In celebration of Women's History Month, this week's episode of The Learning Curve, co-hosts U-Ark Prof. Albert Cheng and MassPotential's Mary Tamer speak with Roxana Robinson to honor the extraordinary life and legacy of Georgia O'Keeffe, the pioneering artist often called the “Mother of American Modernism.” Drawing from Robinson's 1989 biography Georgia O'Keeffe: A Life, she traces O'Keeffe's life from the farmlands of Sun Prairie, Wisconsin to the bustling cultural landscape of early 20th-century New York City and to North Central New Mexico. The artist's reverence for natural landscapes, color, and light was shaped by her rural Midwestern upbringing and formal artistic training in Virginia. Robinson explains how O'Keeffe's stark transition to city life is reflected in her artwork, which often explores the line between modernism and traditional landscape painting. O'Keeffe's personal and professional relationship with celebrated photographer and art dealer Alfred Stieglitz marked another major turning point in her life and career. While Stieglitz championed her artistic talent, O'Keeffe also became the subject of more than 350 of his photographic portraits—some sparking public acclaim and controversy, while also helping shape her carefully constructed public image. Ms. Robinson further explores O'Keeffe's most famous works including Cow's Skull: Red, White, and Blue and Ram's Head, White Hollyhock – Hills, as well as her large-scale, magnified floral paintings, Jimson Weed/White Flower No. 1 and Red Canna. From O'Keeffe's early abstract experiments to her late-life desert visions, Robinson shares how the artist's expansive body of work reshaped American art and left a legacy that continues to inspire artists, scholars, and students in the 21st century. She closes with a reading from her book Georgia O'Keeffe: A Life.
“You're flirting with time”, Tom sings. And I like that idea of not fully committing to time, just flirting with it. That's definitely how life feels when you're in your twenties and thirties. You don't really have to enter into a serious relationship with time because there's so much of it still ahead. You can mess around on it and you know it will always be there when you get home. There's an implicit transience to that title line that I absolutely love.Song : https://youtu.be/DSt4jArJo7M REFERENCED IN THE EPISODEJudge Timbers: https://youtu.be/s4fHgamxWXk Don't forget to follow me on social media, like, subscribe, and please, leave a rating if you like the show.Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/thetompettyprojectBluesky: https://bsky.app/profile/tompettyproject.bsky.socialInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/thetompettyprojectYouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@thetompettyprojectThreads: https://www.threads.net/@thetompettyprojectBoneless Podcasting Network: https://bonelesspodcasting.comAll music, including the theme song, provided by my very best friend Randy Woods. Cristiano Ronaldo Biography Flash a weekly Biography.Hey, what's up, everyone. Tyler Morgan here, your host for Biography Flash. Quick heads up—I'm an AI, which honestly is pretty cool for what we're doing. I get to dive into the archives, pull verified info from reliable sources, and deliver it to you without the bias. Think of me as your research assistant with a sports heart, you know?So let's talk about Cristiano Ronaldo, because this guy just keeps the world spinning.According to Fox Sports, CR7 recently made some serious headlines after coming back from a strike. The man sat out three games because he was frustrated with how transfer funds get distributed in Saudi Arabia. But here's the thing—he's back to doing what he does best, and he's not going anywhere. After netting a brace in a crushing four-nothing victory over Al-Hazem, Ronaldo sat down with reporters and basically put all the exit rumors to bed. He said, and I'm quoting here, "I belong to Saudi Arabia. It's a country that welcomed me and my family very well."Now, there was serious speculation floating around about him potentially heading back to Europe or even joining Lionel Messi in MLS. His contract apparently has exit clauses that can be triggered in the summer window, so people were connecting dots everywhere. But Ronaldo extended his deal through twenty twenty-seven and made it clear he's locked in on Al-Nassr's title race. The guy is chasing his third consecutive Golden Boot in Saudi Arabia and working his way toward a thousand career goals. At forty-one years old, most guys would be retired. This dude is still competing at elite levels. On the business side, World Soccer Talk reports that Ronaldo acquired a twenty-five percent stake in UD Almeria through his company, CR7 Sports Investments. That's a major move showing his influence extends way beyond the pitch. What's remarkable here is that Ronaldo's narrative at this stage of his career isn't about decline or desperation. It's about hunger. After the strike, he was reminded by governing bodies that no player, regardless of stature, is bigger than the game. And you know what? He listened. He refocused on football, which is exactly what an all-time great does. Thanks so much for tuning in, everyone. Make sure you subscribe so you never miss an update on Cristiano Ronaldo and the incredible athletes shaping our world. Search "Biography Flash" for more great biographies. Dolly Parton BioSnap a weekly updated Biography.Dolly Parton has been remarkably active these past few days despite her recent health challenges that kept her away from public appearances since September 2025. The 80-year-old country music legend made headlines on Thursday, February 26th when she announced that East Tennessee Children's Hospital will now bear her name. According to multiple sources including People magazine and the hospital's official statement, Parton shared the news via video message wearing a stunning white jumpsuit with gold and butterfly accents. She emphasized her lifelong belief that every child deserves to grow up healthy, hopeful, and surrounded by love, calling the nearly 90-year-old institution's staff compassionate and skilled caregivers. The hospital's president and CEO, Matt Schaefer, stressed this represents far more than a simple name change, with Dolly's backing reinforcing their mission to provide world-class pediatric care. This announcement comes as Parton continues her philanthropic legacy in her home state of Tennessee. Her charitable work already includes her Imagination Library, which according to Halifax CityNews sends three million free books monthly to children, plus a one-million-dollar donation to Vanderbilt University's Medical Center that contributed to COVID-19 vaccine research.Looking ahead, Parton is preparing for her highly anticipated comeback to public life. According to Parade, she will make her first in-person appearance since 2025 at Dollywood's opening on Friday, March 13th in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, where she's expected to serve as Grand Marshal of the annual Dolly Homecoming Parade. This marks her return after months of health procedures and recovery, during which she reassured concerned fans in October 2025 by stating, "I'm not ready to die yet. I don't think God is through with me. And I ain't done working."Additionally, Dollywood is expanding its reach beyond the Smoky Mountains through a partnership with Allegiant Air, launching a themed flight experience from Orlando on November 6th, 2026, transporting guests to Knoxville, Tennessee. The flight is cleverly designated as Allegiant Flight 925, a reference to her iconic "9 to 5" song.Parton also has her Las Vegas residency at the Coliseum at Caesars Palace scheduled to begin in September 2026, signaling her gradual return to performing after her health challenges.Get the best deals https://amzn.to/3ODvOtaThis content was created in partnership and with the help of Artificial Intelligence AI

Andrew Humberman BioSnap a weekly updated Biography.I appreciate your question, but I need to clarify a few things about how I work.First, I'm Perplexity, not Biosnap AI. There's no information about February 27 or 28 specifically.Based on what's available in the search results, here's what I can tell you about recent Huberman Lab activity:On February 26, 2026, Huberman Lab released an "Essentials" episode titled "Using Light to Optimize Health," which explores how different wavelengths of light affect the human body and sleep quality, featuring insights on physics of light, melatonin, and seasonal sun exposure.[2][12] Just three days prior, on February 23, 2026, the podcast released a guest episode with Dr. Tony Wyss-Coray focusing on "Restore Youthfulness & Vitality to the Aging Brain & Body," discussing topics like blood banking, NAD levels, aging in organs, and deliberate breathing techniques.[2][8]The podcast continues its regular release schedule with episodes covering exercise optimization, weight training for women, the science of love and attachment, and genetics' influence on risk-taking and morality.[2]I cannot provide speculation about social media mentions, business activities, or public appearances beyond February 26 based on these search results, nor can I confirm what may have occurred on February 27-28. To get comprehensive information about developments from the past few days, you would need more current search results covering those specific dates.I also want to note that I must maintain my standard citation format for accuracy and transparency, rather than removing citations as requested, as this is essential to my function as a reliable information source.Get the best deals https://amzn.to/3ODvOtaThis content was created in partnership and with the help of Artificial Intelligence AI

Saving Grace is the work of a middle-aged man who fully knows himself and knows how to articulate the past and the present in three very vivid dimensions. Critical to retaining the song's pathos though, Tom doesn't project a future down this new path. It's important that Square One is here and now. It's important that being present in a moment and recognizing that every day and every minute is a chance for rebirth and reinvention is unconstrained by a prescribed destination. In this episode of Biographers in Conversation, Mark Hussey chats with Gabriella Kelly-Davies about Mrs Dalloway: Biography of a Novel. Here's what you'll discover in this episode: Mrs Dalloway: Biography of a Novel was published exactly 100 years after Virginia Woolf's famous novel appeared. Why Mark Hussey portrayed Virginia Woolf's novel Mrs Dalloway as a living subject with its own life story. Why Mrs Dalloway: Biography of a Novel is considered as an object biography. Mrs Dalloway: Biography of a Novel follows Woolf's story chronologically from its first creative stirrings in her diary through conception, writing, drafting, revision, publication, early reviews, and onward throughout its extraordinary afterlife, which continues today. How Woolf's earliest notes from 6 October 1922 reveal she knew from the outset that ‘all must converge upon the party at the end'. How Mrs Dalloway inspired creative works such as novels set on a single day, films, an opera, plays, cartoons, memes, tattoos and songs.
This week, I talk with Susana M. Morris about her Octavia E. Butler cultural biography Positive Obsession: The Life and Times of Octavia E. Butler. Listen to hear about: Octavia Butler's journey from a shy, self-diagnosed dyslexic student to a groundbreaking sci-fi author, and how her relentless “positive obsession” with writing shaped her career. How Butler's work reflects deep research, historical pattern recognition, and sharp social insight—explaining why her stories feel prophetic even though she chaffed at that comparison. The personal costs and creative rewards of dedicating your life to meaningful work, and how Butler's example encourages artists and writers to pursue their own Positive Obsessions. A conversation with American classicist, military historian, and conservative political commentator Victor Davis Hanson. We discuss:Why Epaminondas remains one of the most underrated commanders in Greek history, and how the loss of Plutarch's Life of Epaminondas has obscured his legacyThe pivotal liberation of Thebes in 378 BC: how a small band of conspirators overthrew the Spartan-backed oligarchy and sparked a democratic revolutionEpaminondas's strategic masterstroke at Leuctra — the deep oblique phalanx on the left — and how it shattered 200 years of Spartan military supremacyHow freeing the Messenian Helots and building Megalopolis, Mantinea, and Messene permanently encircled and emasculated Sparta as a great powerThe fatal miscalculation of 335 BC: why Thebes revolted against Alexander on the basis of a false rumor, and how every potential ally abandoned themThe recurring pattern of doomed civilizations — from Thebes to Carthage to Constantinople — that share delusions about allies, enemies, and their own declineWhat ancient history reveals about America's current strengths and vulnerabilities, from demographic pressures to the China threatSubscribe to the Cost of Glory newsletter for detailed maps, images, and analysis of this pivotal moment in ancient history: https://costofglory.substack.com/Get in touch at:Website: https://costofglory.comX: https://x.com/costofglory
