We are experts at making our emotions much worse than they really are. You might feel stressed, and within a few seconds it becomes “I can't handle this.” You feel overwhelmed, and suddenly it's “this is too much.” You feel stuck or frustrated, and your mind goes to “this is never going to change.” In those moments, it doesn't feel like a thought. It feels true. It's not just that you're feeling something uncomfortable. It's that the feeling turns into a conclusion about your life. Stress turns into “I can't handle this.” Frustration turns into “this will never change.” Discomfort turns into “I need this to stop.” Once that happens, it changes how you experience everything. It changes how you think, feel, and what you want to do next. So in this episode, we're going to break down why that happens. Why emotions don't just stay as emotions, why your brain turns them into meaning, and why that can make you feel trapped, overwhelmed, or hopeless, even when the situation itself hasn't actually changed. This segment bounces from Yankees future talk to a heated Knicks debate, blending sports analysis with the kind of off-the-rails humor that keeps the conversation moving. The crew reacts to Jorge Posada's candid comments about coaching, wonders whether Francisco Cervelli could someday be a real Aaron Boone replacement, and digs into how much of the Yankees' direction really comes down to Boone versus Brian Cashman. The second half zeroes in on Mikal Bridges and the question hanging over the Knicks: should Mike Brown sit him to snap his slump, even if it ends his consecutive games streak? The discussion weighs performance, fatigue, team priorities, and player pride, before spiraling into a hilarious detour about NBA iron-man streaks, A.C. Green, and far more personal oversharing than anyone probably expected.

The episode also dives into the internal Republican showdown, the SAFE Act, and how House and Senate dynamics are shaping efforts to reclaim control over election integrity and government appointments.

What if the most important relationship in your business isn't with your biggest client but with the person sitting right next to you in the leadership seat? In this episode, Clayton Stenson shares how 17 years of working alongside visionary entrepreneurs became the foundation for his life's work: helping Visionary/Integrator duos build healthier partnerships so their companies can scale without costing them their families or their sanity. Clayton is the founder of Unity Guides, a fractional integrator, and a coach who has spent the last four years helping visionary entrepreneurs and their second-in-command learn to understand each other, communicate better, and stop the quiet resentment that ends partnerships and careers. He also spent seven years as a pastor, giving him a front-row seat to the human side of leadership: the pride, the blind spots, and the breakthroughs. Clayton honors four people who shaped his journey: the church pastor-turned-visionary who gave him his first leadership opportunity and introduced him to faith; the second visionary who handed him the book Traction and trusted him to run a company; and two long-time friends, James and Dwayne, who showed up as sounding boards, believers, and emergency intervention callers whenever Clayton was about to walk away from everything he had built. [00:02:37] Fractional Integrator and V/I Duo Coach Does two things: fractional integrator/COO for EOS companies at $5-20M revenue Coaches visionary entrepreneurs and their second-in-command on their working relationship Runs webinars, workshops, and programs to help the V/I Duo work better together Eight years in the integrator role; four years coaching the V/I relationship [00:04:28] How Clayton Got Into This Work Never went to school for business; has a phys ed degree Fell into an integrator-type role naturally by solving whatever the organization needed Kept getting more responsibility and influence as he solved structural and operational problems Second visionary handed him the book Traction and formally gave him the integrator seat [00:06:43] Took a Company From 0.2% to 4.4% Profitability Company was $8M revenue, 20 employees, just 0.2% profitable Promoted to integrator and began self-implementing EOS Within 12 months improved profitability to 4.4%, a strong benchmark in commercial construction Zero turnover during the transition; people engaged and excited for the changes [00:08:34] What Drives Clayton Most Spent seven years wanting to quit every month under his first visionary, feeling unseen and misunderstood That experience drives him to help integrators avoid the same pain Believes healthy leaders create healthy teams, which ripples out to families and communities Not about profitability; it's about the people [00:11:00] The V/I Relationship Is Like a Marriage Visionaries: idea-driven, sales-focused, big-picture thinkers and relationship builders Integrators: logical, process-oriented, detailed, strong at running day-to-day operations Friction between them is normal but must be navigated intentionally Most companies running on EOS deal with this dynamic regularly [00:13:00] First Transformational Relationship: The Church Pastor-Visionary Pastor of his church became his first visionary and gave him his first office job Through that relationship, Clayton came to faith Was given leadership responsibility he hadn't yet earned and rose to it Seven challenging but transformative years that made everything else possible [00:15:04] Second Transformational Relationship: The Second Visionary Introduced Clayton to the book Traction and the Entrepreneurial Operating System Trusted Clayton completely: "I suck at this stuff. I know you'll be good at it" Left Clayton to run the company while he went to fix another struggling business Taught him that costly mistakes are just "tuition," lessons that change you permanently [00:18:00] James: Ten Years of Biweekly Coffee Met every second week for coffee for ten years through multiple job changes and life seasons Some nights all about James; next week all about Clayton, true mutual support Developed depth of relationship that still feels effortless even when months pass Currently in discussions about potentially buying businesses together [00:19:30] Dwayne: The Guy Who Wouldn't Let Clayton Quit Long-time friend with a similar role who has been a consistent sounding board for a decade When Clayton texted "I think I'm gonna get a job," Dwayne responded: "No. Emergency intervention meeting. What are you doing tonight?" Talked Clayton back from the edge multiple times in the hardest early seasons of his business Also in discussions about potentially working together [00:22:00] Iron Sharpens Iron: A Coaching Breakthrough Integrator came to Clayton frustrated and ready to give up on his visionary Clayton recognized his own story in what the integrator was describing Went straight to his visionary, apologized, and owned it; relationship began to shift immediately Visionary called Clayton the following week asking him to coach them together [00:28:04] Where to Find Clayton and What He Offers Website: theunityguide.com Active on LinkedIn and quick to respond Launching a podcast specifically interviewing people about the V/I relationship Webinar for integrators: The Silent Struggle of the Integrator from Frustration to Fulfillment [00:29:48] The Power of Critical Thinking in Relationships Took a Critical Thinking course in university that changed how he processes people and situations Believes ability to see the other side of a situation is becoming rare and it's costing relationships Challenge: before reacting, ask why this person might be showing up this way Good questions asked with humility solve more problems than unsolicited advice ever will KEY QUOTES "In my experience, your company, the people in your company, become like the leaders. If I can help create healthier leaders and healthier relationships at the top, it creates healthier people throughout the organization, which then ripples out to the families and communities those people live in." - Clayton Stenson "A lot of problems can be solved just by humbling ourselves, listening, and asking good questions." - Clayton Stenson CONNECT WITH CLAYTON STENSON

Solomon's experiment in Ecclesiastes 2 explores whether meaning can be found in life lived “under the sun,” apart from God. He pursues every human avenue of fulfillment: pleasure, wine, massive projects, wealth, sexual relationships, reputation, and legacy. With immense resources he essentially tries to build a secular Eden where nothing is off limits. Yet each pursuit ends the same way. Pleasure fades, achievements lose their shine, possessions multiply without satisfaction, and death ultimately levels every person. The verdict of the experiment is stark: life without God becomes empty and exhausting, a constant chase for something that never delivers lasting meaning. The deeper issue is misplacing meaning in things that cannot carry its weight. When people look to pleasure, relationships, status, or circumstances to provide identity and purpose, disappointment and resentment follow. Solomon's insight exposes a pattern that still shapes modern culture, where endless consumption and stimulation attempt to numb deeper questions of purpose. The answer is not rejecting enjoyment but rediscovering a joyful God who gives life as a gift, cultivating gratitude, and learning to receive daily blessings from Him rather than striving endlessly for the next thing. True satisfaction comes not from chasing more, but from living in relationship with the God who gives meaning to everything.

Accountability culture is not about rules, consequences, or compliance. It is about ownership. It is about people choosing to keep their commitments because they believe in what they are part of. For Sam Silverstein, accountability culture is the defining factor that separates average organizations from extraordinary ones. Many companies talk about accountability. Few actually build it into the fabric of how they operate. Silverstein has spent decades challenging leaders to rethink what accountability really means. Too often, it is treated as something imposed from the top down. A missed deadline results in blame. A mistake results in discipline. A performance issue results in pressure. But that approach does not create accountability culture. It creates compliance culture. The difference matters. In a compliance culture, employees do just enough to avoid consequences. In an accountability culture, people take ownership because they are committed to the outcome. They understand the expectations. They believe in the mission. They know their role matters. That shift from compliance to commitment is where performance transforms. Ford Saeks often emphasizes that sustainable business growth requires clarity. Clarity of vision. Clarity of expectations. Clarity of communication. Without clarity, teams default to assumptions. Assumptions lead to inconsistency. Inconsistency erodes trust. And without trust, accountability culture cannot exist. Silverstein's perspective reframes accountability as a promise, not a threat. When someone makes a commitment, they are giving their word. In strong cultures, a person's word carries weight. Leaders model this first. They do what they say they will do. They show up prepared. They follow through. They admit mistakes. That modeling creates permission for others to do the same. Accountability culture also requires alignment. It is not enough to post core values on a wall. Leaders must connect daily behaviors to those values. If integrity is a value, how does it show up in meetings? If service is a value, how is it demonstrated with customers? When values become behavioral standards rather than marketing language, accountability becomes measurable. Another key principle is ownership without excuses. In many organizations, people are quick to explain why something did not happen. The market shifted. The vendor failed. The deadline was unrealistic. While context matters, accountability culture asks a different question. What could we have done differently? That question shifts the focus from blame to responsibility. Silverstein often reminds leaders that accountability is not about punishment. It is about support. If someone misses a commitment, the conversation is not about shame. It is about understanding. What got in the way? What resources were missing? What needs to change moving forward? This approach strengthens relationships instead of weakening them. For growing companies, accountability culture becomes even more critical. As teams expand, complexity increases. Communication lines multiply. Without clear accountability, tasks fall through the cracks. Projects stall. Frustration builds. Leaders feel the weight of carrying too much themselves. When accountability is distributed throughout the organization, leadership capacity multiplies. Saeks frequently speaks about systems driving scalability. Systems create consistency. But systems only work when people are committed to executing them. Accountability culture ensures that systems are respected, refined, and followed. It bridges the gap between strategy and execution. There is also a financial impact. Organizations with strong accountability cultures tend to have higher employee engagement, lower turnover, and stronger customer loyalty. When employees feel ownership, they invest discretionary effort. They go beyond minimum standards. Customers feel the difference. Building accountability culture requires intentional action. Leaders must define clear expectations. They must create safe environments for honest conversations. They must hold themselves to the same standards they expect from others. Most importantly, they must reinforce accountability consistently, not only when something goes wrong. The shift does not happen overnight. Culture is built through repeated behavior. Each kept promise strengthens it. Each honest conversation reinforces it. Each aligned decision deepens it. Accountability culture is ultimately about respect. Respect for the mission. Respect for the team. Respect for the commitments made. When accountability becomes part of the identity of an organization, performance improves naturally. Not because people are forced to perform, but because they choose to. For leaders seeking sustainable growth, accountability culture is not optional. It is foundational. When ownership replaces excuses and commitment replaces compliance, organizations unlock a level of performance that no policy manual can enforce. Watch the full episode on YouTube. They claim the SAVE Act—a simple bill requiring proof of citizenship to register to vote, is actually about 'disenfranchisement' and Voter Suppression. If your team is frustrated, your culture is drifting, and change feels exhausting, this conversation will reset your leadership. In this episode of Sharkpreneur, Seth Greene interviews Scott Burgmeyer, Founder and CEO of BecomeMore Group, who shares how he helps 300–500-employee organizations grow through leadership development, strategy, and change management. He's the author of Chief Optimization Officer (2020) and Think: The Road Less Traveled (May 2025), and he co-hosts the Leadership Line podcast, released weekly. Scott explains how authentic leadership, truth-telling, and doing improvement with people (not to them) can reduce turnover, strengthen culture, and create measurable business impact. Key Takeaways:→ Regulatory disruption can be ignored, resisted, or accepted, but the winners redesign the org and equip leaders for the new reality. → Scaling works best when repeatable systems are built without neglecting the human side that drives adoption and retention. → Authentic leadership is relational, not social. → Leaders often “know” the issues but need an outside voice to cut through the sugarcoating and call out what's really happening. → You can't lead today's workforce with yesterday's assumptions. Frustration often stems from resisting reality rather than adapting your leadership approach. Scott Burgmeyer is the Founder and CEO of BecomeMore Group, a company that reflects his journey of growth and transformation. His early career followed a traditional path, with successful roles in corporate environments. However, after achieving a significant corporate opportunity, Scott realized his comfort zone had shrunk, while the organization seemed content with his performance. Seeking more, he founded Creative Solutions Group in 2010, driven by relentless curiosity and a desire for growth. In 2018, Scott focused his efforts full-time on Creative Solutions Group and shortly thereafter co-authored his first of four books. The company continued to expand, culminating in a corporate acquisition with his partner Tammy in 2021 and the release of their fifth book. In 2023, Scott and Tammy formalized their merger, rebranding as BecomeMore Group to reflect their commitment to continuous personal and professional growth. Ecclesiastes looks at life “under the sun” and notices how repetitive it feels. Generations come and go, work never really stays finished, and even our greatest accomplishments eventually fade. The more Solomon observes and understands the world, the more he realizes that chasing achievement, pleasure, or novelty cannot restore the simple joy people long for. Yet scripture reframes this monotony. The ordinary rhythms of life become the place where faithfulness is formed. Instead of chasing constant newness, God invites us to live with steady obedience and childlike wonder. Through Christ's life, death, and resurrection, even the repetitive moments of life can carry eternal meaning.
On this episode Gil and Gregg welcome Matthew Zachary, a cancer survivor and founder of Stupid Cancer, and organization that helped define the adolescent and young adult (AYA) oncology movement in the United States. Burnout is more common than many leaders are willing to admit. It's rarely a sign that the practice itself is broken. More often, it's a signal that the systems supporting the business need to evolve. In this week's Power Hour, Eugene sits down with Allison Kraemer & Dr. Brian Spittle from The Power Practice to talk about something many practice owners experience but rarely discuss openly: Burnout in private practice.
HOUR 1 1st - We set a weather record today 81; 2nd - Zoran Mandani has problems in New York 3rd - We don't know who Trump is going to endorse in the TX senate race 4th - 00:00 And welcome to the program on your yay Friday afternoon and what a Friday afternoon it is ladies and gentlemen, we set a record high today. The old record was 79 some places throughout the Greenville area recorded 81 degrees. So it's 82 right now, so there you go. 00:24 82 degrees, that is a record. Oh, it's the global warming. Charlie, no, it's not hush. It's just not. got we got some more cool weather coming in the next few days. So don't you worry too much about that. OK, we have got a beaucoup things to talk about today. We really do. I want to start off with with this because something happened. 00:52 back on February the 5th. 00:57 Something kind of strange happened in our state house where we have a quote unquote Republican majority. You see, there was a bill filed on February the 5th by a Democrat state Senator Margie Bright Matthews. Now, that's not weird. Bills are filed in Columbia all the time. 01:26 Every single year, thousands of them. vast majority of these bills go quietly into a committee where they remain until they die. But not this bill. Not this one. S897 and this is what the folks over at Palmetto State Watch S897 proposes to remove the religious exemptions for the measles, mumps and rubella, the MMR vaccine for children attending public institution and daycares. 01:55 as well as for young adults attending a university. This means any person enrolled in a public education and any child attending daycare or planning to attend college must get two doses of the MMR vaccine unless they have a medical exemption, which is extremely difficult to obtain. So somehow, S897 02:24 managed to get on the schedule for a subcommittee hearing. 02:30 two days ago on Wednesday at 930 A.M. in the Gresset building in Columbia. This bill has no co-sponsors whatsoever and is sponsored by a Democrat. 02:46 in a Republican majority state. 02:50 Now, how does this even happen? 02:55 How does this, I mean, how does it even happen? 02:59 When we were supposed to be Ruby Red South, folks, let me tell you, every single day, our state legislature gives you another reason to get out and vote on June 9th in a big, huge way. We all remember COVID. We all remember the mandates. We all remember that you had to have the experimental jab. We all remember that. They act like we haven't forgotten. But because we had an outbreak, 03:29 of the measles in Spartanburg, now all of a sudden, we're gonna do away with the religious exemptions for the jab. Over the last few months, the folks at Palmetto State Watch heard that South Carolina is now the leader in the nations for the measles outbreak in the Spartanburg area since October of 2025. The numbers, they said, is now approaching 1,000 cases, and that's cumulative since October. 03:59 This is oddly reminiscent of another situation our country went through a few years back. Anybody remember COVID? Of course you do. What we're not hearing is how many people have recovered, what long-term complications they've had, how many have died, how many current cases are there. It's just an ever-increasing number that is intended to strike fear in everybody's soul. 04:24 I want you to listen to this. This is, I'm not sure who this is, this Dawn Richardson, Director of Advocacy for NVIC. So in South Carolina, there was a bill just dropped that would remove the religious exemption for just the MMR vaccine for kids in child care, kids in school, and then also it would mandate the MMR vaccine without exemptions for people in college. Now, 04:51 This was filed because in Spartanburg County there's been an outbreak. About 95 % of the cases have occurred in this one county. But what's interesting in that county, they did a huge vaccination push. They vaccinated over 1200 kids aged six months to 11 m ...
Frustration at The Etihad as City are held to a draw by Forest. Semenyo opened the scoring, Gibbs-White hit back, Rodri looked to have won it, only for Anderson to level again. Late drama too with big penalty shouts and Murillo somehow clearing Savinho's effort off the line. Arsenal stretch their lead at the top to seven points, but it's far from over. We break down a chaotic evening and why there's still everything to play for. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

Article text: David Stokes Was Right: Property Tax Caps Are Squeezing Local Budgets Nationwide By Patrick Tuohey Property tax relief has become a rallying cry for state policymakers across the country. Frustration over rising home values and the cost of living has driven lawmakers in states including Indiana, Ohio, and Wyoming to enact sweeping property tax cuts in recent sessions. But while these measures may look attractive on the campaign trail, they are already putting real strain on local governments that depend on property taxes to fund schools, public safety, and other essential services. An article in the publication Governing titled “State Property Tax Relief Pushes Local Budgets to the Brink” highlights this emerging dynamic. Lawmakers in several states have pursued homeowner tax credits, rate caps, or other limitations without fully compensating counties, cities, and school districts for the revenue they lose. The result? Significant budget shortfalls, belt-tightening by local governments, and even more political pressure from local leaders to revisit state legislation cutting their revenue. These developments matter to Missouri because they illustrate the unintended consequences of well-meaning tax cuts. As my colleague David Stokes has written in testimony before the Missouri Legislature, Missouri depends on property taxes to fund local services efficiently, and ill-designed state interventions can do more harm than good. Stokes emphasized that “Missouri's property assessment and tax system needs reforms, but efforts to reduce it dramatically or eliminate it entirely go too far,” and that the state should not trade one revenue problem for another by hollowing out the tax base localities rely on. What's happening outside of Missouri mirrors Stokes' concerns. In Indiana, a roughly $1.2 billion homeowner tax relief package enacted in 2025 will cost local governments an estimated $1.5 billion over three years, forcing many towns and counties to cut services or revise budgets mid-cycle. Wyoming's 25 percent cut on assessed home value for tax purposes similarly leaves schools—which receive roughly 70 percent of property tax revenue—scrambling to balance their books. Stokes has warned that limiting property tax growth without careful policy design reduces the property tax base, shifting the burden to other, more distortionary taxes. He argues that property taxes—particularly on land and real estate—are among the least harmful taxes to economic growth compared with income or sales taxes. Wholesale caps or freezes discourage local fiscal responsibility. Missouri's recent property tax changes—including the creation of “zero percent” and “five percent” counties where valuations can't drive tax increases without voter approval—reflect a similar temptation to cut taxes without addressing the broader revenue implications. Stokes has noted that such approaches may do little to improve fairness while shrinking the tax base that supports schools and local services. If policymakers in the Show-Me State pay attention to the experience of other states, they'll proceed with caution. Cutting property taxes without sustainable alternate revenue exacerbates budget stress for counties and schools and shifts costs to taxes that are more damaging to growth, such as income or sales taxes. Ensuring that relief targets those most in need—as opposed to broad caps that change how local governments fund core services—preserves local autonomy and avoids the fiscal cliff other states are now confronting. Missouri's leaders should focus on reforms that improve fairness and economic efficiency—not simply reducing bills at the expense of services Missourians value. Produced by Show-Me Opportunity

In this episode, we sit down with Danyelle Evans to explore her path from an invested clinician to becoming a state and national advocate for oral health and access to prevention. Danyelle shares the moment that shifted her perspective from frustration to action: caring for a patient who could no longer continue treatment in a traditional brick-and-mortar dental office. Watching him lose access to care sparked her desire to create opportunities to continue caring for patients in more accessible, patient-centered ways. From that experience, Danyelle's advocacy journey grew. She reflects on how professional association membership became a critical foundation—providing education, leadership development, and a voice in policy conversations that directly impact patient care. We also discuss how networking, mentorship, and showing up consistently opened doors to opportunities she never could have planned for, but was prepared to step into. The Joint Readiness Training Center is pleased to present the one-hundredth-and-thirty-fourth episode to air on ‘The Crucible - The JRTC Experience.' Hosted by MAJ Amy Beatty, the Task Force Executive Officer Observer-Coach-Trainer from Task Force Sustainment (Division Sustainment Support Battalion / Light Support Battalion) on behalf of the Commander of Ops Group (COG). Today's guest is CPT Cody Kindle the S-4 Sustainment Planner for JRTC's Plans / Exercise Maneuver Control Task Force. This episode breaks down the “5Ls of Logistics” framework, with a deep focus on the LOGSTAT as the foundational communication tool that drives the entire sustainment enterprise. The discussion emphasizes that a LOGSTAT is not just a report—it is a demand signal and a running estimate that enables anticipatory logistics. Leaders explore how inaccurate or inconsistent submissions distort the log sync, misinform commanders, and create artificial crises. Key friction points include routing confusion between battalion S4s, brigade S4, and the SPO; unclear units of measure (raw numbers vs. days of supply vs. percent of capacity); and the dangers of oversimplifying commodities like Class V or Class VIII into vague “DOS” shorthand. The panel stresses that LOGSTATs must reflect commodities on hand, projected resupply, and consumption rates over time—not simply a thumbs-up status—if they are to support real forecasting and informed decision-making. The conversation also highlights battle rhythm discipline and parallel planning as critical enablers of effective sustainment. Twice-daily submissions feed the log sync, allowing sustainers to track 12- and 24-hour resupply windows, anticipate friction, and cross-level commodities within the brigade before shortages become emergencies. The panel underscores that sustainment math begins with accurate running estimates during MDMP and must continuously adjust based on actual consumption—not static planning factors from garrison. Ultimately, the LOGSTAT is framed as a two-way dialogue between maneuver and sustainment: maneuver communicates requirements; sustainment confirms capability. When synchronized through SOP-driven reporting, disciplined analysis, and aggressive follow-up, the LOGSTAT becomes a combat multiplier rather than administrative white noise. From chasing my DUPR score to navigating frustration, identity, and ego, I reflect on how quickly we attach meaning to performance and labels. I also open up about the importance of rest, honoring slower Sundays, and allowing space to reset before stepping into a full week of leadership, meetings, and responsibility. This episode takes a deeper spiritual turn as I unpack a powerful message that came to me in the middle of the night about mind chatter, intuition, and discerning the voice of God from the voice of the human ego. I explore meditation, self awareness, entrepreneurship, purpose, and how often we justify big decisions as divine guidance when they may be driven by ambition or identity. If you are on a spiritual growth journey, building a business, questioning your inner voice, or seeking clarity between intuition and overthinking, this conversation will invite you into deeper reflection and conscious alignment.IN THIS EPISODE:(0:00) Day 4 diary kickoff: The missing DUPR score and competitive ego(1:17) Season 3 celebration and 150 dollar visa gift card giveaway(2:13) Pickleball rating confusion:...
