Send us a textHappy New Year, Diamond Effect Podcast listeners. In today's first episode of 2026, we're talking about goals—but not in the fluffy, “new year, new you” way. We're focusing on the mindset that actually helps you follow through past January… and definitely past February.Because setting goals isn't just about writing down a number. It's about becoming the kind of leader who can stay consistent, make better decisions, and keep moving forward even when the plan gets messy. In this episode, you'll learn:Why the New Year is a powerful moment to set goals (even if you don't “wait for the perfect time”)The 3 categories of goals that keep you motivated and groundedHow to stop letting timelines sabotage your belief and momentumWhy progress goals (KPIs) are the real secret to achieving big outcomesHow to build the habits, systems, and mindset that make consistency easierThe 3 types of goals to set (and how to think about each):Big Hairy Audacious Goals (BHAGs)Your 3–10 year vision that fuels you. These goals help you focus less on “how” and more on who you need to become.Short-Term Goals (Annual goals)Your 12-month target (revenue, number of clients, etc.) that should feel ambitious—but still believable enough that you can stand behind it and take action.Progress Goals (KPIs)The weekly/daily actions that keep you on track—so you can measure what's working, adjust quickly, and celebrate consistent progress.A mindset shift I want you to take into 2026:If you don't set goals because you “just want to see what happens,” you're leaving your future to chance. And if you don't set goals because you “don't want to be disappointed,” that's not protection—it's avoidance. The real work is building a healthy relationship with goals: using them to guide you, not judge you.Mentioned in this episode:EP # 231 (Dec 12, 2025) - From Idea to Action: The Small Business CEO's Guide to Making Things Happen in 2026EP # 213 (Aug 1, 2025) - Stop Playing It Safe with Your Dreams: Why 10-Year Goals Should Scare You Into ActionEP # 130 (Jan 5, 202$) - How to Achieve Your GoalsWant help planning your 2026 goals? If you're listening before January 13, I'd love to invite you to my complimentary online event:Design Your Success 2026Jan 13–14, 2:00–5:00 PM EESTWe'll set your 2026 goal, identify your top 3 focus areas, and map out the actions you'll take weekly and monthly to make it real—without overwhelm. To join, email me at: maggie@stairwaytoleadership.com

Most New Year goals fail for the same reason: they're fantasies, not systems. In this episode, Marvyn Harrison breaks down why “New Year, New Me” thinking collapses every time — and what actually creates change. This is not about motivation, manifestation, or vague intentions. It's about identity redesign, constraint awareness, and building daily and weekly systems that survive real life. The conversation covers why outcomes don't stick without identity, why willpower is overrated, how to design progress around limited time, energy, and money, and why evidence beats affirmation every time. Along the way, real life interrupts — parenting, noise, humour — reinforcing the point: growth has to work inside chaos, not in spite of it.This episode is a grounded framework for approaching 2026 without self-deception, self-punishment, or false optimism. Send us a textThis episode of The Anthony Amen Show breaks down why most people fail before the New Year even begins — and how to fix it for good.Anthony explains why traditional New Year's resolutions don't work, and why motivation-based goal setting almost always leads to burnout, frustration, and quitting. Instead of vague promises like “lose weight” or “make more money,” he walks through a practical, numbers-based framework that turns big goals into realistic, achievable actions. The conversation dives into SMART goals, prioritization, and why breaking goals down by month, week, and even hour removes overwhelm and decision paralysis. Using real-world business and fitness examples, Anthony shows how massive goals — like building a million-dollar business — become attainable when you focus on systems, vehicles, and consistent execution instead of hype. This episode also challenges how people approach New Year's Eve and New Year's Day, explaining why starting exhausted, hungover, and unfocused sets you up for failure — and how changing that single habit can shift the entire year ahead. This episode is for:• Anyone tired of failing New Year's resolutions• Entrepreneurs who want clarity instead of chaos• Fitness professionals and business owners who want real growth• People who want structure, not motivationIf you want to start the year with clarity, discipline, and a plan that actually compounds, this episode will change how you approach the next 12 months.Subscribe to The Anthony Amen Show for grounded conversations on fitness, business, leadership, and life.Share this episode with someone serious about making this year different.Support the showLearn More at: www.Redefine-Fitness.com

This past week I spoke to a group of local ladies called "The Free Birds", women who are in the empty nest season of life. I called my talk “Five Ways to Fight for Joy as Free Birds” and intertwined parts of my grief story, my menopause journey, and thoughts on entering a new year with five practical ways to experience more joy in this unique season of life. Over the weekend I recorded my talk and am releasing it as an episode today so that you can hear it as well. I've been wanting to do something on the topic of being an empty nester, so I am excited to have this to share. And, even if you're not a "free bird", most of what I talked about will still be applicable to you, so I hope you will listen too! When I spoke in person, I cut a few things out for the sake of time, so the version you'll hear today is like the "extended cut", an advantage of recording it at home after the event. I did decide to leave out some of the more private details that I shared with the ladies about the night of the accident - things that I'm not ready to put out into the podcast world at this point…or ever…but again, if you're wanting to hear more of my grief story, the things that I DO feel comfortable sharing are in Episode 1, and woven throughout almost every episode of the podcast. So, listen in to what I shared with these women - "Brave Jodi" giving public speaking a try again after a long stretch of feeling like it wasn't what God had for me. We'll see what's ahead with this... I'm glad you found this episode. I hope it encourages you and that you can take away just one thing to work on as you fight for joy in 2025! *Don't forget that as a Fighting for Joy listener you can receive 10% off of your first month of counseling services from BetterHelp, my podcast sponsor. Check out my link at betterhelp.com/fightingforjoy. Christian counseling can be such a huge help in this broken world and a major tool in the fight for joy. ** If this episode was encouraging to you, I'd like to ask you to please consider rating the Fighting for Joy podcast, and even leaving a review. Once you find my show, scroll down to where it says “tap to rate” or “write a review”. Tapping to rate literally takes a second or two, and writing a review can be quick as well. Just sharing that you enjoy listening, or that it's an encouragement to you is enough. The longer I do this the more I understand how helpful those ratings and reviews really are, so thanks for considering this. It means a lot!

We are reviewing our year and our successes and failures with our New Year's Resolutions, and we're sharing our intentions for next year. We learn about a study by Robert Sapolsky that argues that testosterone does not increase aggression, but instead emphasizes existing tendencies and encourages people to behave in socially encouraged ways that already exist. But we have questions and concerns about his conclusions and wonder why when male animals of all species hit puberty they behave in ways that are highly aggressive in contrast to their pre-pubescent selves. We also hear about a man who claims he became trapped in the mouth of a humpback whale, and we find out why this situation was not out of the ordinary for him.Listen to more podcasts like this: https://wavepodcastnetwork.comJoin our Candy Club, shop our merch, sign-up for our free newsletter, & more by visiting The Brain Candy Podcast website: https://www.thebraincandypodcast.comConnect with us on social media:BCP Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/braincandypodcastSusie's Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/susiemeisterSarah's Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/imsarahriceBCP on X: https://www.x.com/braincandypodSponsors:Cancel your unwanted subscriptions and reach your financial goals faster with Rocket Money.
