Angie Benson is a current goalkeeper for the Virginia Tech Women's Lacrosse Team who had previously played for Towson in 2016 and 2017, before stepping away from the game for a few years. Angie talks about growing up in Palm City, Florida, how she got into lacrosse, playing goalie, and what it is like to be a black woman in a mostly white sport. She discusses her great lacrosse career at Martin County High School, participating in weightlifting and golf, the recruiting process, and why she chose Towson. Angie describes her two seasons there, her decision to leave, moving back to Florida and starting her own business, and how the opportunity at Virginia Tech came to be. She talks about the process of returning to the NCAA, finding a new joy for the game, getting off to a great start to the 2020 season before COVID-19 cancelled spring sports, and being able to return for the 2021 season.
