Daily Devotional - Job 2:1-13 - Silent Suffering: Job's Pain DeepensEven after losing everything, Job's faith was tested again—this time through physical pain and isolation. Covered in sores, sitting in ashes, and misunderstood even by his wife, Job still refused to curse God. His response?“Shall we accept good from God, and not trouble?” (Job 2:10)Sometimes, the most powerful support we can offer is simply sitting with someone in silence—just as Job's friends did for seven days.
When everything Job had was taken from him—his wealth, his family, his security—he still worshipped God, saying:“The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord.” (Job 1:21)Life's trials may shake us, but our faith must remain unshaken. No matter what you're facing today, remember that God is still in control. Stay faithful, trust His plan, and hold on to His promises.
In Nehemiah 13, we see a leader who refuses to compromise on God's standards. Nehemiah returns to Jerusalem and takes bold action—restoring temple order, reinforcing Sabbath observance, and calling the people back to faithfulness. His story reminds us that true commitment to God requires courage, consistency, and a willingness to make hard choices.
Dedication and Celebration of Jerusalem's Wall
Nehemiah 11:1-36 - The Leaders and Settlers in Jerusalem In this chapter it is a very detailed account of the repopulation of Jerusalem after the exile. Since the city was underpopulated, leaders took residence there, and a tenth of the people were chosen by lot to join them. Others willingly volunteered to live in the city, receiving blessings from the people for their commitment. The chapter lists the families, priests, Levites, gatekeepers, and temple servants who resettled in Jerusalem and the surrounding towns, emphasizing the restoration of God's chosen city and the faithful service of its inhabitants. Nehemiah 9:1-38 records a powerful moment of national repentance and covenant renewal by the Israelites. Following the reading of the Law, the people gather in fasting, wearing sackcloth, and covering themselves in dust as a sign of humility and sorrow for their sins. The Levites lead a lengthy prayer recounting God's faithfulness throughout history, from creation to the Exodus, His provision in the wilderness, and His patience despite Israel's repeated disobedience. Acknowledging their failures, the people confess their sins and the sins of their ancestors, recognizing God's righteousness and mercy. The chapter concludes with the Israelites making a binding covenant to follow God's law and remain faithful to Him.If you would like to purchase my book:Coming To Loving Yourself Paperback - https://buy.stripe.com/eVadTVbp6cxl3gA288 Coming To Loving Yourself Ebook - Free on Kindle Unlimited - https://a.co/d/4UPEXQb Dr. Toya Spencer-Philmore - Repairers of The Breach Miracle Crusade Event Tickets - https://brushfire.com/toyaspencerm.../resuscitate2025/593102 Advertise On My Podcast - https://sharisenjohnson-moorellc.hbportal.co/public/PodcastAds Donations For The Podcast - https://buy.stripe.com/9AQ9DF1Ow40P6sM4gs
