Sermons. Teaching. To be and make committed followers of Jesus Christ. Crossing Community Church in Newtown, Pennsylvania.

Abraham is considered one of the forefathers of our faith, and yet in one chapter, he goes from faithful obedience to fearful foolishness. What happened? In this sermon, Pastor Tim explains how all of us are like a coin: one side is faithful and the other is fearful. Nevertheless, God remains the God who will fulfill His promises, regardless of how we react.

Colin Earle concludes the sermon series, "From Creation to Canaan" with a wrap-up of the entire Pentateuch. In this message, he outlines how God knows and sees our longings, and how He fulfills them all through Christ, His Son. While the Pentateuch was written long before Jesus walked on the earth, listen to how Jesus' salvation was foretold even in Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy.

Charge 1: Tim Smith (former Senior Pastor) Charge 2: Steve Adler (Lead Pastor)

Continuing the sermon series, "From Creation to Canaan," Pastor Steve covers the final book in the Pentateuch: Deuteronomy. In it, Moses gives his "farewell discourse" to the people, warning them to obey the Lord through several speeches and a repetition of key points of the Law. "Don't do this the hard way, like I did," Moses argues, "Obey the Lord." What is obedience, and why is it important? Pastor Steve unpacks the choice Moses gave to the Israelites, ending in the question, where is God calling you to obey today?

Next in the sermon series, "From Creation to Canaan," Pastor Steve gives an overview of the book of Numbers. It chronicles the fulfillment of God's promises to Abraham back in Genesis: the giving of the land, people as numerous as the stars, and His presence dwelling among them. At this point the Israelites have experienced God like no other people has before: He rescued them from Egypt with the ten plagues and parted the Red Sea for them. Now He dwells among them in the tent of meeting, and yet, how do they respond? They grumble! This reveals their discontentment with God, their inability to believe that He is good and that He can be trusted. Their dissatisfaction ultimately leads to their disobedience. Nevertheless, God's goodness is not a response to either human obedience or faith. It is independent of both. Rather, it flows out of the limitless goodness of His character.

Continuing the sermon series, "From Creation to Canaan," Colin leads us through the book of Leviticus. Commonly thought to be one of the most challenging books to read through, Leviticus is actually the center of the Pentateuch (the first five books of the Old Testament). Even more significantly, it centers on the Day of Atonement, the means our Holy God provided to dwell among a sinful people, the fulfillment of which we see in Jesus, our perfect Lamb.

Dr. Michael Breece leads us through the central theme of the book of Exodus: getting to know the I AM.

Beginning the new sermon series, "From Creation to Canaan," Pastor Steve walks us through the book of Genesis, highlighting key themes, stories, characters, and truths about God as revealed in His Word.

Bob Ciatto shared his story with us today. He openly shared his story of faithfulness and faithlessness, of ups and downs, highs and lows until Christ led him out of the darkness of his life into the light of new life in 2001 at the age of 36. In that time he describes his life as being "torn down & transformed" with a new heart of service.

Charge 1: Kevin Reilly (Elder) Charge 2: Tim Smith (Senior Pastor, stepping down)Sermon: Steve Adler (Lead Pastor)

Where is the goodness of God in the midst of our trials and circumstances? Chris Gregory testifies that from her childhood to the present day, His goodness has been present in her life--especially in the trials of life. His faithfulness has transformed all her days, even those of deepest pain, to a story of His goodness.

Do you think the plan of salvation is simple enough that a 4 year old can grasp its importance? Becky Heavener did! When she was only 4 years old she learned from her Sunday School teacher, Mrs. Shivel, that Jesus loved her and died so she could have forgiveness of sins. That truth changed the path of her life and the lives of many others in the years since she first heard it.

Today, Pastor Tim kicked off our study of the book of Acts, describing chapter 1 as a chapter of “in-between” — the time between Christ's ascension and the start of the New Testament church. He emphasized Christ's call for us to spread the Kingdom of God by serving as His witnesses to the ends of the Earth.

This week, Pastor Steve used Jeremiah 1 to share how God confirmed His calling for him to accept the nomination as our next Senior Pastor, while also announcing a new staffing structure for our church set to begin in 2026.

This Sunday, it was a joy to hear Elder Colin Earle share how he has experienced God's work in his life, leading him to full-time ministry. He is now being nominated to serve as the Ministry Director of Adult Ministries.
