Pastor Curtis Jackson of A Place Of Refuge Thomaston ministers from II Chronicles 20:3-4 on how a dogged church prospers in our 2025 Spring Revival. He teaches us how a church that is a go-getter in the things of God will prosper corporately as well as individually. Scripture: II Chronicles 20:3-4 And Jehoshaphat feared, and set himself to seek the Lord, and proclaimed a fast throughout all Judah. 4 So Judah gathered together to ask help from the Lord; and from all the cities of Judah they came to seek the Lord. Well. Here we are. We woke up this morning in the Year of Our Lord 2,025. Did you think we would make it? It's a little surprising to me, I have to say. But God isn't surprised. He has a plan to accomplish His purposes, and He's working that plan. That's what Jim would like to talk about on this New-Year's-Day broadcast as we finish out the sermon, Daniel's Prayer. Daniel knew what time it was, what year it was on Heaven's calendar - the exiles from Judah were about ready to move back to their homeland. Not fallowing is not following. Judah was taken into exile because of its idolatry, which doesn't surprise us. But there's another reason that God expelled the nation: they refused to follow His instructions for a 7-year sabbath of the farmland. There was more at issue than just nutrient replenishment of the soil. It was a question of who really owns that patch of earth, and whether He can be trusted to provide. We're still thinking about Daniel's Prayer. "For I know the plans that I have for you...." One of the most comforting promises in the Bible is found in Jeremiah 29: "'For I know the plans that I have for you,' declares the Lord, 'plans for welfare and not for calamity, to give you a future and a hope.'" We know the verse, but do we know the context? It's right in the middle of Jeremiah's prophecy of a 70-year exile. Daniel was moved less by the general words of encouragement, and more by the math. I recommend you give that short chapter a read. Jehoshaphat and Judah teach us a great deal about how God responds to faith. But faith is more than just a word. It includes initial turning to God, casting our eyes upon Him, and obeying His will. What it does not require is our own strength to prove ourselves to Him. On the contrary, time and time again, God proves Himself to His people. He is our amazing God, worthy of worship and adoration. He fights our battles. He often just asks us to show up and be prepared. But we must keep the faith until the end. Let's explore that journey together.

143: This is How I Fight My Battles Join us as we talk about how we fight our battles. Life is hard and we often encounter spiritual battles of different types and sizes. So, let's look at scriptures that tell us how to fight. 1. Trust God. Sometimes God allows us to experience a difficult season for a reason. Exodus14:13-14: Remember, the Israelites had been in a hard season. They had been released from captivity and were on the run. They feared Pharaoh would surely kill them, they blamed Moses, and they doubted they would be saved. God told them, "Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring you today." God has already fought our battle. 2. Engage Jesus. II Chronicles 20: Jehoshaphat receives a report that a huge army is on its way to fight them. He calls for fasting, for the people to seek God, and to pray. Jehoshaphat remembers God's past faithfulness in the past. We put our battle before the Lord and engage Him in our battles. Recall the truth of God's word. Instead of us fighting our battles, we can rest and let God fight for us. In the story of Jehoshaphat, the rivals armies that were coming to devour them, ended up fighting one another. When Jehoshaphat and his army entered the battle field, the enemy was already dead. 3. Be prepared. Ephesians 6:13-18: We are up against far more than we can handle on our own. We need to accept the help of God's weapons - truth, righteousness, peace, and salvation. These are our promises. Give your troubles to God, spending time in prayer. Pray long. Pray often. ***Do you have your Gather 2024 Women's Conference - GREATER tickets? Grab them at www.gather-women.com. We are here to help you engage and experience the more Jesus came to offer.
