Anger? Disappointment? Frustration? Not your typical festive feelings, but Mike & Terra tie them all up in a playful bow with MAD AT SANTA - an upbeat, lighthearted holiday track with a noted sassy twist. Featuring smooth, rich vocals and a dash of jazz, MAD AT SANTA brims over with tongue-in-cheek yuletide complaints from two spurned lovers whose singular holiday wish to be together has been overlooked by Ol' St. Nick. MAD AT SANTA offers a nod to classic Christmas duets of yesteryear with vintage warmth and clever, pithy lyrics. Destined to become an evergreen holiday earworm! Upon confirming their plans for a series of 2023 holiday shows, Biggar and Spencer saw the perfect chance to collaborate on a fun new yuletide song mingling their writing skills, commitment to top-notch musicality and penchants for humour in song. MAD AT SANTA ticks all the boxes like a Christmas gift list and bodes well for the good times in store for those who join them in their holiday tour revelry. MIKE BIGGAR is a natural live performer, baptized in a gospel music upbringing. His onstage style is equal parts gutsy and joyful. Soulful, powerhouse vocals pair with infectious melodies and his disarming humour. He tours regularly and has earned numerous awards from both the East Coast Music Association and Music NB, including ‘Blues Album of the Year', ‘Inspirational Album of the Year' for his beloved holiday album The Season, and more. TERRA SPENCER is known for charming audiences across the country and beyond with her deft guitar, gospel piano, butterscotch voice and sly humour wrapped in a disarming warmth. Join us for this special Christmas episode of In The Country featuring Country artists Riki Knox, Mike Biggar & RyLee Madison. Each of them has a Christmas song to share. A true performer, Riki has been described by her audiences as charismatic and highly entertaining. Whether she’s getting people up on their feet dancing, or engaging them with the strength of her original songs, Riki has a knack for drawing in the crowd and creating an unforgettable musical experience. She’s a girl who values and appreciates the ‘little things in life’. That grounded mindset has seen her go from playing church and charity events, to sharing the big stage with artists like Dallas Smith, Marc Jordan, Carole Pope, Jack DeKeyzer & Justin Hines to name a few. Mike is an award-winning Country-Rock artist from Canada’s East Coast. His infectious melodies are well-spiced with lyrics of life, love, and loss. Powerful, punchy anthems with generous helpings of clever hooks and smart writing sit opposite intimate, tender ballads. Soaring vocals, honest lyrics and keenly focused performance energy concoct a compelling musical potion that makes instant fans of those who listen. Born and raised in Halifax, Nova Scotia, RyLee's music may have carried her to Nashville, but her hometown always plays an important role. RyLee says, "Nashville is my second home. I've created family here with my husband and friends but my first home will always be Nova Scotia." RyLee has traveled to Europe, performing at Festival Country Rendez-Vous in France, Whelan's Pub in Dublin, Ireland, Half Moon in Cork, Ireland, and Róisín Dubh Pub in Galway, Ireland and at the famed Bluebird Cafe in Nashville.
MIKE BIGGAR is an award-winning Country-Rock artist from Canada’s East Coast. His infectious melodies are married to lyrics of life, love, and loss. Powerful, punchy anthems with generous helpings of clever hooks and smart writing sit opposite intimate, tender ballads. Mike's soulful voice expresses a genuine vulnerability and draws listeners into his critically-acclaimed song writing. A veteran winner of both Music New Brunswick (2011) and East Coast Music Association (2012) awards, Mike was signed to Busted Flat Records in 2012 for national promotion and distribution of his latest album Feels Like Now. He was a national finalist in the 2013 CCMA FanFest Performance Contest and was recently named a 2013 semi-finalist in the prestigious, global International Songwriting Competition. Feels Like Now features a collection of original songs that fire on all artistic cylinders, including strong co-writes with Grammy-nominated, Canadian Country Music star and fellow New Brunswicker Chris Cummings, and B.C. Country Music Hall of Fame member and Nashville writer extraordinaire - the late Larry Wayne Clark. The first single Lucky Stars (Biggar/Cummings) features Chris in a guest duet vocal, and the song debuted in the top 100 on the Nielsen BDS Canadian Country radio charts ‘out of the box’, ahead of its commercial release. In 2012, Mike and Larry Wayne Clark’s soul-searching co-write Longing For Home was shortlisted with iconic CURB Records in Nashville to be recorded by country superstar Wynona Judd, further proving Mike Biggar’s capacity as a country music writer destined to be heard.
