November is a time for reflection, and paying tribute to Canadians who fought in the wars. The Canadian Legacy Project mission and goals are highlighted. A special tribute to Reverend Ron Predika, host of The Blues Witness on CJSW for 20 years. Ron passed away 10 years ago and is lovingly remembered by his many fans. Leonard Cohen passed away 3 years ago and is remembered with a poem and one of his final songs. The top 7 over 70 award winners are announced . Details of the FLC Seniors live theatre production “More Than a Number” on Nov 29 at Kerby Centre. Some Tips are shared from Readers Digest on Secrets to a Happier Life.
This month’s Episode deals with an exciting new project by Author and former UofC Sociology Professor Gillian Ranson called: Boomers Getting Older. Linda interviews Nell Smith, whose book “10 Tips to Retire to the Life You Love” explains retirement as a process, complete with tasks designed to understand your retirement dimensions. Cathy talks about a summer spent immersed in a new role: caregiver.
This month we talk about hearing loss and the effects on cognitive decline as we age.
Cathy does a book review with Ramie Liddle, co-writer of Driving Miss Norma, a 90 year old senior who embarks on a road trip with her family instead of taking cancer treatment. Linda recaps the details of the National Dementia Strategy, “Together we Aspire” announced by the Federal Government in June 2019. Cathy ends the show with the changing eating habits of seniors.
