The Milksops go over the 1982 four-issue mini series Wolverine, written by Chris Claremont and drawn by Frank Miller. This was part of Wolverine's ascendence to becoming one of the most popular characters in the Marvel Universe. Kevin was expecting a "bigger" story, something akin to what Miller would do on Batman: Year One or Daredevil: Born Again. It's not that seismic, but there's plenty of terrific Miller art and layouts in this story. There's also ninjas, Japanese culture, an expansion of the Wolverine character and world, the arrival of the assassin/would-be-love-interest Yugio and plenty of Claremont prose. The story is good, both Milksops agree, and they are glad to have read this story -- something that has been recommended to them for over 30 years! Our 2022 positional preview series continues with episode two, as 247Sports Zach Shaw and Steve Lorenz preview the Michigan football team's running backs position. The two break down their view of the Wolverines' biggest strengths, question marks and predictions for Michigan's running backs room. They open with a lengthy discussion of Michigan's versatility at running back, and how the Wolverines can leverage that to the entire offense's advantage. They then take a look at Michigan's search for a No. 3 running back who can take on a little bit of the role Hassan Haskins held last season as a bruiser back, as well as what can be expected from Edwards in 2022 after his finish to the 2021 season. They close with a look at the room's receiving capabilities and more. OK so times may be light on direct Sabres news, but thankfully the hockey world hasn't completely gone to sleep. Considering what happened at the University of Michigan and now former coach Mel Pearson, it fired up a conversation about prospect goalie and presumptive UM starter Erik Portillo. Lance and Joe discuss if Pearson's dismissal can and will affect Portillo and his status at UM and if it's a way for the Sabres to jump in and sign him to a contract to lock him in. The guys also dig into what happened with the Wolverines, how there are Sabres connections all over the place, and what would they do with goaltending within ranks if Portillo did decide to sign his entry-level deal with Buffalo now. Thanks as always for listening and thank you even more for the positive ratings and feedback. Today, The Huge Show was hosted by our amazing Michigan Sports Network counter-part, Anthony Bellino from X's and Bro's in the morning. Throughout the show, Anthony talked about the unfortunate passing of Vin Scully, he discussed Michigan and Michigan State football as Fall camp is starting up, and so much more. We kicked off the show with our friend Matt Wenzel from MLive so we could talk about Mel Tucker and the Spartans. Anthony and Matt discussed their expectations for this team and talked about all of the work that Mel has done in the Transfer Portal. Anthony opened up the second hour updating the audience on the news happening throughout the world of sports. He then moved on to talk some Michigan football as Anthony Broome from theWolverine.com joined us. The guys talked about expectations for the Wolverines this year, discussed recent news regarding the Michigan Hockey program, and more. In our final hour, Anthony talked about the passing of Vin Scully as MLB Writer Scott Miller joined us. He and Anthony reminisced about some of their favorite Vin Scully moments and talked about what a great man Vin was. Scott and Anthony also talked about the MLB Trade Deadline and all of the movement that's occurred over the past day or two. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

After a long offseason, the Michigan football team begins fall camp. And in doing so, 247Sports beat writers Zach Shaw and Steve Lorenz break down the five biggest questions they'll be watching from the Wolverines in their one-month build-up to fall camp. The two begin with a couple conversations about Michigan's defensive front. First, they look at who is going to emerge as stars, starters and key rotation players along the defensive line, both at EDGE and tackle in the wake of so many departures from last season. They then turn their attention to possibly Michigan's biggest on-paper weakness, in the linebacker room's perceived lack of depth. After those two topics, they look at a quirkier question in who will lead Michigan in receiving yards this season, debating between Erick All, Ronnie Bell, Cornelius Johnson, Roman Wilson and Andrel Anthony. In the second half of the episode, Shaw and Lorenz break down how Michigan will replace the "ugly yards" Hassan Haskins is taking with him to the NFL. They close with a discussion of Michigan's defensive backfield, and how it will juggle the nickel role as well as safety and cornerback snaps available. Learn more about your ad choices. On this episode of The College Football Survivor Show, Doug Lesmerises and Shehan Jeyarajah are discussing two more teams and whether they belong in the mix of college football playoff contenders. And then they're ranking all the playoff contenders by who has the best running backs. First, do Michigan and North Carolina State belong among the contenders? The Wolverines were a playoff team last year, but lost several defensive stars and their offensive and defensive coordinators. The Wolfpack is in the midst of one of the most successful runs in program history, and with quarterback Devin Leary and a strong, veteran defense, could a peak mean the playoff? Then it's ranking running backs, from Alabama's Jaymyr Gibbs to Ohio State's TreVeyon Henderson to Texas A&M's Devon Achane to Clemson's Will Shipley. Which contenders have the most talented top backs and deepest rooms? Thanks for listening to The College Football Survivor Show. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
The biggest storyline Wolverines fans will be following as Michigan open falls camp Wednesday is who will win the starting quarterback job, cade McNamara or JJ McCarthy? Blaine, Adam, and Donovan award the Listener of the Week, who takes the team into being international (2:30)! Then the group has very specific ideas on how to cast Wolverine in the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe adventures -- and it doesn't involve Taron Egerton (3:54). Natalie joins the crew and the four hosts discuss the recent piece by head writer Patrick Akers which posits that Adam Sandler is one of the greatest (8:31). Is he? And what's his best performance? And here's the video referenced in the talk of Sandler's very early MTV days, pre-SNL. After a break, Donovan and Blaine dissect the many threads of the new Jordan Peele film Nope (32:50). Penn State football recruiting finished July on a down note heading into the final month before the start of the 2022 football season. The BWI Daily recruiting show is back to look back at the news about Evan Link and Stanton Ramil and to look ahead at what's next for the class of 2023. Host Greg Pickel starts with the news from Monday, which hits hard for Penn State fans. First, four-star tackle Evan Link chose Michigan in a surprise upset during his recruitment. The Gonzaga left tackle took an official visit to Penn State during June and then went silent for the rest of the month. Experts expected him to choose between Stanford and the Nittany Lions, but he ultimately ended up a Wolverine. So how did all of that go down? Recruiting insider Ryan Snyder does his best to unpack the situation from the very quiet Link. More importantly, where does Penn State go from here? Fellow offensive tackle Stanton Ramil also chose a different school, selecting Michigan State over the Nittany Lions. So with the top players off the board, Penn State once again misses on an elite-level tackle prospect. Pickel and Snyder discuss that impact and what it will take for the Nittany Lions to recover. Next, they review the Lasch Bash, Penn State's last big recruiting event of the year before game visits in the fall. They give a rundown of the names in attendance but also which high-level players didn't show up for the weekend. Snyder and Pickel discuss what caused four-star defensive end, Jalen Thompson, not to attend the event this past weekend. Which players are left that could choose Penn State in August? Snyder points to Kaveion Keys, Carmelo Taylor, and Thompson as three players who will make a decision this month. Finally, Snyder and Pickel discuss Penn State's quarterback situation in 2023. The team hosted three-star passer Jaxon Smolik on Friday for their final camp of the summer. How did he do? Snyder gives his intel on how Penn State felt about his performance and whether or not he's the lead candidate to replace Marcus Stokes, who flipped to Florida at the beginning of the month. The time has come for Rogue and Domino to break up in "Battle Lines," another heart-breaking banger of an episode from Wolverine and the X-Men. If only they were all this good! Maddy sides with Magneto (as usual) on this week's episode, while Ryan deals with his disappointment over his boyfriend Logan's behavior on this show. It's weird to see Wolverine so flustered and out of his depth. Meanwhile, Cyclops is kinda cool now?? The visit to Mr. Sinister's lab put a rebel streak in Scott, and we gotta admit, we like it. This is one helluva Jaw-some episode - It's the first of many puns in this hilarious ep with our good friend Sam Cripps. He takes us through his love for the 90s juggernaut Street Sharks. From the iconic packaging, the pun-tastic names, the 90s fashion and of course what could have been with unreleased greatness. As part of his research Ben stumbles upon some seriously obscure spin-offs and the price tag will shock you. Then it's off to New Asgard as we take a look at the latest MCU entry with Thor Love and Thunder!
