In this episode, we speak with Miri Yudovich, Co-founder and CEO of SafeHouse Tech. SafeHouse Tech is on a mission to secure everyone online. Since launching its flagship app BodyGuard in 2019, the cybersecurity startup has protected over 4 million users, become breakeven by 2024, and built a distribution network spanning 5,000 retail outlets across more than 700 cities. Miri co-founded the company and served as COO before stepping into the CEO role - guiding SafeHouse from early vision to wide-scale execution. Her leadership style is pragmatic, resilient, and deeply human. “I'm just a very pragmatic person. I like to do things my way.” This conversation is about calculated risk, women leadership, letting go of control, building systems that scale, and creating balance on your own terms. We explore: How Miri's path shifted when she chose to follow the unknown. She shares how her entry into SafeHouse wasn't part of a linear career plan - but rather a leap driven by instinct, curiosity, and a willingness to bet on the unexpected. “I thought to myself, I don't know where this might lead… for me, that was the epitome of risk-taking.” The early days of building in an overlooked market. When Miri and her co-founders pitched B2C cybersecurity, they were dismissed. But years later, they had built what critics said didn't exist. “Six years ago, we told VCs… they told us, ‘You've completely lost it.' 4 million clients later, we created an industry.” The entrepreneurial grind - and seven phases of hell. Miri gives an honest account of what it takes to scale, especially in markets that are still being shaped. “Every startup goes through seven phases of hell.” How preparing for maternity leave became a case study in scalable leadership. Instead of stepping away reactively, she built an entire department to function without her - turning what could've been a liability into one of the company's biggest strengths. “I had to forgo power and responsibility. I had to bring in people, I had to teach them, because I had a deadline.” What motherhood taught her about control, leadership, and humility. Her transition into parenthood revealed a core truth: you can't control outcomes, but you can control how you show up and how fast you learn. “Becoming a mother humbled me… and I think that's the essence of being a CEO, a COO, an entrepreneur. Making decisions, making them quickly, learning from them quickly, and being humble enough to know that you can't control all outcomes” Balancing ambition and boundaries. Miri shaped SafeHouse's meeting culture around her life - not the other way around. “Because I was one of the founders, I could dictate the times of the meetings… after 4pm there were no meetings unless it was urgent.” Redefining what ‘doing it all' means. She challenges the narrative that women must choose between family and career. It's not about whether there's a cost - it's about whether you're willing to pay the price. “Every choice you make in life has a price. If you're willing to pay the price, then fantastic.” If you've ever wrestled with scale, risk, work-life balance, or carving your own version of leadership, this episode is for you. Listen in and share with someone who's building on their own terms.

On this week's episode of The 1 Girl Revolution Podcast, we welcome Kristi Wells and Brittany Dunn — national anti-trafficking advocates and the powerhouse co-founders of The Safe House Project, a nonprofit organization that's transforming the fight against human trafficking in America. Founded in 2017, The Safe House Project was born out of Kristi and Brittany's shared passion to end human trafficking and offer safety, healing, and hope to survivors. Inspired by the Underground Railroad and the legacy of safe havens, they created a national movement to build safe homes and restore freedom to survivors across the country. Today, The Safe House Project has become a national leader in the anti-trafficking space — providing over 227,000 safe nights for survivors each year, launching safe houses across the U.S., and mobilizing communities with tools, education, and action steps to end trafficking for good. Send us a textTogether, Sky Kelsey and Marty Smith serve as founding members of the traditional Irish band The Safehouse. Kelsey and Smith have been the consistent leading members of the group and have played together for many years.During the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic, however, they honed their sound as a duo for the first time. Kelsey and his then-girlfriend (now-wife) stayed with Smith for a few months, and they locked in completely on finding a sound together.Since then, they've switched between performing with a band lineup in The Safehouse and as a duo group. Both projects focus on playing traditional Irish music.Smith grew up in Wyoming while Kelsey grew up in Alaska. Neither environment is known for its vibrant Irish music scene. However, both individuals found Irish music in their communities. In particular, Kelsey embraced the music developed in southern Ireland's County Clare. In the late 1990s and early 2000s, a native County Clare band, The Ceili Bandits, brought much of the county's traditional music to Alaska. Completely captivated by Clare music, he embraced Ireland's oral tradition. He started learning fiddle from age twelve under the mentorship of James Kelly, who Kelsey cites as his biggest influence. By the time Kelsey was old enough to gig in bars, Clare music had been well established in his community, so he completely embraced the music and started learning music from across Ireland.Meanwhile, growing up with folk music, Smith has performed in countless groups even outside of The Safehouse. These groups include Avourneen, their spinoff duo Smithstein, and Coisir.Smith started by playing dance tunes from the British Isles on the hammered dulcimer, and he now primarily focuses on playing the Irish bouzouki and singing. He's been mentored by bouzouki teachers such as Andy Irvine, Aaron Jones, and Roger Landes. Send us a textI remember playing my first Call of Cthulhu game. It was at GenCon many years ago when GenCon was in Milwaukee and the Safehouse was the place to be.At the time all I knew was that Call of Cthulhu was a horror roleplaying game. The idea sounded cool and the game fit into my schedule so why not.I had a blast. It truly was a wonderful game that fundamentally changed many of my thoughts around table top roleplaying. It wasn't just swords and sorcery, there were other worlds out there to be explored. After the game I realized that Call of Cthulhu wasn't just a neat game. It was based on an entire world created by author H.P. Lovecraft. I had copies of “At the Mountains of Madness” and “The Shadow of Innsmouth” in my hands by the end of the week.I think that is where my love of games that come from Intellectual Properties or IPs came from. What's an IP you ask? Well simply put it is a creation of the mind typically found in inventions, literature, film, or any other medium that a person can apply for a patent, trademark, copyright, etc. While D&D was built on the backs of Tolkien's middle earth and Howard's Conan it wasn't specifically set in that world. Traveller leaned heavily into the old Sci-Fi serials like Flash Gordon, Buck Rogers, and Dumarest of Terra, but it was its own thing. As far as I can tell Call of Cthulhu is the first roleplaying game truly built on an IP.But it wasn't the last.Star Wars, Star Trek, Middle Earth Role Playing, Marvel Superhero's, DC Adventures and James Bond 007 all followed quickly. Today as I glance at my gaming bookshelf, I notice a trend.Games based on IP's.From Aliens to Farscape, From the One Ring to Monster Hunter International, From Blade Runner to Star Trek, from Star Wars to The Expanse and from Conan to James Bond. I love the IPs.In this week's episode Mike, Christina and I are going to talk about Intellectual Property Games. We are going to talk about why they are so successful, why people like them, and some of our favorites. But specifically, we are going to talk about the what IP isn't a game right now, but should be.Before we go down that road, Christina, what's your current favorite game based on an IP?[Kick to Christina]Mike, this question probably makes your brain melt. You can't pick Star Wars and Middle Earth Roleplaying…you gotta choose, so which one is your current favorite.

My Brightest Diamond is the project led by singer, multi-instrumentalist, songwriter and composer Shara Nova (formerly Worden), who has continued to weave her own way through pop, experimental and classical worlds. Her latest, Fight The Real Terror, strips things down to just Shara and her guitar, and is full of the raw emotion that erupted from her upon learning about Sinéad O'Connor's passing in 2023. Shara Nova plays some of these new My Brightest Diamond songs, in-studio, and wields an autoharp besides. Set list: 1. Fight the Real Terror 2. Safe House 3. Have You Ever Seen An Angel

What's with this abhorrent Pool Man character and the impressions? How hilarious is it that the so-called villain's name is pronounced like, “Michael Moore”? How many times has Patrick Stewart's character almost been sued by maids and groundskeepers for all the ‘drills' he runs around them? And why couldn't we get a little more Hector Elizondo in this movie? PLUS: John Wayne tries to order lunch at a Wendy's!
