At only 21, Anne Gabanelle and her new husband each packed a suitcase, took the little money they had, and left France. Over the years, Anne wondered why God had led her away from her family and friends to America. Anne now has grown children and owns a French bakery with her husband in Cohasset, Massachusetts. Looking back, Anne can clearly see how God's will has unfolded in her and her husband's life together. “French Memories Bakery” is their ministry. In this week's “mini retreat in a podcast,” hear how Anne and her husband minister to their employees and customers. Lindy—host of Mamas in Spirit—met Anne when she was the recipient of this God-centered hospitality. Listen and discover how you can also dwell in the presence of Christ and share His love in your little corner of the world.

THE SWIMMER (1968) We dive deep in to The Swimmer and discuss and analyze, maybe just a little bit the glorious film directed by Frank Perry, based on a screenplay by Eleanor Perry, from the 12 page short story by John Cheever. "Well-off ad man Ned Merrill (Burt Lancaster) is visiting a friend when he notices the abundance of backyard pools that populate their upscale suburb. Ned suddenly decides that he'd like to travel the eight miles back to his own home by simply swimming across every pool in town."If you're reading this I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart for your support. We will be reading the Gospels as they appear in the Bible, so that means we are starting with Mathew! Can real friendship heal division in the Church? When I sit with John 17, I'm struck that He was praying for a unity that's visible, relational, and compelling—a unity that makes the world stop and notice that He was sent by the Father. That kind of unity shows up in real friendships, in shared service, in conversations where we seek truth together—not to win an argument, but to love each other well and grow together, even when we don't see eye to eye. It's messy, but it's also where the Lord does His best work. In this episode of EquipCast, I sit down with Max Chapman and Jeremiah Zimmerman from the More Mercy apostolate to talk about what this looks like in real life. Max shares how praying with John 17 sparked a deep desire in him to build bridges with Christians from other traditions. What started as simple conversations turned into friendships that not only challenged him but also strengthened his Catholic faith. You'll hear why unity isn't just an ideal for theologians—it's something we're all called to live, one relationship at a time. What if your parish's most “welcoming” events are actually pushing people away? In this episode, I sit down with the team to unpack the surprising truth about relational outreach—and why it's often the last step parishes build, even though it's the first step many people need. We talk about what makes outreach truly relational (hint: it's not donuts after Mass), how to create spaces where people feel like they belong before they believe, and why introverts might just be your parish's secret evangelization weapon. What if your parish's faith formation is creating consumer Catholics instead of disciples? In this episode of EquipCast, I sit down with my team to unpack what faith formation is really supposed to do—and why so many parishes get stuck. We talk about the difference between just teaching information and actually forming hearts and habits. You'll hear why small groups matter, how to spot a healthy ministry, and what it takes to move people from simply learning their faith to living it—and then going on mission. We talk about launching apostolates, forming others, and becoming the kind of disciples who don't just consume content but live it out with joy and purpose. Plus, we share some honest stories, practical tools (like the Discernment Rosary), and plenty of laughs. Did you know that even secular individuals hold religious-like beliefs? Dr. Sri examines the secular world's values, promises of salvation, and utopian ideals, and contrasts these with the core tenets of the Gospel. He revisits the five key aspects of the Kerygma—relationship, rebellion, reconciliation, recreation, and response—and explains how the secular vision borrows from and distorts these principles. _ _ For full shownotes, visit Ascensionpress.com/Allthingscatholic, or text ALLTHINGSCATHOLIC to 33-777 for weekly shownotes sent to your inbox.
What if the biggest thing holding your parish back isn't a lack of programs—but a lack of missionary disciples? In this episode, I sit down with my team to explore a step in parish life that often gets skipped: evangelization formation. We're talking about the part of discipleship where people go from passive participants to confident, Spirit-led missionaries—and why that shift changes everything. We get honest about what it actually takes to form missionary disciples—not just run more programs. You'll hear real behind-the-scenes stories from parishes on the ground, practical tips that work, and ways they faced the most common roadblocks we see, like fear, self-doubt, or the sense of being alone in mission. We break down evangelization formation into clear, doable steps—like helping people pray out loud, share their story, and discover their charisms. Whether your parish is just starting out or ready to go deeper, this episode will shift how you think about forming people for mission—and give you the tools to start. Homeschool mamas have the best of intentions this time of year. Whether you love hitting the ground running with all the subjects or you prefer easing in gently, there's no one right way to start your homeschool year. But today, I'm making the case for taking it slow on purpose. Why? Because starting with just a few key subjects (or skills) can help you build momentum, create muscle memory, and stack up some early wins. And those wins matter, especially when things don't go quite according to plan (which they never do perfectly, right?). In today's podcast episode, we're talking about: ✨ The truth about how brick-and-mortar schools really start the year (spoiler: they take it slow too!) ✨ Why limiting subjects for few weeks is a smart move ✨ How to train your brain—and your kids'—to get back into your homeschool rhythm ✨ Evaluating and tweaking to find your sweet spot ✨ How to stay focused on people over accomplishments You really can ease into your homeschool year with confidence and peace, because even if you feel rushed, there is absolutely no rush to God's plans for your children's education. Grab your earbuds and let's kick off this ease-filled year together! And if you need help troubleshooting when you feel stuck, come work with me inside the Happy, Holy Mama community for the support you need—exactly when you need it. Jeremy is one of the premiere Catholic worship leaders & joins Taylor on this week's episode to discuss their shared passions: sports, faith & music. They have gotten to work together at multiple events & finally turned on the recorders to share one of their conversations with you. They kick the show off discussing how they both coach at small Catholic schools (where they are actually rivals!) and the way sports can bring people together. They share some of Pope Leo's recent comments about the intersection of faith & sports and how they have seen those in real time during their many years coaching. Then, they talk about the importance of music to our everyday lives, including how it impacts how we pray. Jeremy shares about his experiences leading worship but also how his band reaches people with the Good News simply through good music, like good ol' Switchfoot. He is a talented and great man so I'm happy that we FINALLY recorded this and get to share it with you today :) Subscribe/Rate Never miss out on the craziness of each episode by hitting the subscribe button RIGHT NOW!
