The Gospel on the Radio Talk Show with Pastor Jack King of Tallahassee, Florida
Reclaiming the Mission: A State of the Kingdom Report In this episode, Pastor Jack King provides a sobering yet hopeful "State of the Kingdom" address. Reflecting on his 47 years of ministry in Tallahassee, Pastor Jack compares the current cultural climate to the days of Samuel, where the lamp of God had grown dim. From the decline of Pentecostal institutions to the "burnout" culture of modern ministry, this message is a clarion call for the Church to adapt to a "Babylonian" culture without losing its biblical soul. -- Pastor Jack reflects on the recent State of the Union and how leadership requires intentional communication rather than just "fire and brimstone." -- The decline of the American church is documented by groups like Barna and Exponential, showing a significant disconnect with younger generations. -- The "COVID effect" has left many churches reeling, as regular attendees dropped out and have yet to return to active fellowship. -- A look at the history of the Open Bible Churches and the alarming rate at which Bible colleges and training centers are closing. -- The danger of "Transfer Growth," where churches grow by taking members from other congregations rather than reaching the unchurched. -- The necessity of moving away from the 1960s-90s "church mold" to effectively reach a culture chained to digital devices. -- A plea for the congregation to share the load, noting that placing the entire burden of ministry on the pastor and their spouse leads to unsustainable burnout. The Gospel on the Radio Talk Show with Pastor Jack King of Tallahassee, Florida
In this message, Pastor Jack King explores the divine perspective on human behavior. While the world is often distracted by outward appearances and eloquent speeches, Scripture tells us that God is focused on something entirely different: the intentions and integrity of the human heart. By walking through the "six things the Lord hates, yea seven," we gain a clearer picture of what breaks the heart of God and how we can align our lives with His righteousness. -- God doesn't judge by the standards of men; while we are impressed by wealth, status, or "flowery prayers," God is looking for humility and an honest conversation. -- A lying tongue is more than just a mistake; it is an act of pride and arrogance that attempts to deceive the Holy Spirit, as seen in the sobering story of Ananias and Sapphira. -- True generosity is measured by sacrifice, not by the amount given, illustrated by the widow who gave her last two pennies while others gave out of their abundance. -- Hands that shed innocent blood and hearts that devise wicked imaginations are direct affronts to the Creator who loves humanity and hears the cry of the oppressed. -- Integrity means "clearing the air" quickly—owning up to mistakes and dealing with consequences immediately rather than hiding behind a web of deceit. The Gospel on the Radio Talk Show with Pastor Jack King of Tallahassee, Florida
There is an old expression many of us heard growing up: "Just follow the trail of the money." If you want to understand why the world is in the state it is in—why there is so much crime, cheating, and scandal—you eventually have to come down to the brass tacks. The Apostle Paul nailed it when he wrote to young Timothy, declaring that the love of money is the root of all evil. As a self-described "ordinary person," I see things through a layman's lens. When I hear the news snippets of the day, I realize there is a tool the devil uses to drive the darkness we see on the landscape of life. Money brings power. It allows you to buy what you want and go where you want, but more dangerously, it gives you the ability to sway people. This power isn't just found in high-stakes politics; it's an addiction that can mirror the grip of gambling. I once knew a man who was thought to be incredibly wealthy, having built and sold a successful company. Yet, when he passed, his family discovered the truth: the casinos had taken it all. Every dime was gone, and the house was mortgaged to the hilt. That is the destructive power of a heart captured by the pursuit of wealth. This pursuit extends into the political realm, where winning at any cost becomes the goal. In our country, the prestige of the presidency and the power of the legislature are highly sought after. But with that power comes a responsibility for integrity. From a common-sense perspective, we must protect the sanctity of our civic duties. Just as I must show a driver's license to prove who I am in any other facet of life, our systems of power must be guarded against the "hanky-panky" that occurs when the love of power outweighs the love of truth. As Christians, we are called to a radical alternative. Our message is not one of wealth, fame, or prestige. It is the message of the servant. Jesus Himself said He did not come to be ministered to, but to minister. If money begins to cloud the vision of a person, a business, or even a church, it becomes a weight that leads to darkness. We must remain a people who are willing to turn the other cheek and pray for those who despitefully use us. When we stop chasing the trail of money and start following the footsteps of the Savior, we find the only power that truly matters: the power to expand the borders of God's kingdom. The Gospel on the Radio Talk Show with Pastor Jack King of Tallahassee, Florida
Preparation in the Desert: The Unexpected Journey of Jeff Farmer In this episode, Pastor Jack King sits down with seasoned leader Reverend Jeff Farmer to discuss the difference between religious tradition and a transformative relationship with Jesus Christ. Jeff opens up about his upbringing in a mainline denomination where he checked every religious box—baptism, youth leadership, and scouting—yet remained spiritually dead until a miraculous encounter shook his family. The heart of the conversation focuses on the "silent years"—an 18-year period where Jeff, despite feeling a clear call to ministry, found himself excelling in the secular business world. From managing credit at Sherwin-Williams to serving as president of a large nonprofit, Jeff explains how God uses "secular" skills like accounting, management, and real estate to prepare His servants for kingdom leadership. -- Jeff's transition from being "churched" to having a true "Damascus Road" encounter with Christ. -- The miracle of Dr. Larry Hammond: A terminal diagnosis turned into a hospital hallway celebration. -- The 18-year prophetic detour: Learning to trust God's timing when the "benches" feel permanent. -- How corporate experience at Sherwin-Williams and Ketch Industries served as "Egypt" for a modern-day Joseph. -- The importance of faithfulness in the marketplace as a prerequisite for vocational ministry.
