In this episode, Bill Powers shares his analysis and lessons learned from investing in Aurcana Silver from January 2020 until now. Last week Bill sold his final Aurcana shares for about C$.18/share. Bill initially invested via a private placement in early 2020 at C$.22/share with a full C$.375 three-year warrant. At one point in early 2021 Bill was up almost 10x on his Aurcana investment (when considering the in-the-money value of the warrants in addition to the equity). After exiting the stock last week Bill's net gain on Aurcana was about 200%. Aurcana was a show sponsor from January 2020 until September 2021. It was another extremely busy week on the GAA front and another hectic one is in store. The story of last week were the Laois minor hurlers who reached their first Leinster final in almost a decade. Their victory over Kilkenny was the county's first since the 1960s and sparked wild scenes of celebration. It was not as happy a story for the Laois Ladies who endured extra time heartbreak against Wexford. The Laois camogie team also lost their semi final and they both face a wait until the All-Ireland series. The clubs leagues are also hotting up while the Laois senior hurlers face a tough encounter with Galway. Steven Miller and Alan Hartnett are here to run through all the talking points and look ahead to the weekend.

I was excited when AWS announced Aurora Serverless at re:Invent 2017. Disappointment followed shortly after. Even after Aurora Serverless became a generally available service in August 2018, it was missing important features like multi-AZ deployments and read replication. Unfortunately, the innovative service never achieved a breakthrough. Therefore, I used Aurora Serverless in exceptional cases only. Four years later, AWS is making a fresh start with Aurora Serverless v2. Reason enough to take a closer look at the new service.

Disappointment is a difficult topic to deal with in ministry. As humans, we tend to make mistakes and sometimes, disappointment can come at nobody's fault at all. So, how do we process the disappointment in ministry then? Personally process as leaders and processing with our people? What about when the church plant fails? Hans Kristensen planted the Resolved Church in Newtown, and six years later closed it down. Naturally, failure comes with any attempt at anything! But how do we know when to call time? And what part does ego play in all of this? Hans Kristensen is now the senior pastor of Marsfield Community Church in Sydney. Before that he was founding pastor of Resolved Newtown in Sydney and is bringing a wise word on dealing with disappointment. Raul, found love in New York with a partner who seemed to be a dream come true. Raul invested wholeheartedly into the relationship - holding nothing back. Only one seed of doubt existed in their connection and he sensed it from the beginning. Was Anthony going to be ready? Did he still need time to explore the world as a single man? Anthony is six years younger than Raul. After two years of bliss, Anthony pulled back and said goodbye to what we can only guess was premature Love. Though Raul found the answer as to why they were going their separate ways, he has had a very difficult time moving on. Anything can happen when you are a business owner. And the last thing you want to do is leave money on the table. If people don't pay you, you have to collect the cash. Having processes in place will help but you need these 4 keys to collect the cash you've worked for. About Dee Bowden Dr. Dee Bowden is the creator of Collect the Cash. She works with small businesses that want to solve their cash flow problems. Dee is on a mission to keep small businesses profitable. Her revenue recovery strategies have been featured in Forbes, Yahoo Finance, VIP Global, Black Enterprise, and Thrive Global. Dee is also the author of Collect the Cash: The Sale is not Complete Until the Money is in the Bank. As a Christian, Dee took stock in the verse James 4:2, "you have not because you ask not" and her career took off from there. The 4 Keys to Collect the Cash in Your Business Problem Solving Customer Service Relationship Building Gratitude - thanking the people who help you solve the problem to collect the money Problem-solving can help you get results more quickly. People and businesses change systems and invoices can be lost. If you aren't getting paid, problem solve. When God Provides in the Midst of Disappointment and Chaos Life-changing events can jar you, but God often uses these experiences to teach you something and bring you to a new place in your journey. For Dee, the loss of her job led her to create a business, write a book, be sensitive to entrepreneurs new to the journey and be able to help them set up their businesses. Dee likes to say, the sale is not complete until the money is in the bank. It is important to bring clients into your business, but it is equally important to collect payment. Setting Up Processes to Collect the Cash in Your Business Think of the sales process for a smartphone. When you go into the phone store the representative is going to ask how you are. Then they take your driver's license to verify your identity. Then the representative tells you that you are eligible for an upgrade. The next thing you know you are signing a contract for a new phone. Order fulfillment is the next step. Sale, contract, order fulfillment. Next is accounts payable. You can choose how and when you want to pay and they bill you accordingly. Then there is accounts receivable, this is the receipt of your payment to them. It is necessary to keep track of invoices, the number of customers you have, and the money you have coming in and when. System or Program to Use for Invoicing and Accounts Receivable Quickbooks is an option. Dee likes Excel. Ask your accountant if they have a bookkeeper to help you set up this tracking system. Robyn emphasized that setting up this process from contract to invoicing as automation saves time and helps decrease mistakes. But, there still needs to be a check and balance system. Gratitude in Entrepreneurship When you were a kid, there were two things your parent told you, to say please and thank you. God tells us to be grateful. Being grateful and saying thank you shows appreciation. Gratitude is recognizing the people that have helped you get to where you are, you can't do anything on your own. Gratitude is the secret sauce, the thing most people don't expect. The more gratitude you express, the more that flows through you. As a business owner, you will run into problems. If God gave you an idea, he expects you to act on it. He also knows that you will have problems but he is there for you. And most importantly, have fun in your business. Dee also recommended that everyone hire a coach. Money Mindset Robyn mentioned the interview with Judy Weber and the discussion around the money mindset. It is okay for us to make money as Christian women. If you look at the examples in the Bible, most of the great leaders were wealthy, they had money. The important thing to remember is that the love of money can distract us from doing good and living the life Jesus has called us to live. Think of the Proverbs 31 woman. She was an entrepreneur, very savvy, and made money. So if you are concerned with charging clients and collecting the cash, remember, it is okay for you to make money. Recommendations for Accepting Payments Ideally, you want to be paid in full at the time of contract implementation. However, you can set up payments on a monthly basis. If you can't get all payments upfront, get a deposit, and set up a process for invoicing on a recurring date each month. And if a payment is missed, don't panic, contact the client as soon as possible. Dee said everything cannot be solved in 144 characters so sometimes you have to get on the phone. Ep. 22 (Part 1 of 2) | Integral leaders Kateryna Yasko, Vytautas Bučiūnas, and Bence Ganti illuminate many of the most poignant and pressing questions of our time, brought to the fore by the ongoing war in Ukraine: Can postmodern people embrace a warrior consciousness when necessary? Are Russians, brainwashed by propaganda, who explicitly support the war worthy of compassion? Can people remain sane and humane while at the same time taking up arms? How can we handle the effects of the psychological trauma that will cascade over generations? And how do we prevent the mass delusion and psychosis that is so easily propagated via modern media technology? What are the global consequences of the Russian war on Ukraine? The trillions of dollars now being diverted to defense and military weaponry in the West are trillions of dollars that will not be spent on social programs, global health, education, climate change, and food—many people in Africa will starve as a result of this war on the breadbasket, wheat-producing Ukraine. What is wrong with democracy if its leaders can't step up to the plate, be authentic, strong, and stand up for what is right, while autocrats do whatever they please? A powerful, heart wrenching conversation asking the right questions, pointing towards the answers. Recorded April 15, 2022. For more wrestling with the questions, and to share wisdom, ideas, support, and inspiration, there is IEC 2022 (Integral European Conference) this May online and in Budapest. And to donate directly to help the Ukrainian people via Kateryna and Vytautas using iAwake's Funnel to Help, Heal, and Support the Ukrainian People, see below. The reality is: “If Russia stops fighting, there will be no war. If Ukraine stops fighting, there will be no more Ukraine.” Topics & Time Stamps - Part 1Ukraine update: the level of trauma has grown very high in the last month, both inside and outside Ukraine, with the discoveries in Bucha and elsewhere (03:18) Everyone feels guilty: the people who have fled, the people in the cities, the people in territorial defense: everyone feels a strong need to contribute more (05:03) The West is consolidating; there's less naivete about Russia (07:45) People around the world can and need to contribute (09:34) True heroism is coming to the fore; this could be a wake up call for a lot of us (11:35) Bence Ganti, Integral leader and director of the Integral European Conference, talks about the situation in Hungary and the coming IEC in May 2022 (12:32) Kateryna's perspective on recent weeks: facing an overwhelming, multi-fronted battle on all levels, it's impossible to give yourself space to take care of yourself (15:40) In Russia, children in school are taught only propaganda; refugee children are traumatized and don't speak the language of their host countries (18:28) Disappointment and frustration with opinion leaders, prominent intellectuals in the West, writing articles totally disconnected from the realities of the Ukrainian situation (19:55) Ukraine is slowing gaining agency on several fronts (21:35) This is a meta historic conflict; the West saying this conflict is their fault or the US' fault is going too far; Russia has been threatening Ukraine since before the US existed (24:40) Otto Scharmer's article about collaborative diplomacy is not good enough; it's abstract and divorced from the physical realities of the situation (27:52) The reality is: “If Russia stops fighting, there will be no war. If Ukraine stops fighting, there will be no more Ukraine.” (30:38) What is the most strategic response we can make in this situation to directly address this tragedy and its needs? (32:38) Children in primary school are very tuned in to the collective: smart teachers are using military analogies when teaching (35:12) We have to integrate the “red” stage of development in the educational system…we have to let boys play with guns and speak about it (37:40) We need an Integral...
This is the hardest journey you have been on. Long hours. Lots of tears. Tons of anxiety. Loneliness. Disappointment. Heartbreak. All the things. So why not just quit? Why not just give up and turn around now? I mean, if it was meant for you, it wouldn't be this hard right? If you were on the right path, you wouldn't be this stressed, right? In this motivational minute, I want to offer you a bit of a reminder that whether you quit or give up now, they're both hard. You will have to face difficulties, disappointments and stress in either direction. When you're on the journey to reaching your potential or finding your purpose, there's a lack of visibility into what's the BEST way to get there. Sometimes there's an obvious detour that you can take that doesn't take too much longer and other times you have to consider backtracking as there is no foreseeable way there on your current path. But that's when we have to remember the God's eye view of this journey. Today's motivational minute is meant to inspire and encourage you through your tough days.
