The Catholic Podcast Collective is a space for Catholic podcasters to connect, collaborate, and have conversations about Christ and His Church.
Matt and JB had a fantastic conversation with Fr. Thomas More Barba, O.P., the Chaplain at the University of Dallas. In this chapter, we take a look at Fr. Thomas More's discernment into the priesthood; challenges that he faces as a chaplain, priest, and religious; and, together, we ponder the future of the Catholic Church from the perspective of formation and renewal, especially with young adults. S1E5 | Vocation, Timelines, & Spiritual Battles with Deacon Raffaele Salvino Each of us desire to know God's will for our lives. But despite our best efforts, the answers may not be as clear as we'd like for it to be. What happens when God's timeline doesn't line up with our own? In this episode, we're blessed to hear the vocation story of Deacon Raffaele Salvino and some of the insights that he's gained from his own journey. We also discuss the anxiety around the beauty of God's invitation to deepen our relationship with Him, vocational timelines, and the spiritual battles that can be fought—and won—with the grace of God. Deacon Raffaele also shares his favourite spiritual book, a childhood memory, and a definitive answer as to whether or not pineapples belong on pizza. This episode was first released on April 23, 2021 when Father Raffaele Salvino was an ordained deacon. He was ordained a priest in the Archdiocese of Vancouver on July 3rd, 2021. This episode first aired on January 12, 2021 and features guest Theresa Ambat, a music producer, composer, and sound designer based in Seattle, Washington. She is also the one who composed the theme music for the podcast! "I'm doing music because this is the way that I feel so connected with the Lord." At one point in her life, Theresa Ambat made up her mind to go into bioengineering. But when she didn't get accepted into the program, Theresa found herself diving deeper into a part of her life that she might have only considered as a hobby: music. By the grace of God, Theresa ended up changing her major and now spends a lot of time writing music and sharing it with others. For Theresa, music is more than fame or money: it's her way of connecting with God and bringing Him to others. In this episode, Theresa and I talk about how she got her start in music, the impact of her university's Newman Centre on her faith journey, and how a message from Mary helped her learn more about her feminine genius. Here are the show notes for this week's episode. Learn more about Theresa and her work by following her on Instagram, @theresaambat, and checking out her website: theresaambat.com.
