Les in his tenth day of isolation in the OJR studio manfully struggles with the help of the wonderful listeners to create a one man two hour event to lift our hearts in this most difficult time.
Mike Brilla is currently a TOSA at Owen J. Roberts Middle School in Pottstown, PA. The school is located about 40 miles west of Philadelphia and they house grades 7 and 8 with roughly 900 students. Before becoming a TOSA, Mike taught Social Studies (since 2004) in both 7th and 8th grade at OJR. Aside from being a teacher, Mike is also an assistant wrestling coach at OJR and believes that much of what he does in his teaching and coaching is easily transferable.

I used to be one of those teachers that had kids work on projects in my room or watch videos on Zaption so I could check email and grade–it took me a while to fully take advantage of using that time to connect with my kids through conversation. I also have found and used a bunch of ideas to get to know your students and to constantly allow for them to express their own thoughts and feelings in class. Focus on the Kids: I once had a parent tell me I was a pretty good teacher but would be even better when I have kids of my own. At first, I was offended but then I thought about it and how right she was. I have constantly tried to remember that we are teaching people's children, not just students. That framework has really helped me to put my students first. Kids Need It: I see it in my own kids, they are good with technology but they need to learn how to use it responsibly, productively and educationally. I recently read Marching off the Map and it hammered home the idea that now, more than ever, we need to be teaching the “soft skills” in class so our kids can develop meaningful relationships and navigate the uncertain waters their futures hold. The lads are back from holiday full renewed vigor and with a lust for creating heart stopping radio. They are joined in the studio by long time OJR fan "Gav Hallam" for japes galore. A cracking show with all your favorite features that goes somewhat off the rails when a jug of real West Country cider is opened with hilarious results. Not for the faint hearted.
Another cracking OJR show this week as things went right to the wire with a broken computer and show preperation paired down to a bare minimum. Luckly Dod rides to the rescue with a soiled canvas bag full of funnies and a cheeky slightly scary grin. Enjoy it while it lasts.
Another classic show from October 2010 with OJR favourite Steve Mason. This week Les and Steve discuss computer games, the elephant man and death. To be honest I have only heard a tiny bit of this so anything could be on there. See you in court. An early recording so it might sound not quite as good as we would have liked.
Les Bell looses his comedy control in this rough as hell very early Old Jock Radio fiasco. Not really a show more of an "event" featuring the post Beta Band pop combo "The Aliens" live in the studio causing more than a little chaos and still not grasping that for a mic to work you need to talk into it. If you are new to this then pick any other show to start your listening experience. One for the hard core OJR fan, not the casual listener. Three hours...three bloody hours.
It's March 2010 and Les has somehow locked Rich out of the OJR studio in a pathetic bid to keep the gloroius shimmering light of fame firmly fixed on himself and not have it defused onto lesser mortals. It's not going to work is it?
The dream team, Les, Dod and Steve Mason broadcast a special one off show during Christmas 2013 over a year after OJR shut its doors on a stunned public. Recorded and broadcast in mono.
In this show from the new OJR first broadcast live on November the 10th 2018 Les and Dod welcome the "hillbilly nightmare" that is Cousin Chicken Lips into the studio to play us some songs and join in the general mayhem of the evening. Warning, show features a banjo.
Another corking two hours from the OJR boys. UFO expert "Plum" drops by to not wow us with his weak ass non-evidence for extraterrestrials. Dod brings his "A" game with two poems, "whats on in Scotland" and a smattering of magazine headlines. Groovy.
Episode seven of the OJR reboot. Made with chocolate, cream and a full gallon of fresh dairy milk.
Show number five of the new OJR reboot. High quality laughs from low quality presenters.
Episode 3 of the new OJR featuring Les and Dod Bell with scratchcard challenge, meat of the week and smash my valuables.
Episode six of the new reboot of OJR. This week Dod compiles a list of his 10 most hated things and and tries to persuade Les to relegate them to "file 13". If you think this sounds like a certain Channel 4 TV show with the number 101 in it then you are totally wrong. Totally.
Chris and Frank travel to the Fish'n Canada Studios to co-host the OJR radio show with fishing media legend Angelo Viola. The guys discuss current angling news and ask Angelo questions about his fishing history as well as key muskie related FNC episodes.
