In this episode of Dummy, Thomas talks about the process for making contact and building relationships with players who have the option to represent multiple countries, which is something he did during the past year but also as head coach of the US U-20 team from 2006 to 2011. He has helped find and recruit players like John Brooks, Bobby Wood, Julian Green, Mix Diskerud, Terrence Boyd, Jerome Kiesewetter, and others—and his thoughts on why Bobby Wood is still a big part of the national team while Julian Green’s career has stalled are especially interesting. After our discussion about gift giving during the holidays, the evolution of Christmas light decorations and announcing that Chris M is now officially a member of NYCFC Nation we actually go through a ton of topics all related to New York City FC. We start with the MLS Draft and the fact that not one player was selected from NYC's list of unprotected players. We discuss Mix Diskerud's no trade clause and review the two new players that have recently joined NYCFC in Sean Okoli and Sean Everet Johnson. With the acquisition of Sean Johnson that gives New York City a roster of 4 goal keepers. Who is going to start the first match and who is going to be traded? The MLS came out with a list of available free agent players. Should anyone on this list be targeted by NYC? What's going on with Ronald Matarrita's contract and the interest he's receiving from other Clubs? Rumors are out that NYCFC is eyeing Danish midfielder Jeppe Andersen. Plus a lot more, enjoy. Don't forget to give us a 5 star rating and review to help other New York City FC fans find the podcast. Leave a rating and review on iTunes!

We are back with another episode and because of technical issues last week, while I was recording from Italy, we (@NYCFCFan and @_ChrisFC) go over that lost content. Also, although it's the off season we have a lot of news and updates to discuss. Frank Lampard announces that he leaves New York City FC clearing up a designated spot.. He certainly contributed in his second season with the team scoring X amount of goals. Next Andoni Iraola also announces his retirement just a few days after and although he did not fill the stat sheet his presence controlling the center defense and his personality off the field will truly be missed. Andoni Iraola has announced his retirement. Ending his 16 year playing career. pic.twitter.com/C1BR2ECw4v — NYCFC Nation (@NYCFCNation) November 17, 2016 Suddenly with these two players leaving the team and not knowing anything about Mix Diskerud it does leave a large question in the midfield. NYC also has 3 loans players on the team. Are all staying and who should we keep? Who will be replacing them next season and who will be our 3rd DP? We go through a list of players that could be realistic additions to the team and also look within City Football Group (CFG) to see if there are any players Manchester City could send over as a designated player. Patrick Vieira is spending his off season with Manchester City and CFG. Other than Vieira meeting with Pep Guardiola to learn more about the training and philosophy CFG is building could he be also looking at their Elite Development Squad (EDS)? Could we possibly take some youth players from there as a loan or purchase for next season? Patrick Vieira met with Pep Guardiola and some of his former academy players today in Manchester. [

Who says this is the slowest sports week of the year? Certainly not MLS fans who saw a bonkers Wednesday night of eye-catching results keep the week rolling. It was headlined by first-place FC Dallas suffering a 5-0 whooping in Seattle that included a lineup gambit from Oscar Pareja, another Jordan Morris goal and a Clint Dempsey red card that will see him suspended for Sunday’s match against the rival Timbers. Oh, and Nacho Piatti scored (when he shouldn’t have been on the field), Connor Lade put up a golazo for his first MLS strike and the Fire’s Dutch import opened his account under two rainbows against a frustrated Sporting KC. The past is over, but the future is yet to come. This weekend promises to be another banger, as MLS takes over Sunday with #PORvSEA (3 pm ET, FOX), #MTLvNYC (5 pm ET, ESPN) and #PHIvNY (7 pm ET, FS1). Back to back home losses for Vancouver Whitecaps now as the MLS season gets down to the wire. It was a tale of two penalties at BC Place on Saturday night, both horrible awards, and some woeful finishing from the 'Caps as they slumped to a 2-1 defeat to New York City FC. We pick over the bones of the defeat with the help of Harjeet Johal. What was with the officiating? What was with the finishing? What's with the inability to get some breathing space at the top of the table? Did any Whitecaps players stand out or did they all just freeze in front of their big name opponents? We look at these talking points and more. We also hear from the victorious NYC locker room and get the thoughts of head coach Jason Kreis, goalscorer Frank Lampard and US international Mix Diskerud. We'll also chat about fawning over the names in town, the decision to keep the capacity at 21,000 and disrespecting the Supporters' Shield. And there's still time to bring back an old segment to lighten the mood, as we look at some of the more offbeat stories in the world of soccer this past week. Have a listen!

A Tuesday Filibuster for your listening pleasure! Adam, Jason, and Ben talk about D.C. United's historic 1-0 win over the Montreal Impact, and we have to start with Bill Hamid. We then ask whether or not we were happy with this game, despite the win, ask if anything changed when Conor Doyle came on the field for Nick DeLeon, and discuss what should be the forward pairing against New York City FC given what happened against Montreal. We then welcome on Rafael Noboa y Rivera from SB Nation's NYCFC site Hudson River Blue. We start by asking him about Tommy McNamara, who was cruelly stolen from D.C. United in the expansion draft. We ask him who has been the best player in light blue so far this year, the team's deficienies, how bad Mix Diskerud has been this year, and how Frank Lampard is the team's original sin. We close by asking him about the leaky back four. Give it a listen!

Hi everyone and welcome to Season 1 Episode 1 of the New York City Football Club Fan Podcast. I'm super excited that you are listening and we are just going to start it off. Recap Corner We just finished playing against Orlando SC in the MLS debut for both teams. We played against Orlando and it was a bit of a slow game to start, especially NYCFC. They did look rusty and did not look good in the first 20 minutes. Little by little they added some momentum though they did end in a zero-zero draw at half. Into the second half we got a great goal from Mix Diskerud. Mix score a nice little curving low shot to the right corner past the Orlando City goalie Donnovan Ricketts to give NYCFC advantage. And of course, to end things on a sour note for NYCFC, Orlando needed to score in extra time to tie. And that was a goal shot from about the 18 yard box by Kaka off a free kick which bounced off a NYCFC defender and made the ball go to the opposite direction in which NYCFC's goalie, Josh Saunders was diving to. Fan Message Corner Well not many fans know about this podcast but this corner will have all the voicemails you leave at nycfcpodcast.com Predictions Corner I predict NYCFC will win 1 - 0 against New England Revolution Podcast Links http://www.nycfc.com/post/2015/03/08/new-york-city-fc-draw-orlando-city-sc-mls-debut http://www.nycfc.com/post/2015/03/09/new-york-city-fc-surpass-15000-season-tickets-season-open-400-level-yankee-stadium http://www.nycfc.com/post/2015/03/10/josh-saunders-nominated-mls-save-week http://www.mlssoccer.com/news/article/2015/03/12/injury-plagued-new-england-revolution-expect-depth-show-through-until-stars- http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/soccer/nycfc-yanks-common-home-field-article-1.2147732 http://nypost.com/2015/03/13/taylor-twellman-thinks-nycfcs-home-field-could-be-a-problem/     Subscribe to the NYCFC Fan Podcast via iTunes or Stitcher   If you enjoyed this episode could you share it with the rest of the world by leaving an honest rating and review on iTunes? There was ecstasy (and some pain) across the US and Canada this weekend. Why? Because MLS is back. So whether you’re feeling up or down about your club's 2015 fate after a jam-packed slate of games, Andrew, Simon, and David are ready to break it all down. The guys start off with the historic expansion derby in front of 62,000 fans in Orlando, and president and part owner Phil Rawlins (interview starts at 8:01 mark) stops by to discuss his emotions from Sunday, and the club's plans for major crowds. Of course, we have discuss the return of Seattle’s two-headed monster as well as Matt Besler’s best Aurelin Collin impersonation. Plus, questions arise about the career path of budding American star Jose Villarreal, and Simon makes a bold claim about the on-field production of Mix Diskerud’s hair this season. And obviously there's a discussion to be had about Toronto FC following their impressive opening day victory in Vancouver. In the mailbag, the debate heats up about whether fans can feel good about selecting rival players for their fantasy teams. Do you want to be loyal, or a winner? One listener also wants to know who the “evil empire” of MLS is (vote in the poll to the right), and the guys give their take on which coaches are under the microscope this season.

It was a day of new beginnings in Philadelphia on Thursday as the MLS SuperDraft made its yearly splash. Andrew, Simon and David were on the ground to give you the complete wrap from the draft, with exclusive audio from proceedings that saw Canuck U-20 Cyle Larin taken first overall, Cristian Roldan fall down the board and Marcelo Sarvas traded. Of course, in Toronto, big news was going down with Jozy Altidore and Jermain Defoe. It wasn't pegged as a bloody big deal, rather a shrewd move to replace one unhappy striker with a younger, North American one. But should US fans be unhappy the Yanks biggest stars are landing in the #WeTheNorth? The guys talk that and Sasha Kljestan, who appears headed for LA.
