Our friend and very first podcast guest, Josh Saunders, Director of Golf at Lancaster Country Club in Lancaster, Pennsylvania is hosting this year's US Women's Open. It has been years in preparation, hundreds of hours of planning, including course renovations, team building and turf management. All that work has culminated in a course that is ready for a major tournament. Jack Higgins and Joel Simmons were there and were set up to record interviews with Josh and his team, and as many of the volunteers as possible. The results were enthusiastic, exciting conversations with turf managers who were up early, working late, tired, but very proud of the work they were doing. The team starts each day at 3:30 am, they work to get the course ready for play until about 6:00 am just in time for the first tee times. Then it's time for breakfast and a team meeting. Afterwards the volunteers head back to the hotel for a little down time and some sleep. At 4:00 pm they arrive back at the course for dinner and another team meeting and receive their evening assignments that last until well past dark. We asked a bunch of Josh's team members and a few volunteers and about their experience. We talked about their job assignments, the friends they made and the overall experience. Everyone shared their thoughts about how beautiful this golf course is and how ready it is to host a major golf tournament. If you ever wondered what it's like to participate in the management of a major golf tournament this podcast will answer that question.Visit EarthWorks at: https://www.earthworksturf.com Podcasts: https://www.earthworksturf.com/earthworks-podcasts/ 2 Minute Turf Talks: https://www.earthworksturf.com/2-minute-turf-talks/
Coming to you directly from the 2024 US Women's Open at the Lancaster Country Club in Lancaster Pennsylvania! What a great opportunity, and pleasure, to speak with Josh Saunders, the hosting superintendent, and his former mentor, Pete Wendt, from Congressional Country Club to talk about what it takes to get ready for a major championship tournament. We sat down a couple of hours after Josh was able to see the start of tournament on Thursday morning, which marked the culmination of over two years of hard work. Jack Higgins and Joel Simmons had a chance to hear about what it takes to pull off something of this magnitude. Josh talked about the challenges of managing a team of 120 volunteers and staff to make sure that they were ready for the week. It was clear that Josh was excited to have Pete and other fellow superintendents stop by to support him as he hosts his first major championship. A great conversation among old friends, and a real insight to the behind the scenes of the US Women's Open.Visit EarthWorks at: https://www.earthworksturf.com Podcasts: https://www.earthworksturf.com/earthworks-podcasts/ 2 Minute Turf Talks: https://www.earthworksturf.com/2-minute-turf-talks/

In this episode I'm back out at Sydney West Martial Arts chatting to Josh Saunders (@) hpucoaching an Australian Jiu Jitsu athlete who after a very brief period in the sport qualified for the olympics of submission grappling - ADCC 2022 Josh is no stranger to podcasts, however it was interesting for me to sit down with him and ask the questions that interest me and we cover a lot of ground. This is one to probably watch back a few times and take notes if you're interested in the topics we cover as these include: business, sport, coaching, performance enhancing drugs, relationships, religion and so much more. I find it somewhat hilarious that at one point in life Josh wasn't the biggest kid around so it's one of those be careful who you mess with because you don't know what will happen when you get older! That said, despite the look and the intense mindset, Josh is by no means jaded - in fact, his mindset is so focused on his goals, that it's only a matter of 'when' and not 'if' he achieves them. These are the kinds of conversations that should light a fire within you (if you're so inclined) so it's time to knuckle down on the discipline you need to chase what you're going for! Whether you believe you can or you can't, you're absolutely correct. Check out Josh's linktree: https://linktr.ee/hpucoaching Enjoy!

We talk a lot on this show about how to make money in real estate. Today we are going to talk about how to keep it. Wealth Preservation is the topic and this is a multi-pronged approach. It’s not just tax planning, investment planning or just asset protection. It’s an overall strategy to keep more of what you make. Our guests, Mark Seither and Josh Saunders say It’s much harder to re-earn a dollar than to make one in the first place. There is plenty of tax code from the 80,000+ pages that people are not using or aware of. On this call we will cover these basics in wealth preservation: Diversifying taxable income in retirement. Leveraging real estate to improve your investments. What your investment guy is not telling you about your qualified plan. We will discuss 401ks, self-directed Roths, and other retirement strategies. Plus we will mention more advanced strategies: Accelerated depreciation opportunities to offset your taxes, Roth conversion strategy, with a Roth conversion calculator. Tax efficient legacy plans. In Episode 102 of District of Conservation, Gabriella recounts her recent red drum fishing trip with Captain Joshua Saunders of Peake Tide Fishing. Josh launched his fishing charter in 2014. During season, he splits his time between Hampton, Virginia, in the Peninsula and his home base of Kilmarnock in Northern Neck. Although she hooked-up a bull red and it got away, there's still many a fish tale to tell. Josh worked very hard to help put Gabriella on the board and the fish didn't cooperate, despite having success catching them earlier in the week. But guess what? That's okay. Anglers must celebrate both the victories and missed catches. That's what fishing is all about, after all! She brought Josh on the podcast to share his story, the inspiration behind his business, what makes the fishery in the Lower Chesapeake Bay unique, working with Green Top Hunt Fish, the status of small fishing operators, how to support them despite COVID, and how to fish with him.
EarthWorks had the pleasure of talking with Josh Saunders of Lancaster Country Club a few days ago. Tune in to hear Josh discuss some of the joys and challenges of managing the golf course on this beautiful piece of property in the farm country of Pennsylvania. There is some interesting discussion about preparing for the Women's US Open along with agronomic strategies for managing different constructed root zones and holes that are prone to flooding.
Josh Saunders aka the Gothic King Cobra joins John and Warren on the TekWar Fan Network for a mini bonus episode for the non-subscriber leeches out there. Unfortunately, Kantbot could not be present for this episode. Enjoy.

Orlando City has used one goalkeeper the last two seasons in MLS play but Joe Bendik isn’t the team’s only backstopper. We’ve got Josh Saunders with us, as the Lions’ veteran backup stopped by to talk to us about a whole host of interesting topics, but my favorite was his description of what it’s like as a goalkeeper to play at Yankee Stadium. Big thanks to Josh, who was an interesting interview. We also have Orlando City-Atlanta United to break down and we’ll all be sad to see the end of Bobby Dodd Stadium’s time in MLS. It has such a storied history in our league! All kidding aside, it was a hard-fought 1-1 draw and we’re breaking it down and giving you our Man of the Match picks. We’re also talking OCB at Charleston, the Tournament of Nations and all the Orlando Pride players’ contributions, the All-Star Game, and more. Plus, #AskTMLPC, our key match-ups and score predictions for Orlando at Montreal Impact, and more. Here’s how the show unfolded: 0:12- We’re really sick of Hector Villalba, but we break down the game at Bobby Dodd Stadium anyway, plus our Man of the Match, OCB at Charleston, the USWNT, and more. 38:08- Josh Saunders joins us and tells us about playing for Jason Kreis and with Kaká, what Yankee Stadium is like from the on-field view, what he’s learned from being at Orlando City and several other topics. 53:12- #AskTMLPC and our key match-ups and predictions for Orlando’s trip to the Great White North to face the Impact, plus a look at what’s coming up. Sometimes we can be big ol’ windbags (OK, most of the time), but we really had a lot to discuss this week despite the fact that neither Orlando City nor the Orlando Pride were in action this past weekend. We talked about Orlando City B’s 1-1 draw with the Rochester Rhinos, the USMNT’s World Cup qualifying efforts, the USWNT’s European trip, Alex Morgan’s return, the U.S. Open Cup, the upcoming match vs. Montreal Impact, and a whole lot more. Joining us this week is former Orlando City and current Miami FC center back Brad Rusin, who talks about returning to the City Beautiful for a competitive match against an MLS side he helped build in its early years in the USL. Brad also talked about his journey since leaving Orlando, what the Open Cup means, how he approaches the game, and how he once poached a goal from Tyler Turner. We also answered your questions from Twitter (use #AskTMLPC and hit us up with a tweet) and looked ahead with key match-ups and predictions for Orlando City’s upcoming games. Here’s how it all went down: 0:12- With Orlando City and the Pride off this weekend, we looked back at OCB’s draw against Rochester, including the Orlando debut of Josh Saunders. Plus, USMNT World Cup qualifying and that dazzling Michael Bradley chip! 24:34- Brad Rusin jumps on and acknowledges that Orlando fans probably weren’t thrilled with his stint at Tampa Bay, but he owned up to it and had a lot to say about his new team, Miami FC. 39:14- The USWNT, Alex Morgan, Marta, the U.S. U-23 women (and Dani Weatherholt), plus U.S. Open Cup pontificating, key match-ups and predictions for the Montreal Impact match, our mailbag, and more! Got a question? Just tweet it to us @TheManeLand with the hashtag #AskTMLPC. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

90 Shades of Blue: Recapping our New York City FC in 90 seconds. In front of over 25 thousand fans New York City and FC Dallas played a not so pretty game ending at 2-2. In the 8th minute Tommy McNamara tapped in a shot to put NYC up 1-0 with a great feed by Ronald Matarrita and amazing header pass by Jack Harrison. Great Awareness and team work! Twelve minutes later, Dallas’ Maximiliano Urruti burns our defense and forces a shot into the net that Saunders could not deflect enough to tie the match at 1-1. Tied 1-1 at the half, City gave up an early goal when Michael Barrios is kept on sides AND much like McNamara’s first goal, easily taps it in. Dallas goes up 2-1. Though don’t count City out, not with fresh cut Shelton coming off the bench, when in the 78th minute Khiry slams in a beautiful header to tie the game 2-2 and all credit goes to Mr Jack Harrison who lobbed a beautiful cross into the box. End of game 2-2. Quick Points: Our fan base either likes or dislikes Mendoza. He certainly didn’t help himself when he missed a huge opportunity in the 93rd minute. Thankfully it was only to WIN the game, imagine if it was to tie. Great game by McNamara offensively. Yes I like McNamara starting over Mendoza and he nearly got another goal off corner kick during the second half. He was also the player defending Urruti on Dallas’ first goal and he was the man who kept Barrios on-sides for Dallas’ second goal. Talking about Poor game defensively…Jefferson Mena…gosh. The Colombian homer in me is fading for him. Should Hernandez start over Mena moving forward? I say no. What do you think? Hate on Josh Saunders as much as you want but this game he came through. The biggest of saves was against Tesho Akindele in the 90th minute which would of made it 3-2 for Dallas. Don’t forget to follow the podcast on Twitter @NYCFCPodcast and myself @TheAndresSoto Week Wrap up: NYC stays in 3rd place in the Eastern Division with 45 points and with a negative 1 goal differential. Toronto clinched a playoff spot with their 3-3 tie against the Red Bulls leaving them in first with 47 points and New Jersey in second with 45. Both teams have a positive 12 goal differential. Philadelphia who lost against Portland stays in 4th place and 4 points behind New York City. NYC's next game is Friday, September 23 vs. Chicago Fire who are currently in last place in the Eastern Division. Hundreds of people in cities throughout the US have been arrested for participating in Black Lives Matter protests. In Chicago, a judge set one protestor's bail at $350,000. To "make bail" he will have to present the court with the money or property as s promise, a sort of collateral, that he will return for his hearing in exchange for his freedom while he awaits trial. When he appears for his trial, he will get his money back."There really are two systems of justice. There’s one for people who can make bail, and one for people who can’t." - Josh Saunders, Public Defender Possibly this protestor and others like him will have help raising the funds to post his bail. But what if a person who has been accused of a crime has been arrested and doesn't have enough money, or access to property, to make bail? Each year some 45,000 people in New York City alone are arrested and sent to jail who can't make bail. That means they either stay in jail until their trial takes place, which can be months down the road, or they plead guilty without a trial. This summer Life of the Law presents the best and the brightest new voices in investigative reporting and audio production. This story is from Ariel Ritchin of the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism. Ariel has taken a hard look at what it takes to make bail. It is a Tuesday, which means a downpour of Filibuster drowning your ears and making everyone drive 15 mph under the speed limit. We start by talking about another rainy day, D.C. United's 1-1 draw with the Chicago Fire. We talk about our different minds regarding this game, before going in deep on the 4-1-4-1 Ben Olsen ran out. We also talk about Marcelo Sarvas and his role in any of these formations, before ending by talking about Steve Birnbaum, his inclusion on the USMNT's premliminary roster for the Copa America, and rumors about him from abroad. We then welcome on Raf Noboa y Rivera, from Hudson River Blue, to talk about New York City FC. We ask Raf if they have a nickname yet, before getting into matters on the field, including the feeling after beating the Vancouver Whitecaps. We also talk about Frank Lampard, the tactics of Patrick Viera, and, of course, Tommy McNamara. We then get into Federico Bravo and Andrea Pirlo, the state of NYCFC's defenders, and whether Josh Saunders is good enough to be a playoff goalkeeper, all before asking Raf to gameplan NYCFC for us. Give it a listen!

Hi everyone and welcome to the New York City Football Club Fan Podcast. Who am I? Well I'm your host, Andrés Emilio Soto, a real estate agent in NYC and a season ticket holder who sits in Section 205, so come say hi! This podcast is by fans and for fans. I want you to voice your opinion, give feedback, provide your thoughts about NYCFC and to have fun while doing this. To leave a message visit NYCFCPodcast.com/talk. Now on to today's show. Recap Corner Boy do I hate being right in this scenario. In front of a sold out crowd of 27,545 fans NYCFC came up a goal short in their one zero loss to Sporting Kansas City. New York City Football Club's first loss of the season now drops them down to 3rd place in the Eastern Conference, tied with Orlando City SC at 5 points. NYCFC was without forward David Villa, midfielder Sebastian Velasquez and defender Josh Williams due to injury. Furthermore forwards Khiry Shelton and Adam Nemec were unavailable due to international call ups. The lone goal came from a thrown in by Sporting KC's Captain, Matt Besler, which was targeted for the head of the rushing Ike Opara's head who struck the ball like lightning. This time around Josh Saunders was not able to make a save. From my point of view it seemed like Sporting Kansas City's strategy in the first half was to stuff NYCFC on their half of the field basically using the smaller Yankee Stadium field as a disadvantage. Every time NYCFC had the ball it appeared they could not get out of the half line mark. The Club either lobbed the ball too far, made erroneous passes or lost control of the ball. It wasn't until late in the first half that NYCFC started to find some open space and they played a much better and fluid game in the second half yet missed key shots on goal. Next up for NYCFC is an away Match against the Philadelphia Union on April 11th. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fTteLtc3Njc Analysis Corner Matt Reed appears on the show and we discuss the following: Recap/ Analysis of the game against Sporting Kansas City How our team adapted to not have key starters such as David Villa. Now on to today's show Season 1 Episode 3. Recap Corner Well as you can hear the common denominator in those last files is Josh Saunders. If anything NYCFC's 1-0-2 record is thanks to Saunders' great goal keeping. Simply put, he saved us from losing this game against Colorado. NYCFC did not look good. There were only two shots on goal against Colorado and Saunders 7 saves were a season high for him. Yet our 5 points is what matters at the end of the day. Getting a tie on a road game is much better than a loss. NYCFC was down to 10 men after defender Shay Facey made his first start and got two yellows, the second coming on the 82nd minute for a tackle on Juan Ramirez just outside of the penalty box. Next up for NYCFC they face off against 2013 MLS Champions Sporting Kansas City. Fan Message Corner I am so excited to have Matt Reed join us on the podcast. Hi everyone and welcome to Season 1 Episode 1 of the New York City Football Club Fan Podcast. I'm super excited that you are listening and we are just going to start it off. Recap Corner We just finished playing against Orlando SC in the MLS debut for both teams. We played against Orlando and it was a bit of a slow game to start, especially NYCFC. They did look rusty and did not look good in the first 20 minutes. Little by little they added some momentum though they did end in a zero-zero draw at half. Into the second half we got a great goal from Mix Diskerud. Mix score a nice little curving low shot to the right corner past the Orlando City goalie Donnovan Ricketts to give NYCFC advantage. And of course, to end things on a sour note for NYCFC, Orlando needed to score in extra time to tie. And that was a goal shot from about the 18 yard box by Kaka off a free kick which bounced off a NYCFC defender and made the ball go to the opposite direction in which NYCFC's goalie, Josh Saunders was diving to.
