Like so many who serve, Falklands veteran Geoff Stear took trauma away with him - in his case a very particular reaction to the smell of meat. It was so powerful and debilitating that it made his life almost impossible, leading him to injure himself and endanger others as he tried to get away from the perceived danger. On several occasions it left him hospitalised – once with a broken neck - with no recollection of how he had got there. His life hit rock-bottom, until a chance meeting with a stranger changed everything. In this heartwarming episode, Geoff introduces Dr Sian Williams to his unlikely saviour Charlie, whose capacity to intervene when danger threatens has given Geoff back his freedom and sense of worth.Producer: Tom Alban

On this episode of “Geoff Schwartz is Smarter Than You,” Geoff and Gabe break down the wild week in the NFL, starting with the Chiefs' surprising loss to the Broncos. Is this just a slump or a real decline for Mahomes and Andy Reid's crew? Geoff explains why coaching stubbornness and missed moments are costing Kansas City big games — and could even cost them the playoffs. They also dive into how the Eagles keep stacking wins despite ugly play, and why dominating the trenches still gives Philly the edge. Then it's all about the Rams resurgence — is Matthew Stafford quietly putting together an MVP-caliber season? Plus, they touch on Caleb Williams vs. Bo Nix, backup QB chaos in Cleveland, and how draft development (not combine hype) separates contenders from pretenders. Learn more about your ad choices. My guest this week is Nicole Donnison - Social Procurement & Inclusion Manager at ICON Construction, a purpose‑led construction company building not only outstanding spaces but also stronger, more inclusive communities. Nicole is deeply committed to redefining what leadership in construction looks like - where commercial success and social value go hand in hand, and where every project becomes an opportunity to create lasting impact. In this conversation, we explore Nicole's journey as a purpose‑driven leader, how she's challenging industry norms, and the innovative ways ICON is integrating social procurement, inclusion, and sustainability into its core operations. This episode, recorded live amidst the energy of Convene 2025, Social Traders' annual conference - is part of our Short Takes on Purpose series, created in collaboration with Social Traders, where each fortnight we spotlight bold ideas and practical insights from leaders driving impact through business. Listen in to hear how ICON Construction is paving the way for a more responsible and inclusive construction industry, and Nicole's reflections on leadership, impact, and building a legacy that lasts well beyond the projects themselves.

Second, we discuss the challenges of doing business with the military, particularly in the technology space where innovation is rapid and constant.Geoff Wylde leads ŌURA's Human Performance team, delivering technology solutions that help tactical and critical workforce communities optimize physical and mental readiness. Beginning with an illness‑monitoring initiative for the U.S. Air Force, his team has expanded Oura's programs for first responders, active‑duty military, and veterans to include athletic performance, fatigue risk management, chronic stress management, and holistic health and well‑being. Before ŌURA, Geoff led programs on technology policy and industrial strategy at the World Economic Forum and spent a decade in strategy consulting at PricewaterhouseCoopers.Outside of work, Geoff volunteers and serves on the board of Healing Waters, a nonprofit that brings chronically ill and at‑risk communities into nature through camping and whitewater rafting in Northern California. Here's a peer reviewed validation study that compares the sleep/HRV accuracy of Garmin Fenix 6, Oura Generation 3, Oura Generation 4, Polar Grit X Pro, and Whoop 4.0.
Strap into your tighty-whiteys folks, because this week we take on Something's Gotta Give, a movie that opens with Crazy Town's “Butterfly” and only gets more bewildering from there. Nick, Elise, and Anthony wade through a Hamptons fantasy land where everyone is wealthy beyond reason, morals take the day off, and Jack Nicholson wanders around in tighty-whiteys giving new meaning to his SAG card. We did not plan to hit this one, but Diane Keaton's passing continues our accidental tradition of rearranging the watchlist every time Hollywood breaks our hearts. Once the shock wears off, the real questions start piling up. Why is half the cast named “Beauty,” and why does the movie treat CPR like a party trick? How is Keanu Reeves the only person behaving like he belongs in a functioning society? And at what point did Nancy Myers decide that age gaps large enough to trigger a carbon dating session should be adorable? Step aside Geoff and make room for Fair Weather Manny who decided that this is a world so disconnected from reality that he tapped out of this episode. By the time we wrap, we are staring down the film's unbelievable box office numbers, the critic scores that feel like clerical errors, and the troubling fact that Nicholson's undercarriage has more screen presence than some billed actors. Pull up a chair and pour one out for Diane Keaton. You deserved better, we all did. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0337741/

Welcome back to this VERY special episode of Film Haven Reviews!! This week we are discussing Guillerlmo Del Toro's newest adaptation of Frankenstein (2025)!! We are also being joined by an incredibly special guest; my buddy Geoff Bretches who knows all things Gothic AND Occult which comes in handy when talking about this story that is so rooted in both! This is one of those novels that really changed my entire experience with Gothic Literature and so every adapation lends itself to incredible insight and limitless discussion. This movie is no different! Del Toro managed to stay true to the source material (and the 1931 film) while also blazing a new path himself, making a particularly fruitful and vivacious adapation that Geoff had a blast picking apart and analyzing. If you haven't seen the film yet, go to Netflix and watch it RIGHT AWAY!!! Otherwise, enjoy this amazing conversation!! In this episode of Geoff Schwartz Is Smarter Than You, Geoff and Matt break down every major matchup on the upcoming NFL slate — from Giants vs. Packers and Bills vs. Buccaneers to Commanders–Dolphins, Rams–Seahawks, Jaguars–Chargers, Bears–Vikings, Panthers–Falcons, and more. They discuss line value, teams showing real separation, and which coaches and quarterbacks can't be trusted in November. Geoff vents about YouTube TV and ESPN's feud, Matt debates betting philosophy, and the two reveal their five official best bets for the week, including Giants +7, Tampa +5.5, and Arizona +3. Geoff also closes the episode with his college football picks: Illinois, Washington, Iowa…and maybe Tulsa. If you're betting the NFL this week — or love hearing two degenerates overthink football — this episode has everything. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

Hosts Greg Bluestein and Patricia Murphy are joined by AJC senior reporter Tamar Hallerman to unpack the fallout from President Trump's sweeping pardons for his 18 federal co-defendants in the Georgia election interference case. They explain what the move means for the stalled Fulton County prosecution, how it could affect Lt. Gov. Burt Jones, and why replacing District Attorney Fani Willis has proven so complicated. Then the show kicks off Politically Georgia's Candidate Forum series with former Lt. Gov. Geoff Duncan, who talks about his decision to run for governor as a Democrat, his priorities on affordability and health care, and his message to voters who want to move past Trump-era politics. Jack's partner in ape podcast crime Geoff finally drops in to see what the heck is going on in season 3 of Picard, as Barm and Kev's files remain safely partitioned within the decrepit body of Brent Spiner. Against all odds, they're still enjoying this movie-like season of Picard and having the gang all back together at last, although certainly not without some caveats, some droid bar talk concerning a star-studded Mando ep, the New Jedi Order, how Changelings in space work, some wild coincidences, and the longest cold open in history. Pull up a chair, pour yourself a Nepenthe, and dig in. Fucking podcasters.

Season 19, Episode 8: Adam and Geoff are in London this week, where it's freezing and awful, and the dream of Perth summer beckons like a mirage. But this vision is real, as England are learning after arriving there themselves. We'll be not far behind. The new TFW book is launched, there's more Ashes squad intrigue, and a lap around the world takes in Paul Stirling making runs in the Ireland Test cap, Bangladesh's most dedicated reporter firing up after 25 underwhelming years at Test level, and Quinton de Kock slotting back in for South Africa. Also this week, a chat with Lacuna founder Leigh Burns on why making cricket kit for women grabbed her attention.
