In honour of Mother's Day and my mom. My mom passed away two years ago, one of the many things she taught me was to believe in myself. She truly believing that I could do whatever I want to do. One of my favorite quotes is by Henry Ford "Whether you think you can, or you think you can't – you're right." Listen to this week’s Ready for More! Podcast weekly tip where I share some inspiration from my mom. If you like what you hear please come and join the Ready For More! Women Business Owners Circle, we are a Facebook group of 40+ women entrepreneurs helping each other reach for our More! Celebrating 50 Episodes First of all, I can’t believe this is Episode 51! When I started this journey I didn’t know where it was going to go. I’m in awe of the women I get to meet and their story. I’m thankful that I get to share them with you through this medium of podcasting and I look forward to sharing more stories of awesome women. If there’s a woman out there that you think would make an amazing interview for the show. Please let me know here: contact form. Yes, You Can! It's Mother's Day when I'm recording this and there are amazing messages all over the Internet, Facebook, Instagram and everywhere. Wishing strong women, Happy Mother's Day. My mother passed away two years ago, I miss her but I know she is always with me. One of the many things my mother taught me was to believe in myself. She truly believing that I could do whatever I want to do. She also taught us that one misstep, one thing that doesn't go right isn't going to affect the rest of your life. My mother did it in a very quiet and powering way that just made us believe that we could be and do anything. One of my favorite quotes is by Henry Ford "Whether you think you can, or you think you can't – you're right." How can you stop yourself when you say you can't do something? When you have a negative feeling about your abilities. Here's the truth - you can do anything. Yes, it's hard. Yes, it takes work, but that doesn't mean that you can't do it. Sometimes we're so risk-adverse, we're so worried about what might not work that we don't take the chance and allow something to work. Can you relate to that? So that's what I wish for you today. Take the chance, take the leap of faith, believe in yourself the way that your mother would believe in you. And so what if it doesn't work out? Yes you can! Just do it, jump in and go for it. That's when you'll see the brilliant moments in your business and you'll see it go to the next level. Happy Mother's Day to everyone, take some risk in your business and believe in yourself. It's difficult to stay in your mastery and offer your clients the best solutions - When we stray from our brilliance we are not giving our clients our best. We are all faced with doing something new in our business. It is almost impossible not to be given the rapid changes in how we communicate and market. Learning something new can be uncomfortable, it can difficult, it can be frustrating, it can be exciting and all of those feelings are normal. Listen to this week’s Ready for More! Podcast weekly tip where I share the 4 four stages of learning any new skill. If you like what you hear please come and join the Ready For More! Women Business Owners Circle, we are a group of 40+ women entrepreneurs helping each other reach for our More! The Four Stages of Learning There are four stages of learning that we all go through when we take on something new. Whether it is learning how to drive a car, develop a product or start to use Instagram. The 4 stage are: 1) Unconscious Incompetence – This is the stage where “we don’t know that we don’t know”. Where we don’t actually know something is out there to learn or use. For example, many of my clients have never thought about creating an online offering and have no idea how to do it. 2) Conscious Incompetence – At this stage, we now know about what we want to learn but we have no idea on how to do it. We start and it is often pretty rocky, scary and overwhelming. Remember the 1st time you tried to ride a bike? 3) Conscious Competence – At this stage, we’ve proven to ourselves that we can now implement the new skill. We are starting to see the results that we want and we are able to repeat, with confidence, the new skills. However, it still takes concentration not to falter. 4) Unconscious Competence – In this final stage, we become so used to performing a particular skill we don’t have to think about it anymore. It becomes second nature, we just do it. As business owners, it important be aware of these stages and allow them to happen. It is important to not give up when you are stage 1 or 2. You have to give yourself time to learn the skills and build your confidence. What in your business is in Stage 4: Unconscious Competence? Are learning something new and in stage 1, 2 or 3? What new. Today I was stuck. It was a combination of holiday hangover and a few things going on with my fur baby. I just couldn't get anything done and was lacking any energy. I needed to get unstuck. What do you do to get unstuck? Listen to this week’s Ready for More! Podcast weekly tip and learn 3 ways to get unstuck. This episode was a spontaneous topic as I shared how I got unstuck and back to being productive. If you like what you hear please come and join the Ready For More! Women Business Owners Circle, we are a group of 40+ women entrepreneurs helping each other reach for our More! Highlights: 3 Ways to Get Unstuck Let’s face it, we all get stuck. It is part of life and it is part of being in business. Certainly, you can let it spin in your heads and get frustrated or you can refocus your energy. I know when I get really stuck I’ve learned to do one of the following: Get away – If I’m really stuck and frustrated the best thing for me is to get away from it for a while. Get up from the computer and get moving, go for a walk, run a business errand, do something that takes you away from sitting and thinking. I find the best breakthroughs happen for me when I’m out walking my dog and my mind is able to relax and be constructive. Talk it out – Sometimes being stuck requires someone else’s perspective. Talking it out with a close associate or business coach can help you see beyond your “stuck” and your own blinders to your situation. It can help you determine what is the next step you need to take.Focus on another activity – As Stephen Hawking says, “keep thinking about the problem but work on something else”. A personal example: I sometimes get stuck generating content for a program, a podcast or a blog post. I refocus and work on something else then ideas start to crystallize and the creative juices start to flow. What do you do to get unstuck? Please share below!
