This week's My Old Man Said podcast opens with the Lovers Walk Unlimited Orchestra summing up the Villa week in song, before the show dives straight into the fallout from a chaotic few days. From David's Dublin airport delay courtesy of Zelensky, to a Brighton game that veered from disaster to delirium, it has been peak Villa in every imaginable way.The show pulls apart the Brighton match first. Emery's rage in the dugout. A tactical plan that looked too respectful. A comeback powered by firepower off the bench. Questions about the squad answered by Onana bullying back posts, Watkins waking up again and Marlon emerging as a genuine asset. Emery's long-range revolution gets dissected too. The pundits are baffled, the xG merchants are twitching, but Villa are simply doing what good teams do. Take the right shot when it is on.From there the episode moves into the Arsenal preview. A match that could tilt the entire narrative of the season. Beat Arsenal and suddenly the door creaks open to something bigger. As MOMS say, the T-word is banned until further notice, but the implications are impossible to ignore. There is also Villa News: Barkley's injury setback, Martinez disappearing again in the warm-up, Young Boys away-end arrests, merch-line overload and the progress of the North Stand redevelopment. Emery's Clipboard returns with a forensic look at Martinez's numbers, Bizot's impact, and how fine margins in goalkeeping shape the entire season. The Villa Engine gets a nod with the under-18s hammering Fulham. Then there is the bigger picture. The Football Supporters' Association “Stop Exploiting Loyalty” campaign gains parliamentary backing. BBC research highlights the rise of abusive posts aimed at managers. And Juan Sebastián Verón gets banned for refusing a guard of honour in Argentina. It is a sprawling, funny, chaotic and insight-packed episode that captures Villa's strange reality this season. Emery's side are grinding, exploding, wobbling and rising again, often in the space of a single match. And as the show suggests, if Villa beat Arsenal, things might get very interesting indeed.A proper bumper edition. Listen. Strap in. And avoid airports whenever world leaders land.UTVGET AD-FREE SHOWS and JOIN MATCH CLUBGet ad-free shows and extra shows, and join My Old Man Said's 24/7 Villa community, Match Club. For more details and to become a member, click here: Become a MOMS MemberJoin the show's listener facebook group The Mad Few.Credits:David Michael - @myoldmansaid Chris Budd - @BUDD_musicPhillip Shaw - @prsgameMy Old Man Said - https://www.myoldmansaid.comThis Podcast has been created and uploaded by My Old Man Said. We are back and better than ever after a little thanksgiving R&R. It is with great pleasure to introduce Outdoor Colorado, a non-profit, which has an emphasis on youth outdoors. This was a long time dream of Frank Villa Sr., as well as the both Josh and Frank Jr. and their family. Outdoor Colorado has a concentration in bringing the outdoors, including both hunting and fishing, to the youth of their community, the state and the nation. Frank Villa Sr. spent his life expressing the importance of being an ambassador to the great outdoors. Frank Villa Sr. also taught how important it is to share our experiences as outdoorsman, anglers, and hunters with not only our own kids but to all youth. The mission at Outdoor Colorado is to share those experiences by taking the youth into the outdoors and teaching them about conservation, morals, ethics and the responsibilities of being a good sportsman in our world today.
Phil Foden is proving a popular purchase for FPL managers after his consecutive double-digit returns
Suj and James discuss the games and fallout from a dramatic Gameweek 14 so far as Manchester City won 5-4 away, Villa (found improvement) to win 4-3 at Brighton, Arsenal won again but it was a bad night for Chelsea at Elland Road and Liverpool were again underwhelming as they drew with Sunferland. The City victory saw Erling Haaland walk away with three attacking returns but the headlines for Fantasy owners were more about the returns for Phil Foden who now has more FPL points in his past two than the previous 12 weeks. Should non owners steam in? Before buying the prospect of further rotation for assets should be considered in a week where predictably many players were given a rest, but perhaps it was more than just a rest for Mo Salah as he was benched again. The good news is the midweek rotation can be turned into an advantage in many scenarios in a week where everyone should be making at least one transfer ahead of receiving five free transfers in GW16. All the games covered, James has an enabling transfer on mind and even managed to come away from St James's Park with a dramatic late draw. After a goal packed set of midweek fixtures what has changed? Chelsea's title credentials were checked as a buoyant Leeds put three past them at Elland Road. Man City won but looked anything but assured. Villa are now only six points off top spot and play Arsenal at the weekend. And as for Arsenal - no change there, while others toil they won again.Elsewhere is Cristian Romero a defender or a striker and how good is Erling Haaland?Arne Slot and Liverpool continued to labour. Tony sees worrying signs as Salah, Van Dijk and Isak all struggle. But Sunderland continued to demonstrate what a well coached, well drilled side they are, taking points of Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool already this season. Patrick and Neel open with Barcelona's win over Atletico Madrid and dig into why Atleti started well, why they collapsed after scoring, and how Raphinha and Pedri change Barça's ceiling. They also break down what Simeone's team is missing and whether they can stay competitive with Spain's top two. Then it's onto the Premier League, starting with Sunderland's brave performance at Anfield and why their approach is working in a season full of chaos. Leeds' shift in structure, Daniel Farke's reputation, and their big win over Chelsea come next, followed by a deeper look at Manchester City's issues out of possession and why their current squad build leaves them stuck between pressing and blocking deep. The episode closes in Scotland with Celtic's appointment of Wilfried Nancy. Patrick and Neel walk through his coaching journey, his style of play, and what it might take to implement his system quickly in a tight title race. This week on That Peter Crouch Podcast, the lads are joined by musician, Liverpool fan and long-time friend of the pod Miles Kane for an episode full of nostalgia, chaos and unbelievable storytelling. From the early days knocking about in Belsize Park to creating his brand-new album Sunlight in the Shadows with Dan Auerbach of the Black Keys, Miles lifts the lid on the madness, the music and the moments that shaped him.We get into FIFA soundtracks, Sky Sports montages and why football and music share the same obsessive mindset. Miles also tells the incredible story of how his childhood hero Roberto Baggio inspired one of his most emotional tracks — and how that song led him all the way to Baggio's house in Italy for one of the most surreal lunches of his life. There's backstage mayhem with Arctic Monkeys, broken ribs in five-a-side, fashion eras gone wrong, and a whole lot of love for the city of Liverpool. Aston Villa's derby win over Wolves was a tale of two halves. The first was everything you expect in this fixture. Wolves flying into tackles, Larsen bullying the back line, and Villa drifting through the opening forty minutes with an air of casualness. The turning point arrived when Emi Martinez produced a double save to keep the game level and stop Wolves gaining a foothold. The second half belonged to Villa. Kamara's top-corner screamer lit the place up, exactly the moment of quality the afternoon had been begging for. From there Villa pressed higher, forced Wolves deeper and finally imposed their rhythm. Ollie Watkins and Donyell Marlen gave the front line purpose, the midfield tightened up and the atmosphere switched from frustrated to defiant. In this episode the podcast digs into why Villa started so slowly, how Martinez's intervention changed everything, Marlen's tough afternoon leading the line, Watkins' impact from the bench and the tactical tweaks Emery made to drag the game back. There is also talk of the VAR stamp incident, Villa's remarkable home form and the growing pattern of grinding out league wins straight after European nights. It was not pretty but it was the kind of win top four sides collect without apology. Leeds and Wolves beaten back to back. Six points banked. Emery satisfied. And Villa waking up at the right moments with the season about to hit full throttle.UTVGET AD-FREE SHOWS and JOIN MATCH CLUBGet ad-free shows and extra shows, and join My Old Man Said's 24/7 Villa community, Match Club. Suj and James discuss another eventful weekend in the Premier League, where there was largely success for Free Hitters (including Suj) but disappointment for Erling Haaland Triple Captainers, and James' Wildcard also went okay. But what's perhaps more important is what's next and a big theme around Suj and James' discussion is who might get rotated during a midweek where the spacing of games is particularly bad for Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool. The two London sides drew in Sunday's big game whilst Liverpool finally won and kept a clean sheet with Alexadner Isak on the scoresheet, but Mo Salah was an unused substitute. A rest presumably...? There's reflection on the Villa, Brentford and Manchester City assets that largely delivered well for Free Hitters, Newcastle won away with Malick Thiaw - 3rd on James' bench - scoring twice, and Newcastle assets now greatly appeal, as might Manchester United assets after their victory at Crystal Palace. But it was another miserable home day for James' Tottenham. Arsenal leave Stamford Bridge with just one Premier League point after a chaotic afternoon defined by early bookings, a makeshift back line, and a referee who lost control long before Caicedo finally saw red. We break down the six cautions, the way Zubimendi's early yellow changed our midfield, the impact of Odegaard's introduction, and Merino's equaliser that shifted the momentum — plus the late chance for Gyökeres and Timber that could have won it.Despite the frustration, it still caps off a huge week for Arsenal: the derby win, the Bayern performance, and now a hard-earned point with Saliba, Gabriel and Trossard unavailable. In Part Two, we roll through a midweek Who Am I?, a full WATG recap, VARse (including the Alvarez penalty rule?), and a look ahead to Wednesday night's match against Brentford — a must-win before the trip to Villa Park.Settle in for a grounded, honest review of a fiery London afternoon and what it means for the week ahead.Chapters:(00:00) – Arteta's Non-Negotiables Intro(00:58) – Battle at the Bridge: Setting the Scene(01:49) – Lineup Changes & Saliba's Late Withdrawal(03:11) – Chelsea's Fast Start and Cucurella's Free Hits(04:48) – Six Arsenal Bookings and a Referee Out of Control(07:10) – Caicedo's Red Card and the Play-Acting Debate(08:59) – Chelsea's Tactics: Diving, Disruption, and Referee's Impact(11:58) – Arsenal's First-Half Chances & Sanchez's Spills(13:01) – Conceding Early in the Second Half(14:58) – Subs: Odegaard's Impact & Madueke's Struggles / Left-Side Chemistry Issue(19:00) – Merino's Equaliser: Saka's Brilliance & Odegaard's Spark(20:30) – Arteta's Sub Decisions: What Worked & What Didn't(23:20) – Final Chances: Gyökeres Collides with Sanchez & Timber's Header(24:22) – Was This Still a Good Week for Arsenal?(27:48) – By the Numbers & Big-Picture Reflection on the Chelsea Draw(29:08) – PT.2 Who Am I? Escuchar audio
Aston Villa return from a Europa League win against Young Boys with plenty to argue about. The xG police have spent the week sounding alarms, but MOMS explains why the conversation around underperformance is nonsense. Villa are evolving, not chancing their luck. Emery has shifted his side toward controlled mid-range and long-range shooting patterns, and the data heads have not caught up yet.The episode also looks back at the Young Boys win and the question the habit of Villa looking a little foggy after European nights. With two-point Wolves up next, it is exactly the fixture that can trip a team that has not fully reset. There is talk of a lack of sharpness, with Ollie Watkins needing a spark and the reality of winter football when injuries and workload begin to stack.Along the way the show looks at Premier League's new Squad Cost Ratio idea, the odd decisions coming out of Sky's TikTok department and Ronaldo's mystery discount ban. It is the new format of the show, built around more stories, more football insight and more of the MOMS irreverence that cuts through the noise.UTVGET AD-FREE SHOWS and JOIN MATCH CLUBGet ad-free shows and extra shows, and join My Old Man Said's 24/7 Villa community, Match Club.
