All right, college sports fans -- Dabo Swinney's Clemson football program was expected to rise to the top of the sport this season, but in Week 1 it couldn't overcome the challenge of a visiting LSU team in a 17-10 loss at Death Valley (the original one). We discuss Cade Klubnik's struggles as well as those of the offensive line in front of him and the problems up front for the hometown defense as well. What will it take for Clemson to bounce back from the season-opening struggles? We also discuss some sources of hope. For extra content, see our Tiger Trends blog at ClemsonKickoff.com. Mid-life crises have a bad rap.
Our recent trip to New York was a meticulously planned gritty, beautiful and amazing whirlwind. My daughter Evie had her heart set on one particular treasure: a Jellycat unicorn from FAO Schwarz. If you have an 11 year old, you'll understand the obsession with these adorable, fluffy toys.So we get to FAO Schwarz and it was packed. No unicorn in sight. Evie was disappointed and she settled for an avocado Jellycat instead. But let's face it, she really wanted that unicorn.24 hours later, two girls walked past holding the exact unicorn Evie wanted. Her eyes lit up. Her dream was still alive! We all get disappointed in business don't we? It's not what we do with that disappointment, it's how we bounce back.In sales, you don't always get to the yes straight away. Sometimes you get silence, sometimes you get a hard no. But with curiosity, with better questions, with persistence, with follow-up, things can shift. Sometimes really really quickly. So if you're lacking a few unicorns lately—whether in sales or broader business objectives—maybe it's time to regroup. Gather your team, get curious and keep your sights set on that goal. You never know what can happen in 24 hours. What's your unicorn? And more importantly, what's your plan to get it?Emma McQueen:Thriving Women 2026 WaitlistWebsiteFor a copy of Emma's book, 'Go-getter: Raise your mojo, shift your mindset and thrive' – https://emmamcqueen.com.au/want-more/emmas-book/Mentioned in this episode:Thriving Women WaitlistJoin The Waitlit for Thriving BusinessThriving Women

Here's 2 great questions Robert Earnshaw asked himself upon retiring from the highest level:“If I'm not a footballer…then who am I?”“Now that it's over, how do I want to show up, and who do I want to be for those around me?”Transferable Lessons & Principles from our conversation:- Obsession is necessary. The person who lies awake at night thinking about how to get better will win. - You are more than your job. Do not confuse WHAT you do with WHO you are.- Diversify your sources of happiness and self-esteem. Not every passion needs to be monetised. Keep something just for you. Disappointment is something we all carry — the gap between what we hoped for and what is. In this message, Alisha explores what it means to live in the “Saturday” space of life — that confusing middle ground between loss and resurrection, when God feels silent and hope seems buried. Instead of despair or denial, we're invited to wait — to bring our raw honesty before God in lament, to lean into community, and to discover that even in our deepest disappointments, Jesus is walking right beside us.

Word comes now that we are getting others who have seen things in the sky. Is this a recipe for disaster? Kristian Harloff gives his thoughts.

Disappointment is the feeling of sadness when what we hope for doesn't come to pass. Join us as we hear guest speaker Bron Tait share her story and wisdom on facing disappointment with God/life, with others and with ourselves.
Despite hopes for a Feel Good Summer Friday, the Mets' disappointing season, potentially their worst, is making it difficult for Gio and Jerry. The team is plagued by a "loser virus," consistently finding ways to lose, making the season a nightmare. Gio questions the clubhouse atmosphere, while Jerry and C-Lo share the frustration. Criticisms include Cedric Mullins' poor route and his trade for Tyrone Taylor, manager Carlos Mendoza's lack of answers, and overall sloppy play. An overnight caller suggested firing Mendoza for Wally Backman, though Jerry believes Carlos Beltran will be the next manager. The hour concludes with a caller from Missouri rubbing salt in the wound, and another whose brother-in-law, a 60-year veteran of Shea Stadium and Citi Field (starting with The Beatles' concert), is throwing out tonight's first pitch.
I wanted a "best summer ever," but what I got was good, not great. If you've ever faced a similar disappointment—a goal that fell flat, a plan that didn't pan out, or a feeling that just wasn't what you'd hoped for—this episode is for you. I'm sharing my personal disappointment and how I'm handling it. Using my WN-WIN formula, we'll walk through what went well, what didn't, and what's most important now. A philosophical approach to overcoming disappointment involves accepting that setbacks are a normal part of life. This strategy allows us to navigate challenges with greater resilience. Philosophical inquiry invites us to examine depression, anxiety, and disappointment through a broad perspective. We can learn to explore life's challenges as opportunities for meaning-making rather than battles to be won or lost. By cultivating perspective, self-inquiry, and acceptance, we can transform emotional turbulence into a deeper understanding of ourselves and the world. For a philosophical perspective on relieving disappointment, Harvesting Happiness Podcast host Lisa Cypers Kamen speaks with author, philosophical counselor, and professor emeritus of philosophy at Brooklyn College, Samir Chopra. Samir offers insights into how acting in service to others can mitigate the sting of disappointment, how life is an exercise in staving off depression, and how self-care can ease anxiety and restore sanity. In this talk, we explore how disappointment, though often unwelcome, can be a profound teacher. By meeting life's letdowns with openness, we discover the tender ground of vulnerability that reveals our interconnectedness. The stories and reflections point to a shift from resisting what is to receiving it as part of the path. In the space where expectations dissolve, something truer and more spacious can quietly emerge. This talk was given on the Wednesday night program at HoW Zen Temple on July 23rd 2025. ★ Support this podcast ★

SHOW NOTES: On this show… we're leaning into the uncomfortable yet universal feeling of disappointment and uncovering how to rebuild trust with yourself after life doesn't go as planned. It's that gut-punch moment when expectations crash into reality, leaving behind a mess of frustration, doubt, and “now what?” You might feel like you've been knocked off course, your momentum stalled, and your confidence shaken. But what if, instead of seeing disappointment as a dead end, you viewed it as a detour—a nudge toward something you might have missed if things had gone “perfectly” the first time? We'll explore how disappointment can chip away at resilience, but also how it can be the very thing that reshapes your perspective and opens doors you didn't even know were there. Together, we'll dig into practical strategies for climbing out of a rut, finding the hidden positives, and learning to cope in ways that strengthen—rather than sabotage—your self-trust. Because while we can't control every twist and turn, we can choose how we show up when the road suddenly changes. Let's be honest—disappointment isn't just a fleeting feeling. It's layered. Sometimes it's about the situation itself, and other times, it's about what it represents: a loss of control, a missed opportunity, or the crumbling of a picture you've been carrying in your mind for days, months, or even years. It's not just “I didn't get the job” or “this relationship ended”—it's the sting of all the energy, hope, and vulnerability you invested. And here's where disappointment gets tricky—it can quickly erode trust in yourself. You might start questioning your judgment: “Why didn't I see this coming?” Or second-guess your abilities: “Maybe I'm not as capable as I thought.” That self-doubt plants seeds that, if left unchecked, can slow your momentum and keep you from taking the next step forward. The ripple effects don't stop there. Disappointment, if not processed, can seep into unrelated parts of your life—making you less willing to take risks, more guarded in relationships, or overly cautious in your goals. This is your brain's way of trying to protect you, but overprotection can be just as limiting as recklessness. What's important to remember is this: disappointment is a sign you cared. You invested yourself, your time, and your hope in something that mattered to you. That's not weakness—that's bravery. The key is learning how to move through that sting without letting it define you or keep you stuck. Bouncing Back From Disappointment Life Got You Down? Experts Suggest ‘Lemonading' Disappointment Motivates Me | Motivated + CHALLENGE: Look at disappointment not as a roadblock, but as a recalibration. Ask yourself what this experience is teaching you and how you can use it to strengthen your trust in yourself. Every setback can hold a seed for growth—if you're willing to plant it. I Know YOU Can Do It!

–There's almost no food that I don't like.It usually takes a long, long hour to get the proper freeze, so we took turns slowly turning the handle over and over.Joe Brown is a retired building contractor. He lives on a small family farm in the Bethania area of Winston Salem NC. He now has time to do all those projects that a busy work schedule didn't allow. He enjoys his grandchildren and great grandchildren and as time allows likes to reflect on his life and write stories about his adventures. Several of those stories have been shared through The Personal Publishing Project. His prayer is that his family can appreciate the history he has lived.

Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud dominate the infrastructure-as-a-service market, controlling 71% of the market share. This concentration is driven by the rapid growth of artificial intelligence, with global cloud spending projected to exceed $700 billion in 2025. The economic impact of AI is significant, as evidenced by Microsoft reaching a $4 trillion valuation, largely due to investments in AI infrastructure. However, this boom has created challenges for recent computer science graduates, who are struggling to find jobs in a tech industry that is increasingly adopting AI tools while simultaneously laying off employees. The job market for young tech workers is deteriorating, with unemployment rates for those aged 20 to 30 rising sharply. Economists warn of a potential "jobless recovery" for white-collar roles, as AI continues to replace routine jobs. The share of tech jobs peaked in late 2022 but has since declined, leaving graduates questioning the reliability of traditional pathways into tech careers. This shift highlights the need for companies to reassess their hiring practices and adapt to the changing landscape influenced by AI.In a concerning development, researchers have identified vulnerabilities in Google's Gemini AI Assistant that could allow attackers to hijack smart devices through manipulated calendar invites. These vulnerabilities pose significant risks as AI becomes more integrated into everyday applications. Although Google has addressed these issues, the potential for exploitation raises alarms about the security of AI systems and the importance of implementing strict controls and user training to mitigate risks. The recent launch of GPT-5 by OpenAI has sparked disappointment among users, leading to a petition for a return to the previous model. Many users feel that GPT-5 does not offer substantial improvements over its predecessor, resulting in a significant drop in OpenAI's perceived leadership in AI. This disconnect between advanced AI tools available at home and outdated technology in the workplace is causing dissatisfaction among employees, prompting organizations to evaluate their AI policies and capabilities to retain talent and enhance productivity. [This episode originally aired on Nov. 20, 2023] In this episode, I'd like to explore such things as resistance, avoidance, procrastination — and why it's so hard to keep going • I think such things are connected with expectations and its partner, disappointment • in one form or another, or at one time or another, I think most of us have had these kinds of experiences • but we don't need to view such things as character flaws or annoying obstacles; they actually are an important part of the whole spiritual path • if you never felt frustrated, if you never felt resistance, that might be a sign that you aren't really doing the practice; maybe you're not letting it bite • we set ourselves up for disappointment and frustration by the stories we tell ourselves • as practitioners or as students of the Dharma, instead of trying to match our experience to the stories we've told ourselves, we could drop our stories and just look • instead of being threatened or annoyed, we could be curious of what this experience has to teach us • can we actually be with experience as it arises, just as it is? • moments of disappointment can be powerful teachings • they can loosen our resentments and liberate us from the distortions that come from viewing reality through the lens of our expectations and disappointments.
In this episode of The P.A.S. Report Podcast, Professor Nicholas Giordano sits down with George Hill, retired FBI Supervisory Intelligence Analyst, to expose the pervasive corruption festering within America's bureaucracy. They examine the disturbing revelations from declassified documents, the culture of disengagement which has eroded civic responsibility, and the weaponization of intelligence agencies against the American people. They break down how unchecked bureaucratic power threatens the very foundation of the Republic, why whistleblowers face retaliation instead of protection, and the urgent need for Congressional action to restore accountability and transparency. Episode Highlights Declassified documents confirm long-standing corruption inside intelligence agencies and the FBI. Whistleblowers face systemic retaliation, revealing Congress's failure to protect them. Oikophobia fuels cultural disengagement, self-hatred, and the rise of an unaccountable, unchecked bureaucracy that threatens the Republic.
