How AI Is Reshaping Betting, the Harsh Reality of Going Pro & More | Presented by Kalshi

Artificial intelligence is starting to reshape the sports betting landscape, and this episode digs into what that actually means going forward. The crew breaks down how AI is being used, where it actually matters, and where the hype gets out of control. From there, the conversation shifts to a so-called “documented” loser in the betting space and what that situation reveals about public tracking, transparency, and credibility. The episode also gets real about the harsh realities of trying to go pro in sports betting — variance, lifestyle pressure, misconceptions, and what most people underestimate about the grind. As always, the discussion branches into broader industry truths and uncomfortable realities bettors don't always like to hear. Circle Back is hosted by Jacob Gramegna and features Joey Knish and Mike (Mr. PeanutBettor). This episode also welcomes two-time betting contest winner Chris Dierkes, who brings firsthand perspective on competing, winning, and surviving at the highest levels of sports betting.

I'm excited to share this conversation with Drew Hunter. I've wanted to have Drew on the show for a long time, and this episode did not disappoint. Drew runs professionally for ASICS and lives in Boulder, Colorado, but his path in the sport has been anything but typical. He went pro straight out of high school, turning down a full scholarship to Oregon, and has now spent nearly a decade navigating the ups and downs of professional running before making a sponsor change to ASICS last year. In this conversation, we talk about what it was really like going pro so young, how different that decision might look today with NIL, and how his perspective has shifted ten years into his career. Drew opens up about setting goals based on what genuinely excites him, why road racing has become such a big focus, and how he's thinking about longevity in the sport as both an athlete and a dad. We also talk about family life, faith, and the importance of community, especially as he and his wife prepare to welcome their third child. What I appreciated most about this episode is how grounded Drew is in who he is now. He reflects honestly on early loneliness, big expectations, and how his definition of success has changed over time. This conversation goes well beyond race results and gets into what it looks like to build a meaningful life alongside big athletic goals. I really enjoyed this one, and I hope you do too. If you enjoy the episode, please take a moment to leave a rating and review. It's one of the best ways to help new listeners find the show. Topics Discussed: Drew's indoor season plans, upcoming 3K, and building toward Millrose How he's thinking about 2026 goals and the World Road Running Championships in Copenhagen What excites him when he sets goals and why he likes mixing in road racing Why road racing feels like the future of the sport and how it brings fans into it Becoming a dad young, building a family, and how that shifts his mindset around running Community, church, and why having people nearby matters for parenting and life Converting to Catholicism and how he explored faith through reading and learning How he met his wife and how COVID changed the timeline Choosing to go pro out of high school, how NIL changes that decision now, and the realities of pro life Loneliness early in his pro career, moving to Boulder, and building Tin Man Elite and his training setup with his parents Support our Sponsors: Aletheia Run lets you see what your body is actually doing with every step by using a lightweight sensor that creates a unique force portrait of your movement. It gives personalized feedback, targeted drills, and science-backed insights to improve performance and help prevent injuries, bringing the running lab right to your everyday training. (CAMW!) is calling on state lawmakers to undo proposed cuts to multiple successful workforce development programs, including one that helps small businesses offset the cost of training their workers and another providing career and educational assistance for at-risk youth. “While I understand that resources are limited, and legislators have difficult decisions to make, these are programs with proven successful track records,” said Carrie Rosingana, chief executive officer of CAMW!. “During times of fiscal uncertainty, we would strongly encourage lawmakers to continue to fund programs where you know you'll get a good return on your investment, and that's why we need these programs off the chopping block.” One of the programs entirely defunded is the Going PRO Talent Fund, which awards grants to businesses to train employees for an area of demonstrated need and gives them an industry-recognized skill or credential. Only employees who primarily work in Michigan are eligible, and over the last 10 years, over 90% of awards have gone to businesses with less than 500 employees. “MediLodge, which operates over 50 skilled nursing and rehabilitation facilities across Michigan, has relied on GPTF since 2022, to support the training of nearly 4,000 health care workers, helping them gain vital skills to better serve Michigan's aging population. Workers who completed training saw an average wage increase of 8% within six months,” said Heidi Lowe, talent acquisition project director at MediLodge. “This isn't just about reimbursement dollars and training hours; it's about building a resilient health care system. MediLodge uses GPTF to show what strategic investment in workforce development can lead to: better patient care, higher employee retention and stronger local economies.” CAMW! and the other 15 Michigan Works! agencies around the state are an integral part of the GPTF application process. CAMW!'s Business Services staff conduct fact-finding missions, help employers determine training needed for their workforce to include in an application, support employers in finding a training source and facilitate the application process. ### ABOUT CAMW! Maggi Congdon is blowing past expectations and Olympic medalists on her way to the world stage. In June, she grabbed NCAA bronze in 4:09.31. Just weeks later, she was dropping under two minutes in the 800, running 1:59.39 to earn silver at the USATF Outdoor Championships in Eugene. Her run through the rounds in Eugene was just as electric. In the semifinals, Congdon clocked a lifetime best of 1:58.42, finishing ahead of Olympic medalist Raevyn Rogers and punching her ticket to the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo this September. This trajectory checks out when you trace it back a bit: Growing up in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, Congdon was a multi-time state champion in the 800 and 1600.At Northern Arizona University, she found a program built for producing champions—and 2025 has become the year she's turned potential into proof. In February, she stormed to a Husky Classic mile win in 4:27.77, rewriting the meet, school, and Big Sky record books. Months later, she stood on the NCAA podium in the 1500.With Tokyo on the horizon, Maggi isn't just another name on the start list—she's a serious medal contender with momentum that feels unstoppable. In today's conversation, Maggi walks me through this breakthrough at USAs, the blueprint that got her here, her relationship with Coach Mike Smith, going Pro with NIKE, and a glimpse into her future, her ambitions for Tokyo, and so much more. Tap into the Maggi Congdon Special.  If you enjoy the podcast, please consider following us on Spotify and Apple Podcasts and giving us a five-star review! I would also appreciate it if you share it with your friend who you think will benefit from it. Comment the word “PODCAST” below and I'll DM you a link to listen. If this episode blesses you, please share it with a friend!S H O W  N O T E S-The Run Down By The Running Effect (our new newsletter!): https://tinyurl.com/mr36s9rs-BUY MERCH BEFORE IT'S GONE: https://shop.therunningeffect.run-Our Website: https://therunningeffect.run -THE PODCAST ON YOUTUBE: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UClLcLIDAqmJBTHeyWJx_wFQ-My Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/therunningeffect/?hl=en-Take our podcast survey: https://tinyurl.com/3ua62ffz

Undertrain now, dominate later. That philosophy–his dad's choice to undertrain him in high school–turned a patient Wisconsin high schooler named Drew Bosley into one of the NCAA's fiercest finishers. At Northern Arizona University, Bosley became an NCAA cross country podium finisher, broke the collegiate indoor 3000m record in 7:36.42 (which has since been broken), and stacked All-American honors across multiple distances. Along the way, he clocked personal bests of 3:39.32 in the 1500m, 3:59.34 in the mile, 13:13.26 indoors and 13:17.06 outdoors for 5000m, and a blazing 27:53.48 for 10,000m–times that placed him among the nation's elite. His journey hasn't been without turbulence. A quiet 2024 season tested his patience and resolve, but the comeback was worth the wait. Bosley stormed back in April 2025 with a 27:53.48 personal best at the Stanford Invitational and later placed 20th in the 10,000m at the NCAA Outdoor Championships. Then he held his own against America's best, placing seventh in the 10,000m at the USATF Outdoor Championship in Eugene. Now, Bosley is stepping onto the professional stage, signing with Nike's Swoosh Track Club in Flagstaff under coach Mike Smith. Patience is a strange weapon in distance running. Drew Bosley turned it into a superpower. In today's conversation, Drew takes me through his adversity over the past few years, how he overcame it, the dream of signing with NIKE, his plans for his pro-career, lessons from being a part of NAU's domination, learning Bob Dylan on the guitar, and so much more. Tap into the Drew Bosley Special.

In our conversation, he reflects on: The training methods that fueled his breakthrough His advice for caring less about ratings The outsized role of age and stamina in senior chess Lessons learned from legends like Korchnoi and Keres Alex's story shows the power of playing actively against all comers, staying curious, and embracing new challenges, and he provides inspiration for chess players of all levels. And the market has spoken - they raised over $100,000 on Kickstarter on their very first day because they're doing something unique. Embedded in their bouncy, lightweight Supertrainer is a sensor that measures impact and your running form, showing you how much force your body is experiencing and when during your run your form starts deteriorating. This gives you incredible insights into your unique form, how it changes, and when it breaks down so you better understand your injury risk and when you get fatigued. The shoes never need to be charged and you can reuse the sensor in each pair of Avelo's. Their app gives you real-time coaching that I had a lot of input on, based on your unique data. 7-15-25 Tonight at 9PM ET we'll be talking with Tom Repas. Tom has been on the show before, and we're having him back, as he's an absolute fountain of information! And he makes 'ok' mead. We're going to delve into the bees and their care. What you may not be aware of is that 3 years ago, Tom started making his 'ok' meads professionally. Apiflora Mead, made and available at Zymurcracy Beer Company in Rapid City, South Dakota. Tom is a Master Beekeeper and owner of Canyon Rim Honey Bees, providing bees and honey in the Black Hills of South Dakota. Tom speaks on beekeeping all over the country, and has presented several times at the AMMA MeadCon on both beekeeping and meadmaking. Tom has won a large number of awards for his mead as well. Tom is a 4th generation beekeeper, and has been working with bees since he was a kid. He kept bees and sold the honey for extra money in high school. He went into professional beekeeping while he was still active as a medical doctor, and has developed a cross for bees that are gentle, overwinter well, and are mite resistant. On the mead side of things, Tom is a very talented mead maker who consistently wins medals with his meads, and has a skill for thinking outside the box for flavor profiles. His mushroom mead was the talk of the mead community for some time when he brought it out to taste. I got to try it, I was stunned at how good it was. Of course, Tom uses his own honey, as well as honeys from other providers and areas, and they're all good! Tom says his meads are 'ok'. We think they're better than that, lol. This Episodes Questions: Brian's Questions: My neighbor gave me a beautiful maple root ball that is approximately 3' in diameter about 6 months ago. I am currently letting it dry for another 12 to 24 months. I'm thinking of eventually rough cutting it with a large reciprocating saw. The wood will be used for small boxes or knife handles. Am I crazy? Do you have any advice on dry times and using root wood? George Guy, I am making a bow front dresser and plan to use Blum Blumotion undermount slides for the drawers. However, I'm not sure how I should attach the front of the slide to the bottom of the draw, since the draw front will be curved. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Also, the draws will be inset, but since the blumotion has a fair amount of flexibility (up/down and left/right)  I am thinking aligning the draw fronts should be doable. But do you have any suggestions to make it as simple as possible? Finally I see Rockler has a “JIG IT” under mount drilling guide. Do you use this jig and do you recommend it? Thanks so much!!! Mike Guy's Questions: I live in Fishers, IN and am new to woodworking and was wondering how to find good places for hardwoods? It's been pretty tough to find anything local without driving a decent distance to a mill on the west side of town. Chayse Bell I'm preparing to build a set of kitchen cupboards from white oak.  The style will be Mission, with some Frank Lloyd Wright Prairies Style touches.  I have several questions. How much planer snipe is too much?  I have a Dewalt 13” model 735 benchtop planer.  If I take a short board—say, two feet—and run it through once taking a 1/16 cut, I get 8/1000ths snipe.  Is this to be expected?  …or should I look at getting my planer serviced or maybe trading up.  (The Laguna Tools PX16 planer looks amazing, but six times the money.) Darrin Huy's Questions: Thank you all for what you do. Like so many other woodworkers, I have accumulated quite a bit of wood through my own purchases and also from inheriting my fathers wood collection after he passed away. I would like to move it out of my two car garage workshop to free up space, and am considering building some sort of dry storage box to store it under a deck in my backyard. (I don't have room for a large lumber shed). Thinking roughly 14 foot by 4 foot by 4 foot.  This box would obviously be exposed to the weather as the deck is not sealed. What are your thoughts on this?  And if you were to build this box, would you seal it relatively airtight or would you simply stack the lumber off the ground and put a piece of tin or something over the top to allow airflow. In the second example, I worry about snow, rain and bugs getting access to the lumber. Thanks in advance for your response. Eric in Lincoln Nebraska Hey gentleman, first of all, thank you for the amazing podcast and the fluff-free format. I've been a hobbyist woodworker for about 6 years and I'm at the point where I'm considering turning my hobby into a side job of sorts. My question is: in your opinion, what separates an amateur woodworker from a professional woodworker? Are there certain skills, techniques, or projects you learned that really elevated your confidence or status in the craft? Thanks again, and keep up the awesome content! Adrien from Toronto (Canada)

Welcome in for another edition of the Morning Espresso from the SDH Network, brought to you by Oglethorpe University, Atlanta's premier undergraduate learning experience and soccer powerhouse. One of the wildest comebacks in the history of Manchester United might not just save their season, but might just save their status as an elite-level club as the Red Devils were trailing 4-2 to Lyon in extra time with less than 10 minutes to play and they came all the way back to win 5-4 on the night and 7-6 on aggregate. Non-forwards who were pressed into attacking roles Kobbie Mainoo & Harry Maguire scored the goals that leveled it and won it. Of course the Champions League final comeback win is going to be bigger, but there isn't a more shocking comeback and from a deeper position in a meaningful match that I can remember. Spurs continue on in the Europa League as well and Ange Postecoglou is enjoying sticking it to his critics after they knocked out Eintracht Frankfurt. Could it be an all-England Europa League final? Sputs have to get past Norwegian champs Bodo/Glimt while Manchester United will face Athletic Club de Bilbao. All MLS matches this weekend are tomorrow and the highlight is Columbus hosting Miami in Cleveland. Both teams are unbeaten, but Miami does have to think about Thursday's trip to Vancouver for the first leg of the Concacaf Champions Cup semifinals. Some other tasty matchups this weekend, be on the lookout for this week's MLS Six Pack later today on the SDH Network.UEFA Women's Champions League semifinals start this weekend with former Arsenal manager Joe Montemurro leading his Lyon side against the Gunners while Chelsea and Barcelona meet for the third straight year at this stage. Barcelona have won the last two, but Sonia Bompastor will continue the Quadruple-chase for the Blues. African Champions League semifinals also start this weekend as two Egyptian clubs, Al Ahly who have won 4 of the last 5 titles and Pyramids, face two South Africa clubs in Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates, respectively. First legs in South Africa this weekend, second legs next Friday in Cairo. According to Spanish reports, Jurgen Klopp has agreed to speak with Real Madrid about their coaching job that is expected to be open after the Copa del Rey final against Barcelona next weekend. Carlo Ancelotti is still in the sights of Brazil, who want him in place before the June World Cup qualifiers. More to come on this, but Georgia Impact sent the SDH Network a statement about their inclusion in WPSL Pro, the new women's second division professional league launching next year. "For too long female soccer players thought the end of the road was after 4 years in college. Now we can offer them the opportunity to live their dream by making it as a professional soccer player," said Robert Roddie, the Georgia Impact head coach. Their season at the amateur level of the WPSL starts very soon in Canton, coverage coming shortly all over the SDH Network as they start their preparations for becoming a professional club in 2026. More Espresso on Monday on the SDH Network, presented by Oglethorpe University.
