The willingness to show up changes us. It makes us a little braver each time. ~Brené Brown You may remember that I chose the words “show up” as my focus for 2019. I wanted to show up in all areas of my life – from my work to my health to my friends and family, to myself. Today I thought I’d give you a bit of a behind-the-scenes look at how that’s going and what’s been getting in the way. My goal with this episode isn’t to make it all about me, but rather use my progress as an example to speak to how hard it can be for many of us to show up and be seen. I don’t have 5 quick tips in today’s episode either – this one is a little rawer than it is strategic. But sometimes we have to show up and tell the truth over another listicle, right? Listen in for a vulnerable, honest take about what it looks like when I lean into “showing up” as my mandate for 2019. Enjoy today’s episode. Today we’re going to talk about mastermind groups. What they are, why they work and I’ll also give you a behind-the-scenes look at mine. Let’s start at the top. What exactly is a mastermind group? The term was originally coined by the infamous Napoleon Hill, author of “Think and Grow Rich” in 1925, which he then defined as “two or more people coming together in harmony to solve problems.” Now almost 100 years later, the core promise of a mastermind group isn’t that different. Essentially, I see it as a small group of people coming together around a shared interest or idea - whether that’s for business, personal growth, leadership, health and wellness, money or any other important topic If you’ve been in business circles online for any amount of time, you’ve likely heard about mastermind groups. They are a popular option for business owners looking to combat entrepreneurial isolation and make serious progress on their goals. Listen in to learn more about the two different kinds of masterminds, five reasons why they work so well and a behind-the-scenes look at my Leadership League Mastermind. *** We are currently accepting applications for the February 2018 group.
