    Episode 5 — Factory Farming

Play Episode Listen Later Dec 31, 1969 95:39

This was the last show of 2019. We talked about a really hard subject factory farming. What is a factory farm? It is defined as the extreme confinement of livestock for commercial use. This agricultural technique was invented by scientists in the early 1900’s in an effort to maximize efficiency and production so that farms could manage a growing population and higher demand for animal meat. It was designed to use as little space as possible, require less maintenance, and allow farmers to manage their animals quickly. Farmers have chosen profit over animal welfare leading to public outcry for better conditions, in turn, many legislations have passed, but still, to this day we have a failed system and animals are being unnecessarily cruelly tortured by their very own “caregivers”.
