Zacchaeus was a wealthy tax collector who was disliked by literally everyone around him, but when Jesus came to town, he went out of his way just to see Him.Pastor Kevin walks us through Luke 19 and how Jesus met him right where he was and how that encounter changed Zacchaeus's heart, leading him to make things right and live differently.
The Bible is full of "church words." They weren't that way to begin with - - but 2,000 years of using them can isolate their meaning + make them difficult to understand!Justification is one of those words. It's central to the Christian Faith and what it means to be a believer in Jesus. But what does it mean?In this sermon, Pastor Kevin continues to trace Paul's outline of Christianity in the book of Romans by breaking down the meaning of this word.

Pastor Kevin continues teaching verse by verse through the book of Colossians. The passage of study is Colossians 2:16-19. In 2:16-19, we walk through Paul's warning against and description of the syncretistic false teaching which was impacting Colossae. Part 2 to come next week!
Often times when we talk about Daniel we jump to the lion's den. It is an incredible story. But it didn't really start there. The story really began after the kingdoms of Israel are conquered by Babylon. Daniel was one of the young, smart, valuable people brought back to Babylon. In this message, Pastor Kevin will walk us through how Babylon didn't immediately attack his faith, it came after his identity.
Most of us pray for relief when life gets difficult. The early church prayed for something different. In this message from Acts 4:23–31, Pastor Kevin Deyette explores how the believers responded to opposition by asking God for boldness instead of escape—and how God empowered them to remain faithful in the midst of it. In this sermon, Pastor Kevin from Restoration Church in Yakima, WA examines the prayer of the early church, what it means to trust God's sovereignty in the face of opposition, and how the Holy Spirit empowers believers to boldly proclaim the gospel. If you're searching for biblical teaching on prayer, courage, the Holy Spirit, or faithful Christian living, this message from Acts 4 offers practical insight rooted in God's Word. If you're looking for a church in Yakima, we'd love to have you join us at Restoration Church. Join us on Sundays as we worship and study God's Word together.

In Luke 11:14-28, Pastor Kevin looks at how Jesus casts out a demon and answers the crowd's claim that his power came from evil, showing his authority comes from God alone. This message walks through what it looks like to be caught in a spiritual battle, why a divided kingdom cannot stand, and how Jesus is stronger than any darkness working against us. It also touches on forgiveness, the danger of doubting God's word, and why lasting change comes through the Holy Spirit rather than self effort. Apart from Christ we have no defense against evil, but in Christ that battle has already been won.
Pastor Kevin continues teaching verse by verse through the book of Colossians. The passage of study is Colossians 2:11-15. In 2:11-15, we look into what Paul communicates regarding Jesus' victory at the Cross and its impact on the Colossians' (and all believers') position in Christ!
In Psalm 150 we hear the words: "Let everything that has breath praise the Lord." Those ancient words were sung by the people of Israel in their communal worship. And those same ancient words find expression in songs released in the last 10 years! What's up with "praise"? Why do we do it? Who is it for?In this conversation, Pastor Kevin sits down with Amanda Kilpela as they reflect on their experiences "praising." Their experiences represent just a sliver of the wide, historic, and varied forms of praise that exist around the world. What has your experience looked like? Do you still "praise" today?Listen and consider when you've been moved to praise (or moved by it!), and consider inviting someone else to share their experience with you!We hope you enjoy it!
In the final show of our Fruit of the Spirit Series we wrap up by showing some self control. Pastor Kevin is back again to share his thoughts and chop it up with the Bow Tie Guy.

Summer on the Mount — Week 4: Whole Hearts | Matthew 5:21–48 Texts: Matthew 5:21–48Jesus does not just want better habits. He wants whole hearts. In Week 4 of Summer on the Mount: A Better Way to Be Human, Pastor Kevin continues through the Sermon on the Mount and teaches from Matthew 5:21–48, where Jesus talks about anger, lust, truth-telling, retaliation, and enemy love. But Jesus is not giving random commands or simply making the rules harder. He is moving beneath the surface. He is showing us that sin is not only an action problem—it is a heart-formation problem. What shows up in our lives reveals what is being formed in our hearts. This message invites us to ask a deeper question: not only “What did I do?” but “What is being formed in me?” Jesus exposes the roots beneath the action, redirects the reflexes of the Kingdom, and calls us into the wholeness of the Father. If you have been trying to manage the outside while hiding the inside, this message points to the mercy of Jesus, who comes near to restore us from the inside out.Broad River Church | Norwalk, CT Join us Sundays: 9:00 AM & 11:00 AM (English) | 1:00 PM (Español) Learn more or take your next step: https://broadriver.church/nextstepsFollow us on Instagram: @iambroadriverchurch
July 26th | Dream Disciple | Acts 2:42-47 and Ephesians 2:19-22 What does it really mean to be "plugged in" as a follower of Jesus? In this fourth message of the Dream Disciple Series, Pastor Kevin Connor explores Acts 2:42-47 and Ephesians 2:19-22 to show that discipleship was never meant to be lived in isolation. While devotion to God's Word and prayer are essential, they are designed to be practiced within the life of a local church.Discover how God created the Church to be more than just a gathering—it is a new community, a loving family, and the living temple where His Spirit dwells. Pastor Kevin unpacks why biblical discipleship requires meaningful connection with other believers and how God's presence transforms us as we worship, pray, and grow together.Whether you've been faithfully connected to a church or have found yourself drifting away, this message is a powerful reminder that following Jesus means belonging to His people. Learn why being "plugged in" isn't an optional step in the Christian life—it's part of God's design for every disciple.Do you know JESUS? https://www.nbgilmer.org/do-you-know-jesusNeed PRAYER? https://www.nbgilmer.org/praySupport through GIVING: https://www.nbbctx.org/giving

In this study of Luke 11:1-13, Pastor Kevin looks at how Jesus taught his disciples to pray, using the Lord's Prayer as a model for approaching God as a caring father rather than a distant figure. The passage shows that prayer starts with honoring God and trusting him for daily needs, forgiveness, and protection from temptation. Through the story of a persistent friend asking for bread at midnight, Jesus points out that if an ordinary person will eventually help because of sheer persistence, a loving father will do far more for his own children. Asking, seeking, and knocking become pictures of a faith that keeps reaching toward a God who is always willing and never too busy or too late to respond.

In this episode of Behind the Scenes, host Kevin Van Hall sits down with Rev. Kevin Johnson to kick off our new sermon series, Small Things, Big Impact, by exploring Jesus' parables of the mustard seed, the yeast, the hidden treasure, and the pearl of great value from Matthew 13:31-33.What if the Kingdom of God isn't primarily about grand gestures or extraordinary accomplishments? Pastor Kevin unpacks how Jesus reveals that God's work often begins in the smallest, most ordinary places and quietly transforms lives from the inside out. Together, they discuss what it means to live in God's realm here and now, why the Kingdom is worth giving everything for, and how small acts of faithfulness can have an eternal impact.Whether you're wrestling with what it means to follow Jesus in everyday life or looking for fresh insight into these familiar parables, this conversation will challenge you to see that the greatest work of God's Kingdom often starts with the smallest seeds.Scripture: Matthew 13:31-33 (with discussion of Matthew 13:44-52)Series: Small Things, Big ImpactGuest: Rev. Summer on the Mount — Week 3: Deeper Than Rule-Keeping | Matthew 5:17–20 Texts: Matthew 5:17–20What does Jesus mean when He says He came not to abolish the Law, but to fulfill it?In Week 3 of Summer on the Mount: A Better Way to Be Human, Pastor Kevin teaches from Matthew 5:17–20, one of the hinge passages in the Sermon on the Mount. Before Jesus talks about anger, lust, truth-telling, retaliation, and enemy love, He shows us how to understand His relationship to the Law and the Prophets. This message helps us avoid two opposite mistakes: lawlessness and legalism. Jesus does not lower the standard and make obedience optional, but He also does not hand us a new system of religious performance. Instead, Jesus fulfills the story, honors the Word, and forms in His people a righteousness that goes deeper than outward rule-keeping.If you have ever imagined God measuring your life with a spiritual scoreboard, this message points to better news: Jesus fulfilled what we could not fulfill, forgives what we could not fix, and gives us His Spirit to form in us the life we could never produce on our own.
