Sarah sits down with best-selling author and storyteller, Josh Riebock, for an interview that is deeply refreshing, inspiring, and profound.. Josh is a poet and a nationally sought-after speaker on the subjects of storytelling, creativity, and honesty. Josh shares very openly about his rigid religious upbringing with a father who was an alcoholic and a mother who was a hoarder, and the way he sought asylum from this trauma through writing and stories and books- and how that eventually led him to becoming an author and speaker. He talks about his faith journey, and why he moved away from his pastor role at a church so that he could more freely ask the questions that were too difficult for him to ask. He shares how questions themselves are the bedrock for his ability to be creative, and how they have led him into a life that feels more authentic to who he was created to be. Sarah and Josh discuss themes of finding beauty in the "ugly parts" of ourselves, self-responsibility, and the way doubt leads to greater connection and intimacy. For more information on Josh and to follow his journey:www.joshriebock.comFor those who are interested in diving deeper into the work with Sarah...BLOOM WORKSHOPS + GUIDED SUPPORT/// Sign up HERE.For questions or comments:connect@sarahwalters.comInstagram:@roots.and.bloom
In Episode #10, Author, Speaker and Poet Josh Riebock joins us as we discover what it really looks like to live a creative life. Together, we'll go on a journey to confront the struggle that leads to great creativity, find the courage to push through failure and discover the freedom to live a creative life.
This is a conversation that stems from many other conversations and due to the unscripted nature of it you will hear it meander from our prior podcast conversation about creativity into a more recent conversation we've been having about Holiness versus Wholesomeness within our creative pursuits. I personally like the portions where Josh talks about the 'cocktail' or 'architecure' of creativity and where honesty, depth, and exploration into life fit in the mix. Likewise, I put him on the spot at the end of the podcast to share some of his poetry, so fast forward about 30 seconds as he chooses/finds a poem to share with us. Josh Riebock is a storyteller, poet, author, and friend. If you haven't read "Heroes and Monsters" check it out and you'll get a taste of what he shares in this podcast.

Special guest Josh Riebock joins Matt and Gabe as they dissect a movie that not only includes the use of Rorschach Tests, but could be considered one all on its own.
About three years ago, right around the time I turned 30 years old, I picked up Josh Riebock's book Heroes and Monsters and it found me in exactly the narrative the book spoke through. I don't remember many quotable quotes, but I remember exactly how the book made me feel about myself, God, my father and life at 30 years old, which I feel is far more important than just having a nice line from a book to sling in conversation.

Josh Riebock is a best-selling author, speaker and poet and consequently also very gracious to sit down with me for an hour and talk about life, the writing process, being relational vs being social and his uncanny knack to predict which character you will pick when playing Mario Kart (He got in my brain pretty deep on that one). I recorded the conversation and broke it up into two parts. I apologize in advance for the quality of the audio, that was completely my fault, but I hope you can see past that because the amount of wisdom to creative types Josh has to offer over the two part podcast is phenomenal.
In this special season finale episode of The Marrow, Josh shares some of his craft by reading three original poems and speaks about what they mean to him.
