We're learning more information about the shooter who killed two children and wounded 18 others during the mass shooting in southwest Minneapolis yesterday [Wed]. Videos have emerged where 23-year-old Robin Westman espoused hatred for numerous groups of people, but didn't appear to have a coherent ideology or motivation for the violence. MPR News Senior reporter Jon Collins and Correspondent Kate Martin from APM Reports have been looking into Westman's background. Jon joins me to talk about what he found.

SAPS Deputy National Commissioner for Crime Detection Lieutenant-General, Shadrack Sibiya has denied any interference in the disbandment of the political killings task team. Sibiya was speaking to the media outside the Pretoria High Court this morning. His case against police commissioner Fannie Masemola did not continue in Court today, after his legal counsel requested a special allocation on the matter and a full bench to preside over it. The Deputy National Commissioner was placed on leave of absence after KwaZulu-Natal police commissioner Lt General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi linked him to criminal syndicates that have infiltrated the police service and having a hand in the disbandment of the political killings task team.

On the 4th of January 1976, UVF gunmen burst in to a house in Whitecross, in South Armagh. They shot three young brothers, John Martin, Brian, and Anthony Reavey. John Martin and Brian died at the scene – Anthony died almost a month later. Their brother Eugene Reavey has now written a book - ‘The Killings of the Reavey Brothers: British murder and cover-up in Northern Ireland'. Episode 376: On June 6, 2021, Nathaniel Veltman, 20, deliberately drove his truck into the Afzaal family, Pakistani immigrants, as they walked along the road in London, Ontario. The attack killed four members of the Afzaal family: Talat Afzaal (74), Salman Afzaal (46), Madiha Salman (44), and Yumnah Afzaal (15), and severely injured 9-year-old Fayez Afzaal. Veltman admitted that he had targeted the family solely because they were Muslim, making this Canada's first fatal vehicle attack prosecuted as terrorism.
