Ryan visits with Brandi Simonof and Saptosa Foster to discuss the new biotechnology lab at Sallie B. Howard School.
Saptosa's passion for the PR & marketing industries and how Black people are seen and heard can definitely be heard during our interview. Her recent tweet intrigued me and I wanted to hear about her journey. We talked about competition in the industry, the responsibility of Black executives at white agencies, preparing the next generation of publicists, and so much more. What an insightful conversation. It was inspiring to hear how she navigated, built, and sustained the ups and downs of the industry. Being a Black woman and an entrepreneur can lend itself to encountering huge obstacles, but through it, all Saptosa and her partner @shantebacon broke through several barriers and carved out a niche for themselves. “When you take on something bigger than yourself, the universe helps you.” Dr. Joanne Woodard This episode hit me right in the heart! If you listen through to the endwhen I read the poem posted in the hallway of the school, written by its namesake in 1948, you will see why. For this episode of The Principal's Office Podcast, I had the chance to visit with Dr. Joanne Woodard, of Sallie B. Howard School in Wilson, North Carolina. This episode is a little different, whereas sometimes we've gone to schools and learn specifically, tactically how schools are doing amazing things that they're doing, in this case I talk to Dr. Woodard about the origin story of the school, and learn the answer the question: Who is Sallie B Howard? Well, what I learned surprised me and inspired me, and I think it will do the same for you. Please enjoy this fun episode of The Principal's Office Podcast!
