Mollie Engelhart was once a celebrated vegan farm-to-table restaurateur in California. When she decided to put meat back on the menu, a targeted campaign forced her to close her business. She ultimately decided to make the painful decision to uproot her entire life, sell her farm, and rebuild from scratch in Texas. She's the author of the new book “Debunked by Nature: How a Vegan-Chef-Turned-Regenerative-Farmer Discovered that Mother Nature Is a Conservative.”“We're treating the soil and our bodies like we can outsmart them, but we're getting sicker,” she says.Once an ardent believer in the vegan movement, Engelhart now questions much of what she once believed.“Nature taught me my ideas were ridiculous. ... My cow isn't the enemy,” she says.Real environmentalism is “not to avoid nature, but to interact with her; not to try to out-science her, but to remember her wisdom,” she says. How does the health of our soil shape the health of our bodies? In this episode, we dive into the roots of our health crisis and why real change often starts small, with curious consumers and courageous farmers.Views expressed in this video are opinions of the host and the guest, and do not necessarily reflect the views of The Epoch Times.

Omega-3 deficiencies are cutting years off lifespans and driving inflammation and chronic disease. The solution lies in high-quality marine sources, proper purity testing, and consistent supplementation. In this episode, I speak with Oliver Amdrup-Chamby, co-founder of Puori, about what makes Omega-3 effective, why deficiencies persist even in fish-eaters, and how poor-quality creatine often contains contaminants. He explains the importance of EPA and DHA ratios, how oxidation affects potency, and why plant sources often fall short. We also expose the risks of gummies and why full transparency in supplement testing matters. "I would be a very happy man if I had a dollar every time someone said, 'fish oil is fish oil, isn't it?'" ~ Oliver Amdrup-Chamby In This Episode: - Why are Omega-3s essential? How much, and the best sources - Vegan challenges with Omega-3 and DHA conversion - How to measure fish oil quality - Why fish oils go rancid and how to spot it - Heavy metals and toxins in fish oil - Capsules vs liquid: which is better and safer? - QR code transparency and third-party testing - Benefits of creatine: muscle, brain, longevity, menopause - Is synthetic creatine good? In today's episode, we're going to pull back that curtain on podcasting best practices. And some of these conventions are grounded in logic and proven results, and others might just be myths that we're just blindly following. I explain why I think these are legit, and explain why some of these are not accurate. As always your audience may be different than mine, but based on 20 years in podcasting, these are the just some of the best practices I teach at the School of Podcasting. Why is Recording a Test Episode before launch a Podcast Best Practice?Authors have rough draftsAthletes have pre-seasonActors have dress rehearsalWhen you publish the first thing you record, you are essentially publishing a "rough draft." Anytime you do something for the first time, it's not as good as the second. Why is Defining a Clear Topic or Niche a Podcast Best Practice? It makes it easy to create content. If I'm making dinner for a bunch of vegans, I know what I can make and what I couldn't.This makes it easier to market. Now instead of marketing to Vegans, Carnivore, or those who are Glucose Intolerant, etc.You can also lump this in with the advice of "Know your audience."What appears is a downside may be an upside: a smaller but more loyal audience. Why Is Getting to the Topic ASAP a Podcast Best Practice?Do you have a ton of free time?Look at Netflix, when an episode is over it give you an option to skip the credits and go to the next episode. When you go to the next episode, it prompts you to skip the intro. This leads me to believe it is best to get to the content asap. Why is Knowing Why Your Are Podcasting a Podcast Best Practice? When a podcaster doesn't get the result they had hoped to receive, they quit (often before their 10th episode). If you were hired by a company to earn more money, and then they paid you the same (or less) would you stay? Why is Engaging with Audience and Creating a Community a Podcast Best Practice? The previous best practice was "Get to know your audience." This is how you get to know them. This can be on social, email, anyway you can interact with your audience you should do it.Why is Prioritizing Sound Quality a Podcast Best Practice? You want it to be EASY to consume your content. You don't want the audience to strain to consume your content. Reverb or "room noise" can become a serious issue when the listener is in a car with the noise of the tires on the road. Think of it this way, smear vaseline on your glasses and try to watch something. You can do it, but it takes extra effort. We need it to be EASYEven in videos, the key ingredient is not lighting but audio. If I can see you but can't hear you what's the point. You don't need to spend thousands of dollars on equipment. You can get started with a Samson Q2U microphone. If you want to do video, you can get a pair of Rode Wireless Micro microphones and use your phone as a camera. Why is Knowing What You're Going to Say Before Your Press Record a Best Practice?I always say, less planning equals more editing. This can lead to it taking longer to produce an episodeWhile you want it to feel conversational like a phone call with your best friend, it is a performance for a global audience.Without focus, you again tend to ramble, repeat...

Afterwards, Chase details a haunting in Fiji as a result of Cyclone Winston. Finally, we cover this years “31 days of Horror” haunted movie list.
Hope is right at home this episode talking about one of her favorite subjects, humanewashing. Lia Wilbourn joins Hope for a conversation about their mutual frustration with the humane hoax and the deceptive marketing and cover-up tactics employed by the animal farming industry. They explore the detrimental impact of continuing to use the term “factory farming” and argue that the animal advocacy movement should phase it out. Lia and Hope also discuss the cage-free egg industry transition, challenging the notion that this industry shift is a positive development for animals. They also address the criticism of using the word “vegan” and how some people are saying that we shouldn't use the word as it has too many negative connotations. There are lots of strong opinions on advocacy in this one, we unpack it all for you! Lia Wilbourn has been active in a wide range of animal rights activism, including street outreach, demonstrations, writing, social media, speeches and art as activism. She is currently the Farmed Animals Campaign Coordinator at In Defense of Animals, advocating via articles, petitions, videos, etc. and co-hosting a monthly online Vegan Mentor Support Group. She also works with Allied Scholars for Animal Protection, is a volunteer on the Humane Hoax Project team, and is certified in Plant-Based Nutrition through Cornell University. "The vegan experiment is over at Eleven Madison Park," says Eater New York. The high-end restaurant became the world's first three-Michelin-star vegan restaurant in 2021. In two weeks that will change, with meat and fish options returning to the menu. Predictably, meat lovers declared this to be a sign of a backlash to veganism. Episode 264 – "Vegan Voices in Your Head: Internal Family Systems and the Plant-Based Practice"Ever feel like there's a whole committee in your head when it comes to staying consistent with your vegan or plant-based choices? One part of you is passionate about animals and the planet. Another part just wants to fit in at the family dinner table. And yet another whispers that travel would be easier if you weren't vegan at all.If that sounds familiar, nothing has gone wrong..In this episode of Vedge Your Best, Michele introduces Internal Family Systems (IFS), a powerful way of understanding those inner conflicts. Instead of trying to silence the “vegan voices in your head,” you can learn to listen, thank them, and then let your calm, compassionate Self take the lead. What you'll learn in this episode:Why mixed feelings are a normal — and even healthy — part of behavior change. How IFS reframes conflicting thoughts as “parts” that are actually trying to help. Why acknowledging your parts can make self-advocacy as a vegan easier.A short guided practice you can use before meals, social events, or travel.Whether you're navigating restaurants, family gatherings, or planning trips abroad, this episode will help you see inner conflict not as a setback, but as a sign of growth.Listener Challenge:This week, when you feel that tug-of-war inside, don't shut it down. Pause, thank the parts of you that are speaking up, and invite your compassionate Self to guide the next step.Little by little, your vegan journey will feel less conflicted and more peaceful.Subscribe & Review:If you enjoyed this episode, please subscribe and leave a review on your favorite podcast platform. (but thanks for that quote anyway). Hosted by Klein, Ally, and a cast of weirdos (both on the team and from their audience), the show is known for its raw, offbeat style, offering a mix of sarcastic banter, candid interviews, and an unfiltered take on everything from culture to the chaos of everyday life. With a loyal, engaged fanbase and an addiction for pushing boundaries, the show delivers the perfect blend of humor and insight, all while keeping things fun, fresh, and sometimes a little bit illegal. 2024 © 2021 Audacy, Inc. View the Show Notes Page for This Episode Become a Member to Receive Exclusive Content Sign Up to Receive Peter's Weekly Newsletter In this “Ask Me Anything” (AMA) episode, Peter explores how to determine the right diet for yourself rather than searching for a universal “best” diet. He begins by laying out five non-negotiable criteria that any sustainable eating pattern must meet—energy balance, metabolic health, adequate protein, micronutrient sufficiency, and long-term adherence—before introducing a practical rubric for evaluating different diets. Using this framework, Peter walks through the ketogenic, carnivore, vegan, and Mediterranean diets, highlighting their strengths, ideal candidates for each, and common pitfalls such as micronutrient gaps or adherence challenges. He explains why this guidance is aimed at people who feel overwhelmed by diet choices, not zealots defending a single approach, and provides practical advice on using tools like DEXA scans, lab markers, continuous glucose monitors, and symptom tracking to assess whether a diet is truly working. If you're not a subscriber and are listening on a podcast player, you'll only be able to hear a preview of the AMA.
