Disappointment has a way of showing up unexpectedly—sometimes through life-altering hardship, and sometimes through smaller shifts that still sting deeply. This devotional reminds us that even when our disappointments feel insignificant compared to others’ struggles, they still matter to God because they matter to us. And while we may wish disappointing days would disappear completely, Scripture is honest that trouble is part of life. But so is God’s steady presence. One of the most comforting truths offered here is that disappointment is not proof that God is disappointed in us. It isn’t a sign that we’ve done something wrong or that we’ve fallen out of favor. Instead, God knows exactly where we are, and He has not abandoned us in the space we’re in. The devotional points to Psalm 18:19 as a reminder that God rescues and provides refuge because He delights in His children. That means even when circumstances feel cramped, heavy, or discouraging, God can still lead us into a “spacious place”—a place where peace is present, where protection is real, and where we can still see His blessings at work. God’s delight in us is constant. And in return, He invites us to find our delight in Him—even on disappointing days. That doesn’t mean ignoring sorrow or forcing happiness. It means turning toward the One who remains faithful, who offers refuge in the middle of our letdowns, and who is guiding us toward a future shaped by His goodness. Even in disappointment, we are never outside God’s care, His plan, or His delight. Main Takeaways Disappointment is part of life, but it is never proof that God is disappointed in you. God is not surprised by your circumstances—He is present and active in them. The Lord offers refuge and rescue in the very middle of discouragement. God delights in you consistently, even when your joy feels threatened. You can find true delight in God’s presence, even on hard days. Happy New Year! We ring in the new year with a twist off champagne disappointment and a commitment to embracing the struggle. We review our 2025 resolutions, celebrating a shocking victory involving the Goodyear Blimp while admitting defeat on our gym consistency, and set new, oddly specific goals for 2026. Erin also goes on a passionate rant about the "rage" of physical limitations during yoga and the stress of friends who refuse to sync their digital calendars. In sports news, we dig into the messy bankruptcy filing of Grand Slam Track, exposing the staggering amounts owed to athletes and media companies (including a $3 million marketing bill) and discussing the drama unfolding on Threads regarding undisclosed sponsorships. We also debate the purpose of those mysterious trash cans in drive-thru lines and share a childhood fear of stuffed animals. Finally, we determine the ultimate "worst sound when overstimulated" in our bracket segment—pitting shoe squeaks against loud dishes—and close with a high energy "No Bad News" story about a music teacher turning his kindergarten class into a techno rave.
Tobin and the gang were majorly impressed with Carson Beck putting his head down at crucial times in the Canes victory over Ohio State. We dive into the matchup between the Hurricanes and Ole Miss, can the Canes continue to dominate in the trenches? Was the Winter Classic a bust? Tobin and Brittney happen to think it was. Then it is time for a Monday classic as Leroy gives his Game Balls and Game Bums of the week.

No one likes to feel disappointed, but when you've gone through emotional abuse, that fear and avoidance is even stronger. Growing up, you learned the only way you could have value as a person was by pleasing others and essentially preventing them from experiencing a negative emotion. So if someone was disappointed in you, that was your fault, and thus, your responsibility to “fix.” I also think of disappointment as a gateway emotion to things like: shame, guilt, regret, inadequacy, etc. Disappointment isn't that big or heavy of an emotion; it's what you make that disappointment (or failure, or missed expectation) mean about you. Keep listening as we dive further into this concept and how it impacts our ability to set goals, to believe in ourselves, to believe new things about ourselves, and fully heal from trauma and abuse. Welcome to this week's Christian's Hour broadcast. We've all been in situations or faced circumstances that look absolutely impossible from a human perspective – whether it's disappointing events, a past that we can't do-over, or fears, hurts and habits for which there appears to be no remedy. Jesus said that while some things may look impossible to human beings, with God all things are possible. This month, Gene Appel, the Senior Pastor with the East Side Christian Church in Anaheim, California will be unpacking some ways where “Only God” can make the difference in our lives? Each of us at one time or another has experienced disappointments in life, and it's not unlikely that we will again in the future. The Bible's book of Psalms is a collection of sacred poems, often containing prayers, gathered by God's people over 2500 years ago. One of the things the psalms teach us is how to express our raw, unedited disappointments to God. So here's Gene to dispense with all the polite, positive God-talk and share with us how God can make a difference when disappointments overwhelm us... This teaching delves into the significance of prayer and intercession, exploring the challenges and disappointments often faced in prayer life. It emphasizes the importance of persistence and endurance in prayer, drawing lessons from biblical examples such as Moses and Elijah. The sermon highlights the need for a deeper commitment to prayer, encouraging listeners to pray through challenges and remain faithful in their requests to God. Real-life testimonies of healing and the dual nature of prayer—both immediate and enduring—are shared to inspire a more profound prayer life.

I liked a lot about Cyberpunk 2077--from the side missions to the combat to the visuals and plenty more-- but the character of Johnny Silverhand and the performance of Keanu Reeves was not one of them. This wouldn't have been a big problem if he wasn't such a crucial part of the main story, but he is and can't help but show up all of the time, so I couldn't help but only like Cyberpunk 2077 when I thought I was going to love it. Anyway and as always, thank you for watching or listening, I hope you enjoy this here episode, and I hope you have a wonderful wonderful rest of your day. Disappointment in the search for new continents
What happens when divorce shakes your faith? In this episode, we sit down with Hannah Ayers, who went through a divorce while pregnant, deeply confused, angry at God, and still showing up every morning as a Christian radio host, smiling on air while her heart was breaking behind the scenes. If you've ever felt like you had to hold it together for everyone else while falling apart inside… this conversation is for you.We talk honestly about grief, divorce, faith, anger, shame, and healing—and what it actually looks like to walk with God when you don't feel very “Christian” at all. Hannah shares how God met her in practical, undeniable ways, how community and honesty changed everything, and why real healing only happens when we stop trying to avoid pain and finally face it.This episode isn't just about divorce. It's about loss, disappointment, unanswered prayers, and the moments when you wonder if God is really still good.If you're hurting, isolated, or tired of pretending—you'll find hope here. Not hype. Not platitudes. Real hope.

The end of each year causes most people to reflect on what's happened in the previous 12 months. Amid big changes and maybe some successes, there are big disappointments. Perhaps even disappointment with God? In this passage, during which infant Jesus is presented at the Temple, we learn what faith looks like in the face of disappointment as it's put on display by Simeon, Joseph & Mary, and Anna the prophetess.
What are your favorite memories at Christmas? For me, it's putting up the Christmas tree, and then adding all the lights and ornaments and lighting up our living room.Every December we hang lights that drive out the darkness. But sometimes circumstances bring a darkness. The darkness of feeling lonely while you see everyone else with friends and family. The darkness of grief over lost Christmases with loved ones due to separation or death. The darkness of anxiety of being enough, doing enough, going enough. It's exhausting. The darkness of sin that produces shame and guilt that hang over souls like a thick fog that won't lift. The great news - Jesus conquers and drives out all darkness. Because the incarnation of Jesus is real, the light of the world has come and the darkness has not overcome Him. My darkness, your darkness, all darkness, has to flee in the presence of Jesus. In our Christmas season, we want to explore how the light of Jesus can drive away any darkness that overshadows our lives. So, come and bring all your stuff. You don't have to leave it at home when you come to Jesus. You don't have to pretend. Come and bring your darkness and surrender it and receive his light.Jesus truly is Light in the Darkness - and you will realize that He is Light in Your Darkness.

David Choe is a world-renowned artist, writer, podcaster and TV host. He shares about his addictions that put him on a decades-long cycle of extreme highs and lows and that forced him to eventually acknowledge and heal the childhood trauma he was battling inside. David shows up with raw, authentic presence to show us how we can transmute pain and shame into our best creative work and, more importantly, how complete vulnerability, especially about our hardest experiences, is the ultimate tool for forgiveness and self-acceptance. Journalist Lee Sanders is back with a full breakdown, analysis, and reaction to WWE Monday Night RAW – December 15, 2025 live from The Giant Center in Hershey, Pennsylvania
Pastor Krissy Miles opens this message by addressing the confusion and division of today's culture, particularly as amplified through social media and current events. She calls believers to practice true discernment, explaining that truth is not found merely in information or words, but in people who are genuinely submitted to Jesus—the person of truth. Even those who speak Scripture, she warns, may not truly be aligned with Christ if their lives are not marked by humility and obedience.Transitioning into the Christmas season, Pastor Krissy introduces the theme “The Messianic King,” part of The Miracle of Christmas series. She addresses the topic of Israel, highlighting the shared spiritual heritage between Christians and Jews while affirming the Christian belief that Jesus is the promised Messiah foretold in the Old Testament. Drawing from the Apostle Paul, she emphasizes the call to love the Jewish people and to desire their salvation. The message centers on the Road to Emmaus in Luke 24, where two disciples walk with the resurrected Jesus without recognizing Him. Pastor Krissy explains that Jesus is not hidden by God, but unrecognized because of doubt and disappointment. She connects this to modern believers, showing how discouragement and unbelief can blind us to God's work in our lives. As Jesus opens the Scriptures, Pastor Krissy highlights how the Law and the Prophets point to Him, referencing Old Testament passages from Daniel, Ezekiel, Haggai, and Zechariah that foretell a spiritual and eternal kingdom fulfilled in Christ. The message culminates in the breaking of bread, where the disciples finally recognize Jesus—a moment Pastor Krissy connects to communion and the Passover, revealing Jesus as the true Passover Lamb.Key Themes:Spiritual Discernment in a Noisy CultureTruth Found in Lives Submitted to JesusJesus as the Promised Messianic KingIsrael and God's Redemptive PlanThe Road to Emmaus (Luke 24)Doubt, Disappointment, and Spiritual BlindnessJesus Revealed Through the Law and the ProphetsThe Kingdom of God: Spiritual and EternalThe Son of Man in ScriptureCommunion, Passover, and FulfillmentUpdated Timestamps:0:20 – Introduction & Discernment3:20 – The Call for Spiritual Discernment5:00 – The Messianic King & Israel8:00 – The Road to Emmaus (Luke 24)13:20 – Confusion & Disappointment16:00 – Jesus Explains the Scriptures20:00 – Recognizing Jesus in the Breaking of Bread21:20 – Doubt vs. Faith28:20 – Daniel's Vision of the Kingdom30:20 – Old Testament Prophecies Fulfilled32:20 – The Kingdom of God Has Come34:20 – The Unshakable Kingdom36:20 – The Son of Man Revealed38:20 – Communion & Passover54:20 – Application & Call to Faith65:20 – Closing Prayer & Christmas Blessing
