I could not be celebrating my fifteenth anniversary as a content creator and interviewer without welcoming back one of my all-time favorite guests and Reality TV alums, Paulie Calafiore, to Jake's Take with Jacob Elyachar.  Paulie first made his way to Reality TV when he was cast on CBS's Big Brother 18, where he won two HOHs and three Vetoes before being evicted on Day 66. He next made his MTV debut on the inaugural season of Ex on the Beach USA. After the show, Paulie ventured onto The Challenge: Final Reckoning, where he teamed up with Big Brother rival Natalie Negrotti. Despite being eliminated in the second and third episodes, the duo returned to the game near the season's end, where they ultimately placed third.  He returned for War of the Worlds 1 and partnered with Natalie “Ninja” Duran and (for two episodes) Georgia Harrison. Paulie won seven daily challenges but did not make it to the finale. In War of the Worlds 2, he, along with Cara Maria Sorbello, Ninja, and series veterans Ashley Mitchell, Kam Williams, Leroy Garrett, and Zach Nichols, took command of Team USA and won four daily challenges before gassing out and finishing second.  Four years after War of the Worlds 2, Paulie Calafiore returned to CBS to compete in The Challenge USA: Season 2. Despite reconnecting with allies such as Amanda Garcia, Cory Wharton, and Wes Bergmann, and rebuilding bridges with foes including Johnny Bananas, Josh Martinez, and Tori Deal, Paulie was sent home early after losing to the seven-time Challenge champion in the Fire and Ice arena game.   Paulie returned to compete on the milestone season, The Challenge 40: Battle of the Eras, representing Era Four. Sadly, he was eliminated by his longtime rival, Theo Campbell, in the show's classic Hall Brawl elimination. Since that appearance, he appeared with Cara Maria Sortbello on Hulu's Vanderpump Villa and Netflix's Pop The Balloon.   When he is not on Reality TV, Paulie owns Paulie Calafiore Management and Productions. He leads with a vision to produce original, high-quality content that resonates deeply with audiences. His company focuses on bold storytelling, creative collaboration, and the embrace of emerging technologies to push the boundaries of entertainment across television, film, and digital platforms. This week we talk about A Ninja and an Assassin Under One Roof. We joke about it being not exactly kid-friendly, talk about how side characters get introduced and immediately die for anyone who is not a MC, and we get weirdly invested in the “rules” behind the cleanup powers once the show finally reveals limits. We also talk about how the assassin is frugal with their money but also at the same time they are really messy. We cann't help but laugh at how the series undercuts heartfelt moments with absurd gags including the whole robot-replacement scenario. By the end, we land on it being watchable and it is entertaining in bursts, although it is a little slow at times, and it leaves some plot holes and unfinished plot lines. About the anime:Satoko is an unwitting runaway ninja with basically zero survival skills, and when she's about to starve until she runs into Konoha, a normal-looking high school girl, steps in and helps her out. The twist is, Konoha isn't normal at all, she's actually an assassin. Thanks to Satoko's unique skill and high luck they strike up a deal. Satoko gets a roof over her head, food and a little money, while Konoha gets help cleaning up the evidence after jobs, because Satoko's ninjutsu can conveniently turn things into leaves and make problems disappear, and a live-in house keeper. Meanwhile, Satoko's old ninja world won't let her just vanish quietly, so their daily lives keeps getting interrupted by all the other ninjas showing up at the worst times. Susan Murphy is dragged by her anthropologist parents to the Arctic so they can study the Eskimo tribe who introduced the world to Gamera. Susan is angry she will miss her last two years of high school while her younger twin siblings, Shawn and Sharon, love that they live closer to the North Pole and Santa Claus. But Susan won't have any of this “baby stuff” and berates the twins, who run away. Susan is forced by her father to search for them, and she wrecks her snowmobile in a blizzard. When she awakes, she finds herself in the North Pole, which has the twins, Elves, a talking polar bear, and, yes, Santa Claus. If that wasn't enough, she and her siblings get caught up with an invasion by Santa's evil brother, Krampus, who commands an army of Goblins and a kaiju reindeer. Gamera intervenes, but he's left-for-dead by the monstrous reindeer. Now, Susan and her new friends race against time to revive the Friend to All Children with Santa's magic Wreath crown.
