Five players have had their options exercised – Kwame Awuah, Ronald Matarrita, Andre Rawls, Khiry Shelton and Ben Sweat. Who did not get their option exercised? RJ Allen, Frederic Brillant, Miguel Camargo, Shannon Gomez, Eirik Johansen, Mikey Lopez, Jefferson Mena, Sean Okoli, Andraz Struna, John Stertzer and Ethan White. Welcome to the NYCFC Fan Podcast. Today both Chris' join the conversation while we record via Skype because I am currently in Rome, Italy. Ciao! I left the country after the horrendous performance New York City FC had against Toronto FC in an attempt to find cheap international talent.   All jokes aside, we discuss the awful playoff match NYCFC had in its first (of many we expect) home playoff matches and many questions are still left unanswered during a successful second season for New York City. We first breakdown the lineup which, at the eyeball test, is a best 11 vs 11 match up. Could Patrick Vieira have done anything different?   We then discuss whether or not we can blame the 5-0 loss on one player or a team as whole. During post game locker room talks we learn what many players said and how they felt during and after the match. We discuss our thoughts on Eirik Johansen's performance and what we think of him moving forward. Is there a correlation between New York City FC playing poorly during big matches?   We move forward to the miscellaneous bucket where we talk about the three NYCFC players who have been called up for their respective National teams and the upcoming matches the United States Men's Nation Team has against Mexico and Costa Rica.   Next topic in our bucket is the MLS expansion draft plus the Superdraft. Who do we protect from the draft and what are our greatest needs? What do we do with Frank Lampard's contract?   Sadly towards the end of the Skype call it appears that my connection was poor and the recording suffered. Unfortunately we did not know about this during the recording or else we would have stopped and continued later when connection was better. Still 45 minutes of content is better than zero content.   Today's episode Chris P @NYCFCFan and Chris M @_ChrisFC who we all know as Perpetual Student on the NYCFC sub-reddits joins the show to discuss the historic first playoff match New York City FC had against Toronto FC. After the 2-0 loss many questions popped up in regards to Patrick Vieira's decision before and during the match. These questions all start off with Patrick's starting 11 lineup choice. We provide our input as to why Patrick started Mikey Lopez, Federico Bravo, Eirik Johansen and how all three fared. During one portion of the game David Villa is seen in mid-air kicking a Toronto FC players back. The ref did not call a foul but upon review the MLS still did not suspend Villa for that incident. Why not? Where there's smoke there fire....but did a only-players meeting really take place between New York City FC even after many players themselves said it never happened? Chris P also goes in depth about his experience at the press box section in BMO Field and the poor food options there. Leg 2 against Toronto FC is Sunday at 6:30pm. It's a big day for New York City FC as it's the first home playoff match and the first ever playoff match played in New York for an MLS team! Can NYCFC make it to the next round? How will public transportation be with the New York City Marathon taking place the same day? Another topic on our miscellaneous bucket is the #suppportyourcity movement you see all across social media. It's great promotion and a good step to creating a better relationship with political figures and the men and women who service our City. Especially when we need to find a place to build a stadium. We wrap up the show mentioning the National call ups Ronald Matarrita and Tony Taylor both have for their respective countries. Jack Harrison being protected from the expansion draft due to his graduation from Generation Adidas and the yearly honors the MLS gives away in which Villa, Frank Lampard and Harrison have been nominated.
