In questa puntata torniamo su questo protagonista del jazz d'avanguardia newyorkese degli anni ottanta e novanta (lo ricordiamo fra l'altro tastierista in Naked City di John Zorn) con due album usciti di recente. Horvitz si è nel frattempo trasferito a Seattle, e Those Who Remain (etichetta National Sawdust Tracks) è un lavoro che era stato commissionato e presentato dalla Seattle Symphony nell'ottobre 2015, con Bill Frisell come solista alla chitarra elettrica, e poi registrato nel 2016: un lavoro che è valso a Horvitz il primo premio dell'American Prize in Composition per orchestra. The Snowghost Sessions (etichetta Songlines) è stato invece registrato nel 2015 in trio ed è cointestato a Horvitz e ai suoi due partner, il contrabbassista Geoff Harper e il batterista e percussionista Eric Eagle: è l'occasione di ascoltare Horvitz come strumentista, di grande sensibilità e finezza al piano acustico, oltre che al piano elettrico, all'hammond, eccetera.
