Perhaps it takes an event like the World Cup to expose the hypocrisy of the U.S. being allowed to host the games while at the same time supporting a genocide and conducting an illegal war of aggression. We speak to human rights advocate Ajamu Baraka for this month’s episode of “The F-Word” on fascism. And protests continue against killings by ICE in Texas and Maine, and against construction of an ICE headquarters in a Black neighborhood of DC. Plus, headlines on Iran, ICE violence, the deaths of Nolan Wells and Daniel Erving, Capitol Hill news, and Trump’s continuing efforts to shut down the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. In today's episode, Tom, Drew, and Ryan break down a packed news cycle starting with the biggest CPI inflation drop since Covid and why it may signal a deep economic sickness rather than a recovery. Tom walks through the mechanism behind the drop, the collapse in labor force participation, and what China's refusal to buy oil despite falling prices reveals about a hidden downturn tied to its $18 trillion housing crisis. The conversation connects the global energy picture directly to the Iran war, where Trump has now formally notified Congress that the US is at war, restarting a 60-day clock and shifting toward a doctrine of disproportionate response. The team explores how a softening economy could hand Trump a political win heading into the midterms, and what China's distraction could mean for Taiwan. From there the episode moves into election integrity and immigration, including a Senate seat filled without an election, the bundling of voter ID with a US-Israel military bill, and a heated three-way debate on incentive structures, ballot harvesting, and the populist moment. The crew digs into ICE temporarily suspending most vehicle stops after multiple fatal shootings, including the death of a Colombian man with a work permit who wasn't the target, and what humane, rule-of-law policing should actually look like. The group then has an extended debate on fully AI-generated political ads, network TV, satire, and whether the answer is regulation or a technological trust system. Finally, Japan reclassifies crypto as a financial instrument, banning insider trading and opening the door to spot crypto ETFs, alongside quick hits on Circle's national trust charter, an AI companion from the makers of Genshin Impact, a SpaceX-founded manufacturing startup, and an Indian company breaking China's grip on rare earth magnets.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Legendary filmmaker Robert Greenwald joins Gaslit Nation to talk about his powerful documentary from Brave New Films, Gaza: Journalists Under Fire. We break down the horrifying media consolidation driven by Netanyahu-ally , billionaire Larry Ellison, who is actively dismantling beloved institutions like CBS to enforce a McCarthyist, pro-Netanyahu chill on American journalism. We also expose how Trump and Jared Kushner have dragged the US into an illegal, unconstitutional war with Iran, draining vital air defense systems for Ukraine, while Trump's ICE agents go on a killing spree, openly executing parents in front of their children, and expanding their network of concentration camps at home and abroad. As always, Gaslit Nation also provides ways to fight back and plant powerful seeds of hope and change—because we will ultimately build a better world. Former Police Minister Bheki Cele has told the TRC Cases Inquiry that he still wants the truth about the murders and disappearances of anti-apartheid activists. Cele says the urge to know who killed Victoria Mxenge and many others has never faded, adding that uncovering the truth would bring comfort to affected families. He also told the commission he was arrested almost every week after Mxenge's killing and was eventually instructed by his underground commander, which was Mr Jacob Zuma at the time, to leave South Africa because he had become a target for elimination.

Election year 2026 is turning deadly and dirty. In his latest interview with Chris Steyn, political commentator Solly Moeng slams the Speaker of Parliament for not opposing President Cyril Ramaphosa's urgent bid to stave off his impeachment inquiry. “I for one should not be surprised if the Speaker would have been called into some meeting somewhere with the political party leadership that deployed her…to say: listen, this is the way we want this thing to go.” He also laments the spate of political killings that has seen an African National Congress (ANC) councillor and two aspirant councillors, one from the Democratic Alliance (DA) and one from BOSA gunned down in one night. “... there are of course people who also see these as opportunities for a job to climb up and to access the feeding through as it were. Either way it's a very risky position because sometimes people are even killed by their own comrades, their own people from the same political party, wanting to occupy the position.” Lastly, Moeng reveals why he left ActionSA despite being brought back to South Africa by its leader Herman Mashaba after he had been forced out of the country by the ANC.
TV critic Wenlei Ma and Jason Di Rosso consider whether Stan's The Killings at Parish Station is what TV needs right now, and a pretty fresh take on the sports drama with The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins.
The defense says “other suspects.” Alex Murdaugh's own housekeeper of twenty years agrees there were other people in the picture — and her reading of it is the opposite of what the defense intends. When that plan collapsed, she says, he carried it out himself and built a narrative around the boat crash families to explain what happened.Blanca's theory comes from two decades of watching Alex use other people as instruments. Curtis Eddie Smith cashed four hundred thirty-seven checks. Enablers kept the financial machine running. Alex moved money through other people's hands and used relationships as cover. He built deniability into everything. Blanca says the murders fit the pattern, not the exception the defense needs them to be. She confronts the third-party culprit theory directly and explains why, based on twenty years inside that household, the idea that someone else did this without Alex doesn't match the man she knew.Attorney Eric Bland brings the strategic overlay. He built the financial fraud case prosecutors used as their motive theory and represented the victims. The Supreme Court ordered that evidence sharply curtailed at retrial. Bland explains what the prosecution keeps, what it loses, and whether the case can survive the cut. He addresses the defense's claim of new DNA evidence, whether Alex should testify again, why the kennel video may not hit the same jury the same way after three years of documentaries, and his prediction: high likelihood of reconviction, real possibility of a hung jury. He describes who the holdout juror is and what gets them there.Join Our SubStack For AD-FREE ADVANCE EPISODES & EXTRAS!: https://hiddenkillers.substack.com/Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? A charming stranger walked into San Francisco's gay nightlife scene with a pencil, a smile, and a sketch meant to make his victims feel seen. But behind the drawings was one of the city's most disturbing cold cases: the Doodler, a killer linked to at least six men and possibly many more. Fifty years later, police say they may still know who he is — but proving it is another story. Get early access to ad-free episodes with a 7-day FREE TRIAL of Crimehub Premium. Cancel anytime. I start this episode with two brutal murder cases that shook the West. Henry Nowak, a young British man, was stabbed multiple times by a Sikh attacker and tragically died in handcuffs after being falsely accused of racism, while Austin Metcalf, a promising athlete, was stabbed to death at a track meet by an entitled peer. Both cases highlight the failures of justice, soft sentencing, and the dangerous exploitation of racial accusations. I reflect on how these crimes expose societal vulnerabilities and the broader decay in law and order. Then I dive into political scandals and criticism, focusing on Joe and Jill Biden, the ongoing E. Jean Carroll saga, and the media's handling of Trump. I discuss the four-year coverup of Biden's cognitive decline, Jill Biden's role, and the DOJ's investigation of Carroll's lawsuit funding. I call out media figures like Kristen Welker and Scott Pelley as biased or incompetent, while touching on election irregularities, global communism, and the weaponization of lawfare in the U.S.Finally, I cover sports updates (NBA Finals, NFL controversies), money & investment insights, life in Medellín, Colombia, gender roles & dating trends, and so much more.

The highest mountain valley in Virginia is Burke's Garden, also referred to as “God's Thumbprint” for its bowl-like shape. It was here that something began killing sheep in the winter of 1952. Night after night, farmers woke to fresh losses, and no one could agree on what was responsible. Was it a wolf, a panther, or something stranger and unexplainable? This week we tell the story of Burke's Garden and the mysterious predator that became known as the “Varmint of Burke's Garden” and gripped an Appalachian community with fear for nearly a year.If you like our stories, be sure to subscribe to the Stories podcast. "The child is fine. She was in good shape, but she's too young to talk."On the evening of Thursday, December 12, 1985, shoppers at a K-Mart in Spanaway found a toddler loitering outside the entrance. She'd been spotted playing with two other children outside the store, but as shoppers came and went, the little girl remained outside. The store's assistant manager reported a missing child over the store's intercom, but that did nothing to rouse a parent or guardian.Because of her difficulties communicating, the little girl was unable to say much about how she'd ended up outside the store, much less where her parents had gone. But when asked what had happened to her mother, the girl could only say that "Mommy was in the trees."If you have any information about this story that you'd like to share, please reach through the following methods:Email: micheal@unresolved.meVoicemail or Text: +18312003550Learn more about this podcast at http://unresolved.meCheck out the podcast store at unresolved.dashery.comIf you would like to support this podcast, consider heading to https://www.patreon.com/unresolvedpod to become a Patron or ProducerBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/unresolved-a-true-crime-mystery-podcast--3266604/support.

Hidden Killers With Tony Brueski | True Crime News & Commentary
The financial crimes carried the first conviction. Twelve hours of stolen money, defrauded clients, and a pattern of lies so deep the jury only needed three hours to decide. The South Carolina Supreme Court just said none of that comes in this time. So what's left?Creighton Waters now walks into a courtroom with the physical case — and only the physical case. A crime scene compromised by rain and foot traffic. No recovered weapon. No DNA on Alex Murdaugh. And a witness who says she told SLED about an unidentified vehicle near the property on the day of the killings, parked close to where Paul stored firearms, and they let it go.Jennifer Coffindaffer and retired FBI Special Agent Robin Dreeke don't give SLED a pass. When a housekeeper hands you a vehicle description near a weapon storage location hours before a double homicide, running that lead down isn't optional. They walk through what that failure means for the prosecution's credibility at retrial and how Harpootlian will weaponize it.The defense signaled its strategy immediately. Harpootlian told reporters reluctant witnesses will come forward now, and those who don't will face subpoenas. Blanca Simpson, meanwhile, has a book out, a media tour behind her, and accounts that have shifted between what she told SLED, what she said on the stand, and what she's shared privately since. Coffindaffer and Dreeke examine whether Simpson helps or hurts the state the second time around. They also tackle the two-shooter scenario SLED couldn't eliminate, and the central question: does the kennel video lie hold the same power when a jury hasn't spent days watching a parade of people Alex stole from? In November of 1987, a young family living in a trailer outside Ina, Illinois was preparing to move away from the growing violence spreading through their community. Keith and Elaine Dardeen were raising their three year old son Peter and expecting another baby within weeks when something unimaginable happened inside their home. Police discovered Elaine, Peter, and the newborn infant beaten to death and arranged together beneath blankets in the family's waterbed, while Keith had vanished along with his car. But when Keith's body was found shot, mutilated, and dumped in a nearby wheat field, investigators realized they were dealing with something far more horrifying than anyone originally believed, a case that nearly forty years later still remains unsolved. Our other podcast: "FEARFUL" - https://open.spotify.com/show/56ajNkLiPoIat1V2KI9n5c?si=OyM38rdsSSyyzKAFUJpSywMERCH:https://www.redbubble.com/people/wickedandgrim/shop?asc=uPatreon: https://www.patreon.com/wickedandgrim?fan_landing=trueYoutube: https://www.youtube.com/@wickedlifeFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/wickedandgrim/ Instagram:Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/wickedandgrim/?hl=enTwitter: https://twitter.com/wickedandgrimWebsite: https://www.wickedandgrim.com/

In 2001, a German computer technician named Armin Meiwes posted an online ad asking if anyone wanted to be slaughtered and eaten. It was not a joke, not role play, and not a misunderstanding. Hundreds of people replied. One of them was Bernd Brandes, a successful engineer who fully understood what was being offered and agreed to it.After weeks of explicit communication, Brandes traveled to Meiwes's farmhouse in rural Germany. What followed was hours of prolonged violence, recorded on video, ending with Brandes being killed and cannibalized. Meiwes stored the remains in his freezer and continued eating them for months. What finally led to his arrest was not remorse, but another online post looking for a new victim. The case left Germany's legal system facing an unprecedented question. If the victim agreed, was it murder. In Meiwes's first trial, the court said no and convicted him of manslaughter. Public outrage followed. Prosecutors appealed, arguing the killing was driven by personal gratification and ritualized planning. In 2006, a higher court agreed. Armin Meiwes was convicted of murder and sentenced to life in prison, drawing a clear legal line that consent does not excuse killing.

In a special encore episode, we're reposting our episode from 2020.In this episode, we commemorate the anniversary of the tragic events of May 4th, 1970 at Kent State University, where agents of the state murdered 4 students and shot 9 others. Students, who'd been told the war was winding down in Vietnam, erupted in protest at campuses all over America when Richard Nixon announced the U.S. invasion of Cambodia on April 30th. At Kent State, a working-class public school in Northeast Ohio, protesting students and other burned down an ROTC building, a common target in the Vietnam protest era, and Ohio Governor James Rhodes, vowing a violent response, mobilized the National Guard and sent them to Kent. For two days the students and Guard skirmished, with the paramilitaries hurling tear gas and intimidating students. On May 4th, the Guard, unprovoked, started shooting into the crowd of students and shot 13, killing 4, from distances beyond 300 feet. These were extrajudicial killings and a sure sign the state would murder anyone who challenged its interests. The war had come home! Scott and Bob, who's also a historian of the Vietnam War and the 1960s and has published extensively on those subjects, talk about the background to the protests, the official, violent response, the aftermath at places like Jackson State, where 2 more students were killed, and the larger context of anti-state protests and their meaning, and lessons.----------Outro// "Green and Red Blues" by Moody
Is there something deeper behind the global rise in Christian persecution? In this powerful conversation, Billy Hallowell and Joel Veldkamp unpack the shocking reality unfolding in places like Nigeria and Iran, where violence, imprisonment, and fear are becoming the norm for believers. From deadly Easter attacks in Nigeria to Christians jailed under Iran's regime, the stories are heartbreaking and deeply spiritual. Is this simply a geopolitical conflict, or is something more sinister at play?As the Bible warns in Book of Revelation and Ephesians, the battle isn't just physical; it's spiritual. And many believe the rise in persecution points to a growing presence of evil operating behind the scenes.- More Christians are being killed in Nigeria than anywhere else in the world- Converts in Iran face prison, torture, and even death- Experts warn: the forces driving this may be more than politicalThis is a sobering, eye-opening look at evil, persecution, and the unseen battle unfolding across the globe and why it matters now more than ever.SPONSOR: Want to help the persecuted church across the globe?
