When two contradictory commands about remembering past events refused to be reconciled, Dr. Megan Roberts began exploring new theories to help her exegetical work. Trauma theory helped explain the Israelites engagement with memory. And working on what God's comfort can say to traumatized people hit a deep and personal cord in her own life. So Much More: Creating Space for God (Lectio Divina and Scripture Meditation)
In this episode, Jodie Niznik, host of So Much More, leads you in a guided meditation to help you find renewed strength and hope using Isaiah 40:28-31. The passage was originally meant to encourage God’s people who were weary and wayward, and it also offers timeless truths and promises for us today. Here are 3 takeaways from this Meditation: Remember God's Everlasting Presence: Isaiah 40 reminds us that the Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. These timeless truths remind us of God's unceasing care and understanding, strengthening our hope in Him. Renew Your Strength: We all encounter times in our lives when we feel weary and weak. Isaiah 40 teaches us that God gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Through our hope in Him, our strength is renewed, allowing us to “soar on wings like eagles.” Rest in God's Understanding: God understands our weariness, weakness, and exhaustion even better than we do. In times of struggle, we can find solace in His knowing and loving presence, allowing His understanding to comfort and guide us. The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. 29 He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. 30 Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; 31 but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. Send us your feedback — we're listeningIsaiah 40:31 — Jesus, Give Me Strength for Today and Renew My Spirit for What I Must Face TUESDAY 18 FEBRUARY 2026 — 5:00 A.M. From London to Sydney, Chicago, Lagos, Dublin, Toronto, Berlin, and Singapore, this 5 a.m. devotional rises with the global cry for strength — “Jesus give me strength,” “help me face today,” “I feel exhausted,” “renew my spirit,” “morning strength prayer,” “courage for today,” “I can't do this alone,” “Holy Spirit help me today.” Isaiah 40:31 (NIV): “But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” Psalm 143:8 (NIV): “Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go, for to You I entrust my life.” Jesus, as the world wakes and responsibilities rise, I bring You the places of weakness I cannot hide. You see the tiredness under the surface, the quiet discouragement, the emotional heaviness carried from yesterday, the fear of failing, the pressure of expectations, the weight of decisions waiting to be made, the anxiety of not feeling strong enough for what this day requires. And these mirror the exact searches rising across the globe this morning — Jesus give me strength, prayer for courage, morning strength prayer, I feel overwhelmed today, Holy Spirit help me, I need strength to carry on, renewal prayer, prayer for emotional strength, I feel drained, Jesus renew my hope. Jesus, breathe new strength into my spirit. Let hope rise where discouragement has sat too long. Lift my eyes from fear to faith. Holy Spirit, steady my thoughts, calm my heart, and strengthen my inner being. Renew my perspective. Restore my courage. Refresh my mind. Fill me with the resilience I do not have in myself. Let Your unfailing love meet me in the first light of this day and guide every step I take. I declare that today I will not walk in my own strength but in the strength of the Lord. Weariness will not define me. Fear will not hold me. Discouragement will not lead me. Jesus goes before me, the Holy Spirit strengthens me, and the Father watches over me. I rise into this day with renewed strength, renewed courage, and renewed hope. morning strength prayer, Jesus give me strength, Holy Spirit help me today, Isaiah 40:31 devotional, overwhelmed prayer, courage for today, global morning prayer, renewal and hopeSupport the showFor more inspiring content, visit RBChristianRadio.net — your home for daily devotionals, global prayer, and biblical encouragement for every season of life. How Can I Have Comfort When I Still Feel Guilty? | Christ For YouText: Isaiah 40:1–8 | Fourth Sunday in AdventAdvent says, “Get ready. The Lord is coming.” But what happens when you don't feel ready? What happens when your conscience starts shaking because you know you're guilty? And what do you do when guilt won't shut up and you start to fear that God is angry with you?In this sermon from Isaiah 40, God speaks to a trembling conscience with a verdict, not advice: “Comfort, comfort My people… her warfare is ended… her iniquity is pardoned.” This is not sentimental comfort. It's courtroom comfort. The war between God and sinners ends because God Himself comes near to pardon the guilty.Learn why comfort is not first a feeling but God's objective Word of forgiveness, why your conscience can lag behind the Gospel, and how God anchors your peace outside of you in what does not wither or fade: His enduring Word, delivered to you in Baptism and the Lord's Supper.Subscribe & Share:Apple Podcasts: Christ For YouSpotify: Christ For YouWebsite: ZionWG.orgContact:PastorRojas@ZionWG.org

On today's podcast, Pastor Cameron shares how Christmas and comfort go hand in hand. Jesus came to earth that He may bring comfort and consolation to His people.
In ancient road-building, when a king was coming to a city, workers would literally level the path—remove rocks, straighten curves, fill valleys, clear obstacles—so the king could arrive without hindrance. "Make straight in the desert a highway for our God," John says the same thing needs to happen in the human heart. He is saying repentance removes the rocks, straightens the curves, fills the valleys, builds the bridges, and clears the obstacles to make room in us for Jesus to come. “Repentance” is one of those words that can feel heavy. For some of us, it carries pain. For others, guilt. For others, images of street preachers with cardboard signs. But repentance—in the Bible—is one of the most freeing, healing, life-giving realities in the kingdom of God. It's not punitive. It's not shame-based. It's not God pointing a finger. Repentance is the invitation into becoming whole.

"Comfort, comfort my people, says your God." With these words, Isaiah delivers a beautiful proclamation of hope to a people in exile. In part 5 of a special 12-part series connecting Old Testament prophecy to New Testament fulfillment, we encounter the "Voice" crying in the wilderness. This Voice is St. John the Baptist, the herald who prepares the way for the Lord. He calls sinners to repentance, pointing to the truth that while all flesh is like grass that withers and fades, the Word of our God stands forever, and the Messiah has come. The Rev. Robert Smith, pastor emeritus in Ft. Wayne, IN, joins the Rev. Dr. Phil Booe to study Isaiah 40:1–11 This Advent series begins by covering the last Old Testament prophet, Malachi, and then spends twelve episodes alternating between Old Testament prophecy and New Testament fulfillment, tracing God's promises from Isaiah to the birth of Christ. The series explores Emmanuel's promise, the Davidic King, John the Baptist as forerunner, and reaches its climax with the Nativity. The final episodes examine the Suffering Servant, the shadow of the cross in Christ's infancy, Isaiah's Messianic mission statement, and John's declaration that "the Word became flesh." Thy Strong Word, hosted by Rev. Dr. Phil Booe, pastor of St. John Lutheran Church of Luverne, MN, reveals the light of our salvation in Christ through study of God's Word, breaking our darkness with His redeeming light. Each weekday, two pastors fix our eyes on Jesus by considering Holy Scripture, verse by verse, in order to be strengthened in the Word and be equipped to faithfully serve in our daily vocations. Isaiah 40:1-11 Comfort, comfort my people, says your God. 2 Speak tenderly to Jerusalem, and cry to her that her warfare is ended, that her iniquity is pardoned, that she has received from the Lord's hand double for all her sins. 3 A voice cries: "In the wilderness prepare the way of the Lord; make straight in the desert a highway for our God. 4 Every valley shall be lifted up, and every mountain and hill be made low; the uneven ground shall become level, and the rough places a plain. 5 And the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together, for the mouth of the Lord has spoken." 6 A voice says, "Cry!" And I said, "What shall I cry?" All flesh is grass, and all its beauty is like the flower of the field. 7 The grass withers, the flower fades when the breath of the Lord blows on it; surely the people are grass. 8 The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God will stand forever. 9 Go on up to a high mountain, O Zion, herald of good news; lift up your voice with strength, O Jerusalem, herald of good news; lift it up, fear not; say to the cities of Judah, "Behold your God!" 10 Behold, the Lord God comes with might, and his arm rules for him; behold, his reward is with him, and his recompense before him. 11 He will tend his flock like a shepherd; he will gather the lambs in his arms; he will carry them in his bosom, and gently lead those that are with young. Key Words: Comfort, Pardon, Sin, Glory, Behold, Flesh, Word, Good News, Shepherd Keystone Verses: Go on up to a high mountain, O Zion, herald of good news; lift up your voice with strength, O Jerusalem, herald of good news, lift it up, fear not; say to the cities of Judah, "Behold your God!" Here in John's gospel, we get a lengthy behind-the-scenes look at the Last Supper. As Jesus eats the Passover meal with his disciples, he knows that the hour of His crucifixion is drawing near. As both Lord and servant, Jesus leads by example and washes the disciples' feet and commands them to love one another. It's revealed that Judas will betray Jesus, and he departs from the other disciples to execute his plan. Jesus reveals the nature of the relationships within the triune Godhead, describing how the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit relate to one another. Finally, Jesus tells his disciples that they should expect to be persecuted by the world.John 12 – 1:10 . John 13 – 9:25 . John 14 – 15:31 . John 15 – 20:44 .
