvpn.com/efc Try it risk-free now with a 30-day money-back guarantee. Join Ian Croll and Joe Thomas for a post-match reaction as Everton showed serious fighting spirit to snatch a point in a chaotic 2-2 draw away at Brentford. The Blues looked to be heading for a narrow defeat until Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall popped up in the 91st minute to sweep home a dramatic equaliser, silencing the Gtech Community Stadium and sending the travelling Toffees into raptures. We break down the key moments, from Beto's first-half header to the defensive lapses that twice gave the Bees the lead, and ask: is this the "never-say-die" attitude David Moyes has truly instilled in this European-chasing squad? Was a draw a fair result? We discuss the resilience shown to come from behind twice and Dewsbury-Hall's knack for scoring "clutch" goals. We've also got reaction to Friday's announcement regarding season ticket price increases for the 2026/27 season at the Hill Dickinson Stadium. With some fans facing rises of up to 10%, we discuss the timing and the impact on the loyal match-going fanbase. Finally a quick look ahead to Sunday. Jeff and Andy argue about whether or not the Browns should be looking for offensive linemen to draft, or if they really need to stick with the "best player available" philosophy.
It's a packed Easter weekend edition of Packernet After Dark, and Pack Nation showed up in full force. Pack Daddy smoked a ham, got bombarded with BBQ questions, and somehow turned it all into one of the most entertaining call-in nights of the season. The regulars are all here — Uncle Rico is fired up about Joe Thomas's bizarre take on "unleashing" Jordan Love, Randy from Minnesota is spreading holiday cheer, Batman is grilling Ryan on brisket technique and cold-weather cooking, and Ben from Minnesota needs urgent help converting his four-year-old daughter from a Vikings fan before it's too late.

Right Tackle Becomes the Mock Draft Bulls‑Eye The Detroit Lions keep showing up at No. 17 with an offensive tackle in new mock drafts. The trend is specific now. Right tackle is the target. In a sample of more than 20 mocks, two names dominate over half the projections: Monroe Fraley of Georgia and Blake Miller of Thompson. The NFL board is shifting, and the Detroit Lions Podcast zeroed in on why. The calculus starts with Detroit's line configuration. The Lions appear open to moving Penei Sewell to left tackle. That elevates right tackle to a priority. The board dynamics matter too. Colon Proctor is rising. He even appeared in a few mocks to Detroit at 17, but the expectation here is a top‑10 landing because size and movement like that rarely linger. Monroe Fraley: High-Ceiling Athlete, Light on Reps Fraley plays left tackle. He moves well. He flashes the traits teams covet in the middle of Round 1. But inexperience shows up. The tape has technique drift. The footwork gets loose. There is some leaning. The start count tells the story. Sixteen starts leaves a gap to bridge at NFL speed. That is the push and pull with Fraley in the 10-to-20 range. If he lands in Detroit, the upside is obvious. The concern is the learning curve. Daily work against Aidan Hutchinson would speed development, but that is a two-edged sword. There is a real example of how constant domination in practice can dent a young player's confidence. Cam Wimbley splashed as a rookie, then ran into Joe Thomas and hit a wall. That caution applies broadly. Jeff Okuda felt some of that pressure in Detroit practices too. Fraley can improve, and his athletic profile suggests he will, but the on-ramp needs managing. Blake Miller: Experienced Power, Plug-and-Play Path Miller is a right tackle by trade. He is athletic, though not as fluid as Fraley in space. He wins more with power. The experience stands out: 47 starts. The growth from 2024 to 2025 jumps off the film. He sealed the outside more consistently. He found and finished targets at the second level instead of just arriving late. That matters on Sundays. Because the Lions may slide Sewell to the left side, Miller's profile fits the immediate need. He can line up at right tackle and start. The floor feels higher, the timeline cleaner. Fraley could be gone before 17. He could also be there. Miller offers a steadier answer if the board breaks that way. Either would address the Detroit Lions' top offensive priority. The question at 17 is simple: chase Fraley's ceiling or bank Miller's readiness while the NFL board churns around Colon Proctor's rise. #detroitlions #lions #detroitlionspodcast #monroefraley #blakemiller #righttackle #lefttackle #detroitlionspick17 #nflmockdrafts #colonproctor #top10projection #peneisewell #aidanhutchinsonpractice #secondlevelblocking #sealingtheedge #footworkandtechnique #experiencegap16vs47starts #jeffokuda Learn more about your ad choices. Like the Wild West hero who rides back into town just as the community is in peril, former Gov. George Allen has rejoined a fight he helped win in 2020, establishing a nonpartisan way to draw Virginia's congressional districts. Now critics want to undo all that effort, and Allen sits down with Joe Thomas—whom he calls “Set 'Em Up Joe,” after the Vern Gosdin song—to take us inside the story.

Pack Daddy woke up ready to hand this one off to Sal — then read the headline, watched the clip, and decided this one was personal. After catching Joe Thomas on Wildie & Tauch arguing that Matt LaFleur needs to "unleash" Jordan Love and that there are training wheels on the offense, Ryan went point-by-point through the entire segment to pick it apart — with receipts. The core complaint: Every claim in the Joe Thomas segment is an assertion built on feelings with zero data to back it up — and Pack Daddy calls it out relentlessly, demanding proof at every turn instead of just vibe-based football takes The numbers don't lie: Jordan Love ranked #1 in the entire NFL in EPA per play on third down in 2025, #5 in completion percentage over expected, and #1 in success rate — so the "he can't perform on third down because we run too much on first down" argument falls completely apart LaFleur's system IS the offense: Ryan makes a passionate case that the LaFleur-Love pairing is a feature, not a bug — and that demanding Jordan operate outside the scheme is the same kind of thinking that made the Rodgers era messy The PFF case for Love: An 89 passing grade in 2025, with Joe Burrow (8 games) and Matt Stafford as the only QBs rated higher — Ryan asks plainly: at what point do we just crown the guy? If you've been nodding along to the "Jordan Love needs more freedom" narrative, Pack Daddy has a direct challenge for you: find one data point. Just one. Call in at 608-501-0718 and make your case — he's ready for you. #GoPackGo #PackNation #JordanLove #GreenBayPackers #NFL #PackernetPodcast #MattLaFleur #PackDaddy This episode is brought to you by PrizePicks! Recent legislative actions by some Virginia Democrats threaten to undermine the reform Brian Cannon helped pass five years ago. It was rare moment where both parties aligned to protect democracy in passing a bipartisan constitutional amendment in Virginia that aimed to remove politicians' control over drawing district maps, explains the head of NoGerrymanderingVA.org, when he joined Joe Thomas, The Daily Signal's Virginia correspondent, today. “ I'm a democrat, and you and I probably don't vote the same way 90% of the time when we go into the voting booth, but I believe in your right to cast a meaningful vote in a free and fair election.” Learn more about your ad choices.
