In a career spanning four decades, Dame Kristin Scott Thomas has become one of Britain's most celebrated actors: Four Weddings and a Funeral, The English Patient, The Horse Whisperer, Tell No One and Slow Horses, alongside acclaimed stage work including her Olivier‑winning performance in The Seagull. Yet her path was far from straightforward: discouraged at drama school, she moved to Paris as an au pair and rebuilt her training from scratch. Her childhood had already been shaped by profound loss after the deaths of her father and stepfather in near‑identical accidents. She has now channelled these experiences into her directorial debut, My Mother's Wedding, which she also co‑wrote and stars in, alongside Scarlett Johansson, Sienna Miller and Emily Beecham. We talk about her early grief, the emotional armour she built as a teenager, the chaotic experience of filming with Prince, making My Mother's Wedding, the power of women writing women, her unforgettable Fleabag monologue and the joy and clarity she has found in her 60s. ✨ IN THIS EPISODE: 00:00 Intro 03:15 Reclaiming a Tragic Narrative 04:59 Joy in her 60s 06:22 Co Writing With Her Husband 07:03 Animation and Childhood Memory 09:07 Casting and Creative Reunions 12:23 Failure One: Prince Film Debut 17:06 Fame Theater and Radical Roles 24:09 Under the Cherry Moon Lessons 25:28 Failure Two: Teenage Grief 26:24 Childhood Losses 27:58 Eldest Sibling Burden 28:37 Acting Through Sadness 29:59 English Patient Reflections 33:19 Four Weddings Role 36:39 Therapy and Healing 43:41 Grief Advice and Faith 45:45 Football and Identity 49:16 Aging and Gratitude
Just go with your gut. Those were the five words. That was everything the law allowed Taylor Parker's clinic to say when someone called and asked whether Parker was really pregnant. The clinic manager knew the truth. Taylor Parker had undergone a hysterectomy years earlier. The pregnancy she had been performing for nine months — the silicone belly, the stolen ultrasound images, the gender reveal, the nursery — was physically impossible. But HIPAA protected Parker's medical records. And Reagan Simmons-Hancock, the twenty-one-year-old mother who had befriended Parker after hiring her as a wedding photographer, had no idea what was coming. On October 9, 2020, Parker went to Reagan's home in New Boston, Texas. Reagan was thirty-five weeks pregnant with her second daughter. The medical examiner documented over a hundred and fifty injuries to her body. Parker cut the unborn baby from Reagan and fled toward Oklahoma. The infant, Braxlynn Sage Hancock, did not survive. Parker was pulled over by a trooper with the baby in her lap. At the hospital, doctors confirmed she had not given birth. She did not have a uterus.A jury convicted Parker of capital murder in one hour. She is the youngest woman on Texas death row. Her appeals have been exhausted through the U.S. Supreme Court. Reagan's family is now fighting for legislation that would let doctors warn people when a pregnancy is being faked — closing the five-word gap that cost their daughter's life. The Taylor Parker case and the Netflix documentary Maternal Instinct, fully covered.Join Our SubStack For AD-FREE ADVANCE EPISODES & EXTRAS!: https://hiddenkillers.substack.com/ Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? In this episode of Here I Am, Shai sits down with Nate Shalev, co-founder of Shalom Dykes, an organization creating safe, inclusive, and joyful spaces for Jewish LGBTQ dykes. Nate shares their decade-long journey organizing with the NYC Dyke March, a community that once championed inclusion for all, and how everything shifted after October 7th when conversations about Israel within the march's leadership broke down, anti-Zionism was embedded into the organization's values, and Jewish members were effectively pushed out.Rather than counter-protesting, Nate channeled that loss into building something new. Shalom Dykes launched with no idea who would show up, only to draw hundreds, then 600, then 2,500 signatures on an open letter. Nate reflects on what it means to need your community's safe spaces while being told you no longer belong in them, the painful double life of watching a wife check hostage lists each morning while colleagues with no personal connection to the conflict demanded performative statements, and why building joyful, visible Jewish queer community is itself an act of resistance and hope.Guest: Nate Shalev, Co-founder of Shalom DykesConsider DONATING to help us continue and expand our media efforts. Brad Crowell 0:01 Fuck yeah. Lesley Logan 0:02 Welcome to the Be It Till You See It podcast where we talk about taking messy action, knowing that perfect is boring. I'm Lesley Logan, Pilates instructor and fitness business coach. I've trained thousands of people around the world and the number one thing I see stopping people from achieving anything is self-doubt. My friends, action brings clarity and it's the antidote to fear. Each week, my guest will bring bold, executable, intrinsic and targeted steps that you can use to put yourself first and Be It Till You See It. It's a practice, not a perfect. Let's get started. Lesley Logan 0:48 Hello, Be It babe. How are you? Welcome to the Fuck Yeah Friday episode. These quick and dirty fun episodes, Brad said he's going to join me on them, and he will at some point. I think. They'll still be quick and dirty, but they're fun because we're just bringing a thing that we do from our communities into this, which is just that, instead of saying what inspired me from the internet this week, because the internet has been non-inspiring. Oh my god, I've made my algorithms just mostly beautiful nail designs, but somehow stupid shit keeps coming through. So we're keeping things light and fun, and if you're in our Agency community, which is where we business coach Pilates, instructors, or our eLevate community, which is where our internship program members are, then you will have this channel where you can complain about something that happened that day, and then you have to have a win immediately. So, since we already do wins here, just figured I'd also get to complain too, but I'll have a win afterwards. And you can send in your "I need a moment" and your win, but make sure you send in both, or just a win, because if you just send an "I need a moment," we will delete it. Okay. Lesley Logan 1:52 All right, so my moment is this, okay? I really don't like how people like to tell you how busy you are, because one, then I have to explain to them that I appear to be very busy, but I actually just have boundaries in place to protect my energy levels. And I love sharing that in a podcast format in a way that can help educate and give permission to people, but when it's a one-on-one situation, usually the people who are saying it are the ones who are kind of a little upset that they don't have you at their beck and call. And it's not that you don't have me, like you can't have me, you can absolutely have my attention and my time and my things, I just have boundaries for when that is due, when that can happen. And it's a little annoying because it makes when you say like, "Oh, you're so busy," it's like I'm in control of my day, my love. And so I guess my moment that I'm just, it's like I'm tired of people telling me how busy I am when I'm actually just organized and have boundaries in place, healthy ones. And sometimes I move them to do some things, and sometimes I can't move them to do some things, but I'm certainly not going to just move things around just so I'm available during the times that people want at their convenience, because it's not convenient for me. And guess what, you too are allowed to be busy, in air quotes, and have boundaries, and organized chaos, and then I have to fit myself into there, right? Like, we all get to do this, it's not just about me, we all can be like this. So that's what I'm a little irritated by this week, because I'm just tired of hearing it, and I'm tired of it being directed at like as if I don't want to spend time with someone, or I'm an asshole. No, no, I just know how much energy it takes to be me throughout the day, and I want to be me when you're with me. That's what I want. Lesley Logan 3:33 So, my win, you know, this win is going to be a bit of a team win, but I'm just really proud of our team. In the last couple of months, we've had a lot going on. We had a five-day website-not-working thing. We had one of our major team members end up needing to go into a hospital because of what's going on with their pregnancy. And then we had Brad and I gone for a month, and we had spring training, and we had the announcement of summer tour, and blah blah blah. And I will just say, like, while nothing went as planned, everything is going better, and I'm just really proud of the team and myself, like just really kind of sticking to the vision and the values, and sharing the wins with each other, and complimenting each other, and supporting each other, and stepping up for each other, and doing the best we can while we're down a person while they're on their amazing maternity leave. And I'm proud to say that, like, the wheels are still on the bus, the ship is still set to sail, and things are still going, and you really learn a lot about what is possible and what is going right, and what systems do you have in place. And instead of going, "Oh, what, we don't have a system for that?" it's like, "Oh wait, what happened?" Oh, just like just keeping their attitude and head on straight. And it's just, you know, so our win as a team is that, you know, six years of growing this team and putting systems in place have allowed us to be in a very intense season with a little bit more polite juggling than we want with one less person, but we're doing it and proud of us. And you know, this too shall pass, because that person's maternity leave won't be forever. Thank God. And I know we'll just celebrate when they come back, but I'm just really proud of what we've done. So that's my win. Lesley Logan 5:09 So now yours, you send them in to me. You can send them in to beitpod.com/questions. You can DM me on Instagram. Here we go. @on_point_pilates_studio has a couple, so personal practice has been strong, outside daily sunshine, and trained with my mentor on a one-to-one, and took a class, check, check. Admin wins: got a newsletter and a text blast out, submitted payroll to workers' comp, up to date. You know, it's nice when you get to do things for yourself, and you can check all the boxes of your CEO time. Way to go, Amanda. It was so fun to have you at the Pilates retreat as well, and I love that you are celebrating wins, both personal and professional. @_mariedecurtis: closed up my second month as a Pilates instructor. It still feels unreal, like a dream. Oh my god, I love that you're celebrating two months. I love it. I just had somebody Slack and say, "Well, I've only been teaching a little bit, so I feel like such an imposter," and it's like, yeah, because you're a beginner. You're not an imposter, you're just a beginner, and you should be a beginner, and a lot of us should be a beginner, and that will allow you to help your clients be beginners. And why is it bad to be a beginner? Not. So, congratulations, congratulations on your two months as a Pilates instructor. Thank you for letting us celebrate that with you. Lesley Logan 6:22 And now let's get a mantra for you to close out this week: I believe in myself fully. I believe in myself fully. I believe in myself fully. All right, loves, you know what to do until next time. Be it till you see it. Have a good day. Lesley Logan 6:40 That's all I got for this episode of the Be It Till You See It Podcast. It's Thursday, June 18th, A.D. 2026. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 140 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com. I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Jonathan Clark More countries persecute religious citizens More countries are seeing high levels of social hostilities involving religion. A new Pew Research report found 55 countries recorded high or very high levels of such religious hostilities in 2023. That figure has risen three years in a row. Christians faced harassment in the largest number of countries compared to any other religion. Countries with very high levels of religious hostilities include Bangladesh, India, Nigeria, Pakistan, and Syria. Most of those countries also rank in the top 10 most oppressive countries for Christians according to Open Doors. Luke 6:22-23 says, “Blessed are you when men hate you, and when they exclude you, and revile you, and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of Man's sake. Rejoice in that day and leap for joy! For indeed your reward is great in Heaven.” Pro-family charter signed involving 20 of 54 African countries Lawmakers in Africa gathered for the Fourth African Parliamentary Conference on Family Sovereignty and Values this month in Ghana. Attendees represented 20 out of 54 countries across the continent. Lawmakers signed a pro-family charter at the conference, reports LifeSiteNews. The charter defends the traditional family and opposes abortion and sexually perverted lifestyles. Britain to ban social media for kids The United Kingdom plans on banning social media for children under 16. Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced the ban on Monday which will take effect next year. The U.K. joins other countries putting restrictions on social media use for children. These countries include Australia, Brazil, Canada, and Indonesia. The U.K. ban will affect platforms like Snapchat, TikTok, YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, and X. Bulgarian Christians now allowed to evangelize door-to-door The European Court of Human Rights ruled to protect door-to-door evangelism last week. The case began in Bulgaria where the government issued a broad ban on the practice. Nicolas Bauer with the European Centre for Law and Justice told EWTN News, “Evangelizing is often viewed with suspicion in a secularized Europe. The European Court of Human Rights ruling reaffirms a basic requirement of religious freedom for believers: the right to the same freedom of expression as everyone else.” Alabama officials threaten mail-order abortion kill pill providers In the United States, the state of Alabama issued cease and desist letters to mail order abortion providers last week. The companies were illegally providing chemical abortion-inducing drugs to residents in the state. Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall said, “Alabama's law is clear, abortion is illegal in this state. These companies are not only breaking the law, they are deceiving Alabama consumers about the very real dangers of these drugs. That stops now. Anyone who tries to exploit Alabamians for profit while flouting our laws will be prosecuted to the fullest extent permitted by law.” Habakkuk 2:9 and 12 says, “Woe to him who covets evil gain for his house, That he may set his nest on high, that he may be delivered from the power of disaster! … Woe to him who builds a town with bloodshed, who establishes a city by iniquity!" Elon Musk became Earth's first trillionaire Tech entrepreneur Elon Musk became the world's first trillionaire last week. His company SpaceX went public on Friday in the biggest initial public offering of all time. His shares in the company at the time were over $766 billion. Combined with his Tesla shares of $280 billion, his net worth pushed past the trillion-dollar mark. This comes 14 years after Musk crossed the billionaire threshold. Gallup: 65% of Americans say religiosity benefits society And finally, a new Gallup poll found that most Americans still believe religiosity would benefit the United States. Sixty-five percent of respondents said it would be positive for society if more Americans were religious. But that's down from 75% back in 2013. Americans are divided on whether the federal government should promote moral values. Forty-five percent say the government should be involved while 50 percent say it should not be involved. Gallup noted, “The poll comes at a time when a Republican presidential administration has sought to elevate the role of religion in public life, including by establishing the White House Office of Faith, beginning government meetings with Christian prayers, and encouraging federal workers to express their faith in the workplace.” Close And that's The Worldview on this Thursday, June 18th, in the year of our Lord 2026. Hidden Killers With Tony Brueski | True Crime News & Commentary
The evidence that helped convict Adam Montgomery of murder the first time — multiple independent witnesses to a pattern of violence against Harmony, documented injuries nobody disputed — has been excluded from the retrial. The New Hampshire Supreme Court's ruling severing the assault and murder charges means the prosecution walks into the Harmony Montgomery retrial without the material that made the first conviction feel certain. What remains: Kayla Montgomery's testimony, the cover-up evidence, and a defense team ready to argue that Kayla killed Harmony and Adam hid the body. The first jury took less than a day. The second jury hears less evidence, a compromised star witness, and an alternative theory the defense has been sharpening since the first trial.Criminal defense attorney Bob Motta (Defense Diaries) joins Tony Brueski for the complete interview — the reversal mechanics, the retrial strategy, and the unanswered questions that define this case. Including: whether Montgomery's silence about Harmony's location can ever be broken, whether the civil judgments carry weight in a criminal courtroom, and what the system owes a family that has been waiting for justice since December 2019. I dare Leftists to hit PAUSE for just a beat and look at Trump's character as compared to themselves. Take the BEST of them, and compare to Trump.Right now, the character issue is that Trump's family continues making money. That his kids are on the boards of companies. Shocker: the children of a self-made billionaire, none of whom are crackheads cutting illegal deals with the Chinese, are on Boards. And they have thriving businesses, which all of them had PRIOR to Trump being in office. Compare these kids to Hunter Biden. Or any other kids of presidents.Trump OWNS the Democrats in character. Do you want a list of Leftist rogues? Because you should grab lunch, and sit back if you want me to read you that list.Gavin Newsom sits on top, presently. And with good reason. And what of his aunt, Nancy Pelosi? What of Ilhan Omar and the MN gang of thieves?Name me your Democrat-controlled state of city and I will give you a list of rogues, and all the names will be Democrats in leadership.Simply put: conservatism equals character. Trump has more character in his pinky fingernail than all of the Democrats combined.Remember what they decided to judge his character on. The statement that some women are so enthralled with rich, powerful men, they will allow those men to “grab ‘em by the hoohah”. I know! The NERVE of Trump speaking the truth about how some women behave. There is not a man on Earth who hasn't said or thought the same. Nor is there a woman on Earth who hasn't thought or ALLOWED it.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
Do you ever find yourself editing down your dreams before they even have a chance to take root? There is a tendency, especially among smart, capable women, to minimize what we actually want. We tell ourselves, "I don't need much, I'm fine," or we worry that having big ambitions somehow makes us greedy or ungrateful for what we already have. But wanting more doesn't mean you don't appreciate your life, it means your frequency is rising. In this episode, I'm feeling a little spicy, and we are getting entirely honest about Overcoming Playing Small. Wanting more is not a character flaw; it is a natural, soul-level wiring. Your soul came into this physical experience to expand, learn, and grow. When you dismiss your inner cravings for more rest, more support, more income, or a bigger impact, you aren't being humble, you are just holding yourself back. We dive into: *- Desires as Data: How to stop treating your wants as things to be edited, and instead view them as essential feedback showing you exactly where you are being called to expand. *- The "I'm Fine" Trap: Why we use minimization in our language, and how to accurately name the underlying boredom, antsiness, or dissatisfaction that signals a need for change. *- Ego Chasing vs. Soul-Aligned Ambition: Discerning the difference between a superficial push for status and the deep, authentic pull toward work and relationships that bring true joy and alignment. *- The Cost of Staying Small: Asking the tough, illuminating question of who in your life benefits when you dial down your brightness and choose to stay underemployed or unfulfilled. *- You have a soul business to want more, and you can stretch your arms wide for abundance while remaining a grounded, generous, and emotionally mature human being. If you are ready to stop shoulding on yourself, put down the editor's pen, and find the courage to say "I want," join me for this conversation. Let's identify that very first, concrete action step to move you toward the expansive life you are meant to live. --- Living in Clarity waitlist is up now! As we read in Numbers 20, God punishes Moses for the sin he committed by stating that he would not be allowed to enter the Promised Land. Why was God so harsh with Moses? Hadn't Moses done many things that pleased the Lord? Surely God could pardon this one sin. So why didn't He? As Michael answers this question, we discover it doesn't just lie in Moses' disobedience, but in a prophecy relating to the coming Messiah. This prophecy is profound as it not only foretells of the death of Christ, but also His character and the pouring out of the Holy Spirit. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------DONATE: https://evidence4faith.org/give/WEBSITE: https://evidence4faith.org/NEWSLETTER: http://eepurl.com/hpazV5BOOKINGS: https://evidence4faith.org/bookings/CONTACT: Evidence 4 Faith, 349 Knights Ave Kewaskum WI 53040 , info@evidence4faith.orgMy goal is that their hearts, having been knit together in love, may be encouraged, and that they may have all the riches that assurance brings in their understanding of the knowledge of the mystery of God, namely, Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. - Colossians 2:2-3CREDITS: Developed & Hosted by Michael Lane. Shiur given by Rabbi Bezalel Rudinsky on Inyanei Milchama, Hatzalas Nefasos, and Abortions. Shiur recorded in Yeshivas Ohr Reuven, Monsey, NY.
In this episode, Sharna sits down with Shalina Lodhia, criminologist counsellor and founder of a trauma-informed practice specialising in intergenerational trauma, domestic and family violence, and abortion grief. Shalina shares her own deeply personal experience of navigating abortion, twice, under very different life circumstances, and what she's learned about the grief that so often follows in silence. This is a conversation about the emotions no one tells you it's okay to feel. The paradox of relief and loss. The isolation of having to hide an experience that your body is living through. And the complete absence of support that so many women encounter both during and after. In this episode, Shalina and Sharna explore: The emotional reality of having an abortion at 23, in hiding, with no support and no information about what comes after How the experience shifted in her thirties as awareness, spirituality, and self-knowledge changed how she processed the grief Why the medical system so often fails women in these moments, treating them as a number rather than a human being in distress The paradox of conflicting emotions, relief, grief, guilt, peace, and why all of them are valid at the same time The role of intergenerational trauma and why, for some women, the decision not to continue a pregnancy is an act of conscious cycle-breaking How Shalina now supports other women through abortion grief, including those in abusive relationships navigating impossible choices Why post-abortion support is one of the most overlooked gaps in women's healthcare in Australia A message for anyone listening: Whatever your reason for having an abortion, it is valid. You are allowed to feel every emotion, including ones that seem to contradict each other. You are not alone in this. I'm joined by Dr. Jeffrey Sankoff to talk about three exercise “rules” you may be allowed to break: you don't always need to spread workouts across the week, intensity doesn't have to come from a formal interval session, and most short workouts don't require a complicated hydration or fueling plan. The Exercise Rules You're Allowed to BreakHave you ever skipped a workout because you couldn't do the “right” one? Maybe you didn't have time for the gym, a long hike, or a structured bike ride. Today, we revisit Voltaire's reminder that “the great is the enemy of the good” and apply it to exercise. The evidence is reassuring: weekend workouts count, short bursts of effort during the day count, and for most workouts under an hour, hydration hype may matter far less than we've been led to believe.Dr. Jeffrey Sankoff, an ER physician, Ironman triathlete, triathlon coach, and host of the evidence-focused TriDoc Podcast, joins me for this conversation. While Jeff works with endurance athletes, today's discussion is for anyone who wants to live long and well while still managing the realities of work, family, travel, and everyday life.First, we break the calendar rule. Many people assume exercise has to be spread evenly throughout the week, but a 2024 Circulation study on “weekend warrior” physical activity found that people who concentrated their moderate-to-vigorous exercise into one or two days still had lower risk for many diseases compared with inactive people, especially cardiometabolic conditions such as hypertension, diabetes, obesity, and sleep apnea. The study was observational, so it does not prove weekend-only exercise is ideal, and injury risk still matters. But the practical message is clear: if weekdays are impossible, weekends still count. Next, we break the formal-interval rule. High intensity does not always have to mean a structured HIIT class, a bike trainer, or a carefully timed workout. A 2026 European Heart Journal study found that a higher percentage of vigorous physical activity was associated with lower risk across several chronic diseases and mortality outcomes. Even a small proportion of vigorous activity may matter, meaning short real-life bursts—taking the stairs quickly, walking briskly uphill, carrying groceries with purpose, or chasing a child or grandchild—can become meaningful movement when they raise your breathing and effort level. This study was also observational, so it cannot prove cause and effect, and anyone with medical concerns should check with their clinician before adding vigorous bursts. Finally, we break the bottle rule. For endurance races, long workouts, or hot-weather exercise, hydration, electrolytes, and carbohydrates can matter. But for many 30- to 60-minute workouts in ordinary conditions, a formal hydration or fueling plan may not be necessary. The American College of Sports Medicine's position stand emphasizes fluid replacement to support hydration during physical activity, but the need depends on duration, sweat loss, heat, and intensity. A practical “N of 1” approach is to weigh yourself before and after a typical workout to see how much fluid you actually lose. We also discuss electrolytes and carbohydrates. Electrolytes are mostly salts, and they become more relevant with long, hot, sweaty, or repeated sessions. Carbohydrate-containing drinks can help with longer endurance performance, but for a 35-minute walk or a short gym session, sugar in your bottle is usually not the bottleneck. A systematic review on carbohydrates and exercise performance found benefits in longer exercise contexts, but that does not mean every short workout needs sports drinks or gels. TakeawaysDon't let the perfect workout plan keep you from the good-enough workout you can actually do.If weekdays are packed, a weekend warrior approach may still provide meaningful health benefits.Look for small bursts of vigorous effort in daily life, and for most workouts under an hour, water when thirsty is usually enough.Send us Fan MailSupport the show

Grant & Danny can't believe Sorsby bet on his own games and a judge that's a fan of the team granted him an injunction. What kind of precedent are we setting here?
-Sorsby---the man who has placed at least $90,000 in bets over the years and at least 40 bets on Indiana while he was on the team there---wasgranted a temporary injunction against the NCAA on Monday in Lubbock County Court, allowing him to play this season except for the first 2games-The injunction stated that Sorsby will “suffer a probable, imminent, and irreparable injury if this court does not allow this temporary injunctionto play this year”….uh..was Sorsby threatening to severely injure himself? Is that all it takes now to get back in life?
