Christmastime Topic from Trammin' Episode 289Another year has gone by, and another Christmas has come, as it does this time each year. It's mostly the same, and not much is new. Do we crave new things, or do we yearn for the Christmases gone by? We look forward to traditions, letting go of old ones, making room for new ones. We grow older as the marshmallow world of our childhood melts away. But we grow fonder of new roots that take hold. What makes Christmas special to us in this phase of our lives? Gather 'round as we tell a tale about Christmas that you've all been told, on a little saint episode of Trammin' Through the Snow!Holiday Music"Wish Background" Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com)Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 4.0 Licensehttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/“Jingle Bells” Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com)Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 4.0 Licensehttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/"Silent Night" Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com)Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 4.0 Licensehttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/"Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairies" Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com)Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 4.0 Licensehttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/"Holiday Weasel" Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com)Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 4.0 Licensehttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/"Krampus Workshop" Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com)Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 4.0 Licensehttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/"Oh, Christmas Tree" Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com)Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 4.0 Licensehttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/"Sleigh Bells Ringing" Mike Koenig (soundbible.com)Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 3.0 Licensehttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/"Jingle Bells (Calm)" Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com)Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 4.0 Licensehttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/Listen to full episodes every Windsday and topic-only uploads on Big Thunder Thursdays!InstagramTrammin' - https://instagram.com/TramminPodcastChristian Rainwater - https://instagram.com/imrainwaterMusicLocal Forecast - Elevator Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com)Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 3.0 Licensehttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/ Trammin' - The Disneylanders, Addy DaddyUsed with permission.Character Art & AnimationNadia Dar - https://nadsdardraws.carrd.co/Trammin.comTrammin' is written without the use of Artificial Intelligence.©Trammin' - A Disneyland Podcast

It is an honor and a privilege to welcome music producer and songwriter Toby Gad to the first Jake's Take with Jacob Elyachar Podcast Holiday Special! Toby began his career in the late 1980s, when he and his brother Jens had three of their songs featured on controversial music duo Milli Vanilli's European debut and multi-platinum album, All or Nothing. Because of the songs' success, Milli Vanilli's producer Frank Farian produced the brothers' 1990 debut album, NRG. That same year, Toby met Jacqueline Nemorin, and a 10-year collaboration began with 1992's Creole Dance and continued with 1995's Mission of Love and the title song for Neverending Story III. Following success in Germany, Toby left for the United States. He opened Strawberrybee studio in Midtown Manhattan and co-wrote “Unspoken” with Madeline Stone and O. Hatch for Christian platinum artist Jaci Velasquez. The song stayed on the Christian Billboard Top 20 Singles chart for half a year. In 2003, Toby produced and co-wrote “A Toast to Men” for Willa Ford, and two years later, developed, produced, and co-wrote Kaci Brown's Interscope Records debut, Instigator. He also produced and co-wrote songs for Ricky Martin and the Veronicas. In 2008, his career shifted into high gear after Fergie released a song they co-wrote, “Big Girls Don't Cry.” The song went 4x platinum and peaked at the number one position on the US Billboard Hot 100. He also co-wrote and co-produced Beyoncé's “If I Were A Boy,” which went 2x platinum and peaked at number three on the US Billboard Hot 100. He continued to write massive hits for Calum Scott (“No Matter What”), Demi Lovato (“Skyscraper”), Jessie J (“Who You Are”), Josh Groban (“River”), Leona Lewis (“Fire Under My Feet'), and Madonna (“Bitch, I'm Madonna” and “Living for Love”). One of his massive hits was John Legend's “All of Me,” which earned RIAA's 13x Diamond (Highest Certified RIAA Single in History) and won Grammy, Soul Train, and NAACP Awards. Recently, Toby Gad released his first holiday studio album, Piano Diaries Christmas. The album features original songs co-written with an all-star group of recording artists. Anthony Gargiula, Gavin James, Huntley, Joelle James, Jordin Sparks, Loren Allred, Marisha Wallace, Sam Ryder, and Victoria Justice are some of the talented vocalists who are featured on the record. When he is not in the recording studio, Toby is also the host of the Songs You Know Podcast. In each episode, Toby and his guests uncover the tales, creative processes, and moments of magic that brought iconic songs you know and love to life. Previous guests include Billy Steinberg, Jessie J, Josh Groban, Justin Tranter, Lindy Robbins, Loren Allred, and Marisha Wallace. On the 2025 holiday special, Toby Gad talked about his songwriting sessions with Beyonce and Demi Lovato, writing “All of Me” with John Legend, the moment he swore at the Queen of Pop, and previewed Piano Diaries Christmas. Dolly Parton BioSnap a weekly updated Biography.Dolly Parton has once again proven why she remains a singular force in country music, business, and American culture, with a flurry of significant activities and developments in just the past few days. On November 21, Dolly launched a fresh national tour for her stage musical Smoky Mountain Christmas Carol. This adaptation of Dickens' classic, set in Depression-era Appalachia and infused with original music and Appalachian melodies, is slated to visit more than 20 cities through the holiday season. Critics and cast members alike are praising the show's emotional warmth and Parton's unique songwriting, describing it as a new American classic destined to become a holiday tradition, according to DollyParton.com and regional theaters including the Carson Center and the Baker Center for the Arts.Parallel to the tour, Dolly unveiled her innovative Threads My Songs in Symphony experience, with performances in Raleigh, North Carolina on November 21 and 22. This multimedia orchestral event features Dolly onscreen, leading audiences through orchestrated versions of her most iconic hits plus previews from her upcoming Broadway musical. Dolly explains that Threads is about weaving the story of her life through her music, engaging fans in an immersive, biographical celebration through new sonic arrangements, as shared in details from the North Carolina Symphony and Visit Raleigh. In business news, excitement continues to swirl around the announcement that Dolly Parton's Tennessean Travel Stops will be rebranded, with a major flagship in Cornersville, Tennessee launching in Summer 2026. This collaboration seeks to redefine highway travel experiences across the South, creating new jobs and expanding the reach of Dolly's homegrown brand, as highlighted on her official website. On the music front, Dolly created holiday buzz with the release of a special limited-edition picture disc vinyl for A Holly Dolly Christmas, celebrating the album's 5th anniversary. Only 2,000 copies were pressed, making it a quick sell-out and a highly coveted item among collectors. Dolly promoted this release personally to her 8.2 million Instagram followers, sparking enthusiastic responses and holiday playlist debates, according to a November 21 feature from Parade. However, recent headlines have also focused on Dolly's health. Owing to what she called unspecified “health challenges,” Dolly has canceled several major appearances, including her in-person attendance at the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions Hall of Fame induction on November 17 and the 2025 Governors Awards where she was to receive an honorary Oscar. In a heartfelt message posted to Dollywood's official channels and covered by outlets such as Parade and The Today Show, Dolly reassured fans that her doctors advised rest and she remains grateful for the recognition and support, albeit from afar.Social media this week overflowed with fans sending well wishes and celebrating Dolly's continued resilience and creativity, even speculating about whether these recent health setbacks could signal a semi-retirement—a claim unconfirmed by any direct statement from Dolly or her team.Dolly Parton's presence this week underscores her lasting cultural significance, with creative, commercial, and personal headlines reflecting a woman still at the heart of music, storytelling, and Southern enterprise—even when she has to step back for her health.Get the best deals https://amzn.to/3ODvOtaThis content was created in partnership and with the help of Artificial Intelligence AI

Shoot us a Text.Episode #1188: Today we're talking Toyota's global muscle amid U.S. tariffs, Waymo's bold autonomous rollout into new cities, and why your store's holiday playlist might be just early enough to keep shoppers smiling.Show Notes with links:Toyota posted a surprising 62% jump in second-quarter profit and raised its annual outlook, even as U.S. tariffs continue to take a multi-billion-dollar toll. The automaker's resilience stems from its increasingly global revenue base and a strong performance outside North America.Despite nearly $3B in quarterly tariff costs, Toyota's bottom line rose thanks to gains in Europe, Africa, and currency advantages.Q2 net profit hit ¥932B (~$6.2B), easily beating analyst estimates of ¥801B (~$5.3B), and revenue rose 8.2% year-over-year to ¥12.4 trillion (~$82.7B).President Trump, speaking to U.S. troops in Japan last week, said Prime Minister Kishida told him Toyota would invest $10B in U.S. manufacturing. “Go out and buy a Toyota,” Trump added.Waymo is accelerating its position as the autonomous driving front-runner, announcing a major expansion into San Diego, Detroit, and Las Vegas. The move adds to an already impressive footprint that includes full-service robotaxi operations in Los Angeles, Phoenix, and the Bay Area.Waymo will begin service in San Diego in 2026, with Detroit and Las Vegas to follow shortly after. The company is emphasizing snow-readiness in Detroit, citing ongoing cold-weather testing in Michigan's Upper Peninsula.Waymo's return to Las Vegas is symbolic—it passed the first-ever state self-driving test in Nevada back in 2012.Waymo continues logging 2 million autonomous miles per week and plans to launch in Miami, Dallas, Washington, and even London by 2026.Retailers are decking the halls earlier than ever, and despite the usual grumbling about “Christmas creep,” most shoppers seem totally fine with it. A new survey reveals that the majority of U.S. consumers don't mind holiday music and décor showing up well before Thanksgiving.Only 20% of consumers think retailers should wait until after Thanksgiving to start the holiday ambiance.A combined 55% are cool with it starting in early to mid-November, while 22% are fine with it as early as October.Mood Media, a company specializing in in-store atmosphere, says holiday scents and music can actually increase shopper “dwell time.”41% of consumers said holiday vibes make them stay longer; only 6% said it makes them leave sooner.0:00 Intro with Paul J Daly and Kyle Mountsier0:30 ASOTU Edge Webinar on AI and Data Today!1:28 Toyota Raises Guidance Amid Tariff Hits3:44 Waymo To Add San Diego, Detroit and Las Vegas6:51 Shoppers Seem TJoin Paul J Daly and Kyle Mountsier every morning for the Automotive State of the Union podcast as they connect the dots across car dealerships, retail trends, emerging tech like AI, and cultural shifts—bringing clarity, speed, and people-first insight to automotive leaders navigating a rapidly changing industry.Get the Daily Push Back email at https://www.asotu.com/ JOIN the conversation on LinkedIn at: https://www.linkedin.com/company/asotu/
It's nearly the end of October and already my daily practice is revolving around what I will need to play this holiday season. Yours might be too. The smart harpist knows that this is the time to plan your practice carefully so that you don't have to cram practice time into an already overloaded holiday schedule. If we feel prepared to play going into the holiday rush, it makes everything about the holidays more fun. So now is the time to plan. We have about six weeks from now until the end of November. In my own planning I usually use our Thanksgiving as my target date to have my music ready. If you're not up to speed on American holidays, our Thanksgiving is the fourth Thursday in November, so date-wise, it's a movable feast, but as it marks the kickoff for our holiday rush, it's a great target date for music readiness. Today, I want to share what I think is the easiest and most realistic schedule for making sure whatever music you have to play this December will be ready. I start by looking at the three most critical decisions: what “ready” means (and believe me, it's different for each piece, each player and each performance), how much practice time you have and how to divide that time among everything you want to practice and play. Once you have made those decisions, it's about making a realistic and flexible schedule that allows you to get your music ready without the stress and lets you feel confident that you are ready to play your best. Country singer Mickey Guyton joined Billboard's Behind the Setlist podcast from China where she was a contestant on the TV show "The Singer." She ended up coming in second place on finale on August. 8. "I'm the first country artist that they've had on the show, and it's just been so much fun," she said. "It's really been a beautiful experience." Up next for Mickey: the release of new holiday music. Mickey has been with Capital Records Nashville for over a decade and released two albums, Remember Her Name in 2021, which contained what's perhaps her best known song, “Black Like Me,” and House of Fire in 2024. She has also been a familiar face on television, co-hosting the ACM Awards in 2021 and performing the national anthem for Super Bowl 56 in 2022. Learn more about your ad choices. This holiday season, the singer/songwriter, piano player, and all around musical overachiever Ben Folds released an album called Sleigher (in stores now from New West Records). It's not so much a "Ben Folds Christmas record" as it is a Ben Folds record set at Christmas. For this episode, which makes its debut on Christmas Eve, Paul chats with Ben about what went into the album, and detours into dogs, inflatable lawn Santas, the magic of Burt Bacharach, and what it means to be a human music maker in the age of Artificial Intelligence. The Record Store Day Podcast is a weekly music chat show written, produced, engineered and hosted by Paul Myers, who also composed the theme music and selected interstitial music. Six-time Grammy winner, Nashville Songwriters Hall of Famer, and Kennedy Center honoree Amy Grant joins us to chat about the pursuit of honesty in songwriting, the stories behind some of her songs, and her catalog of modern day Christmas classics. PART ONEPaul and Scott chat about the idea of a "definitive" version of a Christmas song, discuss their favorites, debate about Christmas songs they love and hate, and delve into Scott's elementary school crush on Amy Grant. PART TWOOur in-depth interview with Amy GrantABOUT AMY GRANTPerhaps the most influential pioneer of the Contemporary Christian Music genre, Amy Grant released her first album while still in high school. Her fourth album, 1982's Age to Age, found unprecedented success with hit singles such as “Sing Your Praise to the Lord” and “El Shaddai.” Age to Age topped the Christian album chart for 85 weeks, earned Amy her first Grammy award, and became the first Christian album to be certified Platinum by the RIAA. Her 1984 album Straight Ahead spawned hits with Amy's original compositions “Thy Word” and “Angels,” and became the first Christian album to land on the Billboard 200. By the mid-1980s, she further crossed over to mainstream success when “Find a Way,” which she wrote with Michael W. Smith, hit the Top 40 on Billboard's pop chart. The following year, Amy reached the top of the pop chart with “The Next Time I Fall,” a duet with Peter Cetera. Her 1991 album Heart in Motion sold 5 million copies and spawned four Top 10 singles on the Billboard Hot 100, including the self-penned hits “Baby Baby” and “Every Heartbeat.” That same year, she enjoyed another Top 10 pop hit as a songwriter with Michael W. Smith's “Place in This World.” Amy continued to find mainstream success in the mid-1990s with singles such as “House of Love,” a duet with her now-husband Vince Gill, as well as the songs “Lucky One” and “Takes a Little Time,” which she wrote with Keith Thomas and Wayne Kirkpatrick, respectively. Starting with 1983's A Christmas Album, holiday music has been an important part of Amy Grant's artistry. She has since released the albums Home for Christmas, which was certified three-times Platinum; A Christmas to Remember; Tennessee Christmas; and The Animals' Christmas, a collaborative album with Art Garfunkel featuring songs by Jimmy Webb that explore the nativity story from the perspective of the animals. Amy's original songs “Tennessee Christmas” and “Breath of Heaven” have become modern day holiday standards. Her Christmas concerts, often featuring husband Vince Gill and longtime collaborator Michael W. Smith, have become a holiday tradition. To date, Amy has released twenty studio albums and has sold over 30 million records worldwide. Seventeen of her albums have reached #1 on Billboard's Top Christian Albums chart, more than any other artist in history. She has won 6 Grammy awards, 26 Dove awards, and has been inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame. Amy has received honorary doctorates from two universities, has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and was inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2021. She was a recipient of the prestigious Kennedy Center Honors for lifetime artistic achievement in 2022.

It's an annual tradition: Every December, artists release their bids to join the hallowed halls of holiday music history. The gold standard remains Mariah Carey's "All I Want for Christmas Is You," which reportedly earns the pop star $2.5 million annually in royalties. This year's crop of seasonal offerings spans from ambitious originals to reimagined classics, with artists trying everything from AI-generated lyrics to funk renditions of Hanukah hymns. To evaluate this year's entries, we're introducing our definitive sleigh bell ranking system: five sleigh bells marks a future holiday classic destined to join Mariah in the pantheon, while one sleigh bell promises pop obscurity.
