Music associated with Christmas
It's episode 81 and it's more Christmas than one person can handle.First up we have the return of the Yule Log. This one is a bit different because the yule log itself is right on the periphery. It features Terry Crews, actor and former NFL player painting a lovely Christmas picture. It's worth a look:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HrmggCLBYYwThen Bob Baker is here with Do You Here What I Hear and Bob is very interested in 'snogging',Then it's this episode's version of A Christmas Carol. This is an episode of Xena Warrior Princess called A Solstice Carol. Xena and her sidekick Gabrielle teach a mean old king the true meaning of Christmas.Watch it here:https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x6m1l5bThen it's Christmas Everyday and Bob suggests lotto scratch cards are the way to keep feeling festive all year long.Next up is another story of the Real Life St Nicholas read by the host of Tinsel Tunes and Christmas Morning Podcast, Scott Newman.Check out the latest episode of Tinsel Tunes:tinseltunes.comThen it's the Quiz. See if you can beat my score of 8.This episode's recommendation is Excuse Me, That's Illegal. It's a true crime podcast that looks at some of the less severe crimes. It's funny and worth a listen.Check it out here:https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/excuse-me-thats-illegal/id1526994548Get in touch.Email: firstname.lastname@example.orgWebsite: totalchristmaspodcast.comMerry Happy Christmas!

Merry Christmas you beautiful people.Welcome to episode 80 of the TCP.First up Bob Baker is talking about why here in the UK we call a flat a flat. Then we have a joke followed by the quiz. This episode's Christmas Not So Classic is Cherry Cherry Christmas by the legend that is Neil Diamond. It's a bit of a gimmick song where he shoe horns as many titles of his classic songs in to the lyrics as he can. The song is catchy, the video is awful.Check it out:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3bhiOr-aQ-wThen Bob Baker gives us another lovely idea to keep Christmas with you all through the year. After that it's another version of A Christmas Carol. This one is an episode of Highway to Heaven from 1984. It's actually rather good so give it a watch:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WeAFpDH1QQg&t=2029sI don't have a recommendation this week, so if you have any podcasts you think other listeners would like, let me know and send them through.Email: email@example.comWebsite: totalchristmaspodcast.comMerry Christmas!

This week, Stauney introduces us to the personal portrait artist of Marie Antoinette, Élisabeth Vigée Le Brun. Vigée Le Brun was an early French painter known for her close associations with the famous aristocracy of Paris, and later - most of the European royals. We talk about her early tutelage under her father, her rise to fame and career at the early age of 14, her tastemaking "It girl" status in Paris, her exile from her home country right before the execution of the Royals, and the remaining years and historic mark she left on the history of France.Episodes Like This One: Female Political Leaders, Sofonisba Anguilsola, Artemesia GentileschiFollow us on Instagram @morethanamuse.podcast
Reading is trendy again! Since the Harry Potter and Twilight craze, we haven't seen the internet as obsessed with books as they have been in the past two years with the rise of #booktok, a subset of TikTok focused on book recommendations, authors, booksellers and anything else of the literary sense. From the publishing and printed book industry to believed to have been completely dying out, to now making more money than ever before, and celebrities and influencers being spotted holding books everywhere they go, today Stauney and Sadie talk about the BookTok sensation and what it's doing for the female authors and book industry, and why we should all be excited about the reading renaissance.Episodes Like This One: Romance Novels Aren't TrashyFollow us on Instagram @morethanamuse.podcast

When thinking about Christmas, the words "peace", "joy", "hope", "manger" and "Immanuel" tend to come to mind. Rarely do people think of the words "fear" or "reverence". In this sermon, Pastor Jim Wilson dives into Luke 2:8:14 to teach us about the Angel's Song.

Presents and the patriarchy? Misogyny under the mistletoe? Santa and... sexism? Today we're talking about Christmas and the unfair division of holiday labor that happens during this season of merriment. In "traditional households" most of the holiday chores, decorating, Christmas cards, present shopping, gift wrapping, treats and dinners, and hosting, all tend to fall to one individual: the woman. Why does it happen today even in our more progressive society? How are some couples able to escape it? Why do some women not really want it to stop? What do the men have to say about it all? Today we discuss it all with some humor and also dive into what one area in Ireland is doing to celebrate the extra holiday labor that women tend to take on every year during December.Episodes Like This One: Misogyny and Marriage, Christmas Music ChartsArticles in this episode:The Gendering of Holiday Labor - JSTOR DailyWhy so many women really hate Christmas.WOULD THERE BE CHRISTMAS WITHOUT WOMEN – Orlando SentinelFollow us on Instagram @morethanamuse.podcast

Holiday songs are in the air and everywhere these days! Some are classics, some are new, some are shiny and some…well. Nevermind. Last year, Other Steve pulled out a classics with Morphine's “Sexy Christmas Baby Mine. We even got to have a final conversation about it with drummer Billy Conway. We also added a unique mashup of Leonard Cohen's “Hallelujah” to our conversation about that now standard with author Ray Padgett. Once again, Other Steve has played Santa this year, and unearthed a classic medley of John Lennon's "Happy Xmas (War Is Over) and "Give Peace a Chance" from Melissa Etheridge. He also tells a great tale about what it's like to dress a stage for Christmas, and record a classic holiday tune. In Ohio. In July.

We did it again! Listen to this to hear me and friends sing some solos and duets of famous Christmas songs. I joined talented musician Justin Belew at his production studio Bibb City Sound in Columbus GA for part 2 of our J & J Christmas Music Extravaganza, following up on the most popular "Run The Race" episode from the past year (check out #92). We have a few special guests performing this time around, including my WTVM co-anchor Barbara Gauthier. Subscribe to listen and find all the conversations I have weekly about faith and fitness! We have some fun with this one, give some interesting info on holiday songs you know, and talk about the Gospel that's at the heart of Christmas. Here's a rundown of the songs we sing and talk about: (4:43) JINGLE BELLS, one of the most famous ones but did it originate in Boston or Savannah GA? It also had a different title. After we sing that together, (11:16) I do an Elvis impersonation (maybe not a good one) on BLUE CHRISTMAS, a sad tune, while (14:32) Justin turns into a diva for ALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS IS YOU by Mariah Carey, a song that people tend to love or hate. (17:32) We do some fun or funny duets with LET IT SNOW! which was written in the summer sun of California, but does everyone want snow? Justin and i also play our parts in (26:19) BABY, IT'S COLD OUTSIDE. We also talk about the controversy surrounding this song over the last decade vs. the original intent. (32:58) Local songwriter, singer, and Army veteran Tim Maggart, who's originally from TN, plays guitar and does his rendition of TENNESSEE CHRISTMAS, a classic by Amy Grant. He talks about memories songs bring and how the military handles the holidays. He also jumps in for a quick FELIZ NAVIDAD, then we continue the international flavor with (42:00) my solo of MELE KALIKIMAKA, Hawaii's greeting at Christmas, played on a ukulele from Waikiki! There are also important hymns and songs focused on Jesus that we sing, like (47:47) O COME ALL YE FAUTHFUL, sung at many holiday services at church, then we discuss the changing lyrics of (53:31) AWAY IN A MANGER and sing the classic song of faith together. (57:28) Veteran TV news anchor and my friend Barbara Gauthier does a beautiful acapella version of SILENT NIGHT, then she and I talk about the Savior Jesus being born and what people may have thought of that news more then 2,000 years ago. (1:06:08) Justin also plays and sings one of his favorite holiday songs by a Christian artist, LABOR OF LOVE by Andrew Peterson. We discuss the poetic lyrics that presents the Gospel in a raw way, how it may have been for Joseph and Mary. We have some fun with our J & J duet of (1:19:30) RUDOLPH THE RED-NOSED REINDEER, a character and song which has a surprisingly sad origin. Were the other reindeer really bullies to Rudolph? We discuss. (1:27:25) The Carpenters sang this one much better, but i give it a try with (THERE'S NO PLACE LIKE) HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS, then we close out this Christmas Music special with (1:36:58) a quick discussion about how The Charlie Brown Christmas Special almost did not air, but brings us wonderful music like CHRISTMAS TIME IS HERE. We give you an instrumental version and brief duet. Hope you enjoyed our music and discussion about Christmas, faith, music, and more. Tell your friends about it! Thanks for listening to the #RunTheRace podcast! Also, write a quick review about it, on Apple podcasts. For more info, go to www.wtvm.com/podcast/.

Life happens so we had to skip the last one but the traditional YFBS anti-Christmas episode is needed this year more than ever.
