Daarnaast hebben we trailers van Netflix' SENNA, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes en Mufasa: The Lion King trailer. ------ Spotify ► https://spoti.fi/2qhR6lr Apple Podcast ► https://apple.co/3GzfqqD Twitter ► https://www.twitter.com/NerdCulturePC Instagram ► https://www.instagram.com/NerdCulture.PC Jelle ► https://www.twitter.com/GKJelle Huey ► https://www.twitter.com/RealHueyBrown Koos ► https://www.twitter.com/jtmooten Outro by Studio Megaane
Cade and Jordan head back into the Marvel vault to visit Professor Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters. New heroes, new powers, but old special effects (which are kinda good?). Enroll with us as we prepare for Deadpool and his spikey-metal-clawed friend.
Hoo boy those new X-Men ['97] sure are competent superheroes and also universally sexy. Pretty much the opposite of that are the 3 of us dweebs standing in the shadows who all somehow also made the cut and got accepted into Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters despite having superpowers or eshewing raw bisexual energy. Matt shows his super-expertise with common household appliances, Andrew illustrates his super-ability to read a room, and Todd slip-slides around via his super-undiagnosed hyperhidrosis. Oh no, in a weird twist of fate Johnny Allspikes is shooting spikes from all over his body and that young boy has turned into a ham dinner! Best send them off to that school that deals with this kind of thing. Sure Charles Xavier (who we're pretty sure is a professor) might be able to help them with their mutant powers or whatever, but can he give them a good education? We delve into past teachers at the academy, offer alternative teaching methods and really focus in on the Mathlympics. All we know is that come graduation day we're going to be sweating bullets (metaphorically and for some of us maybe literally) as we look off into the horizon in anticipation of some kind of sentinel, friend of humanity, bad mutant or us from the future to come over and ruin our day. The latest episode of the Squawka Talker podcast looks at Xavi's plans for Barcelona in 2022 as the La Masia production line whirrs back into action Host Feargal Brennan is joined by Squawka's chief football writer Muhammad Butt and Barcelona-based La Liga writer and broadcaster Rik Sharma, to discuss the role of La Masia in Xavi's new-look Barcelona side and how he intends to remodel the Catalan giants. The former Spanish international is blessed with the strongest crop of young talent at the club in over a decade with Ansu Fati and Pedri joined by Gavi, Nico Gonzalez, Abde Ezzalzouli and others since the start of 2021/22. Despite the positivity of youth, Xavi faces a conundrum over his experienced stars - and former teammates - in the coming months with big decisions to be made on Jordi Alba, Sergio Busquets and Gerard Pique. The guys also look at Xavi transfer plans in 2022, with departures expected in January, as he aims to reignite the fire of excellence at the Camp Nou.
A X-men comic book might start out something like this: Script: Our world is fragmented and on the brink of one crisis after another. We believe we are alone but there are more of us than we know. “Heed this warning: the gods only ask one thing- that we don't forget them.” Frame: The hero/ine (unbeknownst to the soul) waits to be transformed…through mutation. (The hero/ine enters the comic shop) Jeff Kripal is a professor of religion at Rice University and the associate director of the Center for Theory and Research at Esalen. He is the author of such books as Esalen: America and the Religion of No Religion, Mutants and Mystics and the Flip. Celebrator of the humanities and chronicler of the human potential movement, Jeff's work champions some of my favorite subjects: the metanormal and explorations of consciousness. In my dreams, comic book shops always symbolize something like Tatooine's Cantina scene: launching points for magical adventures. For me, the comic shop is a symbol that releases the psychic energy of magic, as Kripal might say. I wanted to be a comic book artist/writer when I was a tween. I set out to write my own comics but I became conscious of the fact I had no stories to tell at that age. Maybe, this is when I set out to live my own adventures. Jeff tells us that there is no place for the modern ordinary mystic in our culture with our present worldview. Luckily, comics can still act as a place of refuge for the extraordinary. Take the X-Men, for example. The X-men are mutants: humans with superhuman abilities. Like the X-men's School for Gifted Youngsters, Esalen has served as a home for some of the greatest psychonauts of the last 60 years. Esalen Jeff's book on Esalen chronicles the lineage of the human potential movement. For fans like myself, many of these folks are superheroes (my superhero mutants): Maslow, Campbell, Tarnas, Leonard, Murphy, etc. Uncanny indeed! Kripal follows in their ginormous footsteps. How many of us are conscious that we are conscious at this very moment? And if you are with me this far: how many of us are there out there? Authorization is a metatheme Kripal writes about in Mutants and Mystics. It is when we realize we are co-authors of this super-story and “involves the act of writing the paranormal writing us”. The human race is in trouble. Let's hope there are Mutants out there to help us. It was an honor and joy to discuss this subject matter with one of the leading scholars in the field. Please enjoy my conversation with Jeff Kripal.

Intro Background (1:25) Emma Frost created by Chris Claremont and John Byrne in X-Men #129 (Jan. 1980) Emma Frost born to a wealthy family in Boston, who had lived in the area since the 1600s Discovered she had telepathic abilities while in high school, but refused to join the Xavier Institute, and when her manipulative father chose her as his heir, she opted to leave and make her own way After attempting to seduce her professor, her family had her sent to the Essex Clinic, where she was drugged and manipulated into attacking the X-Men by Magneto Became a stripper for the Hellfire Club, where she made Sebastian Shaw infatuated with her, ending up becoming the White Queen Also started a multinational business, Frost International, and started her own school, the Massachusetts Academy, where she recruited young mutants for her own cause Was attacked by a time traveler and was in a coma for a year - during that time, most of her students were killed - she was brought out of the coma by an energy surge that caused her consciousness to take over the body of Bobby Drake, aka Iceman #BecauseComics - when she learned what happened to her students, she had a breakdown and realized they were better off with Xavier, who was able to reestablish the connection between her body and mind Wracked with guilt, she established her school as Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters, and she & Banshee started a new team, Generation X After surviving an attack on Genosha, she discovered she had a secondary mutation: the ability to turn her skin to unbreakable diamond - she joins the Xavier Institute, and takes the Stepford Cuckoos under her wing Began a “psychic affair” with Scott Summers, who was growing apart from Jean - although Jean tore through her mind and forced her to relive all her guilty episodes from the past, she revealed to Wolverine that she truly loved Scott Beast discovered her shattered body, and the investigation revealed that Esme of the Cuckoos convinced another student to shoot her with a diamond bullet - meanwhile, Phoenix-powered Jean reassembled Emma After Jean's death, Emma & Scott begin a real relationship, and are co-headmasters of the Xavier Institute Discovered that the Stepford Cuckoos were actually her children, bred from eggs harvested by a doctor years before while she was under the control of the Essex Clinic Served as a member of the Cabal alongside Norman Osborn, Loki, Dr. Doom, Namor, and the Hood, only to betray Shaw In Avengers vs. X-Men, Emma is one of the Phoenix Five - was one of the last two, with Scott, before he was able to wrest her portion away from her, only to be killed by Xavier Inhumans vs. X-Men - after a Terrigen cloud killed Scott, Emma created a psychic projection of him destroying the cloud, after which Black Bolt “killed” the projection - a negotiated peace between the parties ended after Emma incited the X-Men to take action to save their species - Medusa destroyed the cloud, but Emma sent programmed Sentinels after the rest of the Inhumans to seek revenge for Scott's death Currently one of the leaders of Krakoa - named by Xavier & Magneto as the head of trade relations Issues (7:20) Ruby - Relationship with Scott Love for mutants, willing to sacrifice all for them regardless of personal impact (19:23) Role in Inhumans vs. X-Men, where she ultimately is revealed as the villain (27:17) Break (44:10) Plugs for BetterHelp, Popcorn Psychology, and Chris Claremont Treatment (45:26) In-universe - Focus on putting Emma in diamond form and having her work through things without her psychic abilities Out of universe - Work on establishing a rapport with her and determining how to address the various issues and trauma she's dealt with (47:46) Skit (feat. Kris of Marvelous Madames) (57:08) DOC: Hello Emma, I'm Dr. Issues. EMMA: *mentally* And we're starting off with lies. D: *mentally* Excuse me? E: That's not your name and we both know it. D: Surely, if you've read my mind, you're also aware of the multiple attempts on my life. Not to mention as a mutant you can appreciate the need for a pseudonym to maintain some level of privacy to protect loved ones. Ms. White Queen. Or is it Black Queen? Or Black King? Or Ice Princess? E: Your point is taken. Still, just know that any effort to mislead or lie to me will be swiftly shut down. I do not suffer fools. D: Nor would I expect you to. So, what did you change? E: Come again? D: I'm not gullible. Telepath or not, delving into someone's mind changes the person in some fundamental way. That's the point of therapy. You did that to me without regard for my thoughts on the matter...literally. So, I'm asking you, with all candor...what did you change? E: I'm not an amateur at this, you know. What I told you is what I sought. *pause* Judging by your facial expression, you don't believe me. D: It's fascinating. Sometimes, I mirror expressions, mime voices of those who are talking to me...it's not intentional. I've been in some awkward situations because the person thought I was mocking them. Not this time, though. And you know I'm right. Why are you so skeptical of sessions like this? E: Because those with my abilities already accomplish what you do hundred-fold, without the baggage of “small talk” getting in the way. D: Like a sentience surgeon. I'm glad you're on that path of logic, because society has determined consent to be a MAJOR hallmark of ethics in every interpersonal undertaking. E: Is that what you think I do? Mental assault? D: I'm trying to understand. No offense, but, it's clear that you know how to work a room, regardless of mutant abilities. I'm trying to figure out if it's your main coping strategy, or a backup plan. E: It's been both. D: Can you give an example of each? E: Sure. *mentally* I'll give you a glimpse of one of my best days…*unintelligble speech/sounds* and one of my worst *more unintelligible speech/sounds* So you tell me, doctor. Would you have done anything differently? D: *overwhelmed* WHOA. To be honest, I have no idea. I've been empathetic before, but that was...truly mimetic….no telemimetic...it's like you downloaded parts of your memory into my brain and I choose how to live it...this is so bizarre. *clearly in some sort of discomfort* ugh...they both involve Scott. I shouldn't be surprised. E: Is there a problem, doctor? I can assure you, I did nothing to injure your brain. D: No, not like that…*snaps fingers* THAT'S WHAT YOU CHANGED! E: Oh dear. That was too quick. I expected some sort of opportunity to talk about him at length, without all of the pretense. D: That's my CO-HOST's view, not mine. I'll gladly discuss your feelings about him without referencing *clear pain* AAAAGH! E: He's not a dick, got it?! D: Got it. The point is, he impacts every aspect of your life, and your love for him affected some...questionable choices. What can I do to help you get to the next stage of your relationship as adults? E: Why would there be a next stage? I know he's loved me. That's all I need. D: And he's loved another. And you turned his ideals into the grandest effigy I could imagine...all out of spite. E: SPITE?! No, having some mental foreplay when you least expect it may have some spite, but not when all of mutant-kind is at stake. It was us or them...and it surely wasn't going to be us. Not when we're the next evolution of the species. I'm not the damsel in distress. I'm the diamond in the rough! I can show you, too. *special effect to change form* D: Fascinating...and now, the therapy can begin. E: What does that mean? D: Before now, you had the ultimate “wisdom of the crowds” through your abilities, just picking things up about each person on a whim. Now, when you're like this, you're shut off. I don't think that's a mistake. Maybe it's a defense mechanism for you, but I see it as a chance for growth. Tell me, what do you feel right now? E: Nothing. D: Can you tell by my face what I think? E: *pause* You have the same face as when I told you I only looked at one thought in your mind...I should register that as the same, but...it's so difficult this way. D: EXACTLY. Welcome to a new way to build your schema of the world. No mind games...just good old fashioned observation, trial and error. No judgement, no scorecard, just me and you, trying to figure out human interaction. I don't expect you to stay this way, but do you realize just how magnificent your personal experiences can be if you learn how to warm up your cold side? E: There is a rationale to your style. I *pause* think...I like it? *transforms again* That is quite the challenge...definitely worthy of pursuit. Fine, your point stands. D: Wait, now I do think Scott is- E: Say it and lose yours. D: Understood. E: Thank you, my dear. Now if you'll excuse me, I must return to Krakoa. Heaven knows what Logan's gotten himself up to in the past hour. I shall return. D: When shall I - E: *mentally* Oh I'll make it clear. Good day, Doctor. For this week's installment in Femme Fatale February, imagine this: you waddled into some video store and you need to pick a movie. You want to pick something empowering to womyn, because you aren't no scrub (also known as a "busta"). In this scenario, the alphabet is different and you see two options side by side, Teeth and Frankenhooker. Which do you choose? Teeth was written and directed by Mitchell Lichtenstein. It features Jess Weixler as Dawn O'Keefe, who just happens to have a Gilgamek vagina from South Park... y'know, lined with teeth. Weixler recently wrote and starred in Fully Realized Humans. Please see it and report back, because it seems to be a really interesting character study. Rather than ending up in Charles Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters, this poor girl just goes to Jesus parties and talks about abstinence. We didn't talk about this on the show, but I am dying to know what you think her X-Man-- X-Woman? Aha! X-Person name would be. Let us know at slasherspod@gmail.com. Best submissions will get read on next week's episode. She is repeatedly victimized by the men in her life, though refreshingly not the one guy you would expect if you've ever seen a horror movie before. The main antagonist in the film is John Hensley as Brad. You may recall he was in Nip/ Tuck. Remember when that show was kinda like a thriller and then it just became gross and sad? Anyway, his mutation is being (and not having) a massive dick-- which you get to see onscreen! ...albeit mangled and bleeding. The other choice is Frankenhooker. I know, you are probably rolling your eyes, but let's have a candid discussion about it. This film was "written" by Bob Martin and Frank Henenlotter. I say "written," because Henenlotter has basically admitted that this movie had very little in terms of a script, yet somehow it provides pretty timeless social commentary and has structural elements like callbacks. You may know Henenlotter from the Basket Case trilogy. He is also a renowned cinema historian. If you are a fan of this show, please consider checking him out. He has some great interviews and can talk everything from pulp exploitation films to b-movie creature features. Frankenhooker stars James Lorinz as Jeffrey Franken. He is an electroengineer, blessed and cursed with brilliance, and seemingly doused in rotten luck. His fiancee, played by Patty Mullen, is Elizabeth Shelley/ the TITular Frankenhooker (see what I did there?). Sadly, her onscreen career was very short, with her only other film being Doom Asylum. She was a Penthouse playmate of the month and year though, so that's cool. When tragedy befalls Elizabeth, Jeffrey exploits working women, trying to harvest their parts to reconstruct the love of his life. Truly, a romantic masterpiece. Which is better? Which is more fun to watch? Which is more empowering to women? Which should you rent in this scenario? Listen, and find out! So what happened to the body of Jesus after his death on the cross? According to the New Testament Gospels, his body was buried in a tomb and raised on the third day. And yet, according to some scholars, the body of Jesus was abandoned and consumed by wild beasts. How can we know that Jesus was actually buried? What was the meaning of the cross in the ancient world? And what does this mean for the ways that Christians understand the crucifixion today? In the second half, Timothy and Garrick go searching for truth in a song that Jimi Hendrix played at Woodstock and discover a yearning for justice that God has placed in every human heart. Then, we'll reach inside the Infinity Gauntlet and pit Charles Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters against Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. What Questions Do We Discuss in this Episode? 1. How did people in the ancient world perceive the practice of crucifixion? 2. Pastors and Bible teachers sometimes compare crucifixion in the ancient world to the electric chair today. What works in this analogy and what doesn’t? 3. According to the New Testament Gospels, the body of Jesus was buried in a tomb and raised on the third day. And yet, John Dominic Crossan and some other scholars claim that the body of Jesus was left on the cross or thrown in a communal grave to be consumed by animals. What is the evidence for Crossan's claim? 4. How do the perceptions and practices of crucifixion in the ancient world support what we read in the New Testament Gospels? What Resources Do We Recommend? If you want to dig deeper, one great place to start is Reasons for Our Hope by H. Wayne House and Dennis Jowers. To download a sample chapter, visit http://www.bhacademic.com * James Cone, The Cross and the Lynching Tree. If you are interested in earning a master's degree online or on campus that will equip you with the most comprehensive apologetics training available anywhere, go to http://www.sbts.edu/bgs/degree-programs/mdiv/apologetics/ What Are We Discussing in the Next Episode? Atheist Richard Dawkins has defined faith as “a state of mind that leads people to believe something—it doesn’t matter what—in the total absence of supporting evidence.” But is the evidence for Christian faith really that weak? In the next episode, Timothy and Garrick explore historical evidences for the resurrection of Jesus Christ; then, in the second half of the show, they take a look at the theology of “Spirit in the Sky” by Norman Greenbaum. According to bestselling biblical scholar Bart Ehrman, the New Testament Gospels “were not written … by people who were eyewitnesses, but by people living later.” Many of the stories about Jesus were—as Ehrman sees it—fabricated in the context of early Christian communities. Ehrman goes on to say that “sometimes Christian apologists say there are only three options to who Jesus was: a liar, a lunatic, or the Lord. But there could be a fourth option—legend.” And legend is the possibility for which Ehrman argues. But is it true that the circulation of stories by word of mouth necessarily results in changes that turn testimony into legend? That’s the dilemma that Timothy Paul Jones and Garrick Bailey discuss with New Testament scholar Jonathan Pennington on the Three Chords segment of the show. Then, in the second half of the program, Garrick and Timothy go looking for God’s truth in Jimi Hendrix’s cover of Bob Dylan’s “All Along the Watchtower.” This week’s encounter with the ever-dangerous Infinity Gauntlet pits Thanos with the Infinity Stones against Sauron with the One Ring. What Questions Do We Discuss in this Episode? 1. What is eyewitness testimony and why does it matter to Christians? 2. How much does it really matter whether any of the claims in the Gospels can be traced back to eyewitness testimonies of truth? 3. According to Richard Bauckham, the Jesus traditions that we find in the New Testament Gospels originated with known and named witnesses that Christians in the first century knew personally. How should this shape the way that we read and receive the Gospels? What Resources Do We Recommend? If you want to dig deeper, one great place to start is Reasons for Our Hope by H. This week, things get pretty X-ceptional in the Fortress of Poditude. We head to Professor Charles Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters (get a shorter name) and learn about some mutants! It might be hard to believe the X-Men movie has X-isted for 19 years, so we X-amine how well it's aged. *X-Men® and its associated titles, logos, and characters are registered trademarks of Marvel Entertainment LLC. This week on The Marvelists, Peter and Eddie conclude their stay at Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters with a discussion of 2006's X-Men: The Last Stand. Often criticized for its loose adaptation of the Dark Phoenix Saga (to the point it's getting retold in 2019's X-Men Dark Phoenix film), the guys give their thoughts on the much criticized film. X-Men: The Last Stand is directed by Brett Ratner and stars Patrick Stewart, Hugh Jackman, Ian McKellen, Halle Berry, Famke Janssen, James Marsden, Rebecca Romijn-Stamos, Anna Paquin, Kelsey Grammer, Shawn Ashmore, Aaron Stanford, Vinnie Jones, and Ellen Page. Magma is welcomed to Xaviers School for Gifted Youngsters. A barbeque erupts into choas when teenage stuns go too far. Kitty and Doug hack the US Government! Kitty rumbles with the New Mutants and everyone gets a lesson in responsibility from Professor X... I know right. In honor of the 227th episode of the Worst. Comic. Podcast. EVER!, we spotlight the legendary career of actress Marla Gibbs, star of the 1980s TV comedy 227. From IMDb, "Armed with an acid dry wit and a full arsenal of sarcasm and sass, African-American character comedienne Marla Gibbs showed up on 70s TV with a bang in middle age (44). Landing the feisty maid role on the popular ground-breaking CBS comedy, The Jeffersons (1975), eventually led to her very own sitcom, 227 (1985), a decade later and international celebrity. A divorced mother with three children (Angela Elayne Gibbs, Dorian, Joseph) at the time of her initial success, it was a job transfer from Detroit to Los Angeles, while working as a United Airlines reservation clerk, that set up this more-than-welcome surprise and change of destiny." In addition to our career retrospective of Marla Gibbs, we take time to discuss: The first episode of Titans has hit the DC Universe streaming service. We have all watched the first episode, and are ready to share our opinions of what works (or doesn't) for this new take on the Titans legacy. With the focus on Titans, DC is introducing a new storyline in the pages of Nightwing that involves an identity change. Is this the best time for Dick to become Ric? We have our weekly Pick 3 of new books coming out next Wednesday? This week features one book from Archie Comics, and two books from DC Comics. Can you guess who made the Archie Comics pick? What's in the box? The new package of books has arrived from DCBS, and we crack it open to reveal what Jerry and John picked up for the first two weeks of October. We finish it up with some teasing talk about artist John Byrne possibly returning to Xavier's Academy for Gifted Youngsters to chronicle the continuing adventures of the X-Men. Color us interested! We would love to hear your comments on the show. Let us know what you've been reading or watching this week. Contact us on our website, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, or by email. This week on The Marvelists, Peter and Eddie continue another semester at Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters as they talk about 2003's X2. Considered to be one of the greatest comic book sequels as well as comic book movies in general, the film borrows heavily from the iconic Claremont story “God Loves, Man Kills.” Does it still hold up over 15 years later? Peter and Eddie will be the judge of that. X2 is directed by Bryan Singer and stars Patrick Stewart, Hugh Jackman, Ian McKellen, Halle Berry, Famke Janssen, James Marsden, Rebecca Romijn-Stamos, Brian Cox, Alan Cumming, Bruce Davison, and Anna Paquin. Next episode: X-Men: The Last Stand (2006) On top of all of that, we are joined with Arrow show runner and current X-Men Gold writer, Marc Guggenheim. Topics include his work on the X-titles, Spider-Man, as well what he thinks the future of Blade should be. This week on The Marvelists, Peter and Eddie enroll at Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters. That's right, they're talking about 2000's film, X-Men. Born in a society that doesn't trust or respect them, the X-Men must rights the wrongs no matter what. X-Men is directed by Bryan Singer and stars Patrick Stewart, Hugh Jackman, Ian McKellen, Halle Berry, Famke Janssen, James Marsden, Bruce Davison, Rebecca Romijn-Stamos, Ray Park, and Anna Paquin. We're back! And, perhaps more importantly, so are students, at schools all around the country. And, while it's not often the first thing people think about when considering Marvel's Merry Mutants, it's important to remember that X-MEN is - ultimately - a school book itself, as the X-Men are traditionally students and teachers at Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters (or whatever it's called at the time depending which book you're reading). So we thought this was the perfect time to examine this facet of the X-books, pondering which X-Men would probably make the best teachers, what it might be like to be a student at the school, and so much more. So grab your pencils and books and join us for this special look at the academic side of the X-Men. But first, Joe has some thoughts about a recent X-death in the comics, and - in lieu of any actual footage or anything of new Fox X-MEN movies - we instead once again talk about new rumors of behind the scenes problems with the upcoming X-MEN: DARK PHOENIX, and just Fox shenanigans in general. Our intrepid hosts return to Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters and meet the world's first mutant in Bryan Singer's "X-Men: Apocalypse."
This entry in the retro X-Men series finds the mutants in the series-alternate universe year of 1983, ten years after the events of Days of Future Past, where the cold war is rampant between the United States and the Soviet Union, with most people already worried about being on the brink of annihilation of life on Earth within just a few hours if nuclear war should ever break out. Erik Lehnsherr, aka Magneto, is living as a closeted mutant to keep his family safe, working as a metal worker in Poland with a loving wife and daughter. Professor Charles Xavier is at the mansion that serves as the School for Gifted Youngsters (aka, mutants confronting who they are and learning to control their powers). Both have their home worlds rocked in tragedy. And Mystique spends her time traveling to the four corners of the Earth in order to liberate mutants wherever she can, such as the German teleporter, Nightcrawler. The mutants begin to fight amongst each other yet again when the world's first mutant, the powers-absorbing En Sabah Nur, aka Apocalypse, is resurrected from his dormant state since 3600 B.C., wastes no time in hatching a plan to lay conquest to the entire planet. He sets about pulling together powerful mutant accomplices, dubbed his Four Horsemen, in an effort to bring humanity under their rule, after threatening them with nuclear annihilation. Now it's up to Xavier, Mystique, Beast, and a band of untested gifted students to fight for the right of people who want their kind destroyed from being crushed under the rule of these mad mutants.
Strap on your Omnitrix, contact the Legion of Superheros and head with us to Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters. Before there was X-Men...there was Generation X! For fans of the X-Men who had grown up watching the cartoon and reading the comics there would be a long wait, until 2000, for the X-Men to grace the silver screen in a big budget epic, but first in 1996 FOX aired the TV movie Generation X, a pilot for a TV series that never happened. Based on X-Men spin-off comic of the same name, Generation X sees a new group of superpowered teen mutants attending Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters, here run by Emma Frost and Banshee, both featured characters in this summer's X-Men First Class! Starring Matt "Max Headroom" Frewer as the evil dream manipulating scientist Russel Tresh, is this inauspicious start for the X-Men something all fans should track down, or is it best forgotten like a bad dream? Listen to find out!
