Parsha ‘Korach’ (Numbers chapters 16 through 18) is popularly known as the story of “Korah’s Rebellion.” And the Erev Shabbat reading of the portion by Mark Call of SSM certainly explains why: https://hebrewnationonline.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/SSM-6-19-26-Korach-teaching-podcast-xx.mp3 But we risk missing out if we don’t ask some important questions, and not even just “why?” This was, after all, the guy who had led them through the Red, er, Sea of Reeds, and spoke directly to YHVH Himself. Who did they think they were? But maybe we shouldn’t be surprised. After all, Yahushua told all us that if we don’t believe “Moses’s Writings,” how could we believe His Words? “Korach: A Rebellion that was the First of Too Many https://hebrewnationonline.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/WT-CooH-6-20-26-Korach-If-we-cant-even-RECOGNIZE-Moses-how-can-we-hope-to-spot-a-FAKE-podcast-xxx.mp3 Service information: Shabbat Shalom Mesa fellowship worship services and teachings are broadcast live every Sabbath, via Paltalk. In the final installment of “The Shadows Behind the Shadows” series, which examines the literary, cinematic, theatrical, and other inspirations for Dark Shadows storylines, I look at the final story arcs of the series – 1995, the Summer of 1970 (aka the Ghosts of Daphne and Gerard), 1840, and 1841 Parallel Time. Influences on Night of Dark Shadows are also touched upon. The end of the episode features messages and posts from a variety of listeners who shed light on additional sources. Of all of the biographical sketches I have taught in a Sunday School setting, the Life of A W Pink was drawn the largest audience and the most comments. From a life of relative obscurity, this is the story of how his commentaries and topics gained a large audience within 10 years after his passing in 1952.

Recorded live at a SAND Community Gathering (April 2026) Hard times are here, we hunger for voices that can see beyond the fear, beyond the noise, beyond the technologies consuming our attention. We need poets and visionaries. People who remember freedom. Dr. Jaiya John (Mshkiki Odeh Inini, Medicine Heart Man), medicine poet, freedom worker, is one of those voices. He has spent his life gathering words that heal. In this conversation, we enter the beauty, the grief, and the medicine together. We sit with the devastation tearing our world, the sorrows cracking us open, the ancestors still holding us—and the radical insistence that collective freedom is not something we chase. It is something already alive in and between us, waiting to be birthed. Dr. Jaiya John (Mshkiki Odeh Inini, Medicine Heart Man) was orphan-born on ancient Indigenous Anasazi and Pueblo lands in the high desert of New Mexico. He is an ancestral Baba, freedom worker, medicine poet, and the founder of Soul Water Rising—a global mission to eradicate oppression through re-humanization, book donations, and grants to displaced youth. He is the author of numerous books including Freedom: Medicine Words for your Brave Revolution and Fragrance After Rain, and the creator of the podcast I Will Read for You. A former professor of social psychology at Howard University, he holds a doctorate from UC Santa Cruz and has spoken to over a million people worldwide. His Indigenous soul dreams of frybread, sweetgrass, bamboo in the breeze, and turtle lakes whose poetry is peace. Watch the full video version of this conversation. In this episode, Dave and Andrew explore Steve Reich's Double Sextet, but can't help but talk about his earlier work. How does this later piece stack up to classics like Music for 18 Musicians? Could we also view this as a lifetime achievement award for a composer whose music would not have been considered for the Pulitzer Prize in the 1970s? This is another episode of Shonda's Podcast, "Story & Strength". The purpose is to draw Inspiration from the stories of artists, authors, creators and just down to Earth interesting people. Here is my Story and Strength segment about the couple raising funds for a new bus. A Journey of a Spirit's Mechanic is a donation-based, voluntary roadside assistance program run by Melissa Brant (Mouse), and her partner, “Martian” that has helped stranded motorists from coast-to-coast in the United States for over 8 years. Now, they are the ones stranded and in need of assistance. Their current vehicle, a 2009 Freightliner Thomas bus named Marvin broke down after months of continuous repairs and finally failed completely while traveling, leaving them stranded at a truck stop in New Mexico. In order to replace their home on wheels and continue their mission, they need approximately $12,500 for a new rig that is in better condition than other options they've considered. They are currently at $4,500.00 in donations received. We are helping them get the word out about their mission and their current need. If just 200 people would each give $50.00 toward their cause, they could purchase that rig with a small cushion of funds to cover food and gas as they get going again. If you can't give funds, please help share the story and the ask far amd wide so we can find those 200 or more people who can make this goal a reality. The ways you can give are as follows: gofund.me/f608e372c Cashapp $aspiritsmechanic Venmo @aspiritsmechanic19 Zelle Paypal Themartianandthemouse@gmail.com You can follow their journey on Facebook at: https://www.facebook.com/aspiritsmechanic Thank you for listening! *Checkout and Follow the Writings of Shonda Sinclair here: Roaming the Road (of Life):https://www.shondasinclair.com/ *Visit our webpage where you can catch up on Current / Past Episodes: www.theoldmanspodcast.com *Contact us at: theoldmanspodcast@gmail.com

Many of us think of the Bible as a book written in Hebrew and Greek, overlooking the important role of Aramaic—the lingua franca of much of the ancient Near East. In this episode, Helen and Lloyd climb into the Time Machine with Tawny Holm, one of the world's leading experts on Aramaic, to explore the language's history, literature, and cultural significance. Who spoke and wrote Aramaic? What kinds of texts were composed in it? And how can Aramaic literature beyond the Bible help us better understand the Aramaic passages within it?Tawny M. Holm is Professor of Hebrew and Aramaic Studies at Penn State University. Her main research areas are the Hebrew Bible in its Ancient Near Eastern context, early Judaism and Aramaic studies. She is the author of Of Courtiers and Kings: The Biblical Daniel Narratives and Ancient-Story Collections (Eisenbrauns, 2013), and, most recently, Aramaic Literature from Egypt and the Levant, published in May 2026 in SBL's series, Writings from the Ancient World (Volume 30). Send us Fan MailBefore we dive into the Psalms, we need to understand how the original audience viewed Scripture. The Bible was written in a different language, in a different land, during a different time period. Every time we open its pages, we are stepping into another culture. While God's Word speaks to us today, understanding its original context helps us hear it more clearly. In this episode, we explore what the Bible is: a historical theological narrative. From Genesis to Revelation, Scripture tells one unified story about God working through real people, real places, and real events to reveal who He is and what He is doing in the world. We also examine how Jesus and the Jewish people organized and understood the Scriptures through the Tanakh—the Torah (Law), Nevi'im (Prophets), and Ketuvim (Writings). By looking at the structure of the Hebrew Bible, we discover how these three sections work together to tell one cohesive story and how that arrangement can deepen our understanding of books like Psalms. Finally, we take a fast-paced journey through the Old Testament story. From creation and covenant, to the Exodus, the kingdom, exile, and the promises of restoration, we trace the unfolding story of the God of Israel and His commitment to dwell among His people. Along the way, we see why Israel longed for the coming Messiah and how the Writings—including Psalms—help God's people wrestle with suffering, faithfulness, wisdom, worship, and hope while waiting for God's promises to be fulfilled. This episode lays the foundation for our Psalms series by helping us read Scripture as one unified story centered on God. Understanding that larger story will help us better understand where the Psalms fit, what questions they are addressing, and how they continue to shape the faith of God's people today.Parents: As you listen, consider asking your children, "What do you think the Bible is about?" Their answer may open the door to conversations about how all of Scripture points to God's faithfulness and His desire to dwell with His peopleJoin us for a summer of Psalms. On today's show, Ben sits down with Dr. Iván Chaar López, Assistant Professor with the Department of American Studies at the University of Texas at Austin, to discuss his research on the history and politics of computing and information infrastructures. Iván's recently published book, The Cybernetic Border: Drones, Technology, and Intrusion (Duke University Press), draws on his archival research to show how, as he writes, “the matter of ‘the border' is as much a technological question as it is a cultural one.” During our conversation, we reflect on how cybernetics—the study of circular processes or the “system of systems” in organisms, machines, and organizations—has played a significant role in shaping border and immigration enforcement. Iván discusses the development of technologies like drones, ground sensors, and surveillance networks that turn people into data and depict them as “intruders” in the landscape. This timely conversation grapples with the lineages of the border's violent history and also considers how art and activism challenge us to think about the ways these brutal systems might someday be undone. Writings of Solomon - Proverbs 11:24-31 Jeff Campbell Download
Send us Fan MailKeeping faith quiet can feel like the safest option, especially when the culture feels louder, busier, and more skeptical than ever. But if the gospel really is good news, silence is not a neutral choice. We lean into Pope Paul VI's urgent, compassionate call to evangelization and ask what it looks like to speak the name of Jesus with confidence, without becoming pushy or performative. We walk through the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19-20) as a mission for everyday believers: parents at home, students in class, coworkers in meetings, and neighbors across the fence. Drawing from Evangelii Nuntiandi, we talk about Christian witness that is rooted in Scripture, formed in prayer, and empowered by the Holy Spirit. We also unpack why “modern man listens more willingly to witnesses than to teachers” and how simple choices like kindness, forgiveness, and peace can open real conversations about Christ. Fear is part of the story for most of us, so we get practical: how to start small, how to offer prayer in ordinary moments, and how to trust that the Spirit will give words when you need them (Luke 12:12, Matthew 10:19-20). We also share how visible reminders of faith, including meaningful Christian jewelry and Scripture-inspired accessories, can gently spark questions and create natural openings to share hope. If this encourages you, subscribe for more, share it with a friend who needs courage, and leave a review so more people can find the message. Today on the Daily Nugget, Mike looks at Epistle to the Galatians 1:10–12 and explores why believers can trust the gospel message that Paul preached. Paul explains that his message did not originate from human wisdom, religious tradition, or popular opinion, but came through a direct revelation from Jesus Christ Himself. Mike discusses how Paul's divine calling and revelation gave him the authority to teach boldly and confront false teaching, even when the message was difficult to hear. This episode reminds us that the gospel we believe is trustworthy because its source is not man, but God Himself through Jesus Christ.
