When you read The Viper, the new Zig and Nola novel from Brad Meltzer, it doesn't take long to see how comics inform the author's creativity. As he says during our conversation, “It's Superman and Batman. It's Spider-Man and Wolverine.” Meltzer grew up a comic book kid, and the ideas he found in Marvel Comics and DC Comics remain at the forefront of his imagination. It's been a minute since he's played in our favorite medium, having written stellar runs on Green Arrow and Justice League of America, and we can never forget the monumental event that was Identity Crisis. However, he's never been far from comics, and it's evident to anyone who's experienced his Ordinary People Change the World series with Chris Eliopoulos and his novels. The Viper, released this week from William Morrow, is Meltzer's return to the thriller. It's a zippy, twisty narrative about a dying man who delivers his suit to the funeral home tasked with handling his body, shortly before he's murdered, advancing his earthly exit. The death quickly reunites Meltzer's heroes from The Lightning Rod and The Escape Artist, Zig and Nola, his Superman and Batman, and plunges them into a conspiracy with ties to Nola's past. We got a lot from The Viper, and we bring it all to Brad Melzer on this week's podcast. We discuss his life as a comic book kid, how he can't escape comics, and what he might have on the horizon in terms of the four-color medium. Yes, his Ghost Machine collaboration with Geoff Johns and Gene Ha is coming, but there seems to be something else, too. We try to tease the news out of him. Make sure you head to your local bookstore to get your copy of The Viper, and follow Brad Melzer on Instagram and Bluesky. In this episode of the Acceptable Accuracy Podcast, Philip and Tyler are joined by Casey and Jeff to recap their experience at the Wolverine 5K Winter Skirmish, a cold-weather test of shooting, movement, and decision-making. We break down what the Winter Skirmish is, how it differs from the summer version, and how winter conditions turn gear, pacing, and mindset into real challenges. From gear that worked to equipment failures, hard lessons learned, and honest recommendations for anyone considering an event like this, this episode delivers practical takeaways, shared suffering, and a reminder that sometimes the best training happens when things are uncomfortable.
In this episode, Shelby and Laura A24's newest love triangle rom-com 'Eternity' starring Elizabeth Olsen. Shelby and Laura debate who they would choose, why the obvious choice is Callum Turner's Luke, whether Miles Teller is a hearthrob, and which eternity they would choose. Every Day Is Saturday Podcast For Motivation, Inspiration And Success
Join the discussion here: https://www.skool.com/everydayissaturday Most people think waking up at 3:30 a.m. is about motivation, discipline, or chasing some kind of extreme fitness goal. It's not. This episode isn't about getting a “Wolverine body.” It's not about weight loss. And it's definitely not about looking good in photos. It's about fear—the right kind of fear.Years ago, I led a small group where everyone was over the age of 70. Some walked with canes. Some needed help getting up stairs. Others needed help standing up from a chair. Good people. Sharp minds. But their bodies had quietly betrayed them. Then there's my mom—who suffered a stroke in her late 50s and lost her health far earlier than anyone expected. Those images never left me. In October of 2025, something snapped. Not in a dramatic way—but in a permanent one. I realized my “why” wasn't a slogan or a bumper-sticker phrase. It was a body-rattling vision of a future I refuse to live in. This episode is about: Why clichés about “finding your why” don't work The emotional moment that changed how I view aging and health Why strength, mobility, and discipline matter more than aesthetics And the one future I'm training every day to avoid: becoming dependent on a system designed to manage decline, not prevent it If you're over 40 and starting to feel the quiet cost of inaction…If you've seen what happens when health disappears…Or if you're searching for a reason that actually pulls you forward— This episode is for you. Michigan head coach Kyle Whittingham and Rich chronicle the timeline of him stepping down at Utah to taking the vacant Wolverines' job in the wake of Sherrone Moore's scandalous exit from Ann Arbor, the importance of keeping starting QB Bryce Underwood in the UM program, how much he's learned about Michigan football tradition, and being teammates with Suge Knight on the 1987 Rams team during the NFL strike. Rich and the guys discuss Tua Tagovailoa's uncertain future with the Miami Dolphins, the New York Giants' next head coach hire, and the New York Jets' long tradition of not being very good at football. Rich has some words of advice for Packers fans who want head coach Mike LaFleur fired if Green Bay has an early exit from the playoffs. Learn more about your ad choices. What if superhero movies stopped telling us how heroes began—and just let them be heroes? In this Moving Panels: One Shot, Laramy Wells and cohost Justin Baker take a nerdy deep dive into the evolution of the superhero origin story, from the simple, efficient beginnings of Golden Age comics to modern movies that skip origins altogether. Why do some characters need their beginnings retold every generation, while others can jump straight into the action? We talk about how comic book storytelling shaped the way films approach origins, why audiences may be experiencing origin fatigue, and which characters—like Batman, Spider-Man, Wolverine, and more—can carry a movie without their origin ever being shown. If you've ever thought, “Yeah, I know how this hero got their powers—can we move on?”… this episode is for you.

In this episode of Xbox Expansion Pass, we reflect on our favorite games of 2025 and what they reveal about where the industry is headed in 2026. We break down why smaller and mid-budget games like Arc Raiders, Avowed, Grounded 2, and South of Midnight connected so strongly, while the traditional AAA model continues to strain under rising budgets, longer development cycles, and higher price points. We also discuss the growing frustration around hardware costs, $80 games, and why many players simply want games that “just work.” Plus, we share our most anticipated games of 2026—including Gears of War: E-Day, Fable, Wolverine, and GTA 6—and answer community questions about emotional storytelling, digital libraries, and the future of gaming ecosystems. We're back from our one-week hiatus to get you ready for Ohio State against Miami in the Cotton Bowl Classic. The Buckeyes and Hurricanes figure to be one of the better matchups in the quarterfinals, and it should be an interesting game. Before we get into our preview, we discuss the latest Ohio State players to have their black helmet stripes removed. Practices between the end of the regular season and the bowls is always vital, and so it was for linebacker Eli Lee and tight end Brody Lennon, who both became “official” Buckeyes just two days before Christmas. That's a pretty cool gift from Santa. Following our OSU camp news, we dive into Michigan's hiring of former Utah coach Kyle Whittingham. As far as trying to erase the stench of the scandal-filled Jim Harbaugh and Sherrone Moore years, that school up north could hardly have found a better candidate to lead the football team in the right way. Whittingham's teams are always hard-nosed, physical teams that run the ball and play sound defense. That said, will he be a good fit in the midwest? He hasn't exactly moved around as a head coach, so it will be interesting to see how he adapts to Ann Arbor (and how the Wolverines adapt to him). Urban Meyer now has branches of his coaching tree on both sides of the greatest rivalry in college football. Finally, we go into a lengthy discussion of the Miami Hurricanes, who will present some challenges for Ohio State, especially when the Buckeyes have the ball. Indiana sacked Julian Sayin five times, and the Hurricanes' strength is on the defensive line, so the slobs up front for Ohio State will have their work cut out for them.We talked briefly about Miami's win at Texas A&M, broke down many of the key players Buckeye fans should watch out for, and discussed the critical matchups. We also provide our Ohio State player picks to click and tried our hand at predicting the final score of the Cotton Bowl. We'll be back next week to see how we — and the Buckeyes — made out. We would love to hear from you, so please reach out with your feedback and questions below in the comments section or send us an email at SilverBulletsPod@gmail.com Any questions directed toward us will be answered on our next show.Be sure to subscribe, rate, review, share, and follow the show over on Twitter at @SilvrBulletsPod.As always, thanks for listening! 0:20 - Buckeye black stripe removals and Michigan has a new coach. 15:15 - Our lengthy look ahead to Wednesday night's showdown with Miami in the Cotton Bowl

As usual, we've each selected five choices for 15 total, and they touch on topics like the first concrete rumors surrounding PlayStation 6, Helldivers 2's surprise migration to Xbox as Microsoft itself brings its whole slate of games to PS5, multiple Grand Theft Auto VI delays, the reemergence of Insomniac's Wolverine, Hermen Hulst's sudden demotion, Sony suing Tencent over the blatant Horizon ripoff Light of Motiram, and much more. Read transcriptListen up, mutation enthusiasts and multi-platform adventurers, because this week on Play Comics we're strapping on our Kevlar suits and diving straight into the bewildering, beast-infested, cross-console chaos of X-Men: The Official Game! We're talking about the 2006 game that launched on practically every system known to mankind (GBA, GameCube, Nintendo DS, PS2, Xbox, and Xbox 360. Seriously, did they forget a platform?), which based the story nominally on the third X-Men film from Fox. You know, the one that showed us what happens when Professor Xavier and Magneto finally decided to outsource their beef settlement to a video game developer. This particular romp through Marvel's merry mutant universe was brought to you by the folks who looked at a film featuring Wolverine, Nightcrawler, and Iceman and thought, “What if we made this game SLIGHTLY different on each platform?” It's like they were challenged to see just how elastic the definition of ‘the same game' could be, and frankly, the results are beautifully inconsistent. The story was co-written by Chris Claremont (yes, THAT Chris Claremont) and Zak Penn, and it featured voice acting from the actual film cast, which means you got Hugh Jackman's growl in your living room, your handheld, and probably also your neighbors' living rooms at 2 AM. Joining us to make sense of this portable and stationary pandemonium is none other than Alex Zalben from Comic Book Club, a weekly live talk show about comics that's been running since 2006, performed at every major comic convention you can think of, written up in the New York Times more than once, and hosted literally hundreds of guests with more swagger than most podcasts muster in a lifetime. Alex is a writer, editor, and podcaster who knows his way around both four-color storytelling and video game adaptations, making him the perfect guide to help us determine whether this cross-generational, cross-console adventure managed to capture what makes the X-Men actually work, or if it just made us wish we could teleport away from our screens. So sync up your Danger Room protocols, pick your favorite handheld or home console, and get ready for an episode that's guaranteed to be more chaotic than a Sentinel factory explosion and infinitely more confusing than trying to figure out why THIS game exists on THAT console! Learn such things as: Who thought it was a good idea to put this on so many consoles? Is it possible to get that team feeling when you're playing solo? Is it better to look at this game as a sequel to the 2nd movie, or a prequel to the 3rd movie? And so much more! You can find Alex on YouTube @ComicBookClub and of course Comic Book Club Live.
