We're back! And, perhaps more importantly, so are students, at schools all around the country. And, while it's not often the first thing people think about when considering Marvel's Merry Mutants, it's important to remember that X-MEN is - ultimately - a school book itself, as the X-Men are traditionally students and teachers at Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters (or whatever it's called at the time depending which book you're reading). So we thought this was the perfect time to examine this facet of the X-books, pondering which X-Men would probably make the best teachers, what it might be like to be a student at the school, and so much more. So grab your pencils and books and join us for this special look at the academic side of the X-Men. But first, Joe has some thoughts about a recent X-death in the comics, and - in lieu of any actual footage or anything of new Fox X-MEN movies - we instead once again talk about new rumors of behind the scenes problems with the upcoming X-MEN: DARK PHOENIX, and just Fox shenanigans in general. This week Luke and Cameron DeOrdio are back for Marvel Noir Month and talking about the mysterious take on Marvel's Merry Mutants that is X-men Noir! Someone is killing sociopaths, there is talk of eugenics, and both of the hosts are a little uncomfortable about everything. Comics!
It's time True Believers! Tim and Jeremy will talk about that classic premiere pair of perfect power episodes of Marvel's X-Men series from 1992. Night of the Sentinels was a fantastic two part premiere and the Toonsters are going to talk all about this introduction to Marvel's Merry Mutants!
Did you know Bryan Singer's "X-Men" was NOT the first X-Universe movie? Perhaps rightfully forgotten, Marvel's Merry Mutants made their live-action debut back in 1996, in the FOX TV movie "Generation X," an adaptation of the then mega-popular comic series about the younger generation of future X-Men. We watched it, so you don't have to, and this week we have an in-depth discussion about this unsuccessful (on so many levels) attempt at capturing the X-Universe on film. But first, we ponder Ben Hardy's potential role in "X:Men: Apocalypse," and debut a new segment, X-Tra Stupid Question of the Week, this time speculating on which X-Man would make the best retail manager. Plus, we get ready for our upcoming Age of Apocalypse episode, by looking at the lead-in story, Legion Quest. The third episode in our series exploring the filmic adventures of Marvel characters focuses on the company's biggest comic series, The X-Men. We trace the history of Marvel's Merry Mutants from their status as the company's biggest failure to its revival under the tutelege of Chris Claremont to its position as Saturday Morning Kings and the film trilogy.
